American Tire Depot – Sherman Oaks

Will provided great customer service. I appreciated him taking the time to provide me as a customer great service. Would definitely recommend this place for all your tire needs.

Went in last summer on a recommendation from the nearby Autozone when my battery was dead. American Tire Depot told me I needed a new alternator as well as a battery, plus now labor. It was going to cost a lot more than I originally assumed I’d be spending for a new battery. Fine, what do I know, they did the job in the time promised and my car worked again, so I was satisfied.
About a month later I had an ABS problem, it kept spinning traction as if I was on ice or something. Went in because I remembered they weren’t as packed, schedule-​wise, as my regular mechanic. They told me it was the computer module that needed replacing and that the grinding noise I heard was the module buzzing because it was faulty. This seemed a bit odd so I thanked them and waited for my normal mechanic, who confirmed it was the ABS system and had nothing to do with the module. So I was already kind of anti-​American Tire Depot, but let it slide (meaning I didn’t go to Unilocal) and just remembered never to go there again.
However last night my battery died, which baffled me because it was so relatively new and I hadn’t done anything to drain it (no lights left on, no sitting in the car listening to the radio, etc). Figured it was maybe a loose connection or something. AAA got it started and I took it to my mechanic, where it promptly died again. He could barely even get it jumped again, and after poking realized that the battery was a cheapo knockoff one and that the alternator — supposedly brand new — was clearly an old, repainted used one that ATD inserted.
Needless to say, they might do OK on tires because you can see them and that’s what’s in their business name, but I would definitely steer clear if you’re looking to have real repair service done on your car.

Excellent and fast service! Had a nail in my tire that didn’t go through and they put air in all my tires and let me leave free of charge. Great employees.

On 12/​29/​2015, I went into to get my tire patched. The shop was extremely busy however Will and Armon were willong to still take my vehicle. I did have a long wait time and there were some issues with the tire sensor when completed and had to go back another day. Again the guys were extremely nice and helpful, as well as Jason. They weren’t able to fix the sensor went to Nissan and the tire shop reimbursed me for the sensor. I have been to the shops 3 times and the front desk is always super busy a well as the phone keeps ringing. Armin and Will both have a smile on their face each time I have entered and willing to remediate the issue with. the sensor. I wasn’t looking for a free service/​part, however the niceness of all three of the guys working there over looked the issue and the long wait. I appreciated the humbleness and the guys being apologetic. Thank you!

Great prices, great service. Will is the best. If you need tires, don’t bother looking elsewhere.

I came in, as a walk in, with a flat. Ben at the front desk answered back to back to back phone calls with q smile on his face. He was very patient and efficient. Being able to patch the tire, I didn’t need to buy tires, but when I do, I’ll be sure to come back!

I came to American Tire Depot knowing full well that my car hadn’t been serviced in awhile and that they might encounter some problems I wasn’t aware of. Sure enough, I had leaky gaskets which was causing quite a smell and 4 tires that were a few miles away from blowing up mid-​drive. I was greeted and treated by Will who, along with his crew, gave a thorough inspection of my car and we were able to get down to what was absolutely necessary for repairs and what I should get replaced as soon as I can. An oil change, tune-​up, 4 new tires, new gaskets, spark plugs, and an alignment and I had my car out of the shop within the day and was home by dinner time. Will’s honesty and concern for my safety made a lasting impression and I am quite satisfied overall with my experience.

Came here after I drove over a big rock I didn’t notice and put a huge crack in my tire. Decided to replace all 4 since another tire also had a bulge on it.
They offered me a cheap set of all season tires and even matched an even lower price I found for the same tires online. They also gave me discount on insurance for the tires and honored the discount offered online.
They swapped the tires and took care of alignment in about an hour. There’s a waiting area, but Starbucks is walking distance away on Van Nuys and Burbank if you want coffee while you wait.
Overall, very happy with this ATD location and will definitely come back for my next set.

I went here to get a tire fixed and they were wonderful. They were polite and they fixed it in 20 minutes. I will definitely come back here again.

Great customer service! Jon went above and beyond to help me great a great new set of tires just in time for my Thanksgiving road trip.

First I went to the Burbank location and they didn’t have the tire I needed but told me Sherman Oaks had it. On my way there I decided to call and double check and turns out Sherman Oaks didn’t have the tire but said they would order it for me. The next day I went to Sherman Oaks and they ordered the wrong tire but said they would order the right one and send it to North Hollywood. Here I am today and they didn’t even mention anything to this location. Luckily they had the right size tire but wrong brand.
Also they told me it would be $ 58, forgetting to mention the other $ 40 I would have to pay for installment and other fees.

These guys are awesome — Arman and the store manager took really good care of me. I hadn’t purchased tires in like seven years. My hatch needed four new puppies after nearly 60k and two prior front replacements.
Arman was patient and really searched for me. He took the time to really dig and called to make the arrangements. He scheduled me in for after the delivery that same day at about 5pm.
Upon arrival he notified me that my tires hadn’t been delievered. So instead he would be giving me better Hankooks than the one’s I agreed to purchase. They are Optimo’s which my hatch had originally came with dealership stock. So score.
More importantly these guys are down to earth and friendly. The manager runs the front desk with efficiently and care. Thank you for an easy peasy tire purchasing experience!
Now off to burn tire, vrooooooooom!

I’ve been back to this location several times now with all 3 of my cars. Whatever issues they had in the past have all been fixed. No problems at all with getting my cars serviced in a fast and friendly way. They also honored not only their coupons, but a competitors coupon! I’ll continue to go back to them. Thanks for cleaning up this place! :)

My go-​to oil change spot! Always gets my oil change done same day no matter how swamped they are, and they’re usually busy since they have great prices. People need to relax. Go grab a lunch while you wait! Thankfully, I live close enough to just drop the car off and come back later. If you really don’t want to wait longer than 15 minutes for your oil change, go somewhere else and pay $ 50 more for your service.

Got a good deal and a good customer service — would return.

I came at 9:30 am to get four brand new tires. I was told it was going to take 20 minutes.
I now sit here at this very moment at 12:30 pm and they told me it’s going to be 15 more minutes.
On the plus side, the office has air conditioning.

I had a terrible experience. They gave me different diagnosis for my car, finally they said it was the computer, this was friday, Monday at 1:00pm, I called they didn’t have the computer yet. At this point my car was 1 week at the shop.
I said, forget it, don’t touch my car, I sent the car to another mechanic, and guess what. it wasn’t the computer, My car is running, and I saved $ 450.00.

Update (⁶⁄₄): I took a star back because the wheel well cover on my Mini has since fallen off WHILE I WAS DRIVING. We’ll see what they say about replacing it now — maybe they’ll earn that star back. UGH! So much trouble for 4 tires and an alignment.

Been here since 2p. Told it would take 2.5 hours for new tires and alignment. I’ve been sitting in the no wifi sitting room for FIVE HOURS!!!
They forgot to do alignment then guy at counter said I shouldn’t be upset it’s taken 5 hours because I «got a free alignment.» No, actually you quoted the alignment in the price I paid. If you forgot it not my fault so don’t say it’s free and don’t think I should be «grateful» I caught it and made you do it. And it should not have been left to be done last after all the other people who came in after me.
Before they FINALLY did the alignment, I had to get something from my car and noticed the wheel well, the cover/​molding wasn’t placed properly. They were going to give me the car like that which is annoying. I had to ask one of the guys put it back on.
2 stars only because I was able to haggle the price for 4 tires down and it was the only place that had tires for my car.

Avoid American Tire Depot!
I took my son’s car to get tires. Just tires. We were told the car needed brakes, shocks and a lower control arm bushing. It would also need an alignment because of the control arm work. $ 2,000.00 and two weeks later, the car’s in worse shape than when we brought it in. We’ve returned it twice. The car still pulls to the left, and there’s a significant Antilock Brake System issue … every single time we brake. On two occasions, we were told it was fixed and to pick it up. Neither time were the brakes fixed.
Finally, a week ago, we test drove it with the mechanic in the car, and he said he heard/​recognized the problem. We were very relieved, and waited for the call to say they had fixed it.
We waited. And waited. And then we called them. They didn’t know what it was.
As of last night NOTHING had been done to fix the brakes they had damaged. I’ve emailed the corporate offices about a complaint, and received no reply. I spoke with Albert last night and he said he’d speak with his district manager and get it fixed. I thought maybe the DM would call me but not so far.
This morning, we were told it was all fixed (by someone new, yet again) and to come pick it up. We were given a song and dance about panic braking (which is NOT the case) and dirty ABS sensors which have been fixed. So my son got behind the wheel of his car and I followed him toward home. Four blocks from American Tire Depot, he pulled the car over. It’s somewhat better, but the grating and springy trigger of the ABS still happens almost every time you brake the car.
It’s ridiculous and dangerous. It is not safe now. We’ll probably have to take the car to a dealership to repair the horrible work done here. What a huge waste of money!

The worst service ever. The gentleman running the customer service area is not knowledgeable about anything. I had 4 tires delivered and they took forever locating the shipment. Then, they broke my lug off. Never have I ever had anyone break a lug off to get to my tires. Not impressed at all. And now they are trying to sell me shocks and struts. This place is crap, go anywhere else for service and car care.

Since my car is a hyundai genesis I brought it to the dealership up the street and they checked the shocks and struts and did not find anything the people at tire depot trying to rip you off
