Seattle Sun Tan

Received the worst spray tan I have ever had. My stomach, back, and face are untouched by the spray. Half of my legs are still white. I’m not sure if I got a bad versa machine or maybe your sprayers are not working properly, but this looks awful. I have two tans left and I’m never coming back for them.

Lauren was abrupt and rude in regards to my account… I had not been able to do sessions with the coligen bed for close to 5 weeks but had paid thru Dec with a curtiosy existention that Jessie (no longer with the company?. I) was nice enough to help out. Lauren was rude and said she would let corporate know while I was having a session there… do u think I am in idiot seriously Girl u made no attempt to call corporate and ur lame excuse about notes does not fly. Again I paid for Dec but inquired about my extension… warning do not do business with people who do not honor thier word! Consumer beware! Oh read the reviews I am not alone… sad

Olivia (about 95% sure that’s her name lol) was Awesome! Super friendly, she explained Everything to me. I thought I was going to annoy the girl with All my questions, but she was very patient and helpful. I decided to sign up for a membership and package. Hello Vitamin D! Definitely a great environment.

I am here at 9:35 and they are completely closed. Looks like someone decided to go out on their Friday night instead of stay at work! They are open until 10. It says it on the door and here on Unilocal too. I’ve had awesome experiences here before but this is just so unacceptable. No sign saying «sorry we had to close early». Nothing.
Super pissed. Today is July 3^rd, 2015. You’re welcome managers for letting you know who’s skipping out early on their evening shifts.

I haven’t been to a tanning salon in years but I wanted to get tan for summer clothes. My first visit was nothing like I expected: the manager, Jess, gave me a tour of the whole place, talking about each tanning bed as we went. She got me the deal I wanted and a free week of tanning! Every time I’ve gone in since, I’ve gotten amazing customer service (Angie and Isabel have been stellar as well). These ladies have been so good that I’m even going to call the regional manager and give them praise! I would recommend this location to any of my family and friends because I now know I won’t go anywhere else. Whether you’re tanning for a vacation or wedding or tanning because you want to have that golden glow all year long, this is the place to do it.

I had a good experience here. Better than another local place I tried. The girl was very nice and helpful and the tanning bed was amazing. Memberships are very confusing and not explained well. However I had a groupon and she wasn’t pushy to upgrade me.

BEWARE of their membership deal because in order to cancel that you have to make an appearance in the store AND make it in about 2 weeks before it charges your card again so that «corporate has time to process it». At this point I wasn’t really upset with their bushiness, they seemed like a company that would make you do a run-​around like that so I came in, signed the cancellation paper AND even paid for an additional month that I wash’t going to use.
Fast forward 5 months. I notice the membership wasn’t cancelled so I called them and after about a week of back and forth, I got corporates phone number. Come to find out «Corporate» is just ONE girl name Jesse. So your big bad corporate needs 2 weeks to cancel my membership, I would still love an explanation as to why it takes someone 2 weeks to cancel a credit card payment? But moving on.
Because I didn’t have a copy of my cancellation paperwork (from 5 months ago) they weren’t going to refund my money. She was even the one that noted that I hand’t used any of their salons for about 5 – 6 months and had a credit. So then why is it so difficult to refund somebody their money for services they clearly didn’t use? I get your in the business of making money but you should also CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS because this is one that will NEVER be back to Seattle Sun Tan.
Sure, if I had a membership knowingly, I would use it but your staff seems incompetent enough to process paperwork and I feel like i’m not the only person you guys have scammed into paying not just 1 additional month but MULTIPLE.
I know I am partly to blame because I didn’t double check their work and check my account at the end of the month but I have multiple EFT accounts and its very easy to miss a $ 25 charge. That’s why I believe it is in the company’s INTEGRITY to be honest and fair to their customers and you guys get a BIG, FAT F.

I really like tanning here! I always get great customer service. The staff is always really nice and it has a comfortable atmosphere. The monthly prices are awesome, too. They seem to always have specials going on. I’ve tanned at both the ballard and university village locations and had great experiences!

I’m really surprised about all the bad reviews! I came in last Friday to get spray tanned and the male associate working did a fabulous job. The poor guy was only one working the salon. I had a 6pm appt and when I showed up there were a few people waiting ahead of me. He took his time with each customer and was really friendly (never rushing the person or looking flustered) When it came to be my turn I told him what my appt was for and he told me the girl who was supposed spray me no longer worked there. He then asked if I was comfortable with him spraying me (which was nice) and of course I said yes (because this fat pregnant lady needed some color). He signed me up and sent me to the room. I heard the door ding out front a few more times and knew he’d be a little bit (as I said before he was the only one working and had to check people in and clean beds). He was back spraying me in no time! He didn’t rush and made sure everything looked perfect before I left!
I would give 5 stars solely on how awesome this sales associate was but I knocked them down one due to them not having another person backing this poor guy up. I’m actually going to write the manager and tell them what a great employee they have there!

I’ve seen other comments below and I find it really weird because I’ve had nothing but great experiences here at the Ballard location. Products and beds are on point,
Associates are always helpful and attractive, and the location is so convenient! Definitely one of my favorite tanning salons! :)

Don’t get me wrong, the products and equipment are great.
However, the sales associates are pushy and inconsistent at the Ballard location. I’m not completely naïve: I expected sales staff at a tanning salon to be pushy about upselling (I work in sales/​marketing so I get it, and I’ve tanned before). However, all of those «$ 20 off» or «$ 20 gift card» deals are very misleading. Sales associates are inconsistent about what these deals mean. Yesterday a salesperson told me that my reward would be eligible for a $ 20 package to upgrade to higher level beds. However, when I went in today, the man at the front desk was not only incredibly rude, but made fun of the previous sales associate who had apparently misinformed me about what the deal could be applied to. He pointed out that I could use this as a credit for a $ 50 upgrade, but I did not agree because I didn’t think it was necessary and didn’t want to spend the money. I made it extremely clear that I did not want to upgrade. However, at the end of our conversation, he said, «so I’ll apply that $ 50 upgrade then?»
The ironic thing is that the $ 20 deal I received was because I filled out a lengthy customer service survey. My reward for time spent? Terrible customer service.
Also, I brought a tanning lotion that I purchased online that I have always used (I have a few severe skin allergies, so I don’t take chances). After being hassled by the worker I mentioned above, another worker reached over the counter and literally grabbed the bottle from my hands, then continued to berate me about how I needed to buy one of their lotions, and made fun of me for using a lotion that she didn’t consider effective.
Lastly, I wanted to cancel my membership, because I don’t plan on tanning again until next spring. I knew to expect that they would push me to «freeze» instead, which costs $ 5 monthly. I adamantly said no at least five separate times, and said that I needed to cancel, NOT freeze. After searching around for a few minutes, the rude male worker stated that he couldn’t find a cancellation form (how convenient). I am going back tomorrow with hopes that I will be able to cancel, but it’s not looking good.
The equipment is great, I have a great tan, but I won’t ever be going back to Seattle Sun Tan again. The customer service was too horrendous for me to put myself through that again.

I do not recommend coming here. Despite all their «deals», you end up paying much more coming to Seattle Sun Tan than any other tanning salon I’ve visited.

First of all the staff at the Aurora Salon are rude. The girl who helped me the first time was extremely rude and obnoxious. I use the Versa and I told her which level I wanted to use, she argued with me about it and when I finally went in to tan, guess what. she put the wrong level in, so I basically paid for what SHE wanted me to do. Annoying.
The guy at the Ballard Salon was really friendly and I enjoyed seeing him so much that I ended up buying a package. Unfortunately, the spray tans were starting to affect my skin in a negative way so I called to cancel my package. I was told that I still have to pay for a month because its stated in the written agreement. I’m a little pissed because when I first signed up the guy told me I could cancel at any time as long as it was before the 1^st of the month. I guess I still have to pay another month before I can really get out of it, even though I paid my first month already. All because it was written in the «small print» of the form I signed when buying the package.
Come on, be a professional and an adult, live up to your word and stop tricking people to make money.

I am not going back.
I went to the Aurora location. The staff was helpful but definitely very pushy with their selling. I went ahead and signed up for the membership, thinking it would be a good investment, not realizing that I was signing away a lot of money.
My experience was ok, but when I got home the skin across my middle section started to grow red and irritated. The whole next week and a half I was miserable with an allergic reaction. I have never experienced this with tanning at other salons before. I returned and spoke with the manager, Kendall and she was very sweet, but could only give me a gift card for the money that I had spent for the products and the packages I purchased. There is no way I can safely go tan anytime soon as my skin is still irritated and discolored even a month after the fact so I have no idea what I’m going to do with this hefty gift card. Not only am I scarred and have no idea when I can tan again anywhere, but I have a useless gift card. I’m looking to unload it if there’s a loyal patron of SST who’s interested in it.
ON TOP OF ALL THAT, the membership fee went through on my credit card a week ago and customer service says that no matter what, that’s not refundable. This is almost $ 200 later, for one session and my skin messed up.
NOT HAPPY.
Oh, and don’t expect their customer service to return your calls promptly or ever. It was great to work with Kendall as she was prompt in «helping» me, despite the lack of satisfactory outcome. But it’s a long wait to hear back from the customer service people at the corporate office.
Seattle Sun Tan, this was awful. But you got what you wanted: my money. :(

Staff has SERIOUS attitude problems. Never once have the smiled or been friendly with me. OK we get it, you probably hate your job. But you work in a customer serving business, stop being so rude to your customers. Also fairly certain a few weeks ago one of them put me in a bed with brand new bulbs because I came out SUPER burned in places. I could be wrong but if that was the case a staff member should have warned me and recommended a shorter tanning time.
I refuse to buy a package from any of these folks until someone is polite to me.
Otherwise very clean, beds are nice, rooms are very private. Would give this place more stars if the staff were A LOT nicer.

Super great staff, nice location/​atmosphere and generally, a great place to come and get your tan on.
I did get upsold some product I didn’t need from my group deal that I came in with, but hey, that’s just smart business.
I live far away but otherwise, this would be my tanning place of choice for those times you want to pretend we live somewhere sunny.

So I don’t normally tan, but thought it would be a good idea to get one before my trip to cali coming up. And lo and behold, there was a groupon for Seattle Sun Tan sitting in my inbox, just beckoning me. The best part?
Its right next to my gym, for easy GTL’ing.
Well, when I arrived on a Friday at 6 pm, (granted the after work crowd was swarming) the young man behind the counter was terribly overwhelmed. I was the 4^th person in line, and when it was finally my turn, I had a lot of questions, (Its been several years since I tanned indoors) I wanted to know what kind of lotion and exposure would be the best for my my skin type. The young man sold me on a 35 dollar lotion and goggles. Before I could decline, he was already helping the person behind me. Im not trying to become orange here, and I don’t need to pay you an additional 45 dollars for your level 5 bed.
The best part? I returned a few days later. I was the only person in there, and the girl at the counter treated me like I had the plague. I asked to buy another pair of goggles, since I forgot mine. Out of stock. But could she tell me that nicely? No. How about a bottle of water that is supposed to be free? Out of stock. I told her how this was my second time there and how long I went for last time. I had no idea how long I should have gone this time. Without even looking up from her Facebook, to see what I looked like, ’14 minutes’ is what she said, so I said…‘ok’
Now I have a sunburnt ass, in the middle of this Seattle ‘Winter.‘

What is it about Tanning places… (they all are able to hire the same exact personality behind the counter). So interesting to me, they are not my favorite bunch.
This place is like the rest (typical). They really want you to sign up for the monthly — they try to talk you into the «better levels» they all tell you what you really need to get «super tan» «super fast». And its annoying to cancel. They are all the same.
This one is close to my house so its convenient. One major annoying CON to this place compared to Desert Sun is the FLOORS — they are NASTY. When I do not want to put my dirty gym clothes on the floor. .. you know its bad. I wish they would spend a little more time in cleanliness department (less in the sales tactics).
If you want to get tan its not like there are overwhelming wonderful options– there are lots of options period. I say go with what is convenient.

I’ve been trying to hold out as long as I can but damn you Seattle and your grey gloomy days. I couldn’t look myself in the mirror anymore lol.

I was greeted by Allison, she was extremely helpful. She suggested I do the versa spray tan level 3 bronze. Don’t know what it means but I’m glad she knows her stuff. I’ve done this once before and it was a little confusing with all the different egyptian poses they make you do. She was very helpful and thorough about explaining step by step what I needed to do so I wouldn’t walk out with tan lines or spots.
Only complaint is that I wish the spray tan wasn’t cold, it would have been nice to have it be a warmer spray not sure if that’s possible but just saying it would have been nice.
Felt like I just got back from mini vacay, I left feeling a million times better.
