To the 4 star poster, the reviews are not old, the school has become even more corrupt and terrible. Don’t go here, nothing but regret. They also fix the NCLEX exam so only 3 people can take it at a time so they can manipulate their score. Horrible place.

As a student I am very very concerned about the ability of this school to maintain its accreditations. You will get the run arounds and you will be told that although the school is very inconstant and unorganized, it is the students fault one way or another. You will be told that you need to figure it out and that as a student you should’t complain. Most of the time the no one knows whats going on (staff) and its still the students fault. I am praying for a miracle and hope that things change but as of now I feel they need to communicate more and work together instead of blaming each other (staff) and telling students they should learn to teach themselves, for that they might as well offer online courses. There is absolutely no accountability on their part. I obviously don’t mind spending more for a better opportunity to succeed but at this point, I feel we pay a lot just to be criticized for all their short comings. I doubt the school will get accredited but i hope they do so maybe i can transfer. Lets all pray that this changes sooner than later for the better. Please do not respond to my comment as it will just be discouraging lie. just take action in making this school the school that i was told it was and put the students first. I have faith if honesty is implemented and making minor changes then AUHS may have a chance. Lord please send your angels to watch over each student and give them the strength to endure In Jesus name, Amen!

Screw this School and BS crooked practices. School used up my lifetime Pell grant for an unaccredited program. They said the program would only cost 5K so they took out Direct loans to pay for it and pocketed 4k from my lifetime Pell Grant. Now trying to go back to School I can no longer Receive financial aid through the Pell grant.
DO NOT GO HERE! For a «christian» school they sure know how to rip off their students!

If i could give negative stars, i would. take it from someone who suffered through the four year BSN program and graduated, to summarize, DONT EVER COME TO THIS SCHOOL, EVER.
The owners only care about their money. I’ve invested $ 100,000 into this school JUST FOR TUITION and got nothing but mistreatment. The tuition does not include ANYTHING. at ALL. no books, no supplies, no scrubs, no nothing.
I have absolutely no doubt that all of the money goes straight into the owners’ pockets. the desks, library, chairs, rooms, building, etc. is all outdated and old. the internet signals are weak and the projectors/​computers are old and are not efficient nor fast. we do not have a computer lab and everything in our skills lab is used, old, dirty, and lacks supplies. WE have to pay for our own books and scrubs. my question is, if everything is old and used and dirty, where does the $ 100,000 PER STUDENT go? definitely not for supplies for us and definitely not to the building.
They tried to make us buy parking passes as well, but we share a parking lot with the other businesses that accompany the same building and they don’t need parking passes so why do we? There is also no security guard on duty so where does they money from these «parking passes» go? to their pockets.
They also require for us to wear scrubs to school (more money for us to spend on) and then white scrubs for clinicals (once again, more money to spend). where did my $ 100,00 go again? oh yeah… into their pockets.
the staff is less than helpful, there are maybe 2 – 3 members of the staff that genuinely care for us but the rest are dishonest and greedy. i can’t count how many times my emails went unanswered and voicemails ignored. there have been any instances when i have been spoken to as if i were a child, all of my pleas for help were ignored.
this is supposed to be a «Christian» school? the person who was the rudest to me was Pastor Gregory as well as the dean. I have emailed the President several times due to discrepancies between them and me while i attended as well as AFTER I graduated. Not one email was answered. NOT ONE. I requested to meet with her and she disagreed to have a meeting with my parents and me because she «didn’t have time». when the California State Board came to take a survey from the students, the President came into our classrooms and TOLD us not to write anything negative that we thought down into the surveys. ver batum, «Do not tell the board your concerns, Now is not the time to express your negative concerns, if you have any, tell me and not them.» that’s funny, because I’ve tried and you couldn’t have given a care less about what I needed and wanted. sounds like you want to hide how horrid this place really is and you don’t want the board to know about how unhappy and miserable you’re making us all.
as for the professors, I had 3 – 5 that genuinely cared about us and our education. as for the staff, I had maybe 3 – 5 who truly tried to care for and help me and the only reason that they couldn’t further solve the problems I was having was due to the extremely unconcerned and dispassionate faculty.
the classes here and untransferable so they trap you into staying the whole program. why? because all they want and care about is your money.
I can sit here all day and rant about the school. bottom line, DO NOT COME HERE AND TELL EVERY NURSING STUDENT THAT YOU KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

If i could give this school is ⁰⁄₅ stars I would. I started the RN BSN program in 2011 and finished October of 2014. I knew coming in this wasn’t going to be the typical college experience I would of gotten if I went to a University or a Cal State. This is more of a «go in get your work done and go home» type of program which I did not mind at all.
It has been nothing but a struggle since day 1. The professors are nice and I would say I actually learned from half of them. The others read from the powerpoints and just tested us from that. If you can read and learn on your own you’ll be fine. I would say some clinicals were a joke. You would get there and the professors would give you an assignment and you’re on your own for the day which I thought was weird because during my LVN program the professors were with you throughout the whole day and teaching you procedures and doing procedures with you. I had one professor who just showed up in the morning to brief us and would disappear for the whole day and meet us at the end. I believe that is the reason we lost our Kaiser South Bay clinical site. Towards the end of the program we basically lost some clinical sites and I think some places didn’t even want to take us. We had to do some PEDS clinical rotations at pre-​schools. During the 3.5 years I’ve been there, there was changes to our curriculum constantly. Even though it was not what we originally signed when we started our program the school would somehow find a way to go against our petitions. Such as adding an Advanced Medsurg class (which was basically just med surg again nothing special). They said it’s because they wanted us to have bed side experience before we graduate. Our advanced med surg lecture was basically a professor they brought in from santa monica college who just went over random notes with us. He was very informational but if you did NOT have fundamental basics which we should of had throughout the 3.5 years… the «ADVANCED» stuff was not going to help us at all (even the professor agreed with this). At the beginning of the program our cohort was required 50 service hours… then it became 100 but then somehow they LOST everyones paperwork… HOW THE HELL DOES THAT HAPPEN? It seemed like they came up with random things throughout the program so that we could pay more money. Our ATI program that we were required to have was OUT of pocket. Kaplan was ALSO out of pocket. our graduation fees were OUT of pocket. Theres alot more about the curriculum and clinicals if you want more information you’re more than welcome to message me.
We had a quarter that was for transition class which basically was us going to a lecture and the professor just talked about what it’s like to transition from student to RN. I could understand if it was like 1 or 2 lectures but i DO NOT think it was necessary to make a whole quarter out of it (again another good way to make couple thousands off of us). So because the school’s NCLEX passing rate was low they wanted to let us take our NCLEX according to how well we did in school (this is what we heard… it was never confirmed but it was very likely). in order for the school to CONSIDER sending our paperwork to the board we had to do question trainer 1 – 7 of kaplan and score 65% which they later changed to 75% then to 90%, you also had to finish the entire question bank, and finish all the NSCBN questions. after you did all of this they will send your progress to THEIR panel. Then they decide if they want to send your paperwork or not. Lets say i finish transitions class beginning of October and they did not send my paperwork to the BRN until right after Christmas and that was because I called and emailed the girl that was in charge of organizing our paperwork (and she was on top of things). Some of my classmates were not so lucky and had their paperwork sent after Christmas/​New years and waited forever for their ATTS. I didn’t take my test til beginning of Februrary which is stupid because the Kaplan guy they sent to teach us said that the best time to take NCLEX is 4 – 6 weeks after we finish Kaplan. the chances of failing increased if we waited longer. So basically the school kind of screwed us. I took my test 4 months later NOT 4 WEEKS later.
Before i took my test the school wanted to give us an incentive. which stated that if we passed on the first try they would give us $ 1,000. I passed my test February 6^th and was told i would get my money 2 weeks later. The guy in accounting continued to ignore my voicemails and phonecalls. One day he picked up i even told him that i made a payment plan with sallie mae that i would start paying my student loans April. He said that he closed the books and i would get my incentive 1^st week of april. IF YOURE NOT GOING TO PAY ME JUST SAY SO I DONT WANT TO PLAY PHONE TAG. but seriously give me my money.
I’ve had some hospitals tell me they won’t hire AUHS students.

The nursing program offered at this school is nothing short of SUBSTANDARD. I am very much disappointed with my experience at AUHS. Nursing schools are very expensive in nature but the difference with those other institutions and AUHS is that the other institutions make it a priority to take care of their students.
From personal experience, I can tell you that
–the classrooms are tiny and sometimes there is no room to sit on a chair.
–cohorts can have as many as 67 students– they NEED BIGGER classrooms!
–the air vents blow off stinky dusty air.
–the «cafeteria» consists of two microwaves and two vending machines.
–the school wifi crashes frequently.
–staff is mostly unavailable or «out to lunch/​be back in an hour».
–bathroom toilets are always clogged
–there are never enough outlets to charge and use your electronic devices.
–staff and faculty are not very reliable with the exception of the assistant dean.
–the librarian is grumpy at all times and you can never rely on their posted open hours.
–the school has many hidden fees that will break your wallet.
–they charge you for a parking permit when in reality you do not need one and if you ask staff where the money for decals go, they cannot tell you.
–if you try to make a difference or change anything you are shut down immediately and eventually you give up trying to make changes for the betterment of the student body.
–THIS SCHOOL IS A BUSINESS FIRST AND A SCHOOL SECOND.
–keep records of anything you do with the school because staff WILL lose records.
–be prepared to get passed around if you are seeking help or assistance.
–clinical experience in this school is terrible
–critical care clinical at a daycare center for challenged children is not okay
–they constantly have trouble placing students in clinical locations
–they expect you to be flexible as students but they are very rigid and unreasonable themselves
–they do not give opportunities to those who are underprivileged as they claim in their website because I’m truth, you need to be rich or have well off parents in order to attend this school
–the owner of this school is very charismatic and makes you pray before events which makes a lot of people very uncomfortable
While making this list I realized that Unilocal will never permit me the space I need to continue on with all the cons of this institution
There is a reason why all the previous reviews have only one star… that’s because this school is honestly very very very very terrible. It’s the honest truth. I have never been a student in a school that I could not be proud of. I wish I had gone to another school.
To end this review, I invite you to come to the school and pull aside any student you see walking around and really and honestly just ask them how their experience here at Auhs is like. They will all tell you that they are UNHAPPY and wish they had gone to another school.

I went to the open house to find out more information on there BSN program & the counselor Dina talked way too much. She tried too hard to talk about personal stuff when I’m ONLY here to learn about the program. She kept going on and on about how she’s the person to talk to about stress and other things, that she’ll be the one to help you get through in life. She tried so hard to get to know us as well and I just thought it was unnecessary because we’re not even in the program yet. Then while she was speaking, she was telling us that when being a nurse, you are the doctors «bitch.» YES SHE REALLY DID SAY THIS. She kept cussing and that is very unprofessional. She also said that we have to represent our school when we go to our clinical sites… That’s not how I see it. Don’t we go to our clinical sites to do hands on, learn more to be able to do it on our own, and to be the best that we can be to show the hospital that, us as an individual, can handle any situation? To represent the school, seriously? And she said that 100 hours of volunteer work is mandatory and you are volunteering at their church. Uhm, at their church? Shouldn’t volunteer work be linked to what program you’re in? Does not make any sense. After thinking everything go through and reading reviews on this school, I realized that it seems like a scam. I am not going to set up another appointment.

The staff is friendly — they really try their best to provide for their students. They have many different types of degrees to choose from, and will assist you in any costs or needs. This is a very intimate setting, so the relationship with student and faculty is very close-​knit. You will always receive an answer to the questions. With new hiring and a more concentrated team, they are moving AUHS to a different level.

don’t go to this school. they will let you take the accuplacer and if you don’t pass, they will let you go to fundamentals even you’ve already taken it in city college of calstate. this is unbelievable. this school is just taking your money away and doesn’t care about students. some teachers are horribble, omg. she’s (philo 160) not confident of her answers and what she teaches. you can tell by just the way she talks and teach.
i expected this school will help students to become nurses not to be ripped off. they’re holding your neck because you thought this is the only nursing school that you can go to because most city colleges and universities have waiting list… so unbelievable. they even call themselves christian school. i hope that pastor is seeing what’s going on here and the ceo.

This school was accredited by CCNE in 2011. The next CCNE site visit is scheduled for 2016.
Cost to attend if you have all prereqs done for the Nursing program is about $ 83k for 2.5 years. That breaks down to about $ 33k per year… which is less than a lot of other private schools. My LVN school, Casa Loma College, was $ 35k for one year of schooling. I received financial aid and basic student loans (no private loans); leaving me with a $ 5k out of pocket expense. Yes, the cost of tuition is higher than public schools, but if you have a problem with the cost, go ahead and go apply at all those public schools and wait a few years if you like. You really only have two options: Pay high tuition rates for your education and get it done now… or wait around a few years and have a much smaller debt due after your finish.
To those that claim the teachers don’t teach… grow up, open a book, and teach yourself! I have learned that teachers at MANY private schools don’t teach up to par with students’ expectations. Spend a little more time studying and less time complaining and you won’t have the problems you have.
(BTW… If your complaints are valid, please make them factual and pertinent to the topic at hand. No one cares if you worked with the owners and how they spend their salaries on their kids… no one cares if you think they are so «Christian»… you aren’t either for judging them in this way.)

As someone who worked closely with the owners, I can assure you that this school is a scam and that you should avoid it at all costs. They often struggled to keep their accreditation– both national and local (and believe me, they had to reapply quite a few times). When they failed national accreditation, that meant that students who wanted to pursue a Masters in Nursing would be SOL.
They prey on 1^st generation immigrants, but specifically, the Vietnamese. When I was working there, the «pastor» would go on Vietnamese language radio to advertise the school. They get more government funding for minorities, so that’s why there were hardly any whites. Once a potential student enters the doors, they are given an «IQ test» by the receptionist (who also grades it), which is completely bogus. There were plenty of people who were high level functioning mentally handicapped that were accepted in after discussing where they would get money from.
The tuition is over 10 times more expensive than an alternative vocational school and the education you receive is far worse. Your money goes straight to the owner’s kids’ private schools and music lessons. You’re essentially paying for powerpoint presentations that can easily be found on wikipedia. And guess what– when it’s all over, you won’t find a job. They have the worst job placement I have ever seen. So enjoy being in serious debt and jobless for MONTHS.
Students are told that they still need to do advertisement for the school. They give incentives (such as laptops and gift cards) for students to write rave reviews on sites such as Unilocal and their website, but don’t trust them! Don’t you think that it’s strange that the reviews that AREN’T filtered only have one review? And that’s for this fake school?
I’m not bitter that I don’t work there anymore. I never got paid on time or the full amount, despite all the money pouring in from Uncle Sam. I’m in a much better place today in position I enjoy with a fantastic company. I’m writing this as a warning to all potential students. I don’t see how these hypocrites in charge could take advantage of such good people.

AUHS is relatively a new nursing school. From what I experienced so far, the school was somewhat unorganized. However, as the weeks went by, it got better. Every school have good and bad sides and I would say that AUHS has a lot of good sides.
AUHS is a small private school. You will be with your group throughout the program. They will be your family for the next 3 years (age difference doesn’t matter). The advantage there is that you and your group can help each other to survive each quarter! The feeling of being the new student won’t matter to you once you start.
The professors are great. They really want you to learn and pass the class so they encourage students to communicate with them. Classes may be overwhelming since it’s an accelerated nursing program, but the professors are there for you and there are tutorings as well. You can do anything as long as you are dedicated to your studies.
AUHS is a private Christian school, but students here are mix. The school does not discriminate other race and religion so that’s a good thing.
AUHS is a private school so it’s expensive. Tuition ranges between 80,000 to 94,000. Students apply for the sub/​unsub government loans and parents apply for the PLUS loan. If the government loans don’t cover your expenses, you can always apply for a private loan. Education is a great investment so by the time you graduate as a BSN, you will be earning a lot more once you start working.
The program is in a quarter system so you will be busy for a few years, but it will be over before you know it!(:

Attending the Pharmacy Technician Certification Program, during my senior year of high school (the 2006 – 2007 academic year), enhanced and verified my desire to become a pharmacist. I recently graduated from CSU Long Beach with a BS in Biochemistry, and I am currently a student pharmacist at the UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy (the number one School of Pharmacy in the nation).
The American University of Health Sciences (AUHS) equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform as a competent pharmacy technician in a wide variety of pharmacy environments (including the clinical, compounding, hospital, and retail settings… and many more). AUHS was also extremely helpful in locating and positioning their students in excellent internship positions.
AUHS gave me hands on experience preparing IVs and TPNs, stocking medication, and using a mortar and pestle in their mock pharmacy… just to name a few physical skills gained.
The many diverse, academic modules at AUHS include: learning the ins and outs of a pharmacy technician’s role in the hospital and retail settings, understanding pharmacy law, discovering the basics of pharmacology, and expanding fundamental scientific knowledge.
It is fair to state that AUHS bestowed upon me a competitive edge while applying to multiple Schools of Pharmacy, AND while applying for jobs as a pharmacy technician.
The administration is friendly and the teachers are awesome. I felt that each individual at AUHS cared about my education and my future! I still remain in contact with them (and several of my classmates) to this day.
