My husband and I had a great experience working with South Land Remodeling. We’d never done a renovation (we’re first-​time home buyers), so we were a bit nervous about what to expect. When we met Oren, we were very impressed by his attentiveness to our goals for the renovation, and he was mindful/​respectful of the fact that we were on a budget, so he gave us some ideas on how we could approach certain aspects of the renovation within our budget.
Throughout the renovation, Oren and his brother David were very responsive, informative and helpful. They answered all of our questions promptly (we had a lot of questions), while being patient and understanding. They were also able to fit in some relatively minor last-​minute requests while still keeping the project on schedule.
I will say that we had a few hiccups with some of the workers in the crew not being as mindful/​respectful of our stuff as they should have been, and there were also some instances where areas in the house had to be painted multiple times because (perhaps) some of the crew members were not paying much attention to their work. That was a bit frustrating. However, when we brought those issues to Oren’s and David’s attention, they addressed the issues immediately.
The renovation cost more than we anticipated, but the quality of the work is excellent, and we feel that the money we spent was worth it, particularly since Oren and David were great to work with.

Oren and David were great. Completely re-​painted and re-​finished the wood sidings on my craftsman style home. Repaired a lot of old wood to make it look like new. Took their time to do it right and did all touch ups and extra little things to make it look polished. Never complained or asked for more money. I’m planning on hiring them to do my kitchen and bathrooms next.

Very good results but some advice
We remodeled our kitchen, kept our cabinets and floors but replaced most of the remainder. The results were very good. Our original cabinets were from the 60’s, but of very good quality. We liked the color, so we opted for refinishing. The result was exactly what we hoped for. Otherwise, we replaced a tile countertop with quartzite, ceramic sink with a stainless one, new cooktop, new oven, new spot lighting, and new hood. Overall the work took a month.
Our contractor was Ilan Mizrahi and he was easy to work with — always staying in touch about schedules, etc. The subcontractors, except for the electrician, were jacks of all trades — but very good. There was a problem with the countertop fabricator, who ignored the cutting instructions that I gave him, forcing us to use a half sheet that we had intended for later use. To be fair, he and Ilan made good of the loss with an additional piece of stone.
I originally selected South Land because I liked Ilan and his price was the lowest. After a discussion about what «cabinet refinishing» actually meant, his quote matched the others. Clarify everything!
I would recommend South Land Remodeling with the following suggestions: (1) make sure that everything you wanted is included in the contract, (2) keep your own checklist of things to be completed, (3) plan to be home every day that a worker is at your home — they had questions more or less continuously; I don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t been there, (4) if there’s wallpaper damage as there was in my case, insist on a professional paper hanger, (5) if you’re installing new appliances have them installed by the seller (as Ilan suggested); it could help with problems later on.

From the moment I contacted South Land Remodeling, we were treated like royalty. Not only did they promptly respond to my request for a quote, they were very communicative and answered all of our questions with a great «can-​do» attitude. They gave us a quote within a day after seeing our old kitchen, and said that they would complete any requests we have. Not once did they say «No» to our requests; they always found a way to accommodate us. Never once did we feel like our little kitchen remodel was «not good enough for their business», like a few other contractors that I won’t mention…
We had our kitchen countertops and backsplash replaced (along with patching up some holes in our kitchen ceiling), and some spackling done in our garage. Not only did they do these repairs as promised (in two weeks), the workmen were clean, prompt, courteous, and highly-​skilled. They even let us use whatever countertop material that we wanted (a specific kind of quartz) and gave us plenty of ideas and support throughout the entire process. Never once did we feel like they did not care about our remodel. The foreman (David), checked in on his guys every single day throughout the job, and answered all of our questions. The process was very smooth, and we were able to stay in our home the entire time. They even went the extra mile and replaced some tile that was a different color (not their fault at all-​the place where we got our tile had mixed in different colors in our order), and went to the store for us whenever we asked. That is amazing service!
All-​in-​all, not only were the service and the workers great, our kitchen is beautiful! The guys did an amazing job, and the attention to detail that the workers had was breathtaking. The grout was the perfect color, they edged lines for the backsplash using metal edging, they even painted and sealed the area under the countertop to make sure that the color was even. They took so much time and care into making sure everything looked right-​all within the allotted time. Just simply unbelievable work! I literally cried when I saw how beautiful it was. I was 100% happy with the result (and that is saying a lot, since I am very picky and have very high standards).
I am so glad that I contacted Oren about this job. We will now use them whenever we have any additional home updates needed. We will also recommend them to our friends that are looking for an amazing contractor. Thanks a lot, guys!

South Land Remodeling was one of 6 contractors I messaged on Unilocal and the only one to take the job for my condo bathroom remodel (I needed a new toilet, shower/​tub/​sliding glass door, ceiling fan, lighting, sink, fixtures, minor mold remediation, and paint). I needed to get this done in a relatively short time and all the other contractors were booked up for months. Oren replied immediately and came out to evaluate my bathroom within a day.
Once seeing my bathroom, Oren had a quote to me that same night. The price quoted was $ 5,500 and length of the project was 3 – 4 days, which I thought was impressive given how my friends’ bathroom remodels have gone. When I told my friends, they said «add $ 3,000 and double the time, that’s what will ACTUALLY happen.» False! Oren and his team were very professional, they worked well with my schedule, and were on time every day. The project was finished in 4 days and I am VERY happy with the work. During the process, I was not put out of my home, it was very livable during the 4 days of work. I upgraded the toilet, fixtures, shower/​tub, and sink and so the total cost ended up being $ 6,000.
I highly recommend South Land Remodeling and they will be my go-​to contractor from here on.

Oren, David and Luis are gems. They are all great to work with and all work was performed as contracted. I can’t recommend them highly enough. My next door neighbors were so impressed that they will be contacting South Land for their project. I have another project down the line, and I will definitely be calling them. We recently bought a 1928 Spanish style home that had a fix-​it list a mile long. Oren and his crew were fantastic. During the job we had additional requests — Oren graciously accommodated our changes and adjusted the bid fairly and promptly. We had the entire interior of the house repainted — it looks like new. We also had recessed lighting installed in four rooms and had all of the old electric rewired. His electrical crew did a fantastic job. The previous owner did some work on the house that was not up to code and not permitted. Oren expertly managed all the code requirements and old permit corrections. We already have some future projects in mind and will definitely use South Land Remodeling again.

Remodeling. Construction. Contractors. When these words are discussed at your local party about what you currently have going on at your house, most people will cringe when they first hear them. Everybody hears about the horror stories associated with work being completed in their home and no one looks forward to it when they have to have a job done. Back in the day, one was relegated to word of mouth. Does your friend at work know a good contractor? What kind of work did your cousin have done? Was the contractor’s price fair? Did he get things done on time at your neighbor’s house? Luckily with the advent of the internet, the digital word of mouth stretches far and that’s how I came across Oren and his crew.
My fiancée and I needed to convert a downstairs bedroom into a home office which entailed taking out a closet and installing semi-​custom cabinetry on both sides of the room. Also included was installing a new sliding door that went to the exterior in addition to tiling the floor and miscellaneous electrical work dealing with lighting and power sockets. We also had tiling done surrounding two of our fireplaces but also had to build a custom TV enclosure in the master bedroom. Our job wasn’t the most difficult in the world but there definitely was customization to be performed and we had to have the right crew.
We had about four or five contractors come over to the house to provide estimates and the thing that I noticed immediately was how responsive Ilan (Oren’s right hand man) was. Incredibly responsive in providing the bid but listened intently to everything we were requesting. His customer service is excellent and the skills remained throughout the entire job.
Once we decided to go with Oren and Ilan, they were prompt in starting the work. One roadblock we ran into (and there’s ALWAYS going to be a roadblock with construction… just accept it and embrace it) was we were having a difficult time finding the right countertop for the home office. We went to several stone yards where we had a question at one of them and Ilan offered to meet us there and help us decide if the slab would be big enough. No complaints, no run around, nothing. Ilan showed up and helped us out and was happy to. Unfortunately, we had no luck at those yards. He then recommended we check out another yard in Van Nuys for the slab we were looking for. It was there that we found the exact stone we were looking for and called Ilan. He said «no problem, I’ll take care of picking it up and I’ll handle the cost when I pick it up». Very easy. Unfortunately, we chose a slab that was just a bit too small and he arranged to return the slab back to the yard and have it exchanged for us for a bigger slab. Again, very simple and no hassle with Ilan. It was an honest mistake but everything was handled perfectly.
Every phone conversation with Ilan was so simple, polite, and easy. The workers he had at the house were prompt, extremely courteous, and very clean. They were an extension of Ilan and Oren. Customer service is their specialty and forte.
I mentioned that we had some tiling work done surrounding the fireplaces. We had chosen some tile that was $ 80/​sq ft (!!) and was intricate to say the least. Of course, we didn’t want to have to purchase more than we had to so Ilan put his best tile guy on that job who performed perfectly. He did a great job with the correct amount of materials. Ilan is very detailed and specific and knows how to shine with his customers.
Cost. Everyone is understandably concerned about cost. I can say with certainty that our job was within our expected budget and what we considered to be an extremely fair price based on numerous other estimates. Southland isn’t going to be your low bid, which is something that you don’t want anyways. You’ll get low bid work, trust me. Been there. But their prices are excellent and the workmanship and customer service you will receive is EXCEPTIONAL. And that goes so far: taking the headache out of contractors and construction. They are truly exceptional and will make life so much easier for you when you’re going through a remodel.
Working with Ilan and Oren was a pleasure. We have more jobs on the horizon and we will definitely be working with them again. I’m very well read when it comes to researching who’s going to be best for the job so I feel like I’ve taken the guesswork and heartache out of the equation for you. You’re welcome. Ilan & crew did a great job. They completely remodeled our kitchen to a beautiful finish and ahead of schedule. Honest & Upfront about costs and pitfalls. No surprises. Since we had such a good experience we’re having them look at other rooms now.

After researching online, we met with 4 different contractors in September before deciding on Southland to remodel our master bathroom. Even though the estimates were comparable, we immediately liked Ilan and his approach. Since we had never done a remodel before, we didn’t know what to expect but Ilan was always available to answer questions and provide helpful information. There were definitely snags along the way but Ilan and Oren made sure to resolve them and reassure us they would not leave until we were completely satisfied with the job. When we were not happy with how the floor grout color came out, they offered to redo the entire floor which is what we did and the end result was great! They even took care of other small jobs in the house (aside from the master bathroom) that we needed done which we really appreciated. Milton and his crew are also fantastic… very professional, respectful and left everything clean at the end of the day. We absolutely love our bathroom and would highly recommend Southland to anyone looking for a remodel!

We just completed a renovation of our bathroom with South Land Remodeling and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Oren and his highly skilled team did a fantastic job from the moment of consultation all the way to the end. The process took 3 weeks and this bathroom being the only one in the condo, we were extremely weary about losing the usage. The team was well aware of the situation and did their very best in making sure the remodel timeline went punctually. We only lost the usage of the toilet for one day out of the whole process!
The team was always punctual in arriving on time in the morning and most importantly they treat your home with respect. They always made sure to clean up as much as possible at the end of every work day.

Great service and support from Oren and his sub contractors for remodeling certain things in our new home. If anything went wrong over the past months, Oren was kind, courteous, and fast in helping us get it resolved. We had half of the floors refinished where there was hardwood, and the rest we had them install new flooring. We were really impressed at certain things like the patching of our old in-​wall AC units (3), and the removal and patching of an old in-​wall/​floor furnace. We also had a new central air and furnace installed to replace these that is working very well so far.

I hired South Land to renovate my 1950s kitchen and teeny tiny laundry area after meeting with numerous contractors. I really liked owner Oren and his right hand man Ilan. They have a terrific team of workers and pay attention to detail from start to finish. I purchased my own floor tile, backsplash, appliances and (thru them, the beautiful quartz countertop). They got the whole job done in approximately 6 – 7 weeks. Price was a bit high but most likely due to patching up 3 windows, relocating plumbing, taking down some short walls, relocating water heater to outside, etc. Overall, very happy to recommend.

Oren was absolutely a wonder to deal with. Super easy. His guys came in and out, super pro and respectful. Would definitely use again!

We decided to completely remodel our bathroom, from the ground up. Ilan came & bid the job, and after seeing pictures of their work & awesome reputation, we were sold! We decided to have them completely remodel our bathroom. Once we made the final decision to go with them, they were able to start right away! They had to completely gut the whole thing, and start from scratch. We’ve never done a project like this before, so we had a *lot* of questions. Ilan was always available to answer any question, big or small. This made all of our decisions (picking out tile, paint, fixtures, etc) so much easier. When they first started, it turned out that we had some long term water damage under the house from a previous plumbing problem. He told us about it right away, we had them fix it & they continued the remodel. So from the day they started, gutting the whole bathroom, doing the extra repairs, then building the new room from the ground up, they were completely finished down to the very last detail, in less than a month! It could not have gone smoother, it looks amazing!

Ilan went above & beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. We’re so happy, that we’ve decided to have them start our second bathroom next month!

We recently hired Southland Remodeling for a few projects including: Adding a window to a bedroom, complete bathroom remodel, complete fireplace remodel, and re-​tiling the entryway. They won our business by meeting us at our budget and delivered exactly the results we were hoping for. Ilan and Oren were very professional throughout the whole endeavor and if we had any issues with something, they would gladly correct it. Ilan was also helpful in explaining how things would look after I had trouble visualizing something, like the pattern of the tile.
What really put them over the top in my book is that 4 weeks after the project was done, Oren called up to follow up and ask if everything was still to our liking. I had noticed a few small gaps in the grout on the flashing around the shower but it never really bothered me too much. But since he called, i mentioned this to him, and he sent one of his guys over to take care of it. Oren’s guy also helped install a water regulator in the shower after we thought the water pressure was too high after using it for a month. (A fault of the house, not the construction.) We are pleased with everything and would recommend to friends and would use them on future projects.
I have attached before and after photos of the fireplace and bathroom jobs, the work speaks for itself.

What can we say about Oren and his team… other than they are AMAZING! Last year we decided to do a major addition to our home. We were in a small 2 bedroom/​1 bath, and about doubled the size of the house, adding a master bedroom with bath, a laundry nook, a bedroom and a garage. We paid for the addition with an FHA home improvement loan.
Everyone’s heard horror stories about contractors and though we had a great referral for Southland, we were still apprehensive. They were incredible every step of the way. The project was completed 1 month early (5 months total) and under budget. Because it was an FHA loan there was a lot of confusing paperwork but Oren took it all in stride. He is great to work with. He is incredibly professional, and very even tempered… perfect for us. His work crew spent the final 30 minutes of each day cleaning up the area. It was also tidy when we came home at the end of the day.
After the project was completed we brought them back to change the old windows and install a heat and air unit. We recommend them to all of our friends. They are not the most expensive contractor you can find, but they also aren’t the cheapest. They are worth every penny. We’ve definitely found our contractor.

We were very pleased with SLR! Our hillside Silver Lake home needed foundation repair along the entire front of the house as well as replacement of the entry stairs (a full set of stairs, not just a couple of steps), which also meant rebuilding a portion of exterior wall and restucco. Oren was easy to deal with and did exactly what he said he would do. The contract and payment schedule was clearly spelled out. They started the job when they said, his workers showed up every day on time, cleaned up after themselves every day and they finished within a day or so of scheduled completion (in spite of one day of rain). I was extremely impressed with how efficient and how well-​calculated they were with their time and scheduling. Once the stairs were demoed, it was obvious the damage was more extensive than we realized so the cost did go up, but Oren worked with me to find a workable solution to stay within my budget. SLR did the work right the first time — they passed every inspection without a single correction. They matched the stucco and color matched the paint so well that everyone thought they had painted the whole house, not just the part they rebuilt.
We will absolutely be using SLR again for the next phase of our home remodel and SLR is now one of our preferred vendors that we recommend to our real estate clients.

Oren is fantastic. We hired him in September 2013 to do a remodel of our master bathroom on a very tight schedule. The project was a complete tear-​down and rebuild, including significant plumbing changes, electrical and construction of a new shower. Everything was completed on schedule and at the highest level of quality. The cost was very reasonable, and Oren always discussed any necessary changes with us and gave us options to choose from.
What we enjoy the most about working with Oren is his pleasant demeanor, professionalism and competence. His crew is also top notch in every area, and completely trustworthy and respectful. Every night when we came home from work, our house was clean, locked up and all of the work materials were stored neatly.
So, after we finished the master bath, we asked Oren to come back to remodel our 2^nd bathroom. The project has just started and we’re looking forward to another great job.
