I’ve now been going to Act Now for over a year and loved every workshop I’ve taken. My consultant Mackenzie is amazing and I always feel like she helps me find the best workshops for me!
Can’t wait for my next one!

Reasons to love Act Now:
1. No matter what kind of acting you’re into (comedy, drama, commercial, voiceover,…) Act Now offers a bunch of options. I stick mostly to comedy, and I’ve met some of the top sitcom CDs in Hollywood. This is huge for a new actor trying to break in.
2. Actors get a personal consultant they can speak to. This means fast responses, up-​to-​date info on classes, and the ability to find out about deals and specials.
3. Up to 4 weeks meeting with the same CD. This is especially good for people who don’t audition well. You get a chance to grow and get more comfortable in an audition setting. Great practice. Plus, you become a familiar face to the CDs and don’t get lost in a sea of actors.
4. Many deals that lower the financial burden of doing CD workshops. Last night I did a great workshop with a top comedy CD and only paid $ 35. Well worth it!

I just got finished with the Amy Reece workshop and wow! What a relief to know that some casting directors are this informed, understanding and in tune with the actors job and what we go through. She had expressed a knowledge of acting from her heavy theatre background and what a precious gift act now has provided.
My consultant Dufflyn promptly informed me of her attendance one month before hand and when I arrived I was greeted with a friendly parking attendant for complimentary parking in the garage beneath the building. Stress free. Very thankful for my experience.

I’m an actress and have been doing workshops in LA for years now and Act Now is hands-​down my go-​to workshop studio. What I like about them and what sets them apart from the others:
1) They screen both their actors and their guests so you’re getting the cream of the crop on both ends. Some casting directors now only do workshops exclusively at Act Now because of the high caliber of talent and the professionalism of the studio.
2) Workshops are usually 2 – 4 weeks long instead of a one-​and-​done setup. This is much more effective when you’re trying to make a lasting impression. Even their one-​day workshops are usually intensives, so again you’re getting in front of the casting director much more than you would at other studios.
3) I find with other studios you always have to bring in your own material, which can be effective, however at Act Now it’s usually a mix. I find it very helpful to be assigned material sometimes so you can work on material the casting director sees fitting on you, material that they’re familiar with and material that they like to see, etc. The format is always different at Act Now, which also keeps it interesting and you’re more likely to be in the room with all of the actors (at least some of the weeks, if not all), versus waiting in the hall. I find being in the room to be both educational and more enjoyable!
4) The staff is SUPER friendly!!! You just feel good when you’re there. Also, every actor is assigned a personal consultant who is like your own personal cheerleader/​life coach. It’s nice to have someone looking out for you, to have someone who sends you emails to let you know when a casting director you’re targeting is doing a workshop and having someone who you can effectively strategize with, etc. I never feel pushed to take workshops and I never feel like I’m bugging my consultant no matter how many times I email her (thanks Becca!)
5) It works! The success rate at Act Now is crazy!

This is a great adult workshop facility that brings in working casting directors for actors to showcase their talent. Casting directors give great feedback which helps you to improve your skills and get in that audition room! Highly recommend any actor to come take a look. IF YOU AREN’T NETWORKING YOU AREN’T WORKING!

Act Now was recommended to me by an actress in Texas who’d lived in Los Angeles four or five years ago, and they’re still doing a great job. Without Act Now I would be flailing around for casting director workshops without any idea of where or why to commit my time and money. Act Now provides a specific consultant for you who runs you through a cold read, thoroughly reviews your headshot and resumé, and generally assesses where you’re at career-​wise. With this information both you and the consultant can decide where to focus your energies (time and money) in terms of casting directors that visit the facility. Casting directors’ resumés run the gamut from the simplest police procedurals to network comedies to indie films, and Act Now provides an outlet for you to review and anonymously critique each workshop when you finish. My consultant (Becca) is the bomb, but I’m sure the others are great too. At the very very least, I recommend giving Act Now a try –especially if you are new to Los Angeles.

This biz is ALL about relationships. Oftentimes getting an audition or a role depends more on WHO you know, rather than WHAT you know. Develop your «WHO LIST» at ActNow! It’s your recipe for success!

I have taken workshops all around town and have wasted my money. Until Act Now.
I stumbled upon this gem of a place because I had an audition here. I was immediately smitten by the tongue-​in-​cheek tone of things written on the white board and by the water bottle station. THIS was a place where people knew how to have fun and not take themselves too seriously.
My consultant is Glenda. She never tries to oversell me and helps me with my target list of CDs. She emails weekly and gives me a personal call or email if I haven’t taken classes in a while, and I appreciate that. I get wrapped up and forget to sign up for things… and considering this business is all about relationships, I can’t afford to get lazy about getting into the room with my target CDs. The best thing about Act Now is that the classes are several weeks long, so you get a lot of face time with the casting directors, which I believe is the difference in being called in (which I have been called in!).
Love Act Now… and the latest job I have booked as a result of meeting a fantastic CD there!

I’ve been in LA less than a year, and I’ve taken workshops at 4 different studios. By far, Act Now has been the best. My three-​week class was «classroom style.» Since I’m so new, it was extremely helpful to watch actors at different levels interpret the same material. The benefit of Act Now, however, is that all the actors are pre-​screened. The worst actor in the room was still very very good. I also love that you get paired with a «consultant.» In a town where you can bleed out cash in the name of workshops, the consultant helps direct your money toward your specific goals.

I initially had a negative experience with Act Now after setting up an appointment with a consultant who didn’t arrive at my scheduled time, but I was very pleased that after posting my review, the company’s owner responded promptly and addressed the situation.
I’m looking forward to having a much more positive experience in the future.

I’ve been going to Act Now for casting workshops for almost two years, and it’s my go to place. They take the work seriously and screen their actors to make sure they’re serious, too, which has helped build a great reputation with casting directors. My consultant is Dufflyn, who is regularly checking in and updating me on new CDs that fit my goals! Having someone like her to help guide me– with the experience she has in the business– is so valuable. Act Now is a great place for people at all stages of their career, but it’s especially great for actors are trying to get started in film and TV.

I have generally steered clear of CD workshops because I think it seems so scammy– and often IS, around the city. A million actors here, a million people ready to sign up to take their money. Act Now is not this kind of place!
Mackenzie is awesome. She sat down with me, really took an interest in my career and my goals, and gave me tons of great advice and guidance. She’s a total doll. I love that she’s a working actor– I’m always wary of advice given by those who can’t book a job, for obvious reasons. But girl is doing her thing. Love that.
My first workshop was fabulous. I love that you can take repeating workshops, where you go to the same CD many weeks in a row. You get to really build a relationship and show them what you can do, and it doesn’t all rest on one 3 minute scene you have with someone who may or may not be on your level acting-​wise. My consultant wrote me after with feedback from the CD in addition to what I got in the room– they don’t just zone out for 2 hours and leave, people!
Highly recommend.

CASTING DIRECTOR WORKSHOPS ARE SCAMMING YOU TO TAKE YOUR MONEY…
is something I used to think when I went to other casting workshop places (The Actor’s Network, Actor’s Key, etc). When I was referred to ActNow I was skeptical that it was the same thing, however, I am truly and gratefully appreciative all the help that DUFFLYN has been giving me with the selection of workshops. When they said «consultant», I kind of brushed it over as someone who would constantly be selling me ‘ActNow Products’. But after my introductory Skype session with her, she broke down to me what’s about to go on hiatus, what’s currently casting, what strategies to aim for now and aim for later, I truly have a different appreciation for casting director workshops…
And I have DUFFLYN to thank for that.
Is it pricey? Yes (I’m not gonna sugar coat it for you)
Is it worse that other places? Absolutely NOT!
If I look back on what my funds went to, it would be to have Dufflyn in my corner guiding me and understanding my needs and wants for my career and not OVERSELLING me on workshops that will not help or aid my career. I hated having to do all the research for hours and hours trying to see who woul dbe best for my to put me to invest in. In Hollyweird, we are so scared about who is going to scam us or steal our last hard-​worked dollar. But Dufflyn is someone who has showed and PROVED to me that she is all about seeing me rise… and it feels pretty good to know that at least one person is my corner, and I’m glad it’s her.
Oh crap, now I sound like a ‘Dufflyn Commercial’. Just a huge disclaimer, I have only known Dufflyn for about a month and a half now, and the only time we met was via Skype (not like that guys, dont be nasty). Don’t you hate that when something is awesome and you accidentally sell the crap out of them. Damn you ActNow! lol but I love ya’ll and since I’m selling I might as well keep it going… If you don’t want to fork down the $ 30-​$ 50 per workshop just yet and want to exhaust all free options, check out her blog

She gives some pretty cool tips for the most advanced actor to the person who just got off the greyhound from Middle of Nowhere, Iowa and decided they want to be an actor.
All in all, I’d suggest going to 3 workshops to get a real grasp of how they operate and how YOU feel. Yes, this is all for YOU and they totally get that!

This is a terrific place to cultivate relationships with casting directors. Two or three week sessions with the cds are definitely the way to go. Whether you are working on cold material or prepared scenes, Act Now creates a friendly and warm environment to practice your craft. Every actor is assigned a consultant who recommends workshops based on what is needed to advance your career. I am grateful to Dufflyn who connected me with a terrific cd for a three week class. Soon after the workshop was complete, I was called in for an audition with the same cd. Looking forward to the next session.

Act Now is the best! You have to audition to take workshops and therefore casting directors take actors who go there that much more seriously. The classes are longer (over weeks or sometimes months) so you can build stronger bonds with the CDs. The best part about Act Now, though, is the free consultants. My consultant Kimberly is always there to help an actor in need, whether it’s about what casting directors are right to meet or if you just need a good ol’ career pep talk. Workshops are a bit more expensive here than at most places, but it’s definitely worth the money! So go audition now!

I love Act Now! Not only for the fact that they offer one week, two week, and three week workshops, but also for the personalized service and advice I get from my consultant Elizabeth! I highly recommend Act Now to actors who are serious about building those industry relationships!

Of all the various studios I’ve taken workshops at, Act Now is by far one of the most professional, and has resulted directly in the booking of work. I credit Act Now for the co-​star I booked on the television show Bones! I find the consultants to be responsive and super helpful always and they do a good job of screening actors so that you are always in the room with other actors who are professional and talented, which makes a difference when you get paired up with them to act in front of the casting directors. I highly recommend this studio to any actor wanting a quality place to network and develop their craft and professionalism!
