The Lucky Baldwin’s Pub in Sierra Madre has substantially increased the quality of it’s food in the last few months. There have been a number of positive changes since I was last there several months ago. It’s always been a great place for beer lovers, but for the longest time, the food left a lot to be desired. I could always count on an excellent selection of English, Irish, European and specialty beers, but would avoid ordering food. That has all changed. The owner has made a lot of improvements, starting mainly with the cooking staff. In the last few weeks I have gone in several times, at different times of the day, and have been VERY impressed with the food. The new cooks are fantastic. Everything from the fish & chips to the burgers are consistently perfect. The fish tacos, served for Taco Tuesday, are exceptional, especially as compared to other places that have a «Taco Tuesday.» The only improvement they need to make is to warm the tortillas longer, as opposed to just heating them, so that they are less likely to fall apart as you pick them up. In general, the dining establishments in Sierra Madre leave a lot to be desired, leaving residents and visitors with few options. If Lucky Baldwin’s is able to maintain its current quality level, I would recommend it for people just interested in having a good meal, either for dine-in or take-out. And that’s saying a lot for an establishment that serves«pub grub.» If you have never been there, go check it out. If you haven’t been there in a while, give it another chance. I think you will be impressed.

went here on Halloween for a beer and a burger with friends. We were all happy with the food, the drinks and the service. One of my buddies lives there in the neighborhood, he goes there often and he knew the most important thing you have to know about this place. Don’t take the first table on the left when you come into the place, at least not the chair at the wall. That chair is directly under the air conditioning unit and that sucker drips. If you take that chair, make sure it’s dry before you sit down, otherwise you’ll have a wet ass. And then move it to the say, if you don’t want a water drop on your head every other minute ;)

A nice little Irish pub that has a whole slew of specialized beers. If you buy the souvenir cup the waitress gives you a discount whenever you bring it in. The place has a fun atmosphere, especially during football games.

Went here on a Sunday for a cold beer and a sandwich. I ordered a beef dip and the gf ordered a medium rare burger. The beef dip looked as though it was leftovers from 4th of July and absolutely disgusting. GF’s burger was still raw! We both had to send it back and awhile later they brought us two average burgers at best. No real apology and not even a comped draft beer while we waited. Guess the five star reviews here are after folks have had six pints! Don’t get it. Don’t know why we didn’t just head to Sena in Monrovia. While they don’t have quite the beer selection, their food and overall experience leaves LB’s far behind. Will definitely not be back!

Like Lucky’s in Old Town Pasadena this one has yummy beer selections and a pretty good sized menu. This is nice location if you wanna get away from the noise and hustle and bustle of big city living :-p Will update once I’ve actually tried the food :-) Just ordered the Noël dark Ale.

I came in on a Friday evening with my boyfriend not knowing what to expect! This location is more of the relaxing side, which I love! Right away I we were taken care of by our waitress, her name was Jazmin. She informed us what specials they had and the happy hour deals they had going on. We ordered our drinks, with her help of course she asked us what style of beers we like and she was confident of what we would like. I got the scaldis and my boyfriend the enjoy by, amazingly tasteful! She knew how to keep us happy and she did an amazing job checking up on us. Service was great and fast. Will be coming back again for sure.

I decided to stop by Lucky Baldwins for the first time on Saturday, and I was not disappointed! My server Kristiana was amazing! She was very attentive and knew exactly how to make her customers smile, she was very sweet and helpful in deciding what to eat, and her knowledge on the beers was very helpful too! Long story short, the food was amazing and the staff is equally as amazing. I will be sure to come back!

Came here specifically for the traditional English breakfast. It was alright, not as good as the real English breakfast from the UK but definitely made me reminisce. My bf got a Reuben’s sandwich which he claimed was not as good as the ones at Wexlers in LA. It wasn’t the best experience but I would definitely consider returning to try out different menu options like the fish and chips and other Belgian beers.

I already commented on my check in but I had to say that the chicken and veggie pie was better than anything I’ve ever eaten. I think it’s responsible for curing my cold. Either that or the best waitress I’ve ever had… Eve. She was SOOO sweet, SOO helpful and so knowledgable she made my night. And I’ve been waiting tables and Bartending for a long time, so I’m really picky. Although I live in Hollywood, I’m coming back here on the regular. It doesn’t get any better than this!

It’s a pub, so it’s not vegetarian-friendly by nature. But they do have a veggie burger option. We got there right before the end of breakfast, so I got eggs, toast, and potatoes. The Brits know how to do eggs. They need to teach me the secret to that fluffiness. I loved their oily, crispy potatoes. They have delicious french fries too – the thick kind. I stole several off my husband’s plate. Really, though, the food is secondary to the beer. Great selection. I judge pubs by how many beers on tap that I haven’t tried. They had several. And they even have Pliny, which is hard to find.

Came here for lunch in the middle of the week with co-workers — The place had a handful of customers but the service was almost ridiculously slow. I would understand if the waitress was really busy and showed some hustle, but she took her very sweet time to do everything. 1) We really had to catch her eyes when we first walked in to figure out if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated, 2) The food(1 meat pie and 2 ruben sandwiches) took forever to come out and was ho-hum, 3) It’s a small place, but it took us having to wave our arms and call her over to get her attention, 4) I ended up just getting up and asking her for the bill because I knew it would take a long time if we just sat there waiting to be serviced, since she was very calmly wiping down beer glasses behind the counter as we were trying to get her attention. I love how it’s decked out with English pub décor, and I would have otherwise loved to come here at night for a beer and food despite the food not being that great — but the poor service will make me not come back again.

My favorite of the three Lucky Baldwin’s locations in Pasadena. Pliny is almost always in stock, service is sassy and hilarious, food is hit or miss like the other locales(to be honest I’m here for the beer), and one of the few if only late night options in awesome Sierra Madre. I recently moved pretty close to this location, so I’m hoping to make this place part of my regular routine. for a good selection of beers without the Old Town crowd and pricing.

So it was St Patrick’s Day and one of my coworkers said she wanted Corned Beef and Cabbage. I wasn’t quite sure who would be serving an Irish menu and I started checking out all the pubs in our area. Luckily, Lucky Baldwins did have a St. Patrick’s Day menu, which ran from Sat 3/14-Tues 3⁄17. Lucky Baldwins had 3 locations: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Lucky Baldwins Pub — Raymond Ave in Pasadena Lucky Baldwin Trappiste — Colorado Blvd in Pasadena Lucky Baldwin Delirium Café — Kersting Ct in Sierra Madre The Delirium Café is located on the northwest side of Sierra Madre Blvd and Baldwin Avenue. It’s right next to Mother Moo Creamery. We were a party of 4 and as soon as we stepped through the doors, we saw a couple other customers sitting. Nobody greeted us and it took a few minutes before a lady behind the bar told us we could sit anywhere we liked. We chose a table. The two sitting on the bench mentioned that they had to sit with great posture as the backrest was totally vertical and a bit uncomfortable. One of my coworkers was running a bit late, but wanted me to ask about the Irish Stew. I asked him what was it in and at first our male server wasn’t sure and said it might have shrimp in it(which wasn’t the case.). The menu stated beef, potatoes, and carrots. I informed our server that I would be ordering for our 4th person. After he dropped off our glasses of water, he never came back. We were ready to order for about 10 minutes and we never got a chance to call him over. Finally one of us had to almost literally grab him and let him know that we wanted to put our order in. We ordered the following: 1 Irish Stew $ 13.95 2 Corned Beef & Cabbage $ 25.90($ 12.95 ea) 1 Fish & Chips(½ order) $ 11.95 Colemans Mustard $ 0.50 Tax $ 4.71 ==================== TOTAL $ 57.01 It didn’t take too long for our food to arrive at our table and by then our 4th person arrived so it was perfect timing. One of my coworkers asked for mustard for her corned beef and he brought it out in a tiny plastic container. When we were reviewing our bill, they charged us $ 0.50 for the mustard which we weren’t informed about. I thought the food was decent. The corned beef was a bit too salty for my liking and the dish could have been without the Béchamel sauce. However, the fish and chips looked really tasty. I thought our lunch experience was just okay as the service could have been better. I would come back just to try some of their regular menu items and maybe give an updated review. 61⁄100 Reviews for 2015

This location has been here for years and I remember stopping in years ago right after they first opened, yet I wasn’t privy to the Unilocal life yet and did not think to get in on it until years later. Anyhow my sister moved up to Sierra Madre a few years back and as busy as our lives seem to be we still try to carve out some time to hangout. My hubs and I were in the area visiting friends and running errands, after we were all done I decided to call up my sister and see if she wanted to grab a beer and chill out. Its been a crazy tough year for us as a family and I wanted to remind her that sometimes you just have to let go and have fun. We left our car at my sisters and as a group we all walked up there for a few cold ones. There was space on the patio and it was such a lovely night so we grabbed it and started off our evening. I love the patio, it may be a bit small but it does the job of keeping out the elements. The interior of the bar is awesome. It has the feel of a small town pub in the middle of the english countryside, one in which after a few trips everyone would know your name. The ceilings are high, so I could imagine that it could and does frequently get loud. The bar is large and provides ample seating, as do the bank of booths running along the main wall opposite the bar as well as two big booths under the windows in the front. Now on to the good stuff, the beer. The list of draught beers is massive, it features some very hefty alcohol contented beers, with a great variety to boot. The bottle list is equally as long and equally diverse. I could spend many days trying to conquer both lists, but I’m not sure my body nor my husband would be too pleased by that. Anyhow, I recommend stopping by for a cold brew on a hot day to help quench that seemingly never ending thirst, as well as on a cold day to help warm the bones. If you’re hungry try the rueben with the fries, the fires are cut nice and thick and the rueben is on to die for rye bread, piled high with meat and sauerkraut. My husband swears by the wings, but I can not since I have yet to try them. But hey there is always next time, ;-)

Loved this wonderfully quaint neighborhood bar and grill. Picture an old English pub, with dark, dark wood, a massive old carved bar, dimmed lights, and tall ceilings with tin tiles. Intimate and charming. Fish and Chips. I informed Mr. B, I had no intention of sharing, and glad I warned him. He changed his order to fish and chips too, and with no regrets. That was one tasty, thick cod filet, nicely battered. Not at all greasy, served with some seductively tasty steak fries as well. The fries were obviously fresh, skins left on. We each got the full serving, two large pieces of perfectly cooked white fish. Really delicious. In the range of $ 11. Then there was the delicious house made tartar sauce. It is much different than your ordinary tartar sauce, with a caper ingredient in a mayo base. Loved it. Such a wonderful choice of beers, if only I was a beer drinker. Mr. B made up for my shortcoming by ordering a Lucky Baldwin Red, the server’s recommendation. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I like that the dog friendly patio is heated and protected from weather. It is small and was completely full when we visited, even though the inside had tables available. Next time, Lilly pup will get to come with us. I was a bit surprised to see families with young children, not usually something you see at a bar, but they were welcomed, and obviously enjoying the food as much as we. Top it off, we had great service. Very happy to find this place.

I realized that it is finally time to write a review about this place when I saw that I have 16 Unilocal check-ins to date. This is my favorite local pub to come to when catching up with good friends over an awesome beer selection on tap. The regulars here are fun and friendly, as are the servers and bartenders. I’m not sure if they still have it, but they always held trivia night on Monday, which becomes more fun as you order more beers. Trust me on this one. Aside from the fish & chips, I’m not a huge fan of the food or the cider selection so –1 star, otherwise this place absolutely deserves a 5 star rating.

Hubby and I came here for a quick date day. So glad we did! Very cool café feel and they let you have your dog on a leash on the patio! We got an awesome waitress, Sasha. She was on top of things the whole time and definitely knew her beers. I can’t drink because I am pregnant but she sold hubby on a beer called Avec Bön Veux and even knew who brewed it! He said it was amazing and actually got another one lol The food was great too! I had the half order of fish and chips. Fish was crispy and moist on the inside and I love steak fries! Was just the perfect amount! Hubby got the lox with the baguette, came with cream cheese, capers and red onion. One of his favorite foods! lol Both tasted really good! We will definitely be back and I will make sure to request Sasha again and maybe we will bring our dog!

The last thing that one would imagine on the small, quaint downtown strip of Sierra Madre is a pub. Not just any pub but a good one. Wait, a great one. I know Lucky Baldwin’s has other locations that have made it a well known establishment but it seriously doesn’t fit here. I’m so glad it’s there though. It is the first place we visit after a hike at the nearby Chantry Flat recreation area up the mountain off Santa Anita Rd. The food has far exceeded the price. Fish & chips were great. Nice balance of meat to sinfully bad deep fry batter. The rueben at 7 bucks is also a great deal. Not a huge sandwich or thickly sliced corned beef but it doesn’t disappoint. The rye they put it on is crisp and melts away in your mouth. Happy hour is 3 – 5. Stone IPA is 4 a glass, 14 a pitcher. 5 dollar apps during happy hour. Jalapeño poppers are standard frozen stuff. The loaded crisps are way better. You’ll notice most of the apps are discounted during happy hour. Saved 3 bucks on the poppers. The crisps are 5 on the happy hour menu and the non happy hour menu. Not sure the logic there. We get them every time nonetheless. Another magical draw to this place is the ability to drink Pliny on tap. It’s not always there, but we’ve lucked out a few times. If it isn’t there, I think the other 25 or so taps will fulfill your hoppy dreams. This place always motivates me to burn some calories on a hike so that I can put them back on here with food and beer.

Such a refreshing treat to find something nearby that is really quite good. Lucky Baldwin’s serves up good olé’ fashion English fare and boasts a large variety of beers on tap. The Sierra Madre location is a great place to hang out, and enjoy a beer with friends and family. Everything we tried was pretty yummy — fish & chips are a popular favorite, and the fries are actually quite good. I’ll definitely be back! Stay Cheerful ;)

This is not an English Pub, this is a Belgian Pub, and that is so cool. With locations in Sierra Madre, Pasadena, and maybe more, it is a good watering hole to go to in the San Gabriel Valley. First off THEBEER: The selection is great, with the alcohol content noted in the menu. Some go up to 12(as much as wine). Many beers are from Belgium, which makes the selection even better. But that is where the Belgian theme ends. THEFOOD: This is a mix of British Pub Fare, more British Pub fare, and some American Pub fare. I recommend the authentic English breakfast, if you like bangers and things like that. For lunch and dinner you cant go wrong with the Fish and Chips… it is one of the best around. I also like the savory meat pies and the curried Pasties. There are other things like burgers and daily specials… but the above are my faves. You can also bring your dog into the street side café part. And there is a view of a nice little park on the other side of the court. Lucky Baldwin’s has a great happy hour, even on the pricey beers. And they often have special events like beer tastings and ale week. Good place… for what it is.
