Established in 1991.

First Opened for business in 1991 by Curtis and Carol Cashen as «Topgun». Changed name to «Aimark» in 1993.

Sold to Ron and Denise Satterlee in 1996. Name changed to «Jackson Arms».

Sold to Jason R. in 2001 and has been going strong ever since.

Jason has been working for the company since 1994. He began working under the original owner when Jackson Arms was named Top Gun. Due to his experience at the shooting range, he was chosen to help train the 2nd owner. Soon after in 2001 he took over as owner of Jackson Arms.

I have shot there many times and appreciate their concern for safety! Got a bad jam and they came in and helped me clear it when I had no idea what to do. Also did a number of PPTs there and they are thorough and knowledgable of the rules needed to transfer a gun. The guys with complaints should try an outdoor range if they are unhappy with Jackson Arms! Come on, it is an indoor shootong range and not the FBI Academy!

Range is just OK and the gun selection has a lot to be desired. Staff is friendlier than the last visit I made.
If you are interested in H&K then this is the place.

Dont even try to schedule a private firearms appointment with McKee. You will be wasting your time. The first time I scheduled an appointment it took over three weeks just to schedule an appointment. Then, I had to reschedule an appointment. What a nightmare. He never gets back to you and when he does, he doesn’t schedule you for an appointment but puts you on some vague wait list?
A total waste of time.
I called fisherexecutive training in the east bay and got an appointment right away. In fact, I went to my first training session with them and when I told them about my experience with jacksonarms, the firearms instructor told me that she had heard my same story from several other of their new customers who have since left from using jacksonarms to using fisher executive training. My experience with fisher was been very good and very they are very professional.

As far as an indoor range goes they were perfectly fine and all my needs were met. They said the wait may be about 45 minutes on a Saturday but we got in within 20 minutes. The staff was professional, friendly, and did their jobs in an expeditious manner. No complaints with anything.
Not sure why all the negative reviews– I guess some people just like to complain. Check it out for yourself and let the naysayers nay… Lol

It’s among the industrial park. Really lame place to go. Unprofessional and unfriendly staff, poorly maintained facility.

I came here recently (after purchasing my firearm for about half a year and still haven’t shot it) to shoot and being my first time, I didn’t really know what to expect. Of course I came with friends who are experienced so I don’t look like a complete fool. There’s probably about 10 lanes and it cost about $ 15/​hr.
Price is reasonable, place is fairly clean and the staff are friendly. Overall a good experience and will definitely be back since it’s about a 10 min drive from where I live.
Only complaint I have is that 1 of the reels broke while my friend was rapid firing. That cost us an extra $ 25.

What a great class and guide! Miguel was the best. He was nice, instructive and funny. We got 50 bullets per person for my friend’s bday party, and even though most of us had never been before, it was fun and memorable although loud, as expected for this activity.

I have been to Jackson arms more than once and they were less than professional in an industry that demands it. I do not trust them, on many levels. There are many other gun ranges in the bay area such as Pacific Rod & Gun as well as Richmond Rod & Gun, Coyote Point Rifle Range /​Coyote Point Rifle & Pistol Club, and many others if you look.

The cost was reasonable and the rang was serviceable. I didn’t have as much trouble with the clips on the target hanger as some people did, but it was hard to judge how far out the target was — only 7yds was clearly marked, 15 was poorly marked and I suppose the end of the range is 25. Other than those numbers you’re just guessing.
I went during early afternoon on a weekday and had no wait, only two other lanes were even being used. The staff was friendly although I didn’t interact with the clerk much since I was only using the range and didn’t rent anything. I didn’t see the rangemaster at all, hopefully there was one around somewhere — I don’t know, I was looking downrange, which it seems like some of the negative reviewers here might have had trouble with.
I do agree that the ammunition is expensive and don’t expect to be impressed by the store, the selection is small. I would do your shopping elsewhere and come here to shoot.

This is my absolute favorite shooting range. I visit every weekend and have never had a bad experience. Every single one of their employees has been polite, attentive, and helpful. For beginners they have classes and a nice selection of handguns/​rifles for rent (one of the few places that does this). They have 15 lanes and each one I’ve used has been good except for one (lane 8), which sways a lot. They might not be the prettiest but they get the job done. For an indoor range, it’s also very well ventilated. Even on hot days, it’s always cool inside and never warm/​stuffy. Expect a crowd on Friday/​Saturday nights as people like to come in groups, however I’ve still yet to wait more than five minutes for a lane.

Fairly good gun range. It is underground near the airport with lost of parking. Prices are high if you rent a gun. Lots of amateurs coming through and corporate groups.
They don’t allow higher power rifles.
Staff is very efficient and helpful and can deal with jams.

I was a bit apprehensive about going here after reading some of the negative reviews, especially since it’s been a while since my last visit to a shooting range. And all the negativity in the reviews about the safety test was just unfounded. If you had a problem with the firearms test here, then you probably were too cocky, careless, and didn’t observe the standard practice of firearm safety, which is why you failed. Now you failed the safety test and can’t use the range, so you decide to give them a bad Unilocal review — not cool! I’m glad my friend talked me out of driving all the way to the gun range in San Rafael. Jackson is much closer and convenient to San Francisco.
I can tell you from experience that the people here know what they are doing and I appreciate their focus on safety. I was very pleased with my experience and I will definitely return. The young lady who helped us (Brandi?) was terrific! Very professional, and described every step in the process and made us feel comfortable and even recommended one gun over another because it was my friend’s first time shooting. The price was reasonable and we were quoted a wait time of about an hour, but ended up waiting only 40 mins, which went by quick after filling out the forms and doing a mock firing and safety drill on the target in the adjacent hallway.
If you know what you’re doing, the weapon’s test is a piece of cake. If you don’t pass, you will not be able to use the range that day. Before you go, just youtube some basic firearm safety tips and you’ll be fine.

I’m a frequent flyer here at Jackson arms and I usually have a good experience with them. They have a simple range that gets the job done. I like how they allow controlled double tap BUT they don’t enforce it when some idiot does an unsafe mag dump.
Today I was hit twice from ricochets within the first 5 minutes of my session. First one was from a .22 from 4 lanes down and it wasn’t a big deal. The second one was a .45 that got me right in the thigh. This was my first experience getting hit with ricochet rounds and it wasn’t pleasent. The round was from a group of 6+ people, 2 guys and at least 4 girls. Rapid firing like idiots as if that would get them laid. I’m not a range safety natzi but that’s just dangerous.
When I reported it to the front, one of the guys went inside to check things out but didn’t see enough to enforce anything. Kudos to the gun clerk for apologizing and giving me a discount but instances like this should be preventable.
This one bad experience isn’t going to deter me from using their range but I hope management can step their game with range safety.

I don’t get the negative reviews here. The people here are friendly, helpful and patient. The rates seem fair to me and it’s a clean, will-​lit safe place to try shooting a gun.
I’m not a regular or someone who likes to sit and talk shop or anything like that, just some average guy that wandered in and wanted to try something different. The person that helped me seemed to understand that you give each person that walks in a positive experience and they will be back. Win/​win.
These places are such a dying breed that when you find one like this where the people are nice and it seems well run, I’d support them just on principal.

Just took the novice class with Miguel and had the best time. He showed us all about gun safety, from the parts and mechanics to how to aim and stand. He was so funny and helpful throughout, and patient when we were taking turns in the actual range. He even let me shoot a 500 Smith & Wesson which nearly blew me away. Badumbish.

–cheap lane rental
–controlled rapid fire allowed (can’t find another range that allows this nearby)
–offers firearm rentals
–good size private parking lot
–discounted rates on select days/​nights (see their website)
CONS:
–expensive ammo: $ 22 for 50 rounds of FMJ 9 mm. If you rent their firearms you must buy their ammo though (fair rule)
–must use their targets only (protip: bring adhesive sticker targets)
–the hanger/​lane is a bit run down so its hit or miss if you will get a solid lane
–can be a long wait time on certain days of the hours considering its only 12 lanes total
The guys and gals were always nice to me on my multiple visits. I normally bring my own gear and go strictly for their lane rental and targets. I’ve also done a PPT here in the past and it took 20min which is quick. If you’re interested in buying, they have a small selection but seem to be the good choices of the batch. Beautiful 1911’s and your more popular polymer handguns on todays market (Glock, Sig, S&W, etc). Prices are about MSRP unless they run a deal. 4⁄5 stars from me. Will definitely keep coming here if I’m ever in the city.

I think I am becoming a little picky when it comes to gun ranges because I’ve experienced good and bad places to shoot but I wasn’t a huge fan of Jackson Arms.
First, they’re extremely busy on weekends, so often if you come here an hour after they open, you will have a wait that amounts to over an hour. They don’t call you or have any kind of waiting list so you just have to put your name down and come back and hope that they didn’t free up your lane and then you missed it.
Also the fact that they’re extremely busy on a weekend should tell you that it’s full of people who more or less don’t really know what they’re doing. Newb shooters or people just there for fun. Hence you will get a bunch of people who are basically blasting holes in targets with shotguns. Indoors. Why.
Their clips are really lousy frankly, so it’s difficult to have a nice target because they’re so hard to clip and such a crap design. The only thing just about that this place was good at is the staff are extremely friendly, great people and I really enjoyed interacting with them. I don’t recommend coming here unless it is your *only* option. There are far better ranges elsewhere if you just drive a little further.
