Life savers!
it is my first time having my own dog and I happened to rescue him. The downey shelter neutered my dog but a few days later the incision looked bruised/​almost infected. I call frantically and the staff was so nice. when i arrived (within 30 mins of calling/​no appt needed), the staff helped me immediately and helped me through the problem
Dr. attalla came in and handled the problem like a pro. I was heartbroken to see my doggy scared from the thermometer, so i cried. the staff comforted me and Dr. atalla sent me home with proper medicine & a follow up appointment. She was awesome!
the place is clean, plenty of parking, and great pricing.

THE most shady vet I’ve ever had the displeasure of visiting. We had to take our cat in because he had stopped eating and drinking for several days. We were lucky enough to get a last minute appt. on a Sunday, but once we arrived we were told by reception that the vet was running late and wouldn’t be in for another half hour. 45 minutes later we’re finally called to be seen. The vet, Dr. Mirette Attalla comes in the exam room and asks us why we were there. After very briefly describing our cat’s symptoms, she grabs him to feel his kidneys. She then proceeds to tell us that, without a doubt, he has an obstruction that’ll need to be taken care of immediately. She didn’t weight him, take his temperature or even ask us any questions to try and figure out a cause. She goes on to give us the bullet-​points of her treatment plan (blood work, x-​rays, urine tests, etc.) all of which sounded reasonable, and told us she’d be back with a quote.
5 minutes later, a tech comes in with a *rough* estimate of the bill — $ 1,500. This included all of the things she had mentioned, but also included a minimum 3 day stay at the hospital and slew of other test/​treatments the vet hadn’t gone over with us. We explained to the tech that we couldn’t really afford this (they require 70% of the treatment plan payment upfront) and asked if there was any other vets they might be able to suggest, or even if there was some sort of payment plan we could set up. Her first response was «no, we’re going to be the most affordable vets office around,» but that we could try and call around. Her next response was to our inquiry was to suggest that we could «humanely euthanize» our cat. This was after the vet had literally taken 2 minutes to examine him. My wife was in tears by this point and this woman could not have been any less cold in telling us «the facts.» Bedside manner here gets a negative 5 stars. I then asked to see if we could just get done what was absolutely necessary first, and just start crossing things off the list of diagnostic tests. The tech very rudely informed us that this was what the vet had recommended and that there was no other options. To make matters worse, she informed us that the vet (who had just arrived) would be leaving in a hour. So we were being pressured to make the decision to either leave our cat there and pay the huge fee or to chance taking him to another vet. She was quite literally were giving us an ultimatum, in a high-​pressure, highly emotional situation. How many ways can I say ‘unprofessional’?
When we decided to take our cat to another vet (Long Beach Animal Hospital) and just pay for the exam, the vet came BACK in and asked us nonchalantly «You do know that that estimate is not set in stone? We might not need to keep him the three days,» she continued on saying that we might only need to do several of the things on her treatment list, and that she’d get us an estimate for just the basic testing he needed done. We found this funny, since we’d already asked about this option and were given a stern «no.» A COMPLETE contradiction of what the tech had told us. It felt like we were trying to haggle over the price of a new car at a dealership. So, we politely waited for the new estimate, which turned out to be $ 870 (which was basically all the same testing that was suggested on the first estimate, but only included a hospital stay until the following day.) At this point, our gut told us that this was NOT the place we should be leaving our beloved cat, so we didn’t. We paid for the exam and left.
I’m glad we did because the vet at Long Beach Animal Hospital came up with an ENTIRELY different prognosis that didn’t cost an entire month’s rent and he was fine within the next day.
The moral of this review is that if you value your pet’s health, and dislike feeling that you have to negotiate over his care, take him elsewhere then Signal Hill Pet Hospital, because they certainly don’t care half as much as your pet’s well-​being as they do the money they end up with in their pockets.

I’m a customer of this place for years. Went in today for shot. Very nice desk personnel. Helping customers and getting us in and out in a timely manner.

Doctor was gentle with our dog yesterday. Very caring. We brought our 2 cats by today. We waited a while because there was an emergency. When he saw the cats he was caring and did not rush. Thank you.

This place sucks! My dog had pneumonia last month, the doctor came in and took my dog to x-​Ray directly, and they didn’t even try to check on my dog or explain to me about his situation at all, they gave us a week antibiotics for unreasonable prices. After a month, we have to go another doctor for second opinions, because my dog still have breathing problems. Our new doctor at different vet is actually took the time to check on my dog, and he wrote him a prescription long enough to fight his pneumonia. Anyways, this place didn’t care my dog, it seems like they are trying to up sell me to unnecessary exams.

Went in for a question and was told to sign in and wait. There was no one else in there. Other customers came in with their pets and they were helped before I was. I had to go and stand by the front counter to get help. Even then they didn’t seem like they wanted to help me.

Had a wonderful first time experience. I was in and out in 20 mins. Friendly staff and they were very gentle with my puppy… Love this place :) I’m going to continue bring my puppy here!

Brought my cat in Samantha. She had stomach virus. The doctor. Found out. And. She was given. Shots. And. Medication. The hospital was very helpful. And I recommend if your pet is sick. You should take your animal. There.

Dr. Attala spent time answering all of our questions for the surgery that was needed for our dog Bella. After spending time talking with her I knew I was leaving Bella in good hands. Bella is doing great after her surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Attalla and Signal Hill Pet Hospital.

The doctor was amazing she was fast efficient and professional she gave me slot of information .They are expensive though.

First experience was pleasant. Clean office and friendly staff, however the wait time took about 15 minutes from check in. It was a Monday afternoon. Sugar has been back twice. She seems to like the office. We were in and out when it came to follow up vaccines.

They were interested in my money and not the welfare of my pet. Terrible experience. From the moment we arrived. Pet information was wrong, couldn’t get our name spelled correctly. Promised doctor would call and waited all day only to find out they left for day. Recommended ultrasound and exploratory surgery for a clearly terminal animal. Could not recommend anyone who loves their animal go here.

I love this place. They are very accommodating when I need my dog to board. I would really recommend this place.

My dog needed to update his shots and had a severe ear infection, also needed his nails trimmed. The infection was so severe that if you tapped the tip of his ear he’d whine about it. He had fluid coming out of the tip of his ear and the odor was very foul. I drove all the way to petsmart to see if I could get an appointment with banfield but unfortunately I had to wait two weeks for a doctor to see him. There was a young lady there that recommended me to Signal Hill. She told me that they were very reasonable and you could go the same day.
So I made the drive with my dog from Torrance to Long Beach and it was definetly worth it. The staff was super friendly and the doctor did an awesome job on his ear infection. Shockingly the shots were for an awesome price, better price than what other doctors would charge. Thanks signal hill for helping out, he walked out of their office happy and now he’s sleeping like a baby. The ear infection wasnt allowing him to sleep, but he’s sleeping like a kid after a long day at an amusement park, before that all you would hear is constant scratching and collar jingling but not now! My pet has a new vet for now on :-) Everything was done the same day no appointment needed!

This place is fast. In and out in an hour. Very happy staff, knowledgeable doctor vet, good prices. That being said, they are not good at explaining things. I got two meds, none explained for what they are, how to take them (with food or without) and one was just «Cough tablets», they could be sugar pills for all I know. I was also given wipes with the instructions «use as needed» but no limits or anything to indicate what a norm is for using them.
It’s clean, it’s nice, but I used to work in a veterinary office, so I am aware of what you are supposed to explain and how. Saying here’s the meds, take it, see you in a week is weird to me. I like things explained to me, what am I giving my dog, why am I giving it to them, and all the nitty gritty details.

I have been taking my dogs here for 3yrs now… after today’s experience I will never go back! After paying $ 490 to get 2 warts removed and $ 175 for dental cleaning; they call me and say Daisy is ready to be picked up… Go pick her up and now I have a remanding bill of $ 42 bc they messed up on there end with the original estimate. After getting home and going over my bill things were added twice and nothing adds up, the receipt bill is so out of whack! They also put a 15 cm cone on a 10lb dog… It’s way to big & that alone was $ 25! I went to petco and got a reusable/​washable one for $ 10.
I really did love this place and the doctors are so friendly but I’m so disappointed!
Wanted to follow up… few days after writing this review, I got a call from a lady from Signal hill animal hospital; she was really nice and went over my bill with me, listen to my story… everything said and done they refunded me the $ 42 bc that was not in the quote as discussed. I really appreciate that!

Amazing staff and very proffesional.
My dog Luca had to have a teeth cleaning, because his breath was bad. They did a great job cleaning his teeth and even got a phone call the next day to ask how they did. I really appreciate that.

I am very satisfied with Signal Hill Pet Hospital! I’ve been taking my cat there for a few years. She usually gets a flea bath and nail trim. She gets alot of mats since she has long hair, just had a lion cut done yesterday, they did a great job and was very patient with her. Prices are comparable to other hospitals. They are clean and friendly!
