Absolutely unacceptable customer service by one employee, Nicholas. I don’t think I’ve been treated so rudely in years. We stopped in to buy some new glasses and I needed to reorder another year supply of contacts.
Nicholas asked me if my address was the same and I told him it was not. We went through all of the order details and at the end when he asked me to swipe my card I let him know he never took my new address (I was having the contacts delivered). He became visibly angry and said outright with a hard glare «you told me it was the same.» Calmly I replied «no, I did not. My address has changed.» Gruffly he took down my new address, the entire time visibly pissed. He then read an email address to me that they had in the system (it was an incorrect address) and asked me if it was the same. I said «no, that’s not my email,» he glares at me condescendingly and retorts «so it has changed, what’s your new email?» I said as straightforward as possible, looking him directly in his eyes, «no. It has not changed. You guys have it wrong in your system.» He continues with the hard stare and eye rolling and all over assholish style that he exudes from every cell in his being. Nicholas’ style is a great example of the power of body language. His words, if said in different tone and with different body posturing, could have been harmless, sheepish even. Instead, he has perfected the conveyance of hatred.
I don’t think I can remember the last time I’ve had such shitty customer service. I was actually shaking after that encounter. I don’t know if he simply hates women or if he treats everyone that way, but I am just glad my husband was away looking at glasses or I’m afraid it would have been a much bigger issue. After that entirely unacceptable, incredibly disturbing exchange I pulled aside another employee and asked the questions I originally wanted to ask. He was nothing but lovely, in an apologetic way.
Nicholas, your one job in this position is customer service. Out of all your priorities that is your absolute first — and you are failing miserably.
I’ve always lived by the idea that it does not matter what you do in life, so long as you try your absolute best to excel at it. I am a social worker, so I understand face to face interaction incredibly well. With that understanding I seriously empathize, Nicholas. You remind me of a burnt out social worker. Maybe the bulk of your customers treat you condescendingly and you take it personally and have internalized it, or maybe you simply hate your life and want to make sure everyone else hates you just as much as you hate yourself.
I work with a vast array of different people in my job, and I have never gotten that hard, cold stare from anyone else, save for one: When I worked in child protection and had to meet a father in court who was being sentenced for physically abusing his two year old son… Yes, that is the one other time I was looked at so coldly. Even then, I could at least understand the cold stare, after all, I was the reason he was being sentenced.
I don’t exactly know what causes Nicholas so much anger, and I don’t care to know. Thankfully, it’s not my problem.
Obviously, it goes without saying, we shall never return again.

In NJ, our eye scripts for glasses are valid for a minimum of two years. There is also two years in IL, FYI, but it varies by Doctor.
I lost my sunglasses. I hate sun light. I need to block it all out, because darkness is the best. An arrogant little sales associate saw my script was under 2 years but over 1. She refused to replace my glasses because of an «Illinois law». There is no such fucking law. A script is valid in the Puddle from an out of state Doctor until the date of EXPIRATION on the script. This was explained by a doctor at a competitor and another tech at another lens crafters location.
I walked out before her manager could call the NJ location. People in customer facing jobs WHO DONT KNOW THEIR OWN POLICIES ARE THE WORST TYPE OF PEOPLE and should be summarily fired.
This will cost lens crafters approx $ 1k -$ 2k per year in loss of my business.
What dummies. Don’t shop here if you have an out of state script.

I came to upgrade a pair of glasses. I was treated very rude by man behind the counter. Tall heavy set guy with a beard. he said that they didn’t have appointments. I told him that I didn’t need an exam. He snapped at me and said do you have a prescription. I replied not with me. he said it again. I said no. he gave me a card and told me to get it. I’ve done this before and they always call the place and have it faxed.
Not the way to do business. This upgrade was going to cost $ 800. Don’t come here. they don’t want your business. I originally came here out of courtesy because this is where I got the glasses. Go to Occhiali. they treat you with kindness and respect.

well after many years if going to lens crafters and not being satisfied with the way my sight was cloudy with contacts. Turns out I went to another doctor who said I needed cataract surgery. oh so that’s why my contacts always felt cloudy. it’s a shame lens crafters didn’t figure that one out.

I made an appointment Friday evening online for the next day. Easy! I walked in Saturday morning and they were completely ready for me. I have Eyemed insurance, they completely verified what procedures were covered by my insurance prior to completing any work on me. The male doctor was extremely friendly and positive. I had lasik (best decision ever!!)
10 + years ago and he noticed I had a slight regression on one of my eyes, but did suggest I use eye glasses only when I’m having a difficult time seeing.
The other staff was completely helpful and patient while I looked for eye glasses. I don’t think they have a lot of options, but I did check out several locations prior to having any eye work performed, and saw prices were in the same price range for all my covered insurance locations. Definitely pricey glasses.
I wasn’t able to get my eye glasses the same day, but I did receive them a week later.

Jennifer helped me and was great! She helped me find the best frames for my face and I get compliments from people all the time! Ask for Jennifer she was extremely professional, helpful and knowledgeable.

I went to LensCrafters on Saturday, 9÷13÷14. All I needed was a new screw for my frames and new lenses. Earlier in the day I visited Spex (West loop) where I purchased the frames and the sales person told me he could’t fix them. I really didn’t want to buy new glasses. The salesperson told me it would cost $ 180 to replace the «front facing» and for new lenses so, I might as well just buy a brand new pair for a few dollars more. I left the store. I then went to Walmart in hopes of finding a bargain. I was also told that the frames could not be repaired (all I needed was a screw) and I was told that new lenses would cost $ 130 dollars plus the cost of the frames. I didn’t feel right spending that kind of money at Walmart. I finally went to Orchard in hopes of finding an optical shop when I stumbled upon LensCrafters. All I can say is that they lived up to their slogan, «glasses in about an hour». The salesperson (Nicole?) fixed the frames (replaced the screw!!) right in front of me. She said my frames were «brand new» and couldn’t believe that Spex & Walmart could’t fix them. My prescription lenses were in stock and the total cost was $ 110. There was no pressure to buy anything else. The staff was courteous and friendly and I would definitely recommend LensCrafters to my friends and family. I was in and out in less than I hour! Great service! I’ll be back!

Was a little wary after reading some of these reviews but overall had a great experience. Was able to get a same day appointment (huge plus for optimologists!) and the whole process was very smooth. The staff took the time to answer my many questions and helped me to find a type of contacts that improved my vision and were less expensive than my previous brand.

Will not be returning. Was immediately sassed upon asking about coloured RX lenses «No! they’re ONLY available in G-​15 and grey» and Stephanie was much too preoccupied for me to want to work with her or the other staff member she referred me to right after. SEE Eyewear does RX coloured polarized lenses, not just g-​15 and grey, and had a much better selection of Rayban eyewear than lenscrafters. Needless to say my money was better spent at the other end of the mall.

Sandra is GREAT! I walked in relatively close to their closing time and she was able to have my lenses made before they closed so I wouldn’t have to come back the next day. Not only did she take care of my new glasses but she was able to repair my old ones.

I went to LensCrafters in the Old Orchard Mall 3 times within one week. First, I was undecided whether to buy new frames or reuse my original name brand frames. The salesman (which he is) showed me an IPad with special pricing for lenses, including 3 options and new frames (30% «OFF»).
I needed to think about it and went to a manager several days after the first visit. I told her I wanted to use my original frames and purchase 2 new lenses for the 2 frames that I brought in. She remembered me and said she would still honor the «30% «OFF» and send me to a young salesgirl. However, the salesgirl came back with a lens price of $ 75 more than quoted on the first visit. I asked her to show me the ADVANTAGE option on her IPAD that the previous salesman showed me however, she declined to do so!
Later on in the evening, I returned for a third time and while I was waiting to see the original salesman of a week ago I asked the evening manager for a quote on the lenses including the same options that I wanted. She quoted me an even higher price $ 100 over the quote of the first visit!
End of my doing business with LensCrafters:
I went to the local optical store and had a VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE technician help me and I received a very fair price below LenCrafters «SPECIALS»!

I tried Lens Crafters for the first time. It will be my last time. I ordered a pair of Bulgari frames and was told that it would take 2 — 3 weeks because of special mounting that was required. After 3.5 weeks I called to inquire. Oops. Somebody named Kyle was supposed to have called me to let me know that the frame had been discontinued. I never received the call. I know that the store had the correct information for me because I had also ordered sunglasses which DID come in. The manager on duty when I called, Sandra, was professional and apologetic. And my sunglasses are fine. But I won’t be going back.

4 stars for their selection of glasses. Huge variety of glasses, and a lot of the same glasses that you find a boutique shops in Evanston but for a lower price.
4 stars for dealing with insurance. They were always up front about what was covered and what wasn’t. They also worked with me to figure out the best way to charge my glasses /​sunglasses /​contacts to the insurance company to maximize my benefits.
1.5 stars for quality of care. I felt like once you went back to talk to the doctor and to have the initial exam that I was talking to a used car salesman. Service seemed rushed and they always tried to add on services (they were very upfront with costs).
Just do your research on what you actually need before going and you will leave spending what you expected.

I put off getting an eye exam for a really long time. When I was finally motivated enough to go, I was happy to be able to get a same-​day appointment with Dr. Pete. I was a little late for the appointment, but I was seen right away and exam did not take very long. The optometrist was very nice and patient with my questions. After my exam, I decided to buy new glasses and sunglasses because there was an end-​of-​year sale. The technician who helped me was okay — friendly enough, but not particularly straightforward about the pricing. My glasses were ready in about an hour. When I came back, she didn’t have me try the glasses on and I didn’t think much of it and left.
When I got home, I noticed that the glasses kept sliding down my nose and the polarized sunglasses made me a little dizzy. I tried to get used to both pairs of glasses for two weeks, but to no avail. I was pretty irritated since I spent a small fortune on the exam, glasses, and sunglasses. I returned to the store yesterday and spoke with another technician, maybe Brad, who was very friendly and immediately adjusted the regular glasses so that they don’t slide as much. He adjusted the sunglasses a bit, but I’ll need to give it a few days to see if he fixed the problem. I was very happy with his quick response to my problems.
Overall, I’m disappointed that neither pair of glasses was made right the first time around, but I am glad that I was able to get some help yesterday.

Although expensive, I had to come here a week and a half ago to get glasses and an eye exam, since I never needed eye wear before. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Dr. Pete C. matched a good prescription to my eyes and another lady there was very helpful in giving her opinions on which glasses looked best on me. They promised my eyeglasses would be ready in an hour and they called to remind me to pick them up right as I entered the store, precisely an hour later.

Beware of the extra procedures performed prior to your actual eye exam. If you have insurance, be sure to always ask: «is this covered by my insurance?»
During the eye exam, the fast talking tech will just tell you to sit here and there and walk over to different rooms with different machines. I have EyeMed coverage which does NOT cover the OptoMap service. In place of dilation, they perform this extra service. Unfortunately, they do not explain insurance does not cover this $ 49 procedure.
My lenses came in over three weeks late. And I had to do the follow up myself. Apparently there was a mix up somewhere so my lenses were never ordered. The location managers (lab & store) contacted me to apologize. I came in to have the lenses installed in my existing frames. I had to send my glasses back to the lab THREE times!
1. Incomplete work — I paid for the roll & polish. That was never done. I have a high grade prescription and I always opt to pay for the additional service. The employee then verifies my receipt to make sure I did pay for it. He walks away for several minutes.
2. Lab refuses to complete the work — He returns and says that the lab cannot roll & polish my lenses. Something about the light would reflect back to my eyes, blah blah. I cut him off right away and tell him that my old lenses had the roll & polish applied. He looks at the lens and confirms it was indeed possible. Then asks me if the lenses are plastic. That was the WTF moment for me that this guy did not really know what he was talking about.
3. Lab botches the lens install. Confirmed the roll & polish was completed. However, a wire was sticking out from the top of the frame. I have semi-​rimless frames. So it’s the wire which keeps the lens in place.
While my frames are being worked on — now by the lab manager, a guy in a coat approaches me. At first, I thought he was another customer. He proceeds to tell me I need to clean my glasses better. «The wires in your glasses are full of dirt!» I then tell him I don’t know what he’s talking about and ask who he is. He says that he’s the guy who initially worked on my frames. I tell him I always clean my lenses with an eyeglass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. He then tells me not to spray directly at the lenses to clean them. I asked him if he’s saying it is now my fault for him not being able to install my lenses properly. He pretends not to hear me and continues on the «proper cleaning procedure.» I guess it was his way to explain why he screwed up the work on my lenses and frames.
Save your time and find another location or go with a competitor.

Dr Helen Sagal was great! She was professional, knowledgeable and very customer service oriented. In fact, everyone was great. Anna the technician helped me out and all and were very friendly.

I had a great experience here recently. I happened to be at the mall on a weekday afternoon, had extra time, needed new glasses, and so I stopped in. They weren’t busy and took me in for an eye exam without a wait. They even found my file from a few years ago. The doctor was pleasant and professional.
I worked with Anna to choose frames and she was patient and helpful. It took a while for me to choose but when I was ready she willingly priced out the various lens options so I could make an informed decision. I didn’t feel any pressure to choose expensive add-​ons.
I had simple progressive lenses made and they were ready within an hour. I put them on and they were great. No adjustment period even though I hadn’t been wearing glasses for quite a while. (Lost the previous pair.) I think it was because she was very careful about taking measurements before the lenses were made.
Today I happened to be at the mall and so I stopped by because my frames were a little bit crooked. They fixed them immediately, no questions asked.
I’m very happy with my experience at this store and I’d go back.

AVOID THIS LENSCRAFTERS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS.
I’m a fan of lenscrafters, I’ve never had a bad experience there. Except for this one time. At this particular location.
I don’t even know where to start with this place and the people who work there… I came here for a simple eye exam and to order contact lenses. I made it clear that I only wanted an eye exam just so I could get a prescription for lenses. I was given like ten unnecessary tests during my exam (call me stupid, I had no idea what was going on and just went along with the flow) for things like glaucoma, etc and at the end of it all, was charged something like $ 570. For what I had clearly stated. Was supposed to be. A simple. Eye exam. I was livid and felt cheated, but figured I would just take the experience as a lesson learned and paid the bill. I was in a hurry to get contacts since I was going out of town in two weeks so against my better judgment, decided to order them on the spot. I was told I could pick them up in about five days’ time and I’d get a call when they arrived.
Five days pass, no phone call. I figured they could take up to about a week so I wasn’t really concerned, but thought I’d call lenscrafters just to check. The girl on the phone was rude. She seemed offended that I was calling about it and informed me that the contacts should arrive soon, «maybe even tomorrow». I said ok. One week passes, still no phone call. I call again and get a different girl this time, who informs me that my order for lenses never went through when I placed them (What? How does that even happen???) and that they’d put my order in right away. So, who was the girl I spoke to a couple days ago who told me that nothing was wrong with my order and that my contacts would be arriving soon? This girl had no idea. She sounded as if she didn’t believe me when I told her about the first girl I spoke to. As if I would make something like this up, for fun I suppose. Oh. My Lord. I was seriously pissed at this point. Not only was my order not even placed, I was straight up lied to about it for whatever reason.
My contacts finally arrived two weeks later, but of course I was already out of town at that point and didn’t pick them up until after I got back. When I was picking them up, I very politely explained the situation I’d encountered to one of the people working there, even providing them with the date and estimated time that I’d called so that they could be aware that one of their employees had lied to me for whatever reason. I wasn’t even given an apology about the whole mess, I was just told that I must have been mistaken, i.e. I must be lying about the whole thing. Ok.
Never again will I be back here. Worst customer service experience I’ve had anywhere. I dropped in about a week ago just to look at eyeglass frames (I would never buy from here, trust. It was just to window shop) and the same people are still working here. Ugh. Avoid!

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!! They say glasses in an hour, but we have been waiting over a week and a half and one of the pairs still are not ready.
We went to pick up the second pair, and they said one hour. We came back in an hour, they said another 30 minutes.
AWFUL!!!
