Cardio Barre – Simi Valley

I love these classes, great cardio workout with a lot of fast paced movements using the barre to help you with the correct form and alignment. From start to finish this class has you sweating bullets which is great because you utilize your full hour to the max and its a complete full body workout which I love. I like coming to these classes in between my regular gym sessions during the week to change it up a bit, so these are great classes to go to if your looking for something new to try or just to change up your regular routine at the gym. Melissa is awesome, no matter how full the class is she always manages to make sure everyone has the correct form and helps those who don’t. You’ll definitely see results with these classes!

I’ve been going to Cardio Barre in Simi Valley, since early May. It is an amazing workout with knowledgeable teachers who will challenge you to do your best every moment you are there. Why waste your time doing it half way, right?
On a good week I can make about 5 classes in the week, and I feel energized and healthy. When I can’t make that schedule work for me, I find myself craving the next workout opportunity. You begin to realize that you can do far more than you ever thought; that sweat feels good; and that slowly you will see your muscles getting tighter and firmer.
I have taken classes with all of the instructors and they all have a way of teaching that is encouraging and fun. And they are very patient with helping to correct your form so that you do not get injured.
It is now part of my healthy way of living. Creating the time in my schedule for something that makes me stronger is a treat that I will continue to indulge.

Best workout ever! The amazing teachers motivate you to believe in yourself… you won’t find anything quite like this anywhere else.

While I like the Groupon price and the service I had checking in the classes are difficult. I certainly need more than 1 intro class a week. I cannot keep up in the beginner class and then I struggle to remember the moves from week to week in the intro class. Not to mention coming in that late on a Saturday is extremely difficult because of my social calendar. I don’t think it would be too much for them to have another intro class in the early evening some day during the week. Overall, I’m disappointed and would not recommend this to others as it is too fast and the schedule does not accommodate for new people to join.
Isn’t the purpose to build membership? I did this before signing with a gym but now I think my only option is to spend money elsewhere.
I ended up feeling like my Groupon was a rip off.

I went in yesterday to redeem my groupon. I was so disappointed with Brooke at the front desk. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She asked me if I had been here before I said yes once to try it on Monday and paid the $ 17.00. I loved the class so much I bought the groupon. Very rudely she goes you can’t use the groupon and writes the number for groupon on a sticky note and tells me to call them for a refund. I would have understood if I was a previous member who has paid full price and was trying to get a discounted rate but I have only taken one class and was very excited to try others. Isn’t that was groupons are for? To try them out and join when you’re groupon runs out? It doesn’t matter what the situation is or was the front desk girls should set an example and be kind to potential clients. They should handle the situation nice and way more professional. Sadly, I would have been a client for life but sorry to say Brooke ruined that experience for me. Myself, mom, sister, and sister in law will be finding somewhere else now.

Super disappointed in the experience I had here. I love barre classes so when I saw a groupon for one that offered childcare I was thrilled. The groupon was expiring so I called in to activate it. The woman I spoke to said it wasn’t a problem so I gave her my code and she told me to just fill out the paperwork when I got there. So far so good… Until I actually tried to go to a class. I filled out the paperwork and waited for someone to come to the not so clean childcare area… which only happened once I asked again. The class was going pretty well. Definitely not my favorite barre class of all time but halfway through I went to check on my 15 month old. She was balling– apparently she wasn’t satisfied just trying to be plugged into TV and I don’t blame her. I decide class is over for me. Then the girl proceeds to tell me that the owner doesn’t remember offering an extension (which wasn’t the case) and I had to pay $ 16 for the class (well half of a class) and I was welcome to call the owner. Really? No thanks I will not be coming back. I literally did everything right with the groupon and wasn’t able to use it at all. I went back to get my $ 16 and put my groupon purchase towards it which they did honor but the customer service overall was a disaster.

So I had lost weight doing running but totally lost my butt! I signed up for a month and after two weeks my husband asked me if I got butt implants lol!!! Unfortunately their a bit out of my price range or I would have a constant membership but WORTH EVERY PENNY. Never had an instructor that I didn’t like. The classes get packed but I always get personalized attention during class making sure I was doing the exercises correctly and not hurting myself. They now have more classes available early in the mornings and evenings! QUICK RESULTS, PERSONALIZED, LOVING and CLEAN!

Potentially like many of you out there– my aim was to get back into shape– some sort of shape just not the one I was currently in. My muscles have disappeared, my energy and strength decreased, and well, post-​pregnancy weight lingering on but more importantly my health was not where it ought to be.
It was important for me as a wife and mom to also maintain my health as best as I could and not just sit around. Mamas don’t get a sick day– ya know what I mean? We gotta do our best to be strong & healthy.
When I shopped at Trader Joe’s (conveniently next door neighbor to Cardio Barre) and in the same plaza as Target), the upbeat music and an instructor’s voice would tickle my ears. Of course, I couldn’t avoid looking at the class since I do love things related to sports and exercise.
So, came the day when a groupon deal was offered. I purchased the groupon (a fabulous deal) and busted out my spandex and headed to my first class.
I was welcomed with smiley faces and a genuine «How are you doing?» Customer service tells a lot about a business especially as you walk in the door. The front staff provided all of the information that I needed.
The studio is clean and has plenty of cubbie areas to place your belongings. The restrooms are spic and span. There is one main huge room where the class takes place. They sell refreshments such as water and energy bars, if you need. Also, they have workout gear (pants, etc.) that they sell as well. There is a small room for childcare.
Alright– let’s get on to the workout– the class. Look. I walked into there thinking «Oh, how good can this be? There are so many fad classes out there.» Buckle your seat belts b/​c you will be floored.
The routines work out your entire body. True– there are routines where it seems like it’s focusing on one part of your body– for example, there are exercises that focus on your gluteal muscles aka buttocks but really, we are using almost every part of your body to help work that area out and in turn, you work out your entire body. There are many reps that we do for a routine and it is helpful in that I am able to make little corrections here and there and wow– the effect of just making a little adjustment is a bit unreal. This was one of the first classes that I took where my body was craving for the next class.
I felt like my body was stretched in a good way– like not stretched as in challenged as it was BUT like I felt taller after the class; I felt like areas of my body that felt tight such as my neck and shoulder area– were stretched and loosened. My muscles resurrected– I felt stronger and I had more energy.
The first 2 classes felt like learning to ride a bike (in a good way) in that it’s something new but really after those classes I felt like I knew what routine was next and felt like it was more predictable. They have an intro class that would have probably helped me but I just got right into it.
Listen folks– I had a health and weight goal in mind (my cholesterol was creeping up and had to be controlled). With Cardio Barre and with reevaluating and changing how I eat (not diet! just smarter and realistic eating), I lost my prepregnancy weight, gained muscles, and gained energy. For me, my family saw my body changing in about a month. I am especially drawn to this specific class because it is low-​impact but still strengthens, a great combo of cardio and also toning and strengthening exercises. I like the diversity of routines because you know how challenging it could be mentally to focus on doing one type of exercise over and over again. For me, I needed to focus on getting my heart rate going but also building and toning muscles– not like bulky muscles.
The class I usually attend is taught by Lauren. She is fantastic! She is a great teacher in that she guides you through each routine, maintains your rhythm while you’re doing your reps by counting often and reminding how many reps are left, fixes mistakes by encouraging what we should be doing, and she just makes you feel encouraged and focused. I’ve also taken classes by Heidi and she is an awesome instructor! I like how we don’t waste time and we keep moving! Really, the class is about what we put into it and the amount of effort we bring into it. The exercise routines, instructors, AND what I, ME, put into it all work together to help reach a goal.
By the way, I usually walk out of class feeling like jello (that wonderful feeling of feeling like I worked out– such an awesome feeling). Thankful to workout and be able to experience such a refreshing feeling!
Bring a large towel to lay on (for ab and other workouts) and water. Also, shoes are not allowed on the workout floor. You can wear socks. I would also arrive 5 – 10 minutes early as sometimes classes can get full! Childcare is available. Call ahead for more information.

AT LAST!!!
I LOVE ballet as a way to keep fit. It’s amazing cardio all by itself, but when you add the barre method in (using weights, doing arm workouts, etc) it just becomes downright damn addictive. Sadly, I was no longer able to continue taking ballet at Moorpark College, and I didn’t want to go to any of the studios in the area. I do not want to be surrounded by children.
When I came across the Cardio Barre groupon, I KNEW I had to try it. I started with the beginner classes on Tuesday at 6:30, with Heidi. She’s amazing. This class is amazing. It’s a great envoirnment to be in, first off. There’s no men leering at you or asking you out after class (I attended a traditional gym with my best friend once and it was an awful experience-​despite the fact that we were both wearing fake wedding rings, we each had two separate older men approach us on two different occasions asking if we wanted to go out with them afterwards. I go to they gym to get fit, not to get hit on.) The fact that Cardio Barre’s enviornment is so positive is a HUGE plus for me.
I do well in classes where I can follow along, rather than doing solo workouts. This is a class where women of all builds and backgrounds come in to work out in a safe space. I love the workout method and how it’s structured, and Heidi pushes you to go further each and every time you attend. She’s so encouraging, it’s awesome. I can definitely see a positive change in my body after my classes (I go once a week, sometimes twice) and my mental well-​being has improved too.
They have free childcare too, which is awesome if you’re a busy mom. Cardio Barre is more expensive than most other gyms in the area, but I do think it is worth it if you thrive in classes and really want a different, unique workout that will give you results. Make sure to bring a towel and water bottle if you come! You will SWEAT. They do sell towels for $ 16 if you forget yours, and you can also rent one for about $ 3.
But you’ll feel so good afterwards, it won’t even matter. Cardio Barre is awesome! I plan on buying the monthly unlimited after my groupon ends, I love this workout so much. I feel strange if I don’t go at least once a week. LOVE IT.

I’m absolutely hooked! After years of searching for something that would keep me engaged, Cardio Barre has far exceeded that. I’m actually excited to go every time! All the instructors are awesome and make sure your technique is correct.
There is free childcare for every class, which is a lifesaver with my two young boys. The kids room is small so it can get crowded, but the girls are so sweet and always happy to see my kids.
It is definitely more expensive than 24 hours or Gold’s, but worth every penny! I figured after my Group on I would just pop in for a class every once in awhile. Not a chance! I’m there 3 – 4 days a week and love the results!

I started these classes with a Groupon and I’m glad I did as the price initially turned me off. However, I have since learned you clearly get what you pay for! You can pay for months and months at a gym and never get the physical and mental benefits of Cardio Barre. Don’t let the idea of ballet based workout fool you… You WILL sweat. No dance experience needed. (Also I think childcare is free when you take classes– not certain, but pretty sure). BTW… I have also learned this is the least expensive of all the cardio barres and the instructors rock (I’m partial to Heidi and Lauren) but they are all amazing. You will see results after only a few classes.

I took Barre Method classes for a while and ever since the location I went to closed down, I was looking for another barre-​like class until I found Cardio Barre. I was really excited because it was so close to home, so I bought a Groupon for 10 classes, which was $ 39. I thought it was a deal considering how much I paid for all of my other fitness classes even on Groupon.
For those who are considering taking Cardio Barre because you think it’s like Pop Physique, Pure Barre, or Barre Method, it is NOT. It is far from any other barre-​like class I’ve ever taken, which isn’t a bad thing. It incorporates a lot of fast movements while using ballet positions. This class uses the bar majority of the time. The beginner’s class is extremely fast paced and almost hard to follow. The class is always full with maximum 30 people with 1 instructor. You could imagine how hard it is for the instructor to come over and help or correct your form. You basically have to rely on the person in front of you to learn the routine.
If you’re like me and have never taken ballet before, you will get lost. The instructor goes along the routine telling us to go from 1 position to 2^nd then back. I’m not even sure how many positions there are. I was kind of turned off by the classes even after my first class because I just felt like I was kicking my feet around all over the place.
Did I get a good workout? I think so. I’m sure if I were doing everything correctly I would’ve felt more of a burn.
I’m fairly active. I’m not saying I didn’t like this class because I’m out of shape. It was just very different and seemed very unorganized for a fitness class. I think that instead of squeezing as many bodies in the room as possible, the studio should focus on a limited amount of people. That way, those people will actually benefit from the class.
I am a bargain shopper and don’t like to waste money. I, however, did not go to all of my 10 classes, which means I wasted money purchasing this deal. I chose not to go the remainder of my classes because I felt like they were not beneficial.
If by any chance, you don’t like my advice and would still like to join this class, be sure to bring a bottle of water and also a towel. At the end of the class, you will be on the floor and it’s really disgusting if you don’t bring a towel. You will end up lying on their carpet.

H.O.L.Y. C.O.W! The fitness class totally kicks my butt every time. I purchased the groupon to try it out and after the first week I saw results. I had been working out at the gym for a month and saw nothing, one week here made all the difference! I cancelled my gym membership too just so I can keep going to these classes. Even the beginner class is really fast paced and confusing, 5 classes in and I still get lost, but it’s completely worth it. Worth every penny!

I am not one for working out. I have recently started dieting/​exercising to lose weight before my wedding. I have tried many types of classes from boot camps to pilates. Cardio Barre is definitely my favorite. I found them with the groupon deal and have continued to go about 5 days a week. It focuses on all my problem areas, especially inner, outer, and back of thighs. I have been going for almost two months and my fiancé and I already see a difference! Instead just getting stronger and bulking up, it elongates while strengthening (so no thunder thighs). I love it and continue to go.

I recently started taking classes here after getting an amazing groupon deal and it’s safe to say I’m hooked. I’m planning on continuing classes once my groupon deal runs out.
All the instructors are amazing but Jenn and Lauren are my favorite. I’ve haven’t felt this sore in quite some time (being an avid exerciser). This workout is very different to anything I’ve tried before hence the appeal. I’ve only taken a handful of classes so far and feel longer and stronger (especially in the core) each time I walk out of this class.
Tips for first time attendees:
The workouts are done barefoot (so make sure your feet are looking cute)!
Make sure to bring a large towel for floor work. They sell cute cardio barre ones for $ 16 in a variety of colors.
It gets packed quickly so arriving 15 mins prior to start time would be ideal (to ensure getting a good spot).

I found Cardio Barre a year ago through a Groupon and I just kept on going because I was hooked! I’m not much of a gym person, and I prefer group sessions because 99% of the time, I have no idea what to do by myself. This workout is a kick-​my-​butt kind of workout. I’ve lost 60+ lbs. over the last 12 months and Cardio Barre has played a huge part in my fitness. An hour a day, three days a week, better food choices and BAM!!! The bonus plan is complimentary child care, essentially eliminating one more excuse not to get fit. Come check it out!

If you want to get in shape, go here! It’s a lot of fun and you see results fast. The carpet needs replacing. Wear socks and bring a towel.

I’ve been doing this class for a month 4x a week and I still don’t weigh under 100 pounds and still don’t have a six pack… oh it doesn’t work that way? Dammit.
I’ve NEVER been a fan of working out… EVER…but take it from me this class is so much fun and goes by super quick.
There’s a lot of ballet inspired moves but also be prepared of the «bar thighs» section. Lots of leg lifts while you’re bent over at a 90 degree angle. It’ll make you wish you didn’t have a butt to work for.

Kelly– Probably my favorite. Super nice. Really keeps you motivated.
Melissa– Will kick your butt! Will always come around to correct your form. She always reminds you why you are suffering through this class in the first place. Her body is AMAZING.
Lauren– Another sweet girl. She makes you feel comfortable even when you’re new. Seriously everyone is nice here!
Jenn– I have yet to take a class with her but I’m sure she’s just as nice as everyone else.
Seriously I don’t know how they memorize your name but they do. 30 girls to a class is not easy but they do it.
The part I love the most is at the very end during your cool down. I know this isn’t much but I love that the instructors lower their voice and come around and give you a 5 sec massage when you’re stretching.
It’s the little things that they instructors do that make me want to come back for another month… here we go…

Snap, crackle, and motherF***IN POP. Cardio Barre took me to SCHOOL. Showed me how out of shape I am and awakened all of my Rip Van Winkle sleeping muscles.
I’d recommend taking the intro class first, where you’ll get a breakdown of the basic movements that are used. The only difference between the intro and beginner classes are that the beginner classes go at a faster pace, so the teachers won’t stop to tell you how to do the next exercise, but will command you to switch at a hat’s drop. Also, the intro class lets you get accustomed to what to expect– I almost passed out my first time because it was fast. ALWAYS BRING WATER. I learned my lesson.
The teachers are ridiculously motivating without being demeaning. Just when you want to give up because you think your arms will fall off they’ll push you to work harder. And somehow, I’m mystified as to HOW, they remember everyone’s name. They will come right up behind your ass and say ‘Good job, MARI. Keep going, MARI’ before moving on to the next person. All while they’re doing half the exercises with you, AND talking into their headsets. Superpowers.
The best part about Cardio Barre is that it works every freakin muscle. You won’t just work your legs– you’ll do specific exercises to work your inner thighs, then your outer thighs, then your calves, then your quads… Depending on what the instructor is feeling that day, they’ll pick a specific muscle group to work on even harder.
Melissa (the owner) is the hardest instructor but also the best. She’ll take you to hell and back. The more you do Cardio Barre, the harder AND easier it gets. Easier in that it’ll be like muscle memory and you won’t even have to think about what the next move is. HARDER in that as your form improves, and you understand which muscles the movements are supposed to target, you’re working yourself out more.
I could see how Cardio Barre would get repetitive after some time, but I’m sure that at least 3 months of hardcore, dripping sweat, about to have a hernia dedication would benefit anyone!

In the past my workouts could best be compared to a yo-​yo. I’d do it for a while and then I’d stop; continuing this pattern for years and years. After finding Cardio Barre this all changed! I’ve been going for almost a year now (3 – 6 days a week) and I can say that I’ve become addicted. I use to think people were CRAZY when they’d say this, but now I know what it feels like.
When I worked out in the past I always wanted to do my own thing so people wouldn’t judge me (I’m not very thin, never have been). But at Cardio Barre I don’t get that feeling. The women that go and the instructors are so nice and all seem really genuine. On top of that, the instructors are so MOTIVATING. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place. The BEST workout EVER, and the best 60 minutes of my day!
