A specialty treatment is the Guinot Hydradermie facial, a three-​in-​one cutomized treatment for multiple skin conditions that incorporates galvanic currents to promote absorption of products into the skin for immediate and lasting results!

The SkinSpa Institute started its humble beginnings as a local neighbood favorite where guests could be treatmented like family in a comfortable and relaxed setting. Founder and spa director of The SkinSpa Institute has worked in the world of hair, skin and beauty for over 30 years. Her goal is to educate clients on how to care for their skin properly at home, while stressing the need for consistent treatments by professionals in order to maintain health & vitality and to gain maximum benefits and results.

With knowledge acquired from many years of study is the beauty industry and her relentless pursuit of the very finest skin care products available, Christal believes anyone can have beautiful, healthy, glowing skin. She is frequently sought out for her cutting edge treatments and advise in skin care, treating ethnic skin, severe acne and aiding in the health and age-​management for mature skin. She founded The SkinSpa Institute in 2003 with a vision to provide the type of true day spa experience she knew the local area was lacking. Refreshed and educated is how I felt walking out from my first facial here that my husband purchased for me. The environment felt very clean and relaxing.
The best thing was their comfortable heated bed! That alone was worth it! Christal was amazing, she took the time to know my needs and concerns. Since I had just come off of a long 12 hour shift at work she offered to also massage my feet; one thing I appreciated was after she massaged my feet she washed her hands and continued with my facial (yes! a place where I know sanitation is important!) Throughout the facial she educated me about my skin type and products that would work best; it was very interesting!
I plan to looking into their membership because Christal is someone I feel really loves to educate and want to help her members feel refresh and know how to better care for their skin and it’s not all about the money.

I had one of the best facial with Christal. Can’t wait to have another one. The experience was wonderful and relaxing. Upon walking in, the ambience is soothing and smells good. Christal the owner took careful details in designing and decorating the place. It feels wonderful in there, like a sanctuary. Her staff were friendly and took care of me right away. I had the restorative facial. The products she used on my face were gentle and did not smell bad like other facials I had received from other places. Yet they produced great result. The pigmentations on my face were noticeaby reduced. My face looks and feels younger and tighter. I love the way my skin looks. I highly recommend getting a facial by Christal. She knows what she is doing. She is highly trained and very knowledgeable about facial and skin care. Her techniques are gentle and soothing. I had a wonderful experience with her.

Getting facials at the Skin Spa Institute has been a life changing experience for me. I’ve always used what I thought were good products but now realize they were not the best for my skin type and age. I absolutely love the Guinot product line!!! Christal knows her craft and my skin has improved tenfold. Highly recommend not only the fantastic services offered here but the product lines they use… wow…what a difference for me!!!

Been coming to the Skin Spa Institute for about 18 months and been strictly been seeing Christal for waxing down below.
I highly recommend going to see her for any of your waxing needs. Christal is a true professional and makes every experience as painless as possible. She is very knowledgeable and it shows. I appreciate her, the cleanliness of her business and appointment flexibility. Also the friendly staff is always quick to offer hot tea or water to help you get relaxed.
If you’re thinking about trying a new Spa, go see Christal. You won’t be disappointed. Also, you’ll be supporting s small business owner… who doesn’t want to do that?

Had an very good experience, my fiancée and I had facials and massages Steve was fantastic. My facial lady was good. I even join the monthly club. I did not give it 5 stars because in think the second time around is when you can truly tell if the people are great. I look forward to next mi the experience.

I’ve been putting off getting a massage until I tweaked my back and could barely walk. The Skin Spa Institute, and in particular Steve Carr, was recommended. He gave me a fantastic massage working all the areas that were a problem. It’s amazing how he could tell me what hurt before asking. I truly recommend going to the Skin Spa. I will be back.

I have been getting facials and massages for several months now and I always look forward to my appointments. Steve is really great and gives amazing massages. He is always very professional and makes you feel very comfortable. I highly recommend getting the dry brush and hot stone with the massage, its a such a great combo. For facials, Christal really knows her stuff. She always continues to educate and takes her time with you. Thank you Steve and Christal you guys are great :)

I found Skin Spa one day from browsing on Unilocal.I am a fitness enthusiast and also a PiYo Instructor so I put my body through alot. Steve, their Massage Therapist, is so attentive, has the hands of a healer, and is also very knowledgeable in sports therapy (which I greatly appreciate), reflexology, and the human body. He always makes me melt into the massage table and I never want to move.
On Valentine’s Day, after my 55-​minute massage, I had a quick 30-​minute facial with Stephanie. It was the first-​time I ever had a facial and now I want to have one every single time I go in for my montlhy massages. I felt like Milk & Butter after my massage/​facial combo. I highly recommend these two… Tell them I sent you ;)

Lizzy who specializes in oncology facials was awesome pampering my mom who had been going through chemotherapy. My mom came out of her facial relaxed and rejuvenated. Lizzy was able to take care of my mom’s skin issues that she had been dealing with due to the side effects of her chemo treatments. And better yet get her on a regular regimen to help her skin heal. Thanks Lizzy you’re an angel!

My most recent visit was for a 90 minute Massage (with hot stones) with STEVE and I must highly recommend him!
I was hesitant to have a male technician massage me but I am so glad that I tried Steve. He was very professional and did an AMAZING job! Perfect pressure and hands of silk. He was so attentive to my personal comfort which I greatly appreciate (I don’t like being cold and he made sure bed was warm and covered me up nicely). He asked me if I had areas I wanted to work on. I pointed out that my foot has pain in certain pressure points and he did a fantastic job of avoiding them. I fell asleep several times and I was in such a relaxed state at the end of my massage that I could barely mumble when asked if I was doing fine, lol
I am looking forward to seeing him again. Thanks STEVE! You were awesome!

I came to SkinSpa to get a chemical peel. It was my first peel and Christal was extremely informative. She went into extensive detail on my skin type and condition. I learned a lot about my skin and skin in general. The treatment Christal provided was also very thorough. She took her time and explained every step. It was obvious that she cared about her work and took pride in it. After the treatment she explained in detail several products that she believed would be helpful to me but there was zero pressure to buy them. She even told me to text her photos of what I already use at home so she could see if they could be worked into my regimen. I’m happy with the results of the peel and also very grateful for the knowledge that I gained. I’ve been much more successful at taking care of my skin since.

I’m so glad I stumbled into Skin Spa a few years ago. Their staff is top notch and so are their services and products. I recommend Nicole for all of your waxing needs, she does really good work and is one of the best aestheticians I have ever had wax me. She also gives great facials. If you need a massage make sure to ask for Joy. I am very active and her sports massages really help with pain and soreness.
Their services might be slightly higher in price than your usual run of the mill spa but those spas lack superb products, a relaxing atmosphere, and a cheerful and meticulous staff. I highly recommend Skin Spa.

So after re examining I have to update and go with two stars. Seems like majority of hair was broken off rather than pulled out. ****
It’s very cute, clean and the staff is friendly. I came in a few days ago to get waxed and when I got home I noticed several hairs that had been missed. In the days following my visit not only have I found more hairs that were missed but I’ve found that a substantial amount of the hairs were waxed superficially (broke off rather than pulled out by the root) and are already growing back. I had a feeling this was happening during the procedure too as it seemed that a lot of strips were pulled too soon (also causing unnecessary pain).
Again I’m not sure how I feel as I’ve only gone once and may have just caught it on a bad day. But for the amount charged (considerably higher than other places I’ve gone to with better results) I was expecting a lot more. I’m debating going back and trying someone else, but again I’m not sure I want to drop this much money on a gamble.

I stand by my previous review about how great Cristal is for facials, but I’ve recently gone there for a massage and am just not happy with the whole experience, especially considering I paid almost $ 200.
First off let me just say that the masseuse was a nice person and she tried, but the whole experience felt like it was worth $ 25. Where do I start on the whole Meh experience…
I wish I knew her name, but she never took the time to introduce herself. she seemed unfamiliar with the services, where things were and what products to use and how. She mentioned she previously worked at Burke Williams, but as what???
So she was looking for aromatherapy oils and the cabinet was disorganized, cuz she couldn’t find anything. I asked for a certain scent and she had no idea what she had in the cabinet. She’d smell the scent and hadn’t offered to let me smell it before deciding she didn’t like it!
She had asked me where my problem areas, which was my back, YET she spent way too much time on my FOOT and SCALP! And even that wasn’t any good. She had taken my ponytail out to massage my scalp, and when she put it back up, it was sooo rough, that I felt my hair being pulled out. And even then, when she went around table, my hair wasn’t all pulled up, because it kept on getting caught in her and the table. My hair was soo tangled with the «massage» that it took me forever to get the knots out after the session.
She «massaged» my face as well and it was more like pinches, and the next morning, I broke out in pimples! For real!!!
She kept on burping too throughout my session, sure… she said excuse me, but whaaaaa???
The rattle of ice from her drinking from her cup of water was unprofessional. And I could hear her constantly check the time on the clock, that little click of the button to turn in the light on the clock. I know I did not get the full time, because when I looked up to check the time when I first got on the table, it was 2min in and at the end after I got dressed and ready to leave, it was just the time the massage should have JUST ended (think getting my clothes on, fix my makeup, untangle my hair.,.a good 5−8min), because she was knocking on the door asking me how I was doing.
Sorry SkinSpa… I’m moving on.

If you ever want a miracle worker, Christal is the girl to call. I had several classmates walk up to me and ask what I did to have my skin improve so much (I had cystic acne with deep hyperpigmentation).
I did the Vi peel which took off ALL my spots! Then, a month later, I topped it off with a luxurious, star treatment facial, the Hydradermie.
BAAZAAAM, I have confidence in my step, and sass to my walk.
The Aesthetician Checklist:
1. Experience with problematic skin?
Check! Since I’ve gone to Christal, my cystic acne is gone. I know that when I come in with deep, heavily impacted pores and asphyxiated skin, she will appropriately judge what treatment to do and how to extract.
2. Continuous education through new and improved skincare classes and trade shows?
Check!
3. Quality of products? Check!
4. Commitment to teaching other aestheticians?
Check! I lucked out and had two of her trainees work on me while I had a facial with Christal. Free arm and leg massage? OOh lala, sign me up!

Beware/​Unprofessional:
Relatively new to the area, I was looking for spa to go to for facials, massage, etc. So today, I tried SkinSpa Institute.
After having a facial that was ok (worth the $ 80 charge), the receptionist tells me that my total is $ 115. When I asked why, she said that I also received a peel, that I was not told was additional. After confirming with me that I was not told the peel was additional, she literally said «there is nothing I can do now.»
I have had add-​ons to facials before, but have always requested them before entering the treatment room. I have had one performed in the room without asking for my consent or being informed that its an additional service.
This practice is completely unprofessional and not consistent with any professional spa or salon I have ever patronized. If you go here, be weary that services performed on you might be additional to what you think your paying for, and the reception staff is unsympathetic, which makes me wonder If its how this spa does business. Beware.
