The Arlington

Love this place!!! They never disappoint. Just had brunch. The breakfast burger was so delicious! Along with the bottomless mimosas. This is my favorite place in this area.

First time here and wasn’t intending on going. The sushi place across the street was closed and it was the next obvious choice. It was surprisingly full for an off season Saturday at 1130, a good sign. I was promptly seated and taken care of. They have close to 20 draft beers on tap and a good selection of house cocktails. The menu is reasonably priced and should have something for the more fickle eater. I ordered the Cuban panini. The bread is perfect, thin but not tough with a great crunch that doesn’t rip your teeth out. The pork was savory and tender. The pickles left a little to be desired but they are fresh. In the future I’ll make this the destination instead of the fall back option.

Great meal! Clams were great and scallops were fresh and delicious. The bread and butter were made here! The key lime pie was delicious as well! A great find during the restaurant off season on long beach island.

One of our favorite restaurants on the island, open all year, and a best of the best every time. Consistently excellent and innovative. Can’t wait for the owners to open another one in Barnegat Light…

A good year round Restaurant with a good bar area and great Happy Hour. We go a lot in Off Season with our 3 year old son. Has kids cups. From bar snacks to sandwiches and burgers the entrees are good and a wide selection. Also love to bring home the house cured bacon

Went here last night with my husband. He was told that this was a great restaurant. Now it’s been here for awhile. Very disappointed. They have one girl working the floor. Right from the start. No one is at the door to seat you. So you stand around looking like a dummy until the waitress seats you. I would like to say that our waitress was a very pleasant young lady. But she was doing the job of three people. Her attitude was terrific. She talked so fast that we had a hard time understanding her at times. Could be because she was so busy. Now the bar was packed. So that might be the place to go. The menu is strange and expensive. But we were told the Hamburger was delicious. It was nothing special. I didn’t want French fries and they didn’t offer anything else. My martini was served in and old champagne glass. Just not happy with this place. Glad we went here before we took our friends. Won’t be back.

They did a nice job breathing new life into the old Bayberry inn. The past décor was way beyond a make over. The owners have experience and the food shows it. Inventive and fresh. I have had swordfish, salmon, oysters, scallop sashimi. All good.Tons of craft beers. Great place.

Great food, beer and service. The beer selection is extensive. We ordered off the weekend brunch menu and the eggs Chesapeake and breakfast burger were very tasty. Friendly and helpful staff.

While I drink more wine than beer, this place has one of the best tap selections in a 50 mile radius and I do enjoy the offering. Recommended for any beer lovers. They also close off the bar with some french doors so during a rowdy Sunday football TV romp, it will not disturb the diners in the next room. The dining room plays much better in the winter as it is dark with some roomy space between the tables. I came here for the first time on sunny warm day in August with my inlaws and we walked out. With the cranked AC it was freezing in the restaurant and the last place I wanted to be was in a dark brown room with blowfish wallpaper while a beautiful breeze and sunset was unfolding outside.
Their menu is hearty, carnivorous and better suited for winter. I would put them the in the southern BBQ genre — more vinegar than Kansas City sweet and smokey. Even the butternut squash soup had a vinegary tabasco thing going on. The house smoked bacon tasted very real – not full of nitrates, but a little swiney.
So I had the duck and my wife had the crabcakes. Duck was very good & done a perfect medium as I had ordered it. I give it a «good» because the vinegar thing was bit strong for a duck breast but it was still executed with skill — nice sear on the outside and salted just perfectly.
My wife was not so lucky with the crabcakes. They were presented well on the plate. I had a bite when she was close to finishing and knew immediately they were spoiled and tasted like they were made 3 days ago. I would have never let her eat them had I tasted them straight away. They had an ammonia flavor and a mealy texture like fish gone bad. I was barely able to force down a bite. My wife vomited 4 hours later after we got home.
I hope the Arlington can improve their game as most of their offering is a cut above the competition — especially in the Winter on LBI. I’ll be at the bar sampling some drafts but not so hungry tonight, thanks.

Brought visiting friends in to try a few beer flights. The first bartender appeared to be new — very nervous, but he was also very nice. We ordered beer by number and learned too late that there were 2 #18s on the menu. When I brought it to the second bartender’s attention, she replied «Yeah, we know.» I then asked, since she did not offer, if we could replace the #18 we didn’t want with the #18 we did want. She removed our glasses and replaced the beer without saying another word. There was no apology, no «oops», nothing. My one friend who happens to be a brewer at one of the larger breweries on the menu (which was why we stopped there) was completely turned off and didn’t want to stay for another flight.
Strike 2, Arlington. Your beer selection is amazing, but being treated as though your mistake was our fault? Not okay.

We arrived late on a Friday night, around 9:45pm and were seated right away. There was four of us to start, and a fifth joined us shortly after.
The food is just ok. The homemade fettuccine dish was good, but slightly under salted. But, my allergies were out of control that day, which can definitely affect taste buds! The wine on the other hand was wonderful.
As for dessert, I’d suggest the salted caramel one, not the banana bread pudding (it was on the dry side.
The décor is lovely and the service was very attentive.

Great restaurant for a quiet meal or a special occasion. You can really tell that a chef is in the kitchen and not just a cook. We enjoyed an Asian-​inspired swordfish steak and well-​prepared filet mignon with beef fat Yukons. Check out the happy hour drink and food specials; but come early as the bar gets full. And, they do have a kids menu with nice choices.

Our dinner at The Arlington last night was delicious. We had a 6:30pm reservation and we were seated immediately. Amy our waitress was great. Very knowledgeable and accommodating. We never had to ask for more water or extra napkins etc. My husband is an IPA guy and he not only enjoyed all 3 of the beers he tried, he purchase a Growler to go. I loved the Shrimp & Grits. My crab cake was good, not great. My husband had the pork belly appetizer which was amazing and the local swordfish was great too. My son loved the papardelle but thought the steak was a tad dry. My Mom had the swordfish and the scallops and enjoyed both. We have eaten here each Summer since it’s been open and have never been disappointed.
One tip… bag the dessert and run across the street for a Shore Good Donut.

My wife and I had been here a few times since they opened and we were big fans, specifically for happy hour. Good craft beer, good selection of apps and dollar oysters. This last visit turned us off for good. I don’t usually write reviews but this last visit compelled me.
We got in just as happy hour had started and ordered beers and some oysters and mussels. There were only 3 groups of two at the bar and one arrived right after us. We waited 45 minutes for the oysters which came out on a tray of half melted ice. The other couple who seemed to be regulars got their food 20 min before us. When we finally said something to the bartender (a trainee it seemed) he asked our original bartender Alycia who could care less and blamed the kitchen. Needless to say we cancelled the mussels and paid the bill. I was obviously upset and no apology was given and in fact we were almost made to feel bad for asking. This place obviously caters to people on vacation and they seem to not care at this point being the only game in town.

Delicious. Great 2 man band. Very Hipster. Classy yet rustic décor. Happy Hour till 7 pm on a Sunday. Nice surprise. Fresh homemade bread. Great specials!
Had the swordfish and scallops. Market salad refreshing. A nice place for a date or family group. Will definately be back.

Came here on a Monday night in the summer. It was busy, but not crowded. We had a pretty big group (~15 or so), and were seated promptly /​waited on attentively. Overall, the wait staff was extremely courteous, friendly, maybe a bit too bubbly for my liking, but hey, better than the alternative.
The food was pretty good. Not mind blowing or anything, but we ordered a little bit of everything, and nothing was bad. They offer a decent drink selection, along with a handful of «specialty» cocktails — I feel they are a little bit too proud of themselves on these, the speech we got on how «special» their G&Ts were was a little over the top, but hey, they weren’t bad. Service was attentive but not especially fast.
This is one of the better choices in the area. A little bit pricey for what it is, but you should enjoy yourself and your meal.

We are so happy to have discovered this wonderful restaurant in LBI. For starters the hostess was welcoming. The décor is warm, coastal & rustic. The entire staff during dinner service was attentive and friendly. Best part? The food! I tried the local oysters, scallops with polenta, short ribs prepared Korean BBQ style and the crispy chicken skin. Everything was delicious, including the kids chicken fingers. Looking forward to returning soon.

Beer selection very wide but had somehow got the impression that they had their own. Flight glasses were on the small side from what I’ve seen elsewhere so the 12 bucks for 4 different beers was not impressive.
Dinner was ok. The paella was undercooked and had to be sent back. Waitress said that that is how it is made. Al Dante is one thing. But this was undercooked. Have been to Spain even and this was not that!
Scallop special was good but the sweetness of the polenta was a bit overpowering. The scallop could have been a little bigger too — seemed like 2 scallop cut in half to look like 4.
Stone bass was decent. Tasty. But the artichokes were a little awkward. Seems like it needed a more sophisticated sauce.
Short ribs got the thumbs up but portions were too small.
Kids burgers for the little ones were dense. But no complaints from the kids so I guess it was ok.
Bottom line, nothing special. Ok. But I think you’d do best doing bar food here and skipping the dinner.

I was recently at LBI on a Friday night and decided, with my friends, to stop by the Arlington for a drink. What a swanky, urban bar. So un-​LBI. They have an extensive tap selection. I had a delicious sour beer from VICTORY and my companions had an IPA from Virginia, a stout from Yards, and a pils. All were very good. Service was prompt. I’ll definitely return,.

This is a really interesting restaurant. It’s easy to write the story line: zealous young people from the big city take over a beautiful old country restaurant, sink in money to make it even more beautiful and create an exciting modern menu that will make their establishment a destination for other young people from the city. (Disclaimer: I like totally just made this up.) To get a sense of the Arlington, you might want to read the posts on
, which announce events as they’re popping up. In particular, look out for Tap Takeovers, nights when all the draft lines are taken over by a single brewery. On those nights, you’ll be able to sample many beers that are otherwise hard to find on draft.
This project is pretty much a success! The beer menu is fantastic and already makes the Arlington worthy of a detour. I ended up with the Allagash American Wild Ale and was delighted with this choice. Quite a few wines are available by the glass as well — there’s really something for everyone.
The dinner menu has a some items that remind you that you’re on LBI; for example, there are oysters and clams on the half-​shell. But you’ll see pork belly instead of soft shell crab, and braised short ribs with bok choy and kimchee — presumably not a traditional Island dish.
I had the market salad to start and thought that it was tasty and well composed. The kale salad across from me was described as «too acidic» by my partners in crime.
My main dish was a bass of some kind that was served with an assortment of vegetables (potatoes and artichoke, in particular) that I were undercooked in a trendy way. The artichoke could certainly have been a bit softer! The service was friendly but the pacing of the dishes was not completely effective — it took a long time for the main dishes to come out after we finished our starters.
I felt that the Arlington was worthy of four stars, but I asked my fellow diners to weigh in and got a bunch of 3’s around the table (in part because of the kale salad). I definitely think that the Arlington is worth checking out. If you spend more than a few days on the Island and want a change of pace, you should definitely schedule a visit.
