Johnny Rockets has been around since ’86, starting off in LA. The menu offers burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, shakes, floats, as well as kid options. This particular Johnny Rockets is located near Barnes & Noble, and have limited seating. I usually stick to their BLT sandwich, as it comes pretty well-stacked with bacon, lots of may for its spread, lettuce, fresh slices of tomatoes, all on a toasted white bread. The fries are okay, but a little underseasoned. I always liked the fact that the server always draws a happy smile with the ketchup: P Some coins are given so you can choose songs for the general play list. +BLT sandwich +ketchup happy smile +near Barnes & Noble

I’m sad that the tabletop juke boxes don’t work anymore, it was part of the old-school appeal of this place. Now they kind of just sit there, and don’t take your nickels. The food is okay, I’ve never been really impressed by their burgers. But they do have some great fries and tots and milkshakes. Honestly I’ll make a meal(albeit not a very healthy one) out of some loaded tots or chili cheese fries and a milkshake and prefer that over the burgers. They have consistent service with the same quirky things(like the smiley face ketchup), and the décor is very 50’s counter service and booths. Food is hit or miss, but it’s an establishment now in Old Orchard, and if you’re looking for a really good milkshake, it’s definitely the place to go.

Stopped in after a movie and the food was freakin awesome!!! Servers were even better! Hubby totally wiped plate clean and if i hadn’t eaten all the popcorn at the movie i would’ve finished my burger will be back for more!

I was surprised but then not surprised at my lunchtime meal with Johnny yesterday. I wasn’t sure what to expect but ordered the Route 66 burger with unlimited fries for just an additional $ 2. The burger came out very tasty with grilled mushrooms, swiss cheese and grilled onions. The part that is not surprising was how greasy the hamburger was, but for a good tasting burger, you need to have some fat! The only shocker for me was the price of soda was $ 2.69 and the price for a shake is only about 50 cents more. They also have mini iPad-like gadgets to play music and games for a fee at your tables now. Service was prompt and courteous so didn’t need to play games.

Call me crazy, but Johnny Rockets has the best flipping burgers around. I wish there was more locations out here in Chicago! The sauce is so good!

My first time ever at a Johnny Rockets(09÷07÷15)! It may not be as good as In N Out but their burgers are pretty good that I would definitely return. I ordered the Route 66(Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions & mayonnaise.) Hubby ordered the Smoke House Single(Smoked bacon, crispy sourdough onion rings, cheddar cheese and special recipe«Smoke House» barbecue-ranch sauce) with unlimited sweet potato fries(extra $ 3 I think) but when we asked for refill, our server gave us regular fries. So that was disappointing; but other than that, it was a good experience overall. The staff was friendly and they even gave my son a paper hat in addition to the coloring book to keep the little one occupied. :) The women’s restroom has one stall(one person at a time) but it was clean.

Not the best but no the worst I’ve had either. I like that you can customize your burger and actually see them make it, since I love to micromanage, lol. I thought they were a little bit cheap on the amount of fries and onion rings we received, especially since you have to buy those separate. I also though that for a fast food place and for lunch, it was pricey. We got two burgers, fries, onion rings, and two iced teas and the total ended up being $ 35. The meat itself was not the best, seemed way too over done.

Tried shak Shake but too crowded. I would not return here. The hot dog was cold sent it back and waited and waited. Finally told them forget it. The manager is so inept he comped us the hot dog we never got… really! Should have waited at the shak. I think Johnny Rockets will be gone next year.

I love the burgers here! Jose was quick to take my take out order. I order the #12 burger along with fries and a deluxe shake. He quickly made the shake for me whilst the burger and fries were being cooked. My order was ready in about 15 minutes. The burger was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fries were not oversalted and greasy at all. The veggies and all were fresh and the shake was thick and delicious. Overall, I like the service and the food. Would come back again(it was my 3rd time though lol)

Not that good. For a 7 dollar burger, it’s on the list of one of my worst tasting burgers. They call their food«Farm-fresh». WTF does that even mean?. Despite their fries being unlimited, they are not fresh-cut and are clearly frozen fries they throw into the fryer. Would not recommend. If you had 7 bucks for a burger, find a 5 Guys. This place is not good.

Who loves unlimited light and crispy french fries? Me, me! Aside from the fact that it was so beyond loud on my last visit due to a kiddo birthday party, I am giving this place four stars. The service was perfect… I mean perfect. When I lived in the city, I spent years making the stop to Johnny’s near Water Tower place. Talk about some grrrreat people watching. The view at Old Orchard doesn’t leave much to be desired, but I thoroughly enjoyed the classic BBQ and bacon patty with cheese and an onion ring inside for $ 6.50. The single patty was more than plenty to fill up on, and with the family, it was a huge bonus that they now have a $ 2 unlimited fries deal. The waitress suggested getting this so I could share with the whole table, which is exactly what I did. Never once did we go without anything, and our server came by several times. The manager even stopped by to check in on us. Major bonus was the fact that they came around with Oreo shake samples. Uh yeah, we were happy to sample those. Great service, good value, LOUD! I mean really loud when it gets busy. Got kids in tow or want to chat over a burger? Take note you might not be able to hear the person across the table from you. But, the unlimited fries make it worthwhile :-)

Toss-up between 2 and 3 stars, but price/value has moved this down the scale. The food is OK, but nothing special — 3 stars The prices — $ 6 for a burger, add $ 2 for fries, add $ 3 for a soda — 3 stars The quantity was lacking — 2 stars Service — on the poor side of adequate — 2 stars My recommendation — head to Steak n Shake

We been coming every Thursday. My son love their cheese burger and hot dog. All the time every meal is hot, fresh and service very fast. We love everything on the menu. So I would recommend this place specially family’s with kids, because every Thursday 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm free for kids. You can’t beat this deal

I haven’t been to Johnny Rockets in ages. Having said that, my husband and I went because we had some decent coupons. Arrived at lunch time, usually a busy time, but it was empty. Service was iffy. We asked that our milkshake arrive with the burgers but it was served ahead of time. The burgers were tasty and the fries, too salty, but overall, okay. Back in the day, they used to give customers a couple of nickels to play music, but, again, that has probably been discontinued. There are now several burger options at Old Orchard and it looks like Johnny Rockets will not be there much longer.

The food was great and the service was great. The only thing i have to say is that their Coke is very flat. Our waitress was very nice and made sure we were ok, she also gave us better refills. The food came out fast and was great.

For the classic diner experience Johnny Rocket’s cannot be beat. I used to get their Egg Salad sandwich that I loved more than life itself but they stopped making it. But I keep going back to get my new favorite thing… Now I get the Rocket Single and fries with a chocolate malt and I always leave happy. The burger itself is tasty but very messy to eat. Ask for extra napkins if they don’t bring them. It’s the closest I can get to that famous west coast chain and I love that they use iceberg lettuce instead of green leaf. The fries are fantastic and I’m not usually into fries. The malt is so good I don’t know what they put in there but it’s better than any other malt I’ve had and I’ve had many. The environment is happy and upbeat and they play classic tunes and thankfully they stopped singing because that was annoying. Service can be spotty at times but overall is good. This last time they brought my burger in less than 5 minutes. Everyone is friendly and happy and I always enjoy my time here. Check it out if you love diners!

Okay, I will admit that I was born in 1961 and I love things from the past, especially 50’s style diners and 50’s music. Welcome to Johnny Rockets where you can definitely feel nostalgic and happy because this place brings those things/feelings back once again in only the best of ways. Upon entering you hear the greatest music/songs of the past, you can sit at the stainless steel counter or in one of the booths shiny red in color. So retro, so perfect! The nice staff will bring you a menu and you can make your choice/selection, but for the record if you go to Johnny Rocket’s you owe it to yourself to treat yourself to a burger, and I would highly recommend the Smokehouse Burger, so good! I also treated myself to a Creamsicle Shake well just because and it was pretty good, could’ve used a bit more whipped cream but I’m not going to be petty here, even though I love whipped cream as much as I love marshmallows, anyway… So, I am rating my first Johnny Rockets Experience with a solid 4 stars because I loved the music, interior, the burger and the staff was very nice indeed. So, if out in Skokie at Westfield Old Orchard you should stop in to Johnny Rockets. What a great blast from the past, just a great vibe going on in there! Next time I visit Old Orchard I’ll be stopping in at Johnny Rockets again, Because for me, this place brings back great memories. And, that’s a feeling I never want to lose…

I was at here with my sister, young adult nephew, and 2 children. The staff were great and accommodating. The female manager and our waiter were very nice. When they were having a problem with their computer system for our coupon, they gave us all free desserts to compensate for the coupon which was worth way more than the coupon itself! The burgers were great and the unlimited fries were even better! We all enjoyed our dinner and the kids had a great time with their treats! Overall, this is a good place to eat. It’s affordable & family friendly. If you go on Thursdays, each kid eats free per adult order! The best time to go is on a weekday! Weekends get too busy due to the location in a shopping mall & limited seating.

Fast Food with 5 star service! I have always had a soft spot for Johnny Rockets because there was a location close to my old job. But now I have a new job and going to Johnny Rockets is a rare treat. I love the old soda shop feel and the way the employees are dressed. Everyone has always been friendly and very nice at this location. They take their jobs seriously! I really enjoy the food. It’s always consistent and good. My favorites are the turkey burger and chicken wings. Surprisingly good since this is supposed to be known for their burgers. Their shakes are great too!
