Diane Askew has photographed over 400 wine country weddings during her fifteen year career as a wedding photographer. Trained as a photojournalist, she records the details and emotions of each wedding in an artistic, creative and unobtrusive manner.

History

Established in 2000.

Diane Askew, owner of Caswell & Askew Studio, has photographed over 400 wine country weddings. Her award-​winning work has been published in numerous publications, including Sonoma Magazine’s 2009 Summer issue. Diane has also taught photography and led workshops throughout Sonoma County. Weddings require an experienced, professional who can deal with all kinds of situations with the greatest of ease.

Diane captured our wedding day so beautifully that words cannot describe how happy I am with the finished product. She was absolutely lovely to work with. I felt very comfortable with her. She came with an additional photographer as well, which was really nice. She has an eye for artistic shots and is wonderful at capturing candids! While we were getting ready Diane stayed and took shots of the bridal party and her additional photographer took pictures of the groomsmen getting ready.
I would recommend her to anyone who needed a wedding photographer. I felt the price was very fair and the turnaround for the photos was in the time frame she quited me. She was also very quick to fix and adjust a minor mishap with a few photos. She was punctual on the day as well.
Her and Paulina made my wedding day complete by capturing those moments so wonderfully.

Diane was phenomenal. Diane was able to capture the very essence of our wedding, a small, light hearted, happy affair. We brought together families who had never met, friends from near and far, and each image captures the rare beauty of such a gathering. The moment in time it represents.
In addition to her keen eye and outstanding skill, Diane is a diplomat, polite yet firm, so that each image that we requested came to fruition, and even a few we didn’t think would be possible. I was pleased and honored to have her photograph our wedding.

Diane did an absolutely amazing job photographing our wedding. I wasn’t the easiest bride because I just wanted the wedding documented… not all the fancy bride/​groom shots. It was a second wedding, we are older and it’s just different than a first wedding when you are younger.
Well, the photos were stunning. She captured the joy and love and really delivered the essence of everyone that was there. I would highly recommend her to anyone. And I am a professional photographer and am extremely picky!

We were really pleased with Diane and her photography. We chose Diane because she offered the best rates and seemed easy to work with. We had some initial communications to sign the contract and then didn’t have too much back-​and-​forth until the wedding day. She and her second photographer (Paulina) were really easy going and dealt well with a variety of family personalities (and a number of people who always blink in photos). As Diane and Paulina were shooting the «getting ready» shots, we discovered that the zipper on my dress was broken and wouldn’t zip up the last couple inches. Paulina came to the rescue and stitched up the back of my dress so no one could tell! Our only regret was not asking Diane to get more photos of our friends at the wedding – not her fault, just something we didn’t consider ahead of time.

Diane and her lovely assistant might have been my favorite thing at my entire wedding, I’m not sure! They were really pros and they were so much fun to work with, very upbeat and happy. You can really tell they love what they do. I haven’t gotten my pictures yet but I have no doubt they will be spectacular. I will try to remember to update my review when I get the photos. ANYWAY very affordable, fun, and a delight to have hang around you on your big day. You won’t go wrong with Diane :)

Diane did an amazing job capturing the magic and joy that surrounded our wedding day. She was a great communicator leading up to the big day. We did not get to meet prior to the day because we had a destination wedding and only arrived a couple days before the wedding. She arrived at our tiny 14 person event and fit in with everyone. My husband and I were not used to having professional photography and were nervous about that part of the day. She was very assuring and comforting. I had several ideas of pictures that i wanted and Diane was able to translate them into amazing pictures. She also had so many great ideas of her own. My dress was a little unusual and I loved it. Diane understood how I felt about it and worked really hard to get fabulous pictures of me in it. After the wedding, Diane rushed my pictures because I was having a reception at home since our wedding was so small. They arrived well in advance of when I needed them. The pictures were amazing!!! She was able to capture the intimacy and joy in our small wedding. She got fantastic shots of me and my husband. The pictures were very interesting and showed the character of our wedding and the town where we were married. We could not be any happier with her personally or with her photography. I would highly recommend her.

Hiring Diane as our wedding photographer was maybe the best decision we made during the entire planning process! We were going for a very intimate, family-​focused wedding day and Diane fit seamlessly into that. She came by the venue (a family member’s backyard) a week or so before the wedding, so we got a chance to meet and walk around the property together to discuss portraits, shots of the ceremony, etc. And she saved me a major bridal meltdown by telling me (weeks in advance) that daylight savings time would be occurring days before our wedding, changing what time the sun set! So helpful and I was just happy we dealt without ahead of time so it didn’t catch me off guard. Diane had Cathy Stencil assisting her and they worked so well together, really enjoyed them both. Being that we had a small backyard wedding there was no strict structure and certainly no wedding planner. We really appreciated Diane’s flexibility, she was so accommodating to our schedule– which kept changing!
The final product was amazing (900 photos between our rehearsal dinner and ceremony/​reception!). It has been almost impossible to choose our favorites! Diane also includes a select few photos that she artistically enhances. She is so talented! Will update when we get our album. Thank you so much Diane!!!

Diane and Cathy photographed our wedding on 10÷30÷11, and we could not possibly be happier with the results.
They were so easy to work with, and very professional. They seemed to truly enjoy their work, and they seemed to truly enjoy seeing just how happy we were on that day, using our energy and happiness together to guide how they shot us and our wedding party.
Just based on how great Diane and Cathy were to work with, and the obvious care and artistic eye they were bringing to their shooting, we were very optimistic that the pictures would come out really nice, so our expectations were high.
Even so, when the pictures did come back, we were still just stunned at how beautiful they were. The moods they evoked, the special looks/​glances that they captured, and the quality of the composition made their photographs almost alive as we viewed them. It really felt as if we were experiencing our wedding all over again in the most intimate, emotional way. We also really liked the «artistic» renditions of a number of photos they took, which are just fantastic. Now, thanks to Diane and Cathy, we have vivid, gorgeous, emotional photographs of our wedding day, which we will cherish forever.

Diane Askew and her assistant, Cathy, were kind and professional from start to finish. My husband and I had a tough day for our wedding; the weather wasn’t cooperative and our wedding planner went MIA, so we were contending with a number of challenging factors. You’d never know that from looking at the gorgeous photos! The lighting is beautiful and there are, as per our request, lots of candid photos of our loved ones, as well as many photos that beautifully capture the joy of our ceremony.
Diane was pleasant and creative from start to finish. Not only are her photos top-​notch, artistic and beautiful, but Diane herself (as well as her wonderful co-​photographer) were genuinely kindhearted and sincere. They were such a supportive, warm presence on our day. Amazing quality and amazing value. You will be beyond happy with your wedding photos! My fiancée and I wanted someone who cared about us, who had excitement and a sense of fun about what we were going through, and who listened well enough to understand both the big picture (no pun intended) and the smallest details of our special day.

I can’t recommend Diane Askew enough. She did a superb job photographing our wedding. Her pre-​wedding planning and communication was excellent, as was her post-​wedding work. She responded to last minute requests and was utterly professional… prompt, attentive to detail, and easy to work with. I found her prices to be an incredible value to boot. There are photos she captured of my ceremony that still make me cry with emotion; I couldn’t believe she got all those shots. She LOVES doing photo-​journalism style, so make sure you don’t do too many of those portrait shots… utilize her skill of capturing you in the moment! And have a great wedding!
