As an HOA manager I have used many gate vendors over the years… I always come back to Byers and Butler. Great service and very trustworthy, can’t ask for more!

Poor quality and workmanship; I am not satisfied with the company that installed this door on our residence in 2002; It has now broken 4 times where we had to call a repairman; I have fixed it at least three times on my own. Next time I will not call Byers and Butler, my business will go elsewhere; The company should also offer weekend emergency service like a plumber; A broken garage door is a safety and security issue, not only a personal inconvenience. For a door that cost $ 1400 in 2002, we have had four repairs: In 2007 paid $ 125 for repair; in 2010 paid $ 78 for repair; in 2012 paid $ 141 for repair and today paid $ 245 for a repair. $ 589 in repairs for a $ 1400 door;

A complete rip off! You have been warned. Spent $ 450 to fix garage and it broke 2 days later. Called them back and they said we would need a new motor. They didnt even come back to check their work but said that over the phone. Why wasn’t that mentioned up front. Classic bait and switch. Will see them in small claims court.

An excellent company to deal with, and have used them for years… I called Sarah, who along with Sherry are very nice, made my appointment, and Josh was here right on time and did a fine job…
The only company to call for a new garage door or repair.

B&B even went out of their way to find cost efficient parts for a repair and not to mention advised us not to change out an old system, since it still had life. Nice!

Great company. Very professional and honest. I just had my garage door operating system replaced and it was done promptly at a very reasonable price. I will definitely use them again in the future. Btw, The installer Andrian was courteous and very knowledgeable.

I went to this company because they service the gate at the apartment I just moved into. I wanted to get a second remote door opener because the one I got from the management was large, the button would stick and the visor clip was broken. The employee checked which system was being used at the apartment based on their records and told me the name of the remote company. I then bought a sleek remote I liked online from that company. When I went back to Byers and Butler to get it programmed they told me it was the wrong remote. They told me they made a mistake but I could by the correct remote from them right now. Not wanting to wait I did just that. Of course I overpaid by about ten dollars then if I would have bought this new remote from the internet. I also had to return the other remote I already purchased. The new remote was from Liftmaster and it turned out to be a piece of crap. I have to be right next to the garage door for it to work. Sometimes it will not send a signal through the car windshield. Basically I wasted a bunch of time researching on the internet for the remote I wanted only to find out it was not what I needed, and then buying another remote at mark up that turned out to be almost useless.

I have used Byers and Butler for years and have found them to be fair and great to work with! They always have a solution. Their clickers always work and always seem to be in stock. They have solved many solutions to gates that others have not been able to solve. Their prices have been great. I have not used them for garage doors but many other things!

I interviewed and obtained quotes from 5 different companies. I went with Beyer & Butler — NOT the low bidder (but not the most expensive, either) — because they are local (really about 10 blocks from my house) and a long-​time Long Beach business.
The installation was half assed. Even after coming to the house to measure the garage door opening and all the important clearances — they added two 2x4s to make the garage door opening slighly smaller — and left raw, unpainted wood exposed to the elements. I had to pay a painter to come and paint exposed wood.
Then — and much more importantly — one day the garage door came off its track and got stuck open. Byers & Butler does not have an emergency number. How is that possible? What if this happened on Saturday? Or in the late afternoon? Your garage door has to stand open until the next work day.
That’s what happened to me. On a Sunday the garage door came out of its track. I had to somehow secure the garage until I could call Byers & Butler on Monday and schedule a service call. (The service guy was fine and quickly made the repairs which included bent rollers.) LUCKY for me this happened 1 week before the warranty ran out.

Not just once, but on two occasions, I phoned B&B and the customer service person assured me that the exact garage door opener that I had inquired about was in stock and available. Each time I drove there within an hour and I inquired, they had no such opener, but would be glad to order it. Never again.
