So I went in a week ago for a haircut, as I’ve been growing my hair out for over a year from being shaved. Grow out hair looks terrible, obviously, but you just have to live with it for a while. Ashley however made my shabby, unhappy hair look amazing. I was so happy that I booked myself and my mother color services, I had total confidence in Ashely and the salon.
A week later, the girl who did my hair, for some reason decided to bleach cap it, even though we talked about how much I liked my green color, AND my roots for the ‘shadow root’ effect. All I wanted, and what I was booked for, was highlights to lighten up some areas, or possibly lowlights depending on how my stylist felt my hair was, and what it could handle.
The bleach cap she insisted on doing ruined my hair, then she tried to put color in and of course it didn’t take, my hair was to damaged at that point. I was shaking, I cried later but tried to hold myself together because my mother was in the chair across from me getting her hair done. I just wanted us to have a lovely day, and hoped I could somehow fix it myself at home.
I tried to explain to the owner, who wouldn’t even speak to me, she kept using threatening language toward me, implying she was going to seek legal action against me… My hair at this point is frog butt green and utterly fried — the stylist Ashly, who was doing my mother’s service at the time, came over at one point to try and help the girl with my hair, and when my girl kept saying, ‘how do I fix this, what do we do now?’ Ashely had to tell her, ‘her hair’s just done.‘
The owner wouldn’t hear any of this, she said and this is a direct quote, ‘it doesn’t matter if people are unhappy with their service, they pay for it.’ After say this she refused to speak to me further or try to work things out, even as I tried to explain the bleach cap she was trying to charge me for wasn’t my idea, and I protested it several times, as I told the girl I was –very– happy with my hair color and just wanted some more dimension put in it.
I was told that my hair, which is so damaged it won’t take color, could be ‘taken to platinum right now’ and other ridiculousness. At home in the shower my hair is falling out, I have to pile leave-​in in it just to get it combed out, I’ve tried to color it but it simply won’t take, so my roots are ‘hot’ and my ends are frog green… This, after I paid $ 180 for my mother’s hair, and a week later paid $ 100 for my haircut, products and tip. I’m almost $ 300 into a salon I can no longer go to, because the owner wouldn’t own up to her girl making a huge mistake.
Ashley is a fantastic stylist, I really wish I could go back to her for my cuts, but that’s not an option. And now I have the owner threatening me for not wanting to pay for my damaged, frog green hair. It was a horrible, horrible experience and her threats, to someone who’d just spent that kind of money in her salon, are simply unacceptable. The money I spent over the week there aside, it’s never, ever acceptable to threaten a guest though, no matter how much or little money they’ve spent. When one of your people ruins a guest’s hair, it’s your job to do damage control, and not level threats in an attempt to extort more money.

I have been going here for years. Started with one stylist and loved her. Unfortunately she left for family reasons. I was then scheduled with Jade, I’m even happier now. Everyone is nice and attentive! Will stay with this salon forever! Great job!

Very disappointed with my service from the salon owner yesterday. I, like others have stated, I had a price discrepancy and went to the owner with the hope she would make things right; instead she ignored me and went home leaving the issue for her salon manager to speak to. The issue I had was on my wedding day I was charged $ 105.00 dollars for a cut and curl for my mother in law and charged another $ 55.00 just to curl my sister in laws hair. So $ 160.00 out the door for what I could (should) have done at home for nothing. They did not even wash or dry their hair and honestly if they cut my mothers hair, like they said they did it couldn’t have been very much due to the length of her hair to begin with. She is older in age and has a short boys cut that may have taken more effort to put a curling iron through her hair than scissors. As I stated it was my wedding day so I did not want the experience to be negative and thought well I will just talk to them when I come back in to do my hair again. Big mistake; but honestly I don’t believe it would have mattered when we had the discussion. This owner is in it for the money and does not understand what it means to take care of customers. So it appears she is not smart about business either because making me happy yesterday would have ensured her lots of money in the future just as others have stated she lost a customer that could have brought her thousands of dollars over the course of years for a lousy $ 50 today. Now that is dumb business; your business but dumb business and it will continue as long as she works for her dollar today without seeing the value in future business. It is not like there is a shortage in hairdressers, especially greedy ones!!!
It appears the last good review was about three years ago when they first opened by Girl D. 05/​24/​2012. Every recent review has the same story.

Chelsea is a wonderful stylist. I highly recommend her. I would give her 5 stars. I am giving 2 stars because of the owner. She has a lovely salon and hires great people but when I spoke to her about a pricing issue she was extremely defensive. She clearly did care about an unhappy regular client. This is unfortunate. I am now a former client as I have sought services elsewhere.

Love my stylist but unfortunately won’t be going back here. They charged a surprise $ 15 extra for color because they had to use extra color on me. my hair is barely past my shoulders in length. When I spoke to the owner and told her that I was not expecting the $ 15 extra charge she said it was on their website (which I did not visit nor should I have to). I had been here multiple times for hair cut and would have continued .but when I told the owner I would not be coming back because of the surprise charge all she said was «sorry»

Love Aveda salons. They were initially wonderful but after my second visit I won’t be going back. I wanted to go dark brown with a Carmel highlight and what I got was mousy brown with blonde. The haircut was ok, seemed like she was afraid to do much of anything to my hair when I was looking for a new look… I didn’t get that. What really did it in for me was that they charged $ 15.00 for an extra color (I only asked for 2 colors)! So if you want anything besides one color in your hair be expected to pay! It should go by volume of product not per color! Not the place for me.

Well… I WAS pleased with this salon. I had a very good experience in September. I called to schedule a return appointment and the stylist that I loved is no longer there. I describe my type of hair (VERY thick, wavy, and premature gray) and asked if there was someone who is experienced in those areas… Specifically coloring gray so it doesn’t turn out red as the color fades… The person on the phone said «well, Kristen is gone, so I don’t know what to tell you». I ask for an appointment. She put me on a waiting list and never called me back. I was hoping to get in before the end of the month (December is my birthday month and I wanted to take advantage of the 10% discount they emailed me). Alas… I just left another message… I’m not expecting a phone call. Ugh! On the hunt for a another new salon!

I love everything about this salon. The people are so welcoming, the talent is A+, and the price is half of what I used to pay at my old salon. It’s a few
Minutes away and it’s smack dab near Starbucks :)

I really wanted to like this salon because they’re so nice in there. But the stylists don’t listen very well. I went in to get a haircut after spending a year and a half growing my hair out from a very short cut. The result of my experience is that I have a very short cut again. The stylist was more interested in showing me her collection of magazine pages with pictures of celebrities than listening to what I wanted her to do. As a result she did the very thing I specifically told her NOT to do. They were very nice about having me come back to get it fixed. The next girl didn’t listen either and it took two more haircuts to get the short cut that I DIDN’T want in the first place. My hair is now a full 6 inches shorter than I wanted it to be. That isn’t going to grow back tomorrow and I have to go into a new career with a crappy hairstyle. The worst thing about it is the owner didn’t feel the need to stick around to see that I was happy. She left.

I got a cut and partial highlights from Taylor yesterday and am satisfied with the results. She graduated from Aveda beauty school less than a year ago which made me a little nervous, but she definitely knows what she’s doing, is very knowledgable, and seems to be really passionate about her job. I ended up a little blonder than I wanted to, but that happens every time I get my highlights touched up. Taylor offered to add low-​lights so that wouldn’t happen (for an additional charge) and I regret not taking her up on that. So really it was my fault that i ended up so blonde. Taylor was super friendly and easy to talk to which is important, especially when you’re spending a few hours with that person. I was calling to make an appointment for several days before I finally just walked in to do so, and suprisingly was able to have my hair done right away. It seems like the reception issue may be solved now since there was someone at the front desk returning voicemails while I was there, and I think it was her first day. Overall, I would recommend this salon. It’s a little pricey but the quality of work is good.

I bought a Living Social voucher for a cut/​color/​deep conditioning and was extremely nervous about going somewhere new. I had to wait for about 3 weeks for my appointment because they were booked, but it turned out to be completely worth it. Nora was warm and friendly and listened intently to what I wanted and didn’t want. The cut is great and the color is beautiful and exactly what I asked for. I hate nothing more than stylists who try to be artistic and do whatever they want. Thank you, Nora! She showed me a cool new way to curl my hair. I enjoyed my experience and it was a great deal! Highly recommend!

Recently purchased a living social deal for a cut/​color and deep conditioning treatment. Nora who was the stylist seemed nice enough and I showed her the box lids from the pro color that I was already using she mixed the color and said there would be no problem matching. She curled my hair which I never do and it looked okay when I left. I waited a day to wash it and on Saturday I saw the bad news. My roots were «brassy», the cut was awful and the rest of the color was uneven. I immediately called lIving social, but since it had been over two weeks since I purchased the «deal» they would not refund my money. Fast forward a week and a half it cost me 91.00 to go to another Aveda Salon to have a color correction and cut done. My long hair is no more and all I asked of them was for a refund of my original payment to living social, I sent pictures, offered to send them the receipt and no response to since. They wanted me to come up to Snohomish to look at it and fix it, but I was NOT comfortable with that. Do yourself a favor and don’t go to this salon, it was no deal for me!

I marvel at this adorable little salon in the center of Snohomish’s historic riverfront promenade. A hundred years ago, it was a mortgage banker’s of sorts, and the stylists still maneuver in and out of a massive vault door in the back corner of the tiny space to mix your color formulas. Yet I’ve been here when the place has been packed (and by «packed,» it can hold about five customers) and there’s still complete order, not chaos or crowding.
I’ve been here three times now, and I’m very impressed with Nicole’s work. She looks like she’d be too young to have much experience with her craft, but she knows what she’s doing and her suggestions are spot-​on. She’s careful and precise with color, and I never leave with smudges of color in places I don’t want them. My old salon (another Aveda salon in the South End) had been coloring my hair at level 10 for a decade, and I just assumed it was supposed to fade and leave me gray within three weeks after my appointment. Not so. Nicole immediately recommended bumping me up to a level 20, and it still looks fantastic, a month later. Nicole is focused and professional, and keeps the yakking to a minimum while she manages the details of your color and cut, which is fine by me.
This Aveda salon is $ 10 – 15 more expensive, service-​for-​service, than my old salon in Kent, but I can’t argue with the results.

I was surprised on almost every level by this place. It’s a great space that they very intelligently adapted to a salon, staffed with great people, and then rose the bar around here. The excellent service began with their receptionist who was very responsive and tried to work with me to squeeze me in when I didn’t plan well and really needed a haircut to greet my hubby back from sea.
Then, I walked in and was offered coffee, tea or fresh water, seated in a comfy chair and had a teeny wait for my mani/​pedi. I was given an excellent gel color manicure and then a great pedicure by an incredibly interesting woman and a talented conversationalist.
While waiting the few minutes between my nail care and hair care I met Bronwyn, the co-​owner of this salon. She was so down to earth and cool I didn’t know it was her salon until I asked the manicurist her name. Very cool.
Then I was treated to a genius haircut by Todd, the other co-​owner. He just seemed to get hair and was very good with my frizzy curly hair, making it behave. Above that, he was also an incredibly interesting and funny person. It was so enjoyable to get probably one of the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten.
I was really wowed and I will definitely come back and will tell everyone I know. Firefly is a great salon. It’s a little expensive. sure. but not bad for Bainbridge, and the treatment was totally worth it.

I had a LivingSocial voucher for Firefly and got a haircut and partial foil from Nora in Sept., and I was quite pleased. Especially with the color! I would definitely recommend her.

I went here for the first time about two months ago and Kimmie was great! The cut was what I wanted but better, and it has held up for a while, which usually doesn’t happen because my hair grows quickly. The salon was cute and tidy and Kimmie was very professional and quick. Thanks!

I love this salon! I’ve been going since they opened and it’s been great every time. Kimmie is never shy with doing what I want to my hair. I always go for different colors and she’s always excited to do it. And it always turns out great! Going to firefly is always fun and enjoyable. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a salon to call their own. :)

I’ve been a client at this salon twice and cannot wait to be pampered again. The first time I experienced this salon I bought a living social coupon not expecting much, but boy was I amazed! The salon was adorable, my stylist Nora was absolutely fabulous. She did exactly what I asked her too do. Usually when you say «Can I have a trim?» you walk out crying with a bob, but not here! She even gave me a scalp massage. I cannot be happier with the services I’ve received at this salon and I’m glad I found a place I can call my salon.
