History

Established in 2012.

Pure Barre was founded by dancer, choreographer and fitness guru, Carrie Rezabek Dorr. Carrie opened her first studio in the basement of an office building in Birmingham, MI in 2001. With no initial clients, staff, signage or even a bathroom, Carrie has grown Pure Barre in to the company it is today.

In July of 2009 Pure Barre became a franchise and has locations nationwide.

I absolutely love pure barre Sherman oaks. It’s a whole body workout. I sit down a lot for my day job and going to pure barre is an absolute must to feel better and sleep better. The instructors are amazing. They are very kind, knowledgable, and effective in engaging the whole class and offering modifications as needed. I usually take classes with Lindsey and sometimes with Jamie (the owner). I can’t say enough good things about pure barre Sherman oaks!

Staff is super friendly and helpful as I am a beginner. Clean studio and equipment, great up-​beat music and you will definitely be sore the next day. This class is good to increase flexibility as well as work on core muscles.

Jamie runs a tight ship here. The studio is clean and inviting. The business of getting in, out, and through classes is efficient. The classes are kept small so the instructors can give everyone personal attention to correct your technique or push you to challenge yourself. I stay very active and in shape and typically prefer more intense fast-​faced workouts like Cardiobarre or hot yoga sculpt classes, but PureBarre left me pleasantly sore! I love the mind-​body puzzle of isolating the exact muscles for each exercise. Great full-​body work out and really supportive staff!

From the instructors to the parking, I can’t say enough about this amazing place. The instructors are very well trained and ALWAYS take the time to ensure students are performing each position correctly to avoid injury and to reap the benefits of the whole workout. My body is already toning back up after the long holiday. I am always greeted with a friendly face when entering and that’s not just from the staff. The clientele and overall atmosphere is very positive.
There is on street parking with meters and a valet in the back. With validation, it only costs $ 1. Cant beat that!

What a great workout! Jamie and Anna are amazing and very encouraging. I am a trainer myself, but this is a new style of training to me. The instructors are always checking my form and fixing it which I really like. Thanks for the burn ladies, I will be cursing you from next door :)

the class size is perfect for a very personal experience. The instructors walk around and check body positions of each person, to be sure they are doing the exercises correctly. I enjoy the warm atmosphere that the employees provide.

Great class; great studio. I very much suggest this PB studio for anyone new to PB or anyone that has done it before.
The teacher (Anna) is very well informed. I appreciate her time and attention. She spent time after the class helping me with injury modifications and suggestions.
Parking is easy and it is not too crowded on that block.
The only issue I have with the studio is during the first part of class I can’t find a spot where the lights are not too bright in my eyes. But, I am probably more sensitive than most people.

Anna L you’re the greatest! The first time I came to this location was back in March 2015. I’ve tried and fell in love using the class pass trial. Just recently, I’ve joined class pass to become a full member and wanted to try this class again. Coincidentally I took one of Anna’s class not remembering her name then but remembered her face and fell in love with Pure Barre.
The moves are sweat approved and muscle affective. I’m used to heavy weights and crossfit training at the gym but I come to Pure Barre to get the same amount of sweat experience. But, it’s not dealing with heavy weights nor power burst. The class helps me trigger smaller muscles that support bigger muscle groups and elongate my muscles.
I’m using my class pass wisely with Pure Barre!

I love LOVE Pure Barre! I started coming here over a year and a half ago because of a Groupon deal– and then I became addicted. The changes that happen to your body after this class in just a couple of weeks are amazing. I had never found a class that worked and toned my muscles that I liked, until I came here. Now I come at least 3 times a week. Also, the enviornment is laid-​back, but motivating and the staff is just the best!

Tried this studio out through class pass. Such a great and fun little studio. Super fast paced class which is good because its a challenge. If I ever actually keep up once I will know I am doing something right. The owner is super friendly as was the instructor. Cant wait to take my next class!

I have so many postivie things to say about Pure Barre Sherman Oaks, I don’t even know where to begin. I just recently completed my 100th class so clearly I’m a big fan of this studio. Jamie, the owner, is a delight and the perfect cheerleader – her friendly encourangement has defintiely made me decide to make a class last minute instead of just skipping it and «working out tomorrow.» All of the instructors are skilled at pushing you to work hard without turning the atmosphere into some hardcore bootcamp, competitive situation. That’s not to say this class isn’t hard. It can be SO hard. In the best way.
The barre classes improve your strength and flexibility while also increasing your endurance. The teachers are mindful of making sure students maintain proper form. I’ve been injured doing other acitvities or classes but after pure barre I’m only sore, not hurt. I highly recommend this place!
