I just don’t get the hype. Chicken Katsu was undercooked, and Katsu sauce wasn’t anything special. Gravy on the Loco Moco was super bland.

Extremely cheap food and good enough if you have a cheap food craving. They have typical dishes like loco moco, stuff with spam, Portuguese sausage, etc. The only negative thing about this restaurant is that there aren’t much vegetables. The portions are huge and it is cash only.

Hawaiian Drive Inn has been a staple of SSF for years. This restaurant has been here before the L&L chain. It’s a hole in the wall dive, that reminds me of the dive restaurants when going to Hawaii, the food is cheap and consistently good! CASHONLY I have been going here for at least 20 years, and the owners, a cute older couple has been running the restaurant by themselves. I typically order mini plates of Katsu/BBQ Chicken and Spam Masubi. Portions are huge. I’m not a fan of the Portuguese Masubi, it’s a little too salty. I wouldn’t recommend it. I was heading to a party and ordered 10 spam masubi’s cut in half. Everybody loved them, and at $ 1.65 each, I loved them too! The restaurant can definitely use a face lift, it looks exactly how it did, 20 years ago. Maybe that is why the prices are so low. Nevertheless, I think it’s always important to support your mom/pop’s businesses, therefore, this is definitely one that I would recommend. They are located on the left side of the shopping center where Smart and Final is. They are a hidden gem!

Okay, found my new plate lunch place when in this area! Sorry L&L! Prices are very fair. Cute husband and wife run restaurant. Found easy parking at 11am.

I love this place! Before I found out Hawaiian Drive Inn, I used to go to L and L in the plaza across the street(Overprice!) How come I didn’t find out about this place early?! Would have some me some money. This is smaller and cozier place compares to L & L. The owner is super friendly and nice. I have been eaten here a few times and I always dig into my meal before I had a chance to take a picture. So finally, I remember to take a photo before my meal. The portion is really big, if you’re a small eater like me. Mimi size will be perfect size for you. But I usually shared with my bf and we always order a regular size plate and side of musubi, And it will satisfied both of us with full stomach. Sometime, I ordered saimin-noodle soup to go. The owner was really considerate, he boxed the noodle and soup in a separate containers. And those chicken soup base and wasn’t oily. I was super because L & L doesn’t separate the noodle and soup. Today I ordered bento box plate because I can’t made up my mind what to eat. Bento plate came with spam, fired fish, steak beef and bbq chicken all for $ 6.99. I only finished ¼ of my food. I definitely have enough for dinner tonight.

This is my favorite Hawaiian spot in the Bay Area. The owners are very friendly. I always order the short ribs with no rice just extra macaroni and cabbage. The price is good and they aren’t cheap on servings. They give you really good portions. Cash only!!!

The food is very delicious and the owner is super friendly. We literally got there 5 minutes before they closed, but the owner still took our order and cooked our food fresh. We had enough food for left overs.

When we arrived, the owner guy was standing outside. It was pretty early but we wanted to get our food to take home to eat. My sister in law raved about this place because of their big portions and low prices. I had the chicken katsu and short rib combo with just macaroni salad. CL had the BBQ combo which came with bbq chicken, bbq beef and shortribs. The flavor of the short ribs reminded me of Chinese beef jerky. It was good and so was the chicken katsu. The macaroni salad could use some salt or something. Something was missing. I added sriracha to mine. CL was happy with is food and said it was definitely worth it for the price. I like this place but it’s a little out of our way to come here.

I love this place! I wish I lived a lot closer to it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the food is amazing, but it wasn’t bad either. And for the price and portions they provide, it’s an excellent value. I ordered the chicken katsu and my boyfriend ordered the katsu and bbq combination. My order came with 2HUGE pieces of katsu and my bf’s had about 1 ½ pieces and several pieces of the BBQ. The katsu sauce was good and they were very generous with that as well. The old couple that owns the place(like everyone has already said) are very friendly and nice. I can’t wait to be back in this neighborhood again!

Love this place! Looking inside, you wouldn’t really think much of this place as it’s just your ma and pa hole in the wall. Since there aren’t many places you can get Hawaiian food, it was on my list after moving into the area. After eating here the first time, I’ve come back more than a handful of times. Favorite things to get here(and other Hawaiian places) are the steam broccoli w/chicken katsu and the loco moco. The huge pluses here are the price and the quantity you get. As a pretty big eater, this gets me stuffed every time I attempt to finish the box. Pro-tip: If you’re taking to-go, they take phone orders. Don’t get the lemon chicken. the«lemon sauce» does look quite unappetizing. Cash only.

My cousin took me here after just moving to the city, he said he’s been going here for years. Now I understand why. The place is operated by an elder Chinese couple who are the sweetest! The place is a hole in the wall and its cash only but the food is amazing! I love the food, the service, and hospitality. I feel very welcome although it’s not much. I normally get the two item order with bbq short ribs or steak. I’ve been here several times now and the food is always consistent. It taste homemade like going to your grandparents place. I would recommend this place to anyone! But I hope it doesn’t become too popular and they hire they wrong person. I like it to stay the way it is.

But but but, it’s not a drive in! False advertising! It’s literally in the middle of a row of shops. If you’re driving into this restaurant, you’re literally driving in and causing damage. This place is pretty charming though. It’s that typical hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop shop that likes to pretend it’s customers are their kids and serves you huge portions of pretty good food. The food here is pretty generically Hawaiian fare, but Hawaiian food is awesome to begin with. Portion sizes are what sets them apart. Their half orders are as fulfilling as a whole order from one of those chains. I love seeing my money go into places like this rather than the chain restaurants. Portion size is on point. Price is doable, even with the cash only aspect of it all. Parking isn’t that terrible. Wish a place like this existed closer to home!

Cash only! Yeah man, I’ve been coming here for quite awhile now. The grandpa/grandma owner combo rocks. He’s hella cool and chill. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a slant smile out of him. The food is always greasy, salty, fatty and on point as you expect it. This is my go to junk food hawaiian joint. Love it! The kicker? it’s super affordable. Parking may or may not suck sometimes since it’s just on the street but eh, it’s worth it. I usually get the BBQ plate, loco moco, fries, and spam and chicken katsu masubis. Yeah, I know, I’m a fatty. You wanna fight about it? lol

Going to give his a 4.5 stars. I was craving spam musubi and did a quick Unilocal search and luckily found this place not too far from my new home. It’s cash only so be advised. An old asian couple were in there when I went but for less than $ 20 you get a TON of food. I got 4 musubis — 2 spam 2 katsu and a teryaki chicken and short ribs dinner plate with rice and macaroni salad. there was enough food for two meals. I’ll have to go back and try more things next time! Awesome hidden gem in SSF, per uuuuusse.
