So sad to see that this place closed. I would drive an hour just to enjoy their food. Great staff & the food was always fresh & delicious.

CLOSED!!! I didn’t eat breakfast today in anticipation of the great meal that I was going to throw down on at lunch at Last Legg with a friend. It is closed, man! Very sad to see this place go. Great customer service and excellent food… it will be sorely missed!

UPDATE: CLOSED! Sigh. The good die young. Original review: I was sitting in my office getting those usual 11:30 am-ish hunger pangs when my co-worker brought the carry out menu for this place over to my desk. «Chicken and waffles??? I’m IN!» I ordered a two bite(4 chicken wings and 4 mini waffles) with a side of cornbread(by this time the hunger pangs had grown) and she left to pick up the collective order for the office as I waited with bated breath and growling stomach. 45 minutes later she brought me back… pure deliciousness in a styrofoam box. The waffles, each bite sized, were nice and golden… they lost a bit of their crisp(but that was to be expected from the transit). Sweet(but not overly so) and fluffy, they tasted melt in your mouth good, especially with the warm syrup accompaniment. The cornbread was likewise delicious… more like pound cake than bread, crumbly and again, subtly sweet. The real star, however, was the chicken. 4 big full wings(take note other restaurants, a drummette does not count as one wing), cooked and seasoned to perfection. Lightly breaded, juicy and crisp, and amazingly… not greasy. Hot and fresh. They’ve gained a few new fans in our workplace, including yours truly… who can’t wait to try the different menu items.

We’ve been here 4 or 5 times now and always enjoy the food. If the rating was on the fried chicken alone, it would be five stars. The best I’ve had — not breaded to oblivion, perfectly spiced, with just the right amount of grease on the wings. The time we had the breast it was nice and juicy. Waffles are ok, but they’re chewier than I prefer and not super moist. The other sides are always good — we’ve had the mac & cheese, grits, and cornbread. Prices aren’t cheap, but for the quality of food it’s worth a trip every once in awhile. If you haven’t had chicken and waffles before, definitely check this place out.

Open on Sundays. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I ordered the small bite, which comes with 3 chicken wings and 3 tiny waffles for $ 7.50. The wings tasted average. The waffles were particularly small and didn’t pair well with the chicken. Maybe the other cuts of chicken are better, but judging from the batter, probably not.

BesT chicken and waffles in the area. The chicken is juicy with the perfect, buttery fried shell, and the waffles are light and fluffy. Plus they do actually give you a carafe of syrup! Pair your meal with a side f Mac and cheese and the seasoned, crispy fries and you’ll be set. No it’s not the healthiest meal but soul food is good for the soul, not for the aorta. Rhonda is so sweet and really puts a lot of care into the dishes. I live 2 hrs away but still make the trip.

Absolutely Divine. The chicken was cooked/fried to PERFECTION… sooo crispy and yummy, and the inside was perfectly moist and delicious. My 11month old ate almost the entire breast. The waffles were fluffy and tasty. This has become our new FAVE chicken place in the New Brunswick area.

Now I admit I’ve never had chicken and waffles before, but I can’t imagine it getting any better than this. This place is my new instant favorite. It’s run by a very nice mother daughter team, and everything is made to order. The portions are outrageous and if you spend $ 13 you don’t have to worry about getting your moneys worth, but you do have to worry about finishing it all. And don’t even get me started on the homemade Raspberry Lemonade, or Homemade Arnold Palmer(whichever they made fresh that day) they are to good for words. I bought an extra just so I could have more. This place is definitely worth it, highly recommended.

The chicken was pretty good and the waffle’s was alright. I must say that I’ve not had any better Chicken and Waffle combinations that are better in the East Coast, then again I’ve only had it in NJ so far. This place is definitely worth a try, if you’ve never had this combination before. The service was decent, but expect to be smelling like friend used oil if you intend to eat in. Comparing this to Los Angeles’s famous Roscoe’s Chick and Waffle’s Joint, I’d say it is a far cry. I was kinda craving for some of that good stuff Roscoe’s makes. 3 Stars to this joint maybe +0.5 because they got a letter from Obama’s secretaries office.

MYNEWFAVEAFTERCHURCHLUNCHSPOT! I discovered this place one day on the way home from church and I knew I had to stop by one day. That day eventually came and now I’m so glad I went. When it comes to the chicken and waffles, it’s great! However, the sides were just okay. There wasn’t anything about the greens, mac n cheese, and candied yams that really wowed me but if I want something on the side, I wouldn’t hesitate ordering them again. I just wish the place was a little bit bigger.

I LOVE this place! I really wish I could remember to come here more often to try more food, but every time I’ve gone so far I’ve only gotten the chicken and waffles. But the chicken. And the waffles. And the syrup. Everything goes perfectly together and bite after bite is just another taste of joy! Also wished this place was opened everyday at longer hours and delivered, but maybe the limitations are part of what makes this place so precious.

Oh mama, I finally got a chance to get out of work early one day because my job doesnt give Overtime anymore which sucks. But anyways, enough about my work and lets focus on this Amazing Restaurant. I finally decided to go and stop by this place. Decided to order exactly what the restaurant is known for, Chicken and Waffles. Lets just say that I already fell in love with the friggin smell the moment I walked in the place. Not a big staff from what I remember. I saw a couple of people, they seem to be family owned. First bite of the crispy chicken, the juices flowed down my chin and hit my favorite pants and shirt, but you know what it was worth it… My girl can always get rid of the stain but you can only get to experience a great fried chicken once in a blue moon. Waffles was good as well, I mean its not as good as the chicken, but add a few slab of butter and syrup and it may come close to it. I really felt like I was living down South when your inside. Im glad I live just a few miles from this place.

Love love love the chicken at this place. Might be the best fried chicken I’ve ever had ever. The waffles were also light and delicious! The sides were the low point for me. A little too much salt for my tastes. The décor us warm and inviting like your gramma’s house. I will definitely make this a stop on my regular list of places in NB.

Finally! I got to go to Last Legg yesterday with a friend, since SO is on this health kick that doesn’t include anything fried which is no fun at all. Anyway, I had heard from lovely Unilocalers and friends that this place was pretty sweet. My friend and I both got the 3 Bite– which was three(large) chicken wings and three miniature belgium waffles. We also split a side of greens. O.M.G. I had been having a craving for fried chicken for the past two months, and I was so happy that craving got filled here. The chicken was crisp on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and juicy on the inside. The waffles were little pillows of heaven– fluffy and dense, and hot out of the waffle iron. The greens– SIGH– I’ve only had greens one time before and they were pretty good, and these were amazing– cooked perfectly with a hint of tart and spiciness, and that lovely hammy note of flavor. YUMYUMYUM all around. The service was so great too– the woman at the counter was so sweet and friendly and the food came out without barely a wait, piping hot, ready for us to get all up in it. It was definitely the highlight of the day! I’ve already gushed about it to some friends who haven’t gone yet, so we are already planning to go soon.

hmmm. I found this place when it first opened and I do have to say that the quality of the food(preparation) did go down slightly. I know they had a change in cooks… FOOD Chicken and waffles are on point! I enjoyed the bbq chicken, fried whiting and shrimp. I do wish they had hush puppies though… Quality of the sides has gone down. Greens weren’t drained very well and I didn’t have much to work with in the container. Mac and Cheese was yummy. Yams were ok. Atmosphere I suggest you call in your order, the place is getting pretty popular. You can eat in but its smallish. Its set up like a bar in a «L» with high top stools. At times the staff has been a bit unprofessional in my humble opinion but the food is worth it.

Amazing fried chicken. Waffles are above average, but tasty nonetheless. Reasonable pricing. Staff/owners are friendly and helpful. I went for my first time after driving past it every single day… I’m an idiot for not going sooner. The fried chicken is truly amazing. Perfect skin, light and crispy. Every single bite is moist, juicy, and deliciously seasoned. Counters, seats, bathrooms, and everything basically is kept clean.

I hadn’t heard of chicken and waffles until I moved to SF. It was in Oakland, but good. We were Unilocaling today, and this place came up. Jim was trying to get me to go to Je’s in Newark, and I poo-pooed the idea. Let’s just say we left happy. They have a byline on their menu that says«fall in love», and Jim was happy that it wasn’t closer(otherwise he’d get heavy and simply have even more to love). We got their waffle and chicken, with dark meat as an extra. For me, The fish sandwich sans bread. Then some greens(collards for those who don’t know). And sweet tea. After ordering, they will bring your food to the seats around the windows, and will clear up afterwards too. Chicken: no breading whatsoever. Perfectly fried, and not very greasy. It was 11, and they had just opened. The fryer was perfect. Waffle: good. They had other offerings(egg nog and sweet potatoe), but we got their standard. Fat free syrup is available, but this was served with butter and real syrup. Fish: I prefer a cornmeal coating; this was batter. Very good. Perfectly cooked cat fish. No bones. I ate more than I should have. Collards: these were hands down the best we’ve ever had(apologies to MOM). Heat from red peppers, no bitterness, not sweet. We took home what we couldn’t eat, and would happily have more. They were seriously the best we’ve ever tried. Fries: hand cut and slim; they were okay. I like them more crisp, but considering the rest of the meal, we had no complaints. Tea: this is southern sweet tea. It tasted like it had real cane syrup in it, or was boiled with it. SO sweet, but so good. Enormous servings, and pleasant staff. We were so happy after eating, and my husband didn’t want a mint afterwards in order to savour the meal of the day. A great place with friendly service and an incredibly clean atmosphere(it’s not one of those dingy fry places). For the 2 of us for a late breakfast/lunch: $ 25 with tip. A great place. I’m just glad it’s not too close to home, otherwise I’d have to get larger pants for my sweetie. They have a private lot too. If you’re from the South, or have relatives from there, check this place out. The tea was amazing, and the collards — wow. I just have to remember not to mention how good they were to my in-laws.
