Pretty good takoyaki, though a bit on the pricier side. There wasn’t too long of a wait, and they were made fresh for every customer. I got 6 of them, half with spicy sauce and half without. The other toppings are oyster sauce, japanese mayo, and bonito flakes. They’re quite hot when you get them, and each ball has at least one large chunk of octopus. They’re a fun little snack to get before or after grocery shopping next door!

Need to go back and try their takoyaki. My bff and I went into Uwajimaya because he had never been there before and I wanted him to try taiyaki. We split an oreo and azuki taiyaki, suprisingly I liked the oreo better? Taiyaki is rising on the scene in the PNW, but didn’t compare to my first experience elsewhere. Not bad though! Will try the blueberry next time…

Not the best Takoyaki I’ve ever had but certainly good. Everything is cooked to order so you know for a fact you aren’t getting something that’s been sitting out for ages. Cook time is usually 5 ish minutes for 5 Takoyaki. Not bad. It’s fun watching the employees cook and I’ve come enough times to possibly replicate the recipe myself if I had the right equipment. The Taiyaki is equally good but something I have to be in the mood for to purchase alongside Takoyaki. Since the Takoyaki(and Taiyaki) is made to order, when you receive it, make sure to wait a bit before eating it. I know it’s tempting to jump right in but you can seriously burn yourself. Tread with caution and wait — trust me.

Fantastic place to enjoy some traditional japanese street fare. Staff was extremely friendly and the food was incredible. Not only was it delicious, but the presentation was great! I’d easily have paid twice as much for the quality. If you’re looking to try some phenomenal takoyaki without having to travel, Seattle has a true gem in the Uwajimaya market.

Unsanitary! The server handled my cash, and then handled the food without removing her gloves! Money is dirty yo! I had to ask her to re-make my order because that is really disgusting. I can’t know how many other orders she made without changing out her gloves, either way, watch out.

I was so excited when I saw this place just as I was leaving Uwajimaya. I love tayaki(sweet fish shaped waffles with different fillings) as well as takoyaki(squid filled dough balls). I didn’t dare to order that takoyaki, because they are an art form, and I’ve had bad ones even in Japan. The tayaki I figured are hard to mess up. I went non-traditional with an oreo filling. I’ve had way better in Japan. The waffle should have been more moist in the center while crispy on the outside. This one was a bit too dry and hard, but it was nice just to take a 5 minute mental and culinary trip back to Japan.

Great takoyaki place! :) Yes, they’re made to order so it may take a while, but mine only took about five minutes after ordering. I got the 8 piece, half regular and half spicy. I wasn’t a fan of the spicy; just didn’t taste right, but no complaints about the regular. The consistency and texture was spot on; I don’t eat takoyaki often, but this was on par with some I had in Nagoya last February! :)

This was aiiiiiiiiight… not the best, not the worst tasting Takoyaki… Wait time can be up to 15 minutes… That’s all I can really say… LOL

The sauce lacked subtlety, with a strong punchy salt taste. I think it might have been Tonkatsu rather than Takoyaki sauce(yes they are similar, no they are not identical). Possibly there was just too much of it(and not enough mayo). Still, it was alright for seattle.

You win Tako kyuuban, You want me to hate you and never darken your doorstep again, well you just did it. Next time I’m wanting takoyaki, I’ll go to oasis like meili suggested. Or I’ll visit maekawa bar. It’s cheaper there and their customer service is much better. After happy hours with other Unilocalers, I decided I wanted takoyaki. So I made the trip from south lake union to here just for takoyaki. I walk in and there was no one in line and 1 person who already order. Not a single greeting, or a i’ll be with you in just a moment. Just eye contacts from both female employee and a look as if I was a inconvenient. I know it’s almost closing time(45 minutes til), but you’re still open. They both look at me and then went back to doing their cleaning or cooking. I decided I’ll run to uwajimaya and come back. When I got back, the cashier was perfectly okay greeting her line of 5 while taking order. I’ve been here a few time, and recommended this place to friends and co-workers quite a bit. but I’ve always heard the same complaint from them when I ask about their experience, no customer service at all. I’ve experience this on my trips, so wasn’t too surprise to hear it. for a stall space that measure maybe 14×10, they must be train to ignore their potential customers. if you care about customer service, just walk away. if you want soggy takoyaki, this is a good spot if you want to be wait to take order and then wait for your food. but if you have that much time, I suggest walking another 5 minutes for better customer service and takoyaki.

I’m so glad this opened up, there’s a serious lack of good takoyaki in Seattle. And now you can get it even if you’re not in the mood to go to a sushi place! Since takoyaki is basically all they do, they do it right. My only complaint was, I thought they overdid the pickled ginger a little bit, but I suppose next time I can ask for no or light ginger. I’m also eager to try all the neat taiyaki fillings.

Really? What’s the big deal of this? They pour some kind of batter over a heating plate with round holes on it. For each of the hole, they put a small piece of squid into it. With some deft maneuver, they became spherical: about 1 inch diameter balls with a soft shell and a squid center. Then they drizzle some sauce and dry fish flakes(かつおぶし, Katsuobushi, dried bonito flakes) on top. They don’t taste bad. A bit soggy inside. I don’t find it enjoyable.

I really like this little place. The employees seem energetic and it is fun watching them make my little yummy balls of Octopus. I like all the toppings and now I can get it half spicy! Plus it is kind of entertaining when you are eating them off a Toothpick on the Train ride home.

Great for a mid afternoon snack if you’re not in a hurry, because it can take 10 – 15 min to make them. The biggest issue I have with this place is that I eat them too quickly and burn my mouth!

This little eatery is located in a food court in China Town and serve some very delicious takoyaki!!! It was very soft and had a lot of flavor. I liked the topping, not sure what it was but it was flaky. I am glad they didn’t put a lot of the sauce on top because it has a overbearing taste. just a little goes a long way!

I always stop by Tako Kyuuban whenever I’m at Uwajimaya. The staff are always friendly and courteous. I some how always manage to go when the big batches are just about done cooking so I never really have to wait. Takoyaki is so good here! I always ask for more tonkotsu sauce on top because they kind of skimp on that, but otherwise everything is good here. I haven’t had any bad experience here.

Their takoyaki was too soggy and it wasn’t even crunchy at the least bit. I also thought it tasted a bit bland. I haven’t had their taiyaki though but I don’t think I’ll come back here…

Tako Kyuuban is a cute little place at the far corner of the food court in Uwajimaya. They have a simple menu consisting of takoyaki and some dessert items. Takoyaki is a ball of fried rice with octopus inside served with mayo or some other sauces on top. Commonly a street snack in Japan. I bought six takoyaki for $ 4 which was a total bargain. I watched them make each little fried ball with painstaking precision and the end product was delicious. My Japanophile companion confirmed that the takoyaki tasted authentic. I definitely recommend trying this place!

Never Had Takoyaki Before I like to try new food. This stand is located inside the Uwejimaya food court, as you exit on the NW side. Prices are around $ 5 for 6 pieces. It’s something like a stuffed pancake ball, with the stuffing being centered around a dime sizes octopus chunk. Quite a lot goes into these and I enjoyed the blend of flavors — ginger, green onion, bonito flakes, etc. you have a skewer to eat them with, and I found the bottoms of mine sticking to the serving container. Maybe a thin track of mayo at the bottom would grease the skid. It was a bit salty, and I was done after a eating a couple, but I would buy it again if I was sharing.

Really good takoyaki, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve ever had… The filling was flavorful, but it was a little too soft for me and fell apart fairly easily. Check it out if you’re in the area, but it’s also $ 6 for 8 pieces…
