Not impressed. Ordered eggs over medium, received eggs with runny whites. Bacon over cooked. Bacon and eggs with coffee over $ 15, really!

Went here over the weekend! The service was great the atmosphere was great as well for a small hometown café. The chicken fried steak was very good. The waitress which I am assuming is Dianne was excellent. Then Next time I am in the area I will make a detour to eat at this restaurant again!

WARNING: do not expect fast service on a Sunday around lunch time. We were forewarned that our simple sandwiches were behind several large orders. Took 25 minutes. Average American café. Crowded with Sequim locals.

This is the best café in Sequim. Allen and Dianne, the owners cook, serve and treat every person who comes in like family. The food is outstanding. It is healthy, full of flavor and it is evident they use local and fresh produce and meats. The steak breakfast was awesome:) Gigi and Alexis are the sweetest, friendliest and best waitresses around. They have watched out for my father in law over the years and I can’t say enough about them all. Great job Sunshine Café! 5 stars hands down!

I was in town visiting family from Minnesota in March. We stopped in for breakfast at the Sunshine Café. I had eggs, sausage, and hash browns. I know that sounds simple but I would disagree. I like my eggs basted and seldom get them cooked correctly. My eggs were the most perfectly basted eggs I have ever had. The hash browns were crispy and delicious. The sausage patties tasted fresh and were cooked perfect. If you are into the breakfast places that slop a ton of food on your plate this is not the place for you. If you like things cooked correctly I would highly recommend the sunshine Café.

I came here for breakfast with the fam for a small bite to eat. When you first enter this establishment, it is quite welcoming. For a town full of well aged people, it is great to see a young face serving tables and working in the kitchen.
The bathrooms are small but suit clean. For larger people, it might be tough to move in and about.
The service was quick and to the point. Our table was serviced quickly but it was also good to see other tables being waitered with the same ferocity. Kudos to that.
The food was good. I ordered the Cathy Joe; a scrambled egg mixture of spinach and ground beef served with a side of hash browns and toast. To be honest, a bit on the pricey side of 13 bucks but well worth it. I appreciated that they didn’t use salt in the food.
The pancakes are very fluffy and hit the spot in the right way. Delicious.
All in all, recommend this as a spot with a quiet atmosphere, good quick service, and a good place to carry a conversation while grubbing on some food.

Café seemed popular with local patrons when we walked in about 10.10am on a Monday. Their organic (drip) coffee had a more subtle flavor to it. My wife and I shared an omelette, which was ample for us (I think they charged a dollar or two more for that). The Sunshine Omelette had onions, tomatoes, cheese and small pieces of dried bacon. Latter was perhaps too dried, and perhaps not freshly fried. Hash brown portions were also provided. We opted to share as we were heading for golf immediately after. And we usually find a single portion too much for our usual appetite.
They decorated their walls with local artists work, including promoting some school art contest.
Service was friendly and prompt.

Short version: The blurb at the bottom of the menu says that you’ll want to share their «generous portions». I left still hungry.
Street parking only. Service was good, coffee was OK and I never had to ask for a refill.
I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast, hoping that I would have a big breakfast to help me get through my busy day. I was wrong. The food covered a little more than half of the platter it was delivered on. The only way I’d share this amount of food is if I brought someone with me that hadn’t eaten in four days, and even then it would have been tough. If you’re gonna tell folks that your portions are big, and serve this amount of food, you should be prosecuted for fraud. I’d rather pay a little more and not have to go home and eat a sandwich two hours later because I’m still hungry.
If you want to serve senior citizen sized portions, have a senior citizens menu with separate pricing, and let folks that work hard for a living have the food they need to start their day, and charge accordingly. If you get it right, your business will be busy. Get it wrong, and you’ll know it.
Until their portions get bigger, I’m not going back. Don’t come here if you’re really hungry.

Breakfast done right! Basics of breakfast for me… waffles, hollandaise, sausage gravy, steak and eggs, they just kill it. Flavor excellent, cooked perfectly. Nothing out of the ordinary or particularly creative just solid breakfast that won’t disappoint.

Best biscuits and gravy in town. Love this quaint little restaurant right in town. Sometimes have to park and walk here, but that doesn’t bother me. Small restaurant, kind of a tight fit but the food makes it worth it.

The German sausage with the «Pig Out» was delicious, as is their thick cut bacon. The waitress who helped us was a lot of fun to talk with and the meal was better than expected. I highly recommend this place for a good meal when passing through the area.

Is it difficult to get potatoes to Sequim? Onions? Is there some sort of blockade or giant troll on Hwy 101 that makes getting food to this diner a costly or risky expedition? If not, there’s absolutely no excuse for the prices, which are ridiculously high for this very average diner food.
I had a very average and rather thin French dip. This comes with either a small side salad or a side of fries. $ 12. I had the side salad, which did come with a good bleu cheese dressing, then added a side of very ordinary French fries. For $ 5. Imagine paying $ 5 for a box of nothing-​special fries at the drive-​thru.
The menu warns that their portions are so large, they understand if you want to split your plate with your dining companion. $ 2 to split a plate, or double what I’ve ever seen at any other restaurant. I LOLd when I saw my middling, thin, $ 12 sandwich, and the side salad that took me all of four bites to eat. Large portions, eh? For a six-​year-​old, maybe.
Check total, with just water to drink, was $ 18.48. At the Apogee in Renton, near where I used to live, the exact same order costs $ 13.

This was my first visit to the Sunshine Café in Sequim. .. and it’s guaranteed to be my last.
I ordered the chicken sandwich, grilled, off the lunch menu, which is listed as a house specialty, and my wife ordered the «Gigi’s scramble» (scrambled eggs with tomatoes and mushrooms with hash browns and bacon, along with a cup of clam chowder. We both had a raspberry lemonade to drink. All of this together (2 entrée dishes with sides, 1 soup, and 2 drinks) came out to over $ 40.00, a ridiculous price for what we got, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
I am honest to God perplexed as to why people are giving this restaurant 4 and 5 stars. I see these reviews and wonder to myself «What are you people so happy with?» The clam chowder came out first, which we both tried and came out with a better taste than some other places in the area, but still far too thin. Soon after came the main dishes — the chicken sandwich that I had was (and I am not kidding) a Jack in the Box grilled chicken sandwich, right down to the prepackaged frozen fries on the side. Oily, fatty chicken with lettuce and tomato that were NOT fresh on a fast food burger bun. I swear to you, I could go to Jack in the Box, get a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and put it next to Sunshine Café’s and it would be the SAME. DAMN. THING.
The scrambled eggs were watery and tasteless, the hash browns were uncooked on the inside, and all of the butter that should have been used for cooking the dishes was slopped on the inside of the toast on the side of the dish. The ONLY part of the dish that could be considered passable was the bacon. While eating through the dishes, a single word kept coming from both of our mouths — «damn.»
The chef cooking the food is another serious point of contention. From the time we walked in to the time we left, all the way through making our meals and everyone else’s, I think that this man had confused himself for a damn cow. Chewing, chewing, and chewing, it brings the Violet Beauregarde Oompa Loompa song (…“but it’s repulsive, revolting, and wrong — chewing and chewing all day long. .. the way that a cow does”) to mind while watching him, blowing bubbles and chomping while preparing our dishes and giving them to the waitresses. My back was to the chef, so I did not see him until we got up to leave, but it made me feel sick to my stomach to know that this person’s MAN SPIT was all over my food.
We actually had to leave after our meal, and go to ANOTHER restaurant down the road to actually get something good to eat to get the taste out of our mouths from the crap that we received from the Crapshine Café. The owner of THAT restaurant shares the same fryer oil depository as the Sunshine and is consistently disgusted by the quality of their oil and the quality of their food. He actually grimaced when we told him that we just came from the Sunshine Café. It’s the kind of place that Gordon Ramsay should have done on Kitchen Nightmares and ripped a new one to, screaming and ranting in the kitchen while diners are in the dining room hearing about how the kitchen is utter crap.
In short, after much consideration, we have decided not to endorse this restaurant or return again.

We love eating in small town restaurants. We saw the Sunshine Café as we drove by. It was exactly what we were looking for. It wasn’t lunch hour but there were a few other patrons at other tables. We were served our drinks immediately by the hostess. However, we began to worry when the waitress took quite a bit of time to even take our order.
Once we ordered it didn’t take long to get our food. Our food? Well, it was very good. We actually loved this place. It was friendly and just what we hoped to find. We’ll be in town a whole week and there is a good chance we might even go back for dinner next time.
We would have given five stars for the type of restaurant had we not had to wait so long before our order was taken.

I’m not exactly sure what to make of this place so I’ll just tell it.
My first visit was without incident. We came, we ate, we left.
My second visit was a bit confusing. I came here with a flamboyantly gay man (the first visit was also with a gay man but he was not flamboyant so people may not be able to tell that he was gay) Anyways, the waitress as if we were a couple. He told her that he was gay. She frowned and said,“well, that’s not right.” Ok, we ignored that comment because we didn’t want to ruin our trip so early in the morning.
When came back with our food she asked me if I spoke Japanese. I told her no. She says how can you be Japanese and not speak Japanese. Simple, I’m not Japanese.
So now I have conflicting feelings. I understand that this a small town. Maybe they are not exposed to many Asians and Gays and they just don’t know any better. Who knows. However, this person should not be expressing their personal opinion on matters such as this (homosexuality) WHILE they’re working and representing the restaurant because it really does affect the perception of that place.
To end on a more positive note, their pancakes are really cute. They come with a smiley face and say «Welcome.» ^_​_​^

Terrific café with fast, very friendly service. It’s fairly expected offerings in terms of menu and quality, but the standouts are the fresh ground coffee and fresh baked pecan rolls, and pancakes with smiley faces cooked in. A pleasant breakfast experience surrounded by local old timers.

Such a great little café. The breakfast was fantastic. Breakfast sandwich hashbrowns biscuits and gravy everything was perfect. Nice strong hot coffee. Extremely friendly staff. Would recommend this place anytime.

Well, let me put the record straight, I am not that crazy about this place. There, its done. The food is nothing special and the service is fine (but not that you would notice if you wen’t thinking about Unilocaling the place). The downtown location is pretty cool and the place is clean as a whistle but the story darkens from there…
First off, I of corse have my usual complaint about the hours of service (this is a universal problem in Sequim). 7am is closer to my lunch time the breakfast so I waited a half hour for them to open and they wouldn’t even let me order of the lunch menu!
Second, I am reading a lot of reviews raving about the huge portions of food, this perplexes me because after eating two full orders I was still wanting more.
Third, the food is really um… I will just say not good. It tasted like it had been freshly picked form the selves of Costco.
And lastly, the price was rather high for a Café that leaves you still hungry and and with a lackluster taste experience.
Bottom line: not the worst in town but just not worth coming back again and again.

I loved this place — the portions were great, the food just like I remembered my Grandma to make. When I go to café’s like this I don’t expect nor do I want 5 star cuisine. I was a good, hearty breakfast that I am not afraid to dig into — or mess up my plate with. You know what I mean? Some breakfasts are so pretty it’s a shame to eat them:)
The cinnamon rolls were fresh out of the oven — still warm.
The bacon and ham were thick sliced and literally were a party in my mouth — I am one of those girls that likes to dip her bacon or ham in the french toast syrup — YUM YUM YUM.
Not a coffee drinker so I can’t tell you if their coffee was good or not — it smelled good though. The tables are like you’d find in Grandma’s kitchen, very homey.
And the best part is one of their oldest waitresses has been there for many many years and man she is sassy and hilarious:)
I totally would go back!
It helps to call for reservations, the place fills up quickly.
And yes, it’s kid friendly, mother approved.
