Wize Eyes

Not sure about some of the other reviews here. The line that states that they wouldn’t perform an exam only and let you leave with the Rx? Try that at any other eyeglass place and see what happens! And really, $ 39 to have your eyes examined and leave with the prescription is still cheaper than just about any place that won’t let you!
My experience was great. I’m primarily a contact lens user, but do wear my bifocals at night for a couple of hours. My four year old bifocals had gotten so scratched up that I could hardly see out of them (hint: don’t buy the anti-​reflective coating on the inside). I know my Rx hasn’t changed in a very long time, and the staff was happy to copy my lenses, and install new progressive lenses in my old frames for $ 159 all in. Compared to what I’m used to, I thought that was very reasonable, and the glasses and fitting came out perfectly.
All things considered, if you think this place sucks, try Davis Vision, or even Costco for that matter. Costco refused to give me new lenses without a $ 50 exam, and were very reluctant to install lenses in my old frames, even though they were basically in perfect condition. And they’re supposedly Consumer Reports top-​rated eyewear place.

Shopping at Wiz Eye in Melville for years. Service was good so I decided to try their store in Smithtown. A disaster Waited 15 minutes in an empty store. No optometrist so I had to make appointment to come back. Had exam and two days later went to pick up glasses. No optician available to fit them. There are many other places available to get your eyes examined with competent staff available. I recommend staying away from this store

A new location of Wize Eyes opened up close to my home and I decided to go there for exam only to buy glasses online. The advertised price was 18 $ with a huge sign upfront. I went in, waited for about 10 minutes and was seen by an optometrist right away. Then the problem arose when I asked for prescription only. I said that I don’t want to buy glasses from them. What’s the point of spending 200 – 300 $ if I can order online for 50 $ like before??? I was told that now the price went up to 39 $ for the exam because I did not order the glasses. I mentioned to them that when I went to another location a year ago I paid 18 $ only. The sales woman said that the policy has changed, but she would give me a discount.
«Great» I decided. I asked her to measure my PD (distance between pupils is required to order glasses online). She said that actually there was a charge for that as well. It takes 30 seconds to measure PD and can be done at any Walmart for free. Any reputable place would do it for free, but not Wize Eyes!!! I said that I would go somewhere else for that.
I also mentioned to her that this is false advertising to charge more whether I am ordering glasses there or not. And she said this price was valid for exam with purchase of glasses. So I went on their website:

Makes sense! But nowhere was it said that I have to buy glasses in order to get 18 $ price for the exam.
Don’t go there! They will mislead you in every way they can!
