I am writing this because I am in a bad mood, why? because I didn’t have any lunch. Why didn’t I have lunch you ask? because I got screwed at the drive through of Culver’s in South Elgin. I ordered a «hamburger» not a Cheese burger. Why is it that the entire fast food burger industry cannot understand the difference. When and why did the default become«with cheese». It is completely my fault for not checking the order before I left. It was wrong of me to assume someone who works at a burger joint would know the difference. I once got a hamburger, ordered«no cheese» and when I looked at the receipt the description was«cheese burger with no cheese» — really? Some people may call that a hamburger. Unfortunately I don’t have time to go back and get what I ordered, so I must go with no lunch and I have to coach a baseball game after work — i don’t get to eat until I get home at 9pm. So thank you Culver’s! In summary, A Hamburger does not have cheese on it, a cheese burger does have cheese on it, get it right! In case you need to convey this to your cooks, «hamburger = no queso»

Culver’s is a go to when I want a snack. I highly recommend the cheese curds. I love them. I wish more fast food restaurants had cheese curds. Every time I go to Culver’s we order the delicious cheese curds. Get the family size it’s a good deal.

Just realized I had yet to review the BEST Culver’s location – what have I been thinking? Maybe I feel more chatty when restaurants tork me off… with this place I’m just fully satisfied. We live a good 25 minutes away, but I regularly call Culver’s of South Elgin to order fried chicken for family events and football team dinners. The owners and staff are just super to work with, and the chicken is flavorful and moist without being overly greasy. On an occasion when my wait was long, they apologized and offered pints of custard for my trouble. Of course the chicken is just one of many fabulous items(but perhaps the least known). Burgers, fries, and custard desserts are all satisfying and consistently great. I hate the idea of paying for«fast food» burgers when I could be eating Culver’s. Battered cod is also a favorite. When I repeat at a restaurant, whether a dive, a drive-thru, or a destination, I want to know the food and experience will be as expected. This location gets five stars for consistently wonderful, friendly service, and consistently tasty food.

This is one one of my favorite fast food restaurants. I love the butter burger and the French fries are always amazing. They have a crunchy and yet, melt-in-your-mouth kind of consistency which is an amazing aspect. The frozen custard is outstanding, and I recommend the chocolate with Heath toppings. Another heavenly snack on the menu are the cheese curds. Those are just simply delish.

This is the best place for the daily flavor ice cream! I had the caramel cashew yesterday and thought I heard the ice cream angels singing! LOL Honestly, it was the best ice cream I have ever had. Kudos to whoever made it! They are an ice cream genius. :) I would give ten stars if I could.

This place(Culver’s) is in a league of it’s own when it comes to food, service, and smiles. Every One I have been into I have found the people are happy about there job. Nice to see in this day and age. They offer service with a smile 110% of the time. The food is always good and the daily specials are good values. The price may be higher than some of the other big box chains, but the quality of the food and service is well worth it.

Mark the manager is totally unprofessional, and completely rude. He made a promise for a deal for custard, and when I called to let him know our family was coming to fulfill that deal, he went back on it, and didn’t even care. They would rather make money than put a smile on a child’s face who is going through a very challenging time in their life. Please do not go to Culvers. The boss, the manager, all rude and all mean, and also their food is disgusting and greasy. Their custard has freezer burn and I am telling everyone in the neighborhood to stay away from Culvers. They are unprofessional and our family will not be going there again.

For a fast food joint this place is amazing. Double butterburger with bacon and cheese is da bomb. A small detail I am impressed at is the bacon is not this fatty rubber you’d get at McDonald’s or especially subway, it’s real fried greasy good bacon.

Everyone, My own imposed rules for any Chain Restaurant review: 1. Must visit at least three times. Two of which must be distinctly different formats; i.e. one weekday night and one weekend night. 2. Since the food should be the same everywhere, with the exception of regional items, the food category will only be judged on the quality of the expected food(i.e. temperature, consistency, and amount). 3. Ratings are based on a 10 point scale with 5 being average, which does not mean bad. What a score of 5 means is that the category meets expectations for that establishments format. Thanks. Culver’s — South Elgin Location/Layout — 4.5÷10: Culver’s is located just north of Stearns on Randall Rd. in South Elgin. The location is slightly hidden behind a Walgreens and across from a Kohl’s, making near impossible to see the«flavor of the day» while driving. It can at times also make it difficult to enter or exit the restaurant. Parking in ample, easy to access and well maintained. There is both in door and outdoor dining options along with a drive thru for those looking to eat on the go. The eating areas are usually well kept and clean. The design is reminiscent of a greasy spoon but in clean and bright blues and whites. Service — 7.5÷10: The staff is usually very friendly and accommodating when placing your order. Additionally, since the food takes a little time to prepare you are given a number and allowed to rest and the food will be brought to you table side. The«delivery» associates are also very friendly and always ask if you need anything to complete your meal. Food — 6.5÷10: Orders are prepared on demand which results in a very hot and fresh(for quick service food) dining experience. The menu is actually quite extensive and eclectic for a quick service establishment and includes items such as fried cod and pot roast dinners along with burgers, chicken sandwiches, and chicken strips. Sides also include options that are unique in this format of restaurant such as fried cheese curds but one of the lone food deficiencies come in this category with their crinkle cut fries. The fries can at times be either under cooked or over salted and in some rare cases the worst of both words. But the main separation to other restaurants is Culver’s frozen Custard. Having frozen custard instead of ice cream, especially soft serve, makes their creations thicker, richer and more indulgent. Moreover, besides the standard chocolate or vanilla there is a unique«Flavor of the Day» in order to give a nice variety and to keep you coming back. Everything on the menu is fairly tasty and done well, with the clear standout being their custard and their extensive dessert line up. Lastly, and very notably, Culver’s offers a great branded root beer which should be tried by any root beer aficionado. Overall Experience — 7⁄10: From the homey décor to the friendly staff and tasty food and dessert options Culver’s is a very viable quick service option. This location follows the format to a T and continues to deliver with each visit. With the combination friendly staff, clean eating areas, fresh and hot prepared food items, delicious deserts and several unique offerings we usually make a stop whenever we are in the neighborhood.

Love the food, my sister and i bought cheese burger meal and the meal came with a voucher that gave you a free scoop of ice cream. My sister got chocolate with snickers topping. Then i ordered vanilla with oreo topping, the lady said i have to charge you 90 cents extra. I know it was free but the point is that, they need to be consistent with their voucher. Other than that my meal was great.
