I started workingatRebel Engineas mechanic in 1979, for the founder and previous owner Doug Lincoln. I left Rebel Engine in 1988 to open my own Auto Repair Shop. When Doug retired I bought Rebel Engine from him in 2004. Inow continue Doug’s commitmentand strive for excellence in all repairs. I’m a one man shop so when your vehicle is repaired at Rebel Engine you will be getting one on one care. I have always thought of every car that I work on as being one of my own and only repair the things that need to be repaired. All repairs are guaranteed.

History

Established in 1964.

Rebel Engine was established 1963 as Rebel Foreign Car Parts. In the early 70’s the name was changed to Rebel Engine.

I started working at Rebel Engine as a mechanic in 1979, for the founder and previous owner Doug Lincoln. At the time, there were very few shops specializing in European cars and what were known then as «Japanese imports’. A customer mentioned that because of this, we were rebels. The name stuck, and so Doug named his shop Rebel Engine. I left Rebel Engine in 1988 to open my own Auto Repair Shop. When Doug retired I bought Rebel Engine from him in 2004. I now continue Doug’s commitment and strive for excellence in all repairs. I’m a one man shop so when your vehicle is repaired at Rebel Engine you will be getting one on one care. I have always thought of every car that I work on as being one of my own and only repair the things that need to be repaired. All repairs are guaranteed.

My Dad has been here a few times to repair his Honda Accord.
The first time it was out of pure convenience. The check engine light was on and the car was idling wrong. Rick found an issue with a hose and less than $ 80 later, he was up and running.
Yesterday, his car had a weird winding sound when he started it. So he called Rick and he already knew it was the alternator. Gave him a quote over the phone and the time it will be ready.
Convenient, honest, and repair costs are reasonable.

I’ve been coming to Rebel Engine for repairs for over five years and I must say that Rick is great. He is an extremely trustworthy and capable mechanic and business owner. I have had mechanics I have liked and have trusted but none as much as Rick. He gives honest and fair advice and does a great job. Mechanics that are quick, skilled, fair priced, and honest (and personable) are a rare find and Rick is one. I highly recommend Rebel Engine.

Rick is the most honest and knoweldgeable mechanic and business I’ve come across in a really long time. Even though this man is crazy busy he makes you feel like he’s given you quality assistance you know why? Because he has he takes the time to research your situation and explain to you what is going on in detail. If you want honest and reasonable work go to Rebel Engine. I promise you that you will not be dissapointed!

We’ve known Rick for many years and our family has always taken their vehicles to him for service and repair. Even since our children moved out of the area, they still bring their vehicles back to Rebel Engine in Simi Valley. Rick is knowledgeable, fair and a great diagnostic mechanic. When there is a deadline to meet, he always seems to be able to get our car back to us within that time frame. We appreciate the fact that we have never felt over charged or dissatisfied with the completed work to our vehicles. It brings us great piece of mind to have a mechanic we can trust and always rely on.

Rick is awesome. He always is straight forward and tells you exactly what you need done without trying to add random other expenses like some mechanics. Coming from a 20 year old girl, I’m glad that I can take my car to rick and know that he’ll help me out without taking advantage of the fact that I know nothing about by car, haha. Would definitely recommend his shop to anyone!

Rick is great to explain what happened with the car. He even drives it see what is wrong. He had to do that with mine to see what is wrong. He could not figure it out until he drove it. I have been going to rebel engine for the past several years. I will not go any where else. He does great work.

My father told me if I was not going to learn about cars I needed to find a mechanic that really knows his stuff and won’t cheat you. I found this in Rick and I have never thought twice about going anywhere else. Rebel Engine is the only place I take my personal vehicles and my business trucks. I have been going to Rick for years. I have told family and friends about Rick and the smart ones are now taking their vehicles to him.

A PROFESSIONAL — — 2010-​03-​22
This will sound like the other reviews but it is true. My fluid gauge and oil gauge pegged to the left in under a second. I pulled off of the freeway and a couple of minutes later I limped back toSimi Valley with the «check engine light» on. I took the car into Rebel Engine today thinking it will cost whatever it will cost and I’ll just have to bite the bullet. Due to personal circumstances I needed the car repaired immediately. Rick greeted me with a smile and hooked up the OBD’s scanner to the computer interface. He moved through the diagnostics with skill and expertise. He found that the two warnings were both over-​heating related and checked the cooling system. He found it too low and filled it with the proper amount of antifreeze. I asked him if he could power flush the system to improve the condition of the system (car is 10 years old). He advised me to just carry a gallon of water and check the fluid level before starting out each morning.
I asked for the bill and he said there isn’t one. Have a great day.

The main thing I liked about this place is that the guy who runs it (Rick?) took a lot of time to try to explain to me what was going on with my car. It seemed like he knew his stuff and really enjoys his job. I know a little about cars but not a ton. Rick was able to break-​down some complex things (like dual spark plug combustion) in a simple way. It gives you a good feeling about your car when you get the sense that the mechanics actually care! Also this place gave me a very fair price! Highly Recommended!
