History

Established in 2007.

«Zayda Buddy» was once the nickname of Phil Myzel, a Duluth, Minnesota native. Myzel came to America in 1921 and made his way up in Duluth to becoming a successful businessman and town favorite. Zayda Buddy’s, which opened in Ballard in 2007, was established by Myzel’s grandson, Joel Radin, and is inspired by Myzel’s favorite hometown restaurant.

Joel R.

Business Owner

Joel Radin left his small hometown for the big city after falling in love with Seattle as a child. Radin wanted to bring the welcoming character of his grandfather’s favorite Duluth, Minnesota restaurant and the comfort food of his childhood to Seattle.

Along with managing the day-to-day operations at Zayda Buddy’s, Radin is also the owner and founder of Bauhaus Books & Coffee, a Seattle café located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, and a co-founder and investor of Top Pot Doughnuts, one of Seattle’s most popular doughnut shops.
