I ordered the Pad Thai and found glass in it. Obviously this wasnt a great first impression. I was looking forward to ordering from here since there was so many great reviews.

Sad to report that Sabun Gna is no longer in business here :(totally bursted my bubble! They had the best tom kha soup and pad see ew… they will be missed. The new owners just re-opened a lil over a week ago and called the place SEED now I believe. they’re still a thai restaurant, but it’s all VEGAN. And unfortunately for them, this girl needs her meat! ;)

I often rate my reviews based on value and taste. This place really gives you good flavor for a good price. I’ve ordered take out from here several times and have never been disappointed. The people are very nice and always include a free Thai ice tea with my order. Things I’ve ordered that I enjoy: Tom Yum w/shrimp, really tasty The Pad Thai and Pad See-ew The spicy beef salad, great The Pineapple fried rice really good The Chinese broccoli w/beef is really good! My wife really loves the Panang curry w/tofu. Well, this little«hole in the wall» is a hidden gem.

I came here the other day with a couple of friends after we hit up the batting cages. As we took turns in the cages I used my nifty Unilocal apt to find some good eats in the area. We found Sabun Gna with 4 stars! Can’t go wrong, right? The service was okay, I think the lady got impatient as we read over the menu quite a few times. I eventually settled on pad see-ew pork. The dish was decent size for $ 7 bucks, but it was way too salty for my liking. The pork was also a little dry. I’m not sure if i’ll be back, but it was worth trying at least once.

Nice little restaurant in a strip mall on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Van Nuys Blvd. Parking can be tough to find and be wary of the«15 min only» spots outside the restaurant. I had the Panang Curry w/pork($ 7.50) plus a side of rice($ 1.00). At first, didn’t think you’d have to pay for rice since you can’t eat the curry without anything else, but no matter. The curry was a little watery, but had a nice spice(asked for medium spiciness), basil, peanut and coconut flavor. There was plenty for my 2 cups of rice to soak up, and then some. There was plenty of pork, along with peppers, peas and bean sprouts along with the curry. We also had the pad see-ew($ 6.99) with chicken which was pretty good, large portion, but on the salty side. It’s a good spot if you’re craving thai and happen to be in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it.

Gyu-Kaku down the block had tok long of a wait so I spent half the money and had some nice Thai food here instead. The service was a bit forgetful of special requests but overall the food was good and the prices were fair. I had the pad-se-ew with mixed vegies :)

Decided to check this place out based on the Unilocal reviews, so first of all THANKYOU to all those who have reviewed this place previously. My first impression was, «this is the smallest restaurant ever»(I can use quotations b/c I sent it in a text to my friends who were meeting me there). As I’ve said in previous reviews, I LOVELOVELOVE spicy food. I ordered the spicy eggplant with shrimp and a small sticky rice. I ordered the eggplant«as spicy as possible» and I was a happy girl. It was a fire in my mouth and I loved it!

So, I read the reviews in here and thought I’d be in for a pleasant experience… Well, it’s not that the food was BAD, but… there was a hair in my husband’s food, which is about the worst thing I know(besides roaches), so… Anyway, decent fried rice and all that, but… nahhhh…

Absolutely my favorite thai place in Sherman Oaks. It’s right near work for me and I order from them almost everyday. I mean who doesn’t love a thai ice coffee for 2 bucks? And their fried rice is fantastic, and also just 2 bucks…4 bucks for a yummy pick me up lunch, can’t beat that. Their Pad See-ew is my favorite, I’m desperately trying not to order it every twenty minutes. Oh and last but not least the girl who works at the front is adorable. Love her!

One of my favorite places to grab food for lunch. Just down the street from my work. Parking can sometimes be annoying though, especially during the lunch rush. I sometimes will just get their already prepared entrees to go, 2 item combo. I like their red curry and the spicy minced beef with basil. On their menu, I really like their roast duck curry and their roast duck combination. I guess I just really like duck. Their pad thai is also pretty good, not too sweet. Haven’t tried anything else on their menu yet. Oh and their egg rolls are delicious. Also like to come here to grab a thai tea every now and then. $ 2 for an afternoon sugar rush is much cheaper than Starbucks.

I gave this place a 5 not so much because of the quality(even though it is delicious) but because of the quantity and the price you pay. This little hole in the wall isn’t very busy so you will always be served promptly by the nice asian lady. I like the Spicy Thai Fried Rice and the Orange chicken here is yummy because its not soggy like some places, but it has a light crunch to it. So give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

It’s good. Pad See Ew– a solid 4 star meal. Pad Thai– a bit too sweet in a way… not for me. Service is good, it’s a small mom n’ pop style place, most Thai restaurants are. The waitress is nice, and helpful. I have no complaints. The only drawback is that portions are not huge, they are decent but not huge… which is fine. The veggies are great, the noodles were cooked perfectly. This is basically my go to Thai place right now. Parking is shit on weekends, so be warned.

I’ve seen Sabun Gna many times when I am in this area. When I gathered with my friends for a Laker game they relied on me for food recommendations. With my on reconnaissance and some Unilocal research I found a place I had wanted to try in Sabun Gna. I dropped by only to pick up a menu, so I didn’t see much of the inside. The space looked clean enough but i was intent on getting food delivered later. The person who greeted me seemed very nice and appreciative. Later on, our group of four ordered a bunch of dishes. The group aren’t too well versed in thai food so we relied on some of the standards like fried rice, pad thai, rad nah, red curry, etc. We threw in a couple of things like extra spicy papaya salad to change it up. We ordered about 9 dishes. I admit we were hungry and we ordered with our stomachs. The food was good. It was very accessible and tasty. It wasn’t mind blasting like some places in Thai Town/Hollywood, but it was very good. I didn’t expect 5 star thai. I enjoyed the food very much. The group really enjoyed it as well. I can nitpick but I’d rather not. I understand the level of cuisine they provide. I would gladly come back because my dinner was tasty. I do rave about Sabun Gna for a few things. The delivery was accurate and fast. They specially wrapped and separated each dish in the plastic bags. Our food was piping hot and fresh when we received it. A very nice touch. Another touch that made me smile(and earned some stars) was: the delivery person stated they were very appreciative for ordering so much food, so the owner included some dumplings and a round of thai ice tea for FREE. I thought that was a grand gesture. Sabun Gna has won a fan for the little courtesies.

Nice little spot off Ventura. Went in on a Tuesday night and there were actually a decent amount of people inside as well as take-out orders. Very small seating inside — but it works. I thought the pad-thai was heavy on the noodles and not enough beef, although my fiancée loved the Tum Kha soup and said she would have it again. We would return — — oh. also we had the egg rolls — I thought they were great. Good prices all in all too. Very friendly service!

This place is probably the best Thai I’ve had in the valley. Granted I can count the number of Thai places I’ve eaten at in the Valley on one hand but still, this place rocks. I enjoyed the food and the staff with the old management and the same goes for the new management as well. Very reasonable prices, quality dishes, and free Thai tea while you wait won me over. While the food is great, I still think there is a little room for improvement on a few of the dishes. Overall though I completely recommend Sabun Gna. Inexpensive, friendly, and tasty. I’m kinda bummed I moved farther away from this place.

This amazing Thia place is under new management so ignore all the older reviews because this place is THEBESTTHIAFOOD in the SFV. I cannot even tell you how happy I was to find this little whole in the wall. if you love Thia food like me this is some of the best I’ve ever had. Their Tom Yum soup is so delishes and so fresh. They also only use white meat and I love their cashew chicken. I’ve eaten Thia all over LA and this by far is my absolute favorite. if you’re a Thia lover you have to try this place. I even have my picture up on the wall hahaha

I love running to Sabun Gna for lunch when I have the time. They give you plate options, picking 1 or 2 options with your choice of steamed rice, fried rice, chow mein, or a mix! I love the chow mein here. It’s actually better than a lot of Chinese restaurants’. I usually walk in and ask for half & half(half chow mein & half steamed rice), because the curries MUST be eaten with rice, since the chow mein has a flavor of its own. Then I’ll either get one of the yellow or red curries, prik king, and/or their Spicy Mint Leaves with GROUNDBEEF! Amazing. So tasty… and the best thing is… if all these dishes accidentally get mixed up together on your plate… it tastes even better! Yes… The flavors just compliment each other so well, you could probably throw it all in a blender, drink it, and it would still taste amazing. Their pad thai here is alright too. A little bland for my taste, and doesn’t have that sweetness that I usually love in pad thai. But if that’s how you get down, then this may be the one for you. Aside from that, the texture and freshness of the ingredients are pretty damn good. Now… The PRIKKING! The first time I have ever had prik king was from this restaurant… and I’ve been hooked ever since! Who would’ve thunk that I’d ever crave green beans? I usually get it with fried tofu too! I could go vegetarian with this… During my prik king obsession, I started ordering it at every other restaurant… But no other place beat Sabun Gna. The beans were so green and fresh, the tofu perfectly fried, and the curry paste had the perfect consistency. It’s a spicy dish, but deeelish! I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could. It’d be 5, except I need that Pad Thai.
