Here at Palissandro we produce all of our wines in a northern Italian style. From the Italian varietals we grow to the way we produce our wines, Palissandro stands out among the crowd. We select each yeast for what we want to achieve in our wine, then barrel ferment our reds in French Oak for 24 months. We feel this is important not only to add diversity to the selection of varietals up in the Sierra Foothills, but also for the sake of Jeannine’s childhood memories where all of the magic began.
History
Established in 2009.
Nestled in the Sierra Foothills within the Fair Play AVA is Palissandro Vineyard & Winery. Palissandro is a dream coming to fruition for Shaun and Jeannine Blaylock. While they had no previous winery or farming experience before embarking on this adventure, they do however, have a strong passion for wine. Having worked several years in the corporate world, they both decided they wanted a simpler life. Jeannine has many fond memories of making wine with her Grandfather, who came to the United States from Catania, Sicily when he was 17 years old, and her father when she was a young girl. These memories led to the idea of starting a winery. In 2009 Shaun and Jeannine purchased a piece of foreclosed property in Fair Play, planted some grapes, and the rest is history!
