We consider ourselves ‘lifestyle’ photographers. We’re less interested in placing your hands in the perfect posed position and more interested in just letting you be YOU! Lets create situations that make for great photography, and capture life as it happens naturally. We travel light on gear and stay quick on our feet, so we’re always ready to catch that unexpected giggle or joyful tear.

Our goal is for you to look at your wedding photos, whether its 10 years or 50 years from now, and remember what it felt like to be in that moment. So we keep our style casual and timeless. Just like life, maybe every photo isn’t a technically perfect, studio lit ‘masterpiece,’ but that beautiful moment happened for a reason and its an important part of your story.

History

Established in 2013.

We understand the importance of photography from life’s precious moments, because we have lived them ourselves! From our engagement and wedding, to the birth of our own son, we’ve been taking photos all along and love looking back on them to remember all of the good times.

So we thought it was finally time to offer our services to you! In 2013 Open Arms Photography was born and we’re having a blast!

Blake is behind the camera, with more than 15 years of photography experience. Katherine has a degree in studio art and works behind the scenes prepping, posing, editing, and assisting with photo shoots and other aspects of the business.

We are both Santa Cruz natives, and graduates of Soquel High School. We are grateful stay local and use this beautiful county as a backdrop for our photos.

Nice to meet you! I’m Blake Weber, owner and primary photographer of Open Arms Photography.

My wife Kat and I started Open Arms Photography in 2013 when she finally convinced me to follow my passion in photography and put it to good use for others!

It all started for me in high school, when I blacked-​out the corners of my dad’s tiny shed with trash bags and duct tape to make my own darkroom. Even with the convenience of digital cameras today, I will always attribute my skill and discipline to the countless hours I spent in the darkroom, one print at a time. I now have over 15 years of experience behind the lens since those early days.

Kat has a degree in studio art and works behind the scenes to keep the business running smoothly, and adds that much needed ‘female’ perspective to choosing and editing photos.

We’re natives of Santa Cruz County, and feel so lucky to have this GORGEOUS area as a backdrop for photos. But we are available for weddings wherever your heart takes you!
