These guys were a lifesaver. They found time during a busy period to come and get my heater up and running at the drop of a hat when other places told me it would be weeks. Honest and fast, I can’t recommend enough.

My husband and I are new homeowners, and our first house maintenance issue was with our wall heater. After doing some research, we opted to go with Chavarrie Heating & Air Conditioning, based on their excellent reviews here on Unilocal and the fact that we would be supporting a local business. We couldn’t have been more happy with the service — despite the fact that our issue popped up on a holiday weekend (over New Year’s Day), Chris was able to make a house call within 24 hours. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and the prices were far below other quotes that we got. If you’re in need of heating/​air repairs, you won’t be disappointed with Chavarrie. We’ll be using these guys exclusively for as long as we live here!

AWESOME service! We called just before noon. By three, Chris was in the attic checking out the furnace. Twenty minutes later, he’d sanded down the flame sensor, cleaning off the corrosion and repairing the unit without even needing a replacement part. The warmth is flooding the house now. My fingers are now capable of typing. The long, dark, 60 degree California winter is coming, but we are now equipped to survive it.

Let me tell you I LUCKED out with hiring Chaverrie as no other company would have taken on my difficult install. I needed a new heating cooling install for house built in 1930. This was a very difficult project as there was no prior Hvac system ducting, the house does not accommodate modern appliances, there is minimal attic crawl space and there was no place to house the furnace. Ric came out same day to provide quote and was very informative. Ric completed the install in 1 week even with all the obstacles they encountered throughout the project. He went above and beyond by digging a trench underneath the home to get furnace underneath house, put in subfloor where the ancient furnace was removed and built a pseudo wall to hide furnace piping. I did not expect this extra work… no other company would have done this work AND he stuck to his original quote without asking for additional $$$. He is a top notch professional business owner and an overall great person. I referred his company to friends and family and will definitely use him again for future projects.
In addition, throughout my career I worked for Hvac companies and still chose Chaverrie over the other companies I had worked for. Just sayin…

This is our second time using Chavarrie Heating and Air Conditioning and are very happy with the service that they provide.
The first time I called, Ric came by and figured out what the problem was and fixed it. Had called other companies and they couldn’t come out until days later, Ric told me to text him my info and he would come out to see me that day. For a one man company at the time that was pretty amazing. When other companies couldn’t come out, he found the time during his swamped schedule to make the time. This is what led me to call for another problem that just came up.
This second time I had called Ric and he told me he was really busy and either he or Chris would make it out to figure out the problem. So the call was placed around 10am. I didn’t have a problem with the wait time because of the work done and professionalism exhibited in the first visit, I knew that he was going to take care of the problem that we had. Come 630pm I get a call from Chris and he says that he is about 30 mins out. Was surprised that they were still going to make it out. Came by, figured out the problem. Came back the next day and fixed the problem.
What I like about this company is that they try their best to make it out same day with all the calls they get. The knowledge and info that both Ric and Chris provide to customers shows that they do care and aren’t out there to rip you off! They’ve fixed the problems that we’ve had and we have no complaints.
Would use again and would recommend to everybody!

Ric and Chris are great! They are courteous and friendly. They managed to fit me in during this terrible heat wave. They are both very knowledgeable and were able to talk to me in a language that I could understand (since I don’t speak HVAC). Their prices are beyond reasonable. Thank you guys!

In the middle of a huge heat wave, my trusty AC unit suddenly didn’t run cold. Chris and Ric came out within the hour and then figured the problem out within minutes. Turns out we just blew a fuse. In addition to replacing it on the spot, they cleaned my whole unit for me! I called around 10 places on Unilocal and got the runaround. These guys were fair priced, knowledgable and quick. So happy to have a cool house this evening!

Rick provided excellent service, quality, and value. We just enjoyed our 2^nd day of a heat wave with our new HVAC system installed by Rick (Chavarrie Heating and AC). Rick was a sight for sore eyes! We had received various consultations (about 6 companies to be exact). Sears to be one of the companies, we fired) Not one offered as many options in efficiency with the HVAC system. We have a flat roof family room, Rick was able to give us options for our entire house. We went with a 2 Zone system. It works perfect for our needs. We called him, and he got back to us right away. We did have to wait because of his busy schedule. BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! We highly recommend Rick and Chris they work well together. Both are professional and a pleasure to do business. Again we highly recommend them, if you have to wait a little longer you will not regret it. Thank you Rick and Chris for the comfort and expertise you provided to our home.

I recently had an A/​C unit installed in my home and was extremely pleased with the service and work performed. Ric showed up on time, did the work in a timely manner, kept my home clean, and the price was reasonable. I couldn’t be more happier. I highly recommend this company.

In the middle of a heat wave they said they could come in 3 days when everyone else was saying 7. Then they called the next day with an opening. Got me cooled down in no time — super knowledgeable and honest, I would recommend to everyone.

Here’s our story:
3 weeks ago: Moved into our new condo. We are first-​time homeowners.
5 days ago: Air conditioning stops blowing cold air on a triple-​digit temp day. We have a baby so we call the home warranty company ASAP. The earliest the AC company (henceforth known in this review as lame company X) can come out is today (Tuesday). We stay at grandma and grandpa’s for a few days because it is HOT.
3 hours ago (Tuesday): We begin waiting for lame company X to come out. It is raining. And hot. We have a 6 hr wait window. My husband takes the day off work.
2 hours ago: We call lame company X to find out if they are still coming or not. They are not, but didn’t think our business was important enough to let us know that (my translation).
1.5 hours ago: I call Chavarrie to find out their rate for a quote to fix our AC. My baby is cranky because it is hot. My husband is cranky because it is hot and he took the day off. Kind lady answers the phone and says quotes are free but they are booked for a few weeks out. She hands me over to Ric in case he can «give me any pointers» about our situation. It stops raining. Ric is very kind and says he can come out right now to help us, because it happened to stop raining.
1 hour ago: Ric comes to our condo. He is kind and honest. He fixes the fuse that blew on our condenser. He charges us such a reasonable rate that we don’t even bother trying to get the home warranty company to reimburse us.
45 minutes ago: Our house is cool and no one is cranky. My husband won’t miss a full day of work. We wish we had called Chavarrie sooner. We now have a go-​to AC company for life.
Call them, you won’t be disappointed.

Ric and Chris were extremely professional and very thoughtful about how to best do the install of our AC considering all the obstacles our situation present. They did a great job and I would give them my highest recommendation to anyone considering using them. Thanks again. guys!

If you are looking for a team that doesn’t care about workmanship, a clean installation, air flow philosophy, customer satisfaction, and affordability, then don’t hire Ric and Chris.
If you are looking for a company that DOES care about those things, look no further.
These guys do superb work at a fair price, and they are a pleasure to have in your home for the day. They installed a new furnace and AC in about 9 hours.

Ric is one of those guys we knew we were going to hire the second he stepped foot in our home. He is a local Long Beach Resident that knows the bones of these old 50s homes and put us at an instant ease with the installation process.
This was a fresh install with no previous system — and Ric walked us through it with such confidence and simplicity that we weren’t remotely worried.
I did shop Ric with two with two other local companies and I was glad I did. One of the companies literally sold the same Maytag equipment — and he told us in my kitchen to go with Ric after seeing the price I was quoted as well as the quality of his work on this Unilocal page. His exact words were «Looks just like ours — go with him.»
Ric does the entire install himself with one nice younger man — not a whole team of people. This does make the installation take perhaps a bit more time than a larger team and company, but I respected Ric’s attention to detail. He made sure everything wasn’t just working properly, but looked clean and in place. He literally ran everything below the house and in the attic. I don’t know much about HVAC — but I know that this install is CLEAN with no unnecessary wiring or piping outside the home.
He put a fantastic thermostat in called the Nest — which we absolutely love and can be controlled through our phones.
All in all — I could write all day about how great this experience has been — but if you are like me and scrolling through Unilocal looking for an A/​C guy — know that I found Ric here on this site — and I am glad I did.
