History

Established in 1982.

The 80’s were good to us. We got our start as a local natural food store under the name ‘Ye Old Mill’.

The store burned down in 1995 due to an electrical fire.

The founders George and Luella Wight didn’t give up without a fight and with a background in rocket engine technology George knew that because of the Rocketdyne nuclear meltdown possibly contaminating local drinking water that he would make sure we have the purest water around.

We offer Distilled, Reverse Osmosis, and Alkaline water.

Residential, Commercial, and Personal water filtration are our specialty. We also carry many necessities for environmental disasters that we believe everyone should have in their home.

We changed our name to The Environmental Store because we believe that there are better ways to care for ourselves and our environment. Partner with us in making the world a better place… one choice at a time!

Roger W.

Manager

Roger and Darrel Wight are the sons of George and Luella Wight.

George was the first water store in Southern California and established a flowing business before the 118 freeway was built. The Environmental Store sat on the only road in and out of Simi Valley.

When George passed away his faithful sons took over the business and have continued to build it’s legacy!

Our family has been buying water since the early 90’s. We were especially glad to have a supply of good, clean water on hand after the ’94 earthquake. We were happy to share with our neighbors. After the earthquake the quality, taste and appearance of our tap water was even worse than before so we use «George’s» water for much more than drinking. We are very spoiled now. No other water measures up! We were saddened to learn that George had died. I had many very interesting conversation with him and miss him. But we will continue to make our trek to the store as long as they are open to get our water and see Roger and Darryl!

I’ve been driving from Moorpark for over 15 years to get distilled drinking water from this shop. The price has increased once. Just once. And it’s still a steal! There is no chemical taste to this water. Water should not have a taste to it and this truly has no taste.
I miss George, but his family still runs the place and they are all friendly, kind and helpful. I will continue to patronize their store. This is how a business should be run. Great products, great prices and the employees are knowledgeable and caring.

My whole family has been coming here for years. They sell both distilled and ro water along with air purifiers. The water is cleaner and cheaper than any other store. The place has been owned and operated by the same family forever. It is a small rustic store in a unique neighborhood. We drive all the way from calabasas every week to buy our water here. Can’t be beat!
