Brad and Sue Johnston have been the owners of BJ’s Automotive since 1989. They were first located in Reseda CA and have been in Simi Valley Since 1999 at their present location. BJ’s Automotive has been AAA Approved by the Automobile Club of Southern California for over ten years with a 100% customer satisfaction rating.

I completely ground my back rotors to the ribbons and was afraid I was afraid how much it would cost to repair. I went to BJs and spoke to Brad who offered me a fair price and ran me through every maintenance option I’d been unknowingly neglecting over the past few years. Great place, great service.

a while ago we bought a used truck and took it to BJ’s auto repair to get a minor issue fixed. the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. they are not pushy and do a great job.

BJ’s name should be changed to BS. He claimed to have installed a OEM part in my car and I verified that it was in fact «after market». The OEM part is cheaper than the part he installed. I asked him point blank, where did you get the part? He stated through the dealership (in other words he lied). I am not the first person he has done this too, nor will I be the last. He likes to pad the bill — so watch out. Never again!

I needed a smog certification. Friendly fast service! I will definitely take my car there whenever I need any smog check service. Even offered me a bottle of cold water while I waited. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I just want to say I am very pleased with this facility! My smog didn’t pass last month ran it twice and catalyst kept coming up. I was informed by dealership I need a new catalyst. Of course they over price everything! I was shopping around shops getting quotes came across BJ’s automotive based on all their great reviews. Took my car in today expecting to pay a good amount of money. They gave me a call couple hours later and said… You passed smog and the catalyst is fine it does not need to be replaced. You only owe 62.50 I wanted to cry! I was in shock! Their are actually good people out there not ripping people off. I will definitely be going back to them for any future car problems. They do smog as well! God bless that place. They saved me a ton of money! Very friendly staff & professional! I recommend them to my coworkers, friends & family!

I trust Brad and Sue’s assessment of, and work performed on, all of our vehicles.
Their work is superb.
They work hard to get my car in the shop if scheduling is tight.
You have to feel good about where you drop your car off and that I do.
As any good mechanic and business owner will do; they’ll also let you know what other items are in need of or will soon need repair. The great part is that they are low pressure about it-​I know of other mechanics that will say nothing about other items needing repair.
They are a very personable business (compared to the gigantic auto chains).
Support them. Keep the money in Simi Valley’s local businesses-​especially upstanding ones such as this, plus, Brad’s kinda funny. Well, he thinks he’s funny; we’ll just let him go on thinking we think he’s funny.
I’m a lifer with these guys. Support them and refer them to your friends.

This place is amazing! I’ve taken two different cars here now and anytime I have a mechanical issue with my car, this will definitely be the place I call.
The first car I took here was my husband’s 2005 Honda civic, he was having some sort of wheel issue. They tried for hours to fix it, however it wasn’t an easy fix. The owner said he could fix it, it would be over 2k but he said it honestly wasn’t worth it. He told us to go get a part from a junk yard and put it on ourselves. He was honest and didn’t try to sell us something that would’ve cost us a bunch of money.
My next visit I took my car in because my A/​C was not blowing cold air, I have a 2010 Mazda. Turns out a part went bad inside my compressor and my freon was super low. They took the time to investigate why my compressor wasn’t turning on after they recharged it. They had to get a part to fix it, but they got it in the same day and my car was ready to go. They charged a decent price for everything, it didn’t feel like I was ripped off at all.
The owners are super nice too, they took the time to explain everything.

I feel obligated to write a review due to my 15 year/​300k milestone on my 2000 Ford Ranger. I got the truck brand new when I was 18 years old. When the shop first opened they had a guy doing door to door promotional sales and my dad purchased a card with discounts on all types of services. Turned out to be a sound investment. Brad and Sue took great care of my truck and instilled the importance of properly maintaining my vehicle. I highly doubt that I would still be driving my truck without them. Thank you for everything over the years.

BJ’s is the best. I made the mistake of going to the dealership mechanic when I inherited my father’s car. Thousands of dollars later and they still couldn’t fix the problem. Finally feed up I brought into Brad. He was honest up front and didn’t give me the run around. FINALLY my car is purring once again. Both Brad and Sue take such great care of me, I feel like part of the family. Save yourself the money and headaches, go see the team over at BJ’s.
