Amazing tropical flavors here! This is the kind of wonderful, small local business that I am happy to support. The owner is very friendly and helpful, offering free tastes of ice cream, and describing the various meal options that are also available on the menu.
Thus far, my favorite ice cream favor is the Coconut Ginger, with actual chunks of coconut, mixed with the nice kick of ginger. I can honestly say that if or when I ever move from this part of the country, one of the things I’ll miss most will be the Coconut Ginger ice cream here!
Also, as someone who has definitely has a sweet tooth but also loves spicy food, the Spicy Chocolate flavor is a wonderful surprise! It has an initial rush of deep, rich chocolate, and then, a spiciness that emerges with some real potency.
The Mango ice cream is delicious too. I hope to eventually try *all* of the different favors offered here. There are many, and quite a few of them are unavailable anywhere else (at least in this area) that I have found.
As mentioned above, there are also meals on the menu, and they should not be overlooked. I love the Jollof Rice and Chicken. When I got it recently for dinner, the portion size easily made for two full meals. You can eat in-​store, and delivery to house or apartment is also available.
I really hope that Yummy In My Tummy continues on to become a big success in Wheaton. The word should get around! This is some seriously delicious tropical ice cream, and good, hearty lunch-​and-​dinner food too!

What a great place in Wheaton. We came here on a Saturday around 2pm and the place was empty. Probably because it’s winter. Otherwise, I imagine this place would be packed.
There are so many flavors to choose from and the owner encourages you to taste as many flavors as you want. She was so nice and told us about some of her favorites because we didn’t know what to order. She has all the regular flavors, but other more exotic fruits are what makes this place great.
I ended up getting a scoop of the guava and it was delish. Not too sweet but you can definitely taste the guava in it. She also mentioned that she didn’t add sugar to this flavor when she made it because there was enough sugar in the milk she used, plus the sugar of the fruit. So it’s cool to know =).
I will definitely come back and try the other flavors.

Spiced chocolate is good if you like spicy. You taste the chocolate then the spicyness kicks you in the mouth. So if you like spicy, I think you will really like this flavor =).

I’m only in Wheaton for a meeting today, visiting from Chicago. After an amazing lunch at Seoul Food I espied a toddler sized plastic ice cream cone next to a steep stairway. Always intrigued by the possibility of good ice cream, I climbed up to find some of the richest most delicious ice cream I’ve ever had. It’s all homemade by the owner whose mother had a much beloved ice cream store down the street that she closed when she retired. As of this writing the daughter had only had this shop open for 11 months. She told me she’s about to start offering food too. I saw the menu and it looks like it promises to be as good as the ice cream!

First of all, the place smelled like sweet waffle cones when we walked in — Come find out they make their own cones!!! Win. Amazing homemade ice creams, with dairy free choices too. I chose vanilla (basic I know but the vanilla flavor was so on point!) and mint chocolate chip /​also a hit. Super creamy, thick and delicious. Next time I’ll go for some more of the exotic flavors they have, like Guava!
Awesome family owned hidden gem in Wheaton!

Generally, I would not have walked into a place with such a silly name. but, we were craving ice-​cream and this place had great reviews. So glad we stopped in. The woman working was super nice and let us try pretty much every flavor. I ended up getting coconut (the best coconut ice cream I’ve EVER had) and guava, my cousin had tamarind and passion fruit. I thought the price was pretty good, as the scoops are big. My only complaint is the shop itself. The walls are crazy colors, there’s random crates and stuff everywhere. Its not a really appealing place to sit an enjoy your ice cream, but I can deal with it since its so delish.

The tropical ice cream here is amazing. It’s a big space, you can try samples before selecting a flavor, and the ginger and mamey sapote (a fruit I’d never heard of, tasted like cinnamon) flavors were amazing. The tamarind also tasted good. Servings aren’t particularly large, but that’s good if you’re trying to avoid making yourself sick eating too much ice cream. It’s really near the Wheaton bus terminal, and you don’t have to cross any streets to get there from the buses.

This is an old fashioned ice cream shop with quality treats. All the ice cream and sorbet is hand made by the owner. When asked about a rare, specialty flavor she went into her private reserve and got out peanut butter for us to purchase a quart. Amazing customer service and delicious desserts!

Went back to Yummy In My Tummy yesterday. There was a whole new selection of ice cream from the last time I was in. Many sugar-​free varieties available. What blew me away was the new flavors I had never tried before. Exotic fruit flavors from Peru, Brazil and other places. All the ice cream is home made. When I asked about Peanut Butter, the strangely illusive flavor I am always in search for, SHE HAD IT! I bought a pint of that, but ordered GUINNESS ice-​cream and French Almond for the road. Delicious.
This place is tucked away in a strip mall on a busy road. Not a lot of business goes through here. This place is a gem. Check it out for great ice cream and exotic you-​never-​had-​this-​before flavors!

Yummy in My Tummy is a great local ice cream shop with a wide variety of tasty flavors. I’m so happy that they chose Wheaton for their home! Do yourself a favor try some of their tropical fruit flavors when you visit. You may find a new favorite! Yummy in My Tummy also has classic ice cream flavors if you aren’t ready to try something new quite yet.
My favorite flavor so far is coconut ginger: it has a great texture with tasty bits of coconut and the refreshing zing of ginger! Yummy indeed.

GREAT ice cream. And they have a million flavors. Try whatever the staff recommends. We had mango, no sugar added — fantastic! We also tried Nutty Whiskey — also great. Soooo good!

Used a groupon to try this new place out. There is plenty of parking in the back. The lady is so friendly and allowed me to try five different ones until I decided on the flavor I wanted. I love the Guava the best. Not overly sweet and very fragrant of the real fruit taste. I’ll be back and with more friends!

So… this place is a total scam! They sell Jack & Jill Ice Cream but say it’s their own, made in-​house! You can clearly see the ice cream containers and the labels on the containers and they say Jack and Jill Ice Cream and the flavor. I was pretty shocked to see this after reading all these glowing Unilocal reviews. Ordered two scoops in a small cup of the Blueberry Cheesecake but later regretted it when I looked up the ingredients list on the Jack and Jill Ice Cream website and saw it included things like…
CORN SYRUP, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, NATURAL FLAVOR, F, D, & C, RED NO. 40, F, D, & C, BLUE NO.1, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED COTTONSEED AND SOYBEAN OIL, SODIUM BICARBONATE, CARAMEL COLOR, SOY LECITHIN, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CAROB BEAN GUM, XANATHAN GUM, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, GUAR GUM, CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE GUM, POLYSORBATE 80, and CARRAGEENAN.
What???
My friend also ordered two scoops of a different flavor and for the two cups, each with two scoops — it was $ 11!
Dishonest and a rip-​off.

BEST ICECREAM IVE EVER TASTED, the staff are so friendly, they have flavours that other ICECREAM stores don’t make. This is my new go to whenever I NEEED some homemade icecream. There no space in the parking lot in front but they have a lot of space in the rear parking lot. U can park there & go through the back Door (they have a back dooor)

First off, here are some suggestions: Park in the lot (or any meter) behind Georgia Avenue because parking is scarce in this tiny strip mall. Also, at least one of the businesses on the Georgia Avenue side isn’t kid friendly. You can walk up through a back entrance or walk around to the front.
The ice cream is all homemade and creamy, and my favorite part is trying something new. The owner is happy to provide samples. She was preparing Guinness ice cream when we were there (it wasn’t ready). How do I know? She was opening the beer bottles while we ate our cones. Other flavors were freezing and on their way (like peach). My wife liked the Coconut-​Ginger (I’m not a ginger fan) and I enjoyed Soursop. You have to accept that a unique flavor available one day might not be available the next time since the owner makes it all herself, but being able to try different flavors of high-​quality ice cream is a treat in itself.

Wheaton is arguably the best place in the city for little, family run places, and finally we have a decent ice cream parlor. I had the coconut, and it was the best coconut ice cream I’ve ever had. Creamy and full of flavor, it tasted natural and perfectly sweetened.
It turns out this place is the extension of the old tropical ice cream place down Georgia as it is run by her daughter. Wheaton is the perfect neighborhood for this place, and I’m really excited it is here. I hope it gets the support it deserves.

Incredible Ice Cream and really nice staff. I had three groupons and we had a difference of opinion if I could use 3 for 3 kids but she agreed and it worked out great. I totally intend to return. Coconut Ice cream was amazing and my daughter totally loved the lemon sorbet. The prices are great and there is lots of room to sit down. I felt like I was sort of transported to the Caribbean with the colors on the walls. Park in back in Triangle parking lot and take the walkway up and turn left. It is totally worth it!!!

I was a big fan of tropical ice cream and it closed down and the family has reopened in Wheaton. It is the same great ice cream and the daughter is the owner of the new place. She is super friendly and this is a great spot to get ice cream. They specialize in a lot of fancy tropical flavors which are all amazing but their best flavor is the peanut butter. This is a great family spot and I really hope it grows and flourishes in that location. The front parking lot can be a little tight to get into so I recommend parking around back and using the rear entrance and because there is plenty of parking back there.

If you miss Tropical Ice Cream as much as I do, then you’re in for a real treat… Literally!
The daughter of the owner of the aforementioned ice cream shop has opened up shop of her own, just a few miles north. And it is just as yummy in your tummy as Momma’s! Same unique flavors and traditional one too. My pal and I escaped the long lines of their festival stand and climbed the back stairs to a cooling oasis of flavors. She, the strawberry cheesecake. Me, the Soursop. It’s a perfect cure for the summertime heat at just $ 2.99 a scoop.

If you remember Tropical Ice Cream on Georgia Ave near 16^th, this is an offshoot that is owned by the daughter. This family know hows to make good ice cream, and the flavor list is really interesting. My friend and I went for the coconut-​ginger, after nearly being sidetracked by passion fruit and tamarind. Let me tell you! Creamy, smooth, ice cream base bursting with sweet and chewy coconut and spicy ginger. Delicious! They’ve currently got a Groupon running — go buy it, then stop by and try something! They have «normal» ice cream flavors too, for the slightly less adventurous.

Lots of flavor choices and the lady who works there is really nice! Great homemade ice cream and the waffle cone was reaaaally gooood. Would recommend to anyone.
