Sedona Summit

Steer clear of this place. We booked a 2-​bedroom for a week, requesting a quiet room with a nice view. What we found: a view of the parking lot, waking up in the middle of every night to the sound of a huge component of HVAC (or maybe the nearby pool heater) powering up, saggy worn-​out sofas, a broken window, stuck screen door, stained counters, dirty patio (it looked nice until we found the old toenail clippings).
Part of our group unexpectedly had to leave a couple days early and we requested to downsize to a 1-​bedroom. Not only did they refuse (a difference of maybe $ 200), when we asked to talk to a manager, our call was never returned.
Sedona has lots of accommodations and their vacancy rate was high (wonder why!), so no excuse for this.
Positives: the location is good: there’s a trailhead nearby and not a lot of traffic.

Check in was at 4:00 pm. They allowed us to check in two hours early. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly.

Great place, nice rooms, and decent price. Although, I did only stay there for one night and did not have a chance to try out all the amenities besides the pool. Just to note, Sedona summit is located a fair distance from center, and Only downside was there reoccurring attempts to sell me a time share.

Awesome place to visit. Rooms were really nice with all amenities. Infinity jacuzzi was a highlight due to the view of the red rock mountains. This is truly a place to go to retreat from reality. I would go back in a heartbeat.

This is a huge disappointment. First, it is not a resort, but time shares. Our first clue was a high pressure sales pitch called a «complementary check-​in gift». The salesmen are deceptively called concierges and they outnumber the front desk staff 3:1. They were relentless and rude. There is no housekeeping– none– and the nightly «resort fee» pays for absolutely nothing. Seriously. Listed amenities are simply public facilities, eg a Safeway, entirely off premises. All are unaffiliated with the time shares. Units are somewhat attractive, but views are of other units and parking lots, not scenic in the least. A busy US highway is less than 30 ft from some bedrooms. It is aggravating to be in a congested area knowing vast open lands are just out of reach. If you live in a noisy, densely populated city you will feel at home, but otherwise stay home. We visit Sedona frequently and enjoyed staying at many other places that are quite an unflattering contrast. I would not return here if paid to do so.

Alan and I just returned from a week’s stay at Sedona Summit w/​my brother Jim. It was our first time staying here. We owned a timeshare at Los Abrigados before it was bought by Diamond Resorts and have stayed there several times. Earlier this year we stayed at the Point at Poipu, also a Diamond Resort. We attended one of their Events of a Lifetime, which culminated in an owners’ update at which we decided to switch our timeshare points from the Mainland (Sedona) to Hawaii. When it was time to plan our Sedona trip we decided to stay at Sedona Summit rather than Los Abrigados. I must agree w/​the previous reviewers about the timeshare pitches. After you check in you are herded toward the concierge in an effort to involve you in timeshare updates/​sales. This is true whether you are an owner or not and it’s annoying. We had signed up for a dinner/​lunch/​outing before arriving. I wasn’t feeling well and we canceled. They were cooperative w/​that and we appreciated it. This review would have been 5 stars if it weren’t for the not so subtle timeshare pressure and the absolutely unreliable wifi. Their provider is Windstream and it was out for hours if not days at a time.
Aside from those two caveats our stay was wonderful. We stayed in room 342 in Building 41. The apartment was huge, w/​two well appointed master bedroom suites. Each bedroom had a king size bed. Linens are the usual high Diamond quality. The beds were very comfortable, w/​a variety of pillows to choose from. Jim requested a flatter pillow and one was brought. There was ample amount of storage space for clothes. There was even room for suitcases under the beds, as there is on ships, though we stored them in the closets in the entry hall. The bathrooms had twin hammered copper sinks and large triangular bathtubs as well as showers w/​angular mosaic tile floors which provided secure footing. Jim’s bathroom had the toilet/​sink which could be used by company, sliding doors closing it off from the bedroom and the hall. It had a hammered copper vessel sink. The toilets are by Toto, although I doubt the toilet seats are Toto, because they don’t have the «soft close» feature we’re used to and we had to be mindful not to drop them. There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms and the living room, though their speed is not adjustable. They probably are quite useful in the summer, but not in a cool fall. The furniture in the living room was very comfortable and the light is good for reading. There are large flatscreen TVs in bedrooms and living room. There is a stacked washer/​dryer combination in a closet in the hall, which was very convenient. They provided small boxes of soap. The kitchen is fully equipped w/​stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. We requested a tea kettle and it was brought quickly. As has been our experience w/​Diamond Resorts in the past, the staff were helpful and friendly. We had a jammed garbage disposal and Kenny and Richard were rocks stars, fixing it like magic. Jim and Alan had more contact than I did w/​the front desk staff and found them helpful. They also used the hot tub and other facilities and liked them. Read as 4.49. We would return sometime in the future, although we’d check to see whether they have a more reliable wifi provider. It was free and worth every penny.

Everyone please be careful with this hotel!
My friends from Japan stayed at this hotel from July 22^nd 2015 to July 24^th 2015.
My friend booked room 121P.
When she checked out of hotel on the 24^th, she forgot to pick up her important items (passport, credit cards, and cash) from the safety box. She also left her bag and clothes in the closet.
As she started to make her way to PHX, she realized that she forgot her belongings at the hotel, and called but learned that the lost and found office was already closed.
The next day she called the hotel again, but the lost and found office staff informed her that they did not find any of her items. This was upsetting to her, so she drove back to the hotel because she felt that her belongings must still be at the hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel the staff was not very open or helpful. She was given the run around when she tried to ask who opened the safety box. The staff eventually told her the housekeeper must have opened it, but did not find anything.
My friend went to Sedona police and filed a report at which time the Sedona police contacted hotel in front of her. This is when the hotel staff found her bag and clothes, but continued to claim that there was no passport, credit cards, and cash.
After a week, hotel found her passport and credit cards, but not the cash.
A week after?? Why?
No cash !? lol
I know the fact, staffs were thief.
I reported this matter to Diamond Resorts but they totally denied.
Sham on Diamond Resort and Sedona Summit Resort.
Everyone just be careful with this hotel. Do not left anything at safety box, it not safe!!!

I would actually give this place a 4-​star if it wasn’t a front for a time-​share sales pitch. It was very annoying, and uncalled for.
An advice — When you go there to check in, and they ask you to see concierge for some discounts on something to do around town, say NO THANKS because they are trying to allure you to buy the time-​share. Also, you can find better discounts on activities around town on Groupon (Such as PinkJeep, etc.) Disregard their voice msg left in your room phone… you get my point by now, right? ~_~

If you make the mistake and get a room here– DO NOT get sucked into any of the timeshare presentations! They will offer $ 75-​$ 100 just to go, and they will say it’s not a «high pressured» meeting, but it is. It’s actually a huge scam that Diamond resorts is running! As far as the rooms here, they are nice… But this company is all about getting you to become an «owner». So once you are in their territory– they will constantly bug he crap out of you to try and attend one of these meetings. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Any location run or owned by Diamond resorts is pathetic and likes to try and scam their guests.

Gorgeous resort! All the amenities you could ask for! Beautiful views! So quiet! Great hiking trails! Would love to come back!

Great place, wonderful customer service! I’ve traveled extensively and this is the most beautiful spot in Sedona.
Gracious front desk greeting, easy check-​in and lots of people to help with luggage, etc.
Friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Cons:
–not within walking distance of anything. Had to drive into town
–hotel manager
–diamond resort time share lady was pushy
We had an issue with our neighbor. I tried to contact the hotel manager about the issue to see if one of us can move, I never got a call back after calling multiple times. So that was disappointing

Love Diamond Resorts. Since my sister in law is a member we always go. The unit we had was A ONE Bedroom and the room we had was the studio. So nice and there where multiple pools. We ended up walking up a few units to the big pool and hot tub.
At night you could see the Milky Way and all the shooting stars. Amazing!

Great motel at a great price. We ended up paying 136.00 for one night.
Pros:
— laundry facility free on site (just but detergent, but front desk said just ask and they will give you detergent for free)
— nice pools with separate adult pool
— my room had a nice kitchen with large fridge and freezer
— nice staff
— DVD player (we rented red box at Walgreens a few miles away)
— pools were very clean
Cons:
— concierge tries too sell you another vacation (like the blue suit people in Vegas)
— hot water takes awhile to come on
— bad lighting to room at night (room 129p)
Good stay for the price.

The worse experience ever. We stay here three times a year, and their system for booking is terrible, so we book through
then the front office waves our resort fee since we are members. This time they said they cannot do this. They showed policy for non members booking this way. They would not listen.
Next our carpet was worn, we had two different paint colors on the ceiling, and the list goes on. By our unit we had to stand on rocks in the dark BBQing vs a nice slab, and there Wanda rattle snake in the general area.
The worse they should had credited me, and said next time we will not do this. Then made a note of this.

I won’t spend a lot of time on this review.
I’m disappointed in a room that should have had two queen beds along with a pull-​out sofa in a studio suite.
Upon check in I was told none of their rooms have 2 beds. I then asked if I can be changed to a king bed hoping for a bit more sleeping space. I was told by Brandon due to a full house I could not be accommodated. Knowing I was upset at check in I was still asked to speak to the concierge to be reeled into a time-​share. ugh! not happening!
I’ll add my positives here only because any negative is definitely bound to have a positive attached.

I understand that not too many rooms have a «views» but even though our room faced the parking lot our long distance view was breathtaking.
Don’t accept the welcome packet and they never bother you about the timeshare speech.
We booked our room through VROB so we used someone’s timeshare. We have a two bedroom lockout and it was awesome.
The place is about two miles out of downtown Sedona. Not too far and not too close to the hustle and bustle of the town. I’d definitely stay here again.

Stumbled on this little gem for an impromptu trip. Was pleasantly delighted to see how well kept the grounds are maintained and how much nicer the rooms were given it was one of those timeshare type of resorts. We had a sunset room equipped with everything I needed to feel like a staycation without missing the comforts of home. The bathtub alone made me want to be the star of an adult movie. Staff is stellar and never overly pushy about taking their vacation ownership tours. But if you want to buy in, definitely let Patricia or Leah charm you why you need to invest here. Their infectious smiles and enthusiasm is hard to refuse.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the check-​out policy. I’ve never had a resort make you check out at 10a. Makes no sense to me when you can’t even check in the room until after 4p. Perhaps it was busy and overbooked for Father’s Day. My suggestion to the the front desk personnel is have some diplomacy and tact when guests inquire about late check-​outs. It’s not unusual that hotels have check-​outs til as late as 4p. Mind you, we would be willing to pay you for that extra beauty sleep. I did appreciate the offer to access the pools until we departed. In any event, this is a wonderful little spot to escape to in our own desert backyard.

The only unit available was a studio, which is okay for 2 people but no more than that as it is small and dark. Could use some updating too.
Housekeeping never showed up for the weekly «cleaning» and towel restocking. When we notified front desk they said they would let them know but no one ever showed up. The front desk person was also very rude and had an attitude on the phone when I called with some questions about our stay.
Didn’t appreciate the $ 25 daily resort fee when nothing was done for us– we had to empty our trash, go to front desk for more towels, missed out on the weekly cleaning; not sure what we were paying for.
Sedona and Oak Creek are gorgeous, but our stay at this resort was disappointing.

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!!! Our room was beautiful, very comfy beds… the little pool and hot tub were PERFECT and just steps away from our door. The views around the complex are breathtaking and there is an easy short walk to some trail heads and a gorgeous hill to watch the sunset. Location is just a mile or so from the «Uptown» area. You walk there, but it’s hilly and several miles. Great places to eat in the area as well.
We did visit the «Indian Jewelry» show — which was very over-​priced. Skip that. I was able to attend the Guided Meditation session (with Crystal singing bowls) and I have to say it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. (i’m very much into Yoga and Meditation!). What I didn’t appreciate was that after class, the instructor pushed her «new CDs» on the class to buy. Kind of ruined my Zen…
Can’t wait to return to the beautiful area and really enjoyed my time there.
