History

Established in 1999.

Sonoma Silver Company was launched in 1999 in a kiosk in a mall in San Rafael, as a temporary location while the 1836 building in Sonoma underwent an earthquake retrofit. A year later, Sonoma Silver moved into its present location on the Historic Sonoma Plaza. The building was once occupied by the US Army Headquarters and held regular meetings upstairs with General Vallejo, Kit Carson and Bill Cody when General Vallejo still owned most of Northern California. Downstairs was the General Store and the first commercial building built west of the Mississippi.

Leona and Jim T.

Business Owner

Leona has been in the Jewelry business off and on for 30 years. She owned/​operated a small jewelry mail order business, Morgan House, from 1979 to 1982. She left the jewelry business to open a Desktop Publishing business where she designed logos, advertising literature, newspaper and magazine ads, etc. Finally, in 1999 decided to open up a retail store. Her husband, Jim, is an accomplished builder and he designed and built the store. He has since found an eye for jewelry and watch designs and has helped her find some wonderful lines for the store.
