Courtyard Spokane Downtown At the Convention Center

My rating is based on the people at Courtyard. My room is clean and nice. Exactly what you come to expect at a courtyard. I didn’t feel like venturing out Sunday night when I got to town so I grabbed a couple of glasses of wine and a bite to eat at the hotel bar. James, the bartender /​server was beyond awesome. He really took care of me and made me feel welcome in a home away from home. I travel for a living. When I come across people like this, who genuinely take the time to talk with you as a friend, not a tip or customer, I have to give my praise. I’ll absolutely be back when business calls. I’m a snobby traveler, I prefer 5 star hotels. The people here, are beyond 5 stars. This includes the hotel manager (at least I think she was the manager) was friendly and so nice to talk to as well. Thank you.

I like the location. It’s a 10 minute walk downtown on the trail. I like it’s proximity to Division and I-​90. When I travel I have kids who like a pool. The pool was horribly over chlorinated — to the point the kids couldn’t swim. My family would never let me choose that hotel again for that reason alone. The restaurant/​bistro is useless so build in time to eat elsewhere.

My daughter and I just needed a good nights sleep before we drove home to Seattle. The staff was very nice, the beds and pillows were beyond comfy. It wasn’t noisy and there was a cute deck with chairs. They even have a Starbucks! We will defiantly stay here again.

I always stay at Marriott hotels. I can tell you I won’t stay at this one again. I go down to the bistro and am told «oh I am busy and cannot take orders for an hour» what the heck? Why only ONE person working the bistro at 6:45 dinner time??? Then they just do not care. Basically brushed off by counter person. I ask what is around and you had thought I asked for the winning lottery numbers. VERY VERY DISSATISFIED with this courtyard. Then the lady was telling me «oh you could walk ten minutes to food» uh lady it is 104 outside. She was like «oh well» and ignored me. I will be back to Spokane for business. I WONT BE BACK HERE.

Unfortunately this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We got in pretty late and ready for bed to find that our pillow cases and sheets had fresh blood on them. And there were several dead bugs on the ground. I called the front desk they said they would adjust my bill upon checkout. Well not only was sleeping very difficult thinking about bugs and blood but the army of little kids screaming and jumping upstairs woke me up at 715 am. At checkout the lady at the front desk bought me a Rockstar that I could’ve git for 2 $. This room was horrible especially considering it was $ 200. No adjustment or discount or anything but a rockstar. Horrible customer service

Good stuff first – the staff was friendly; there’s a «bistro» in the lobby with a *very* limited bar, though no room service, and no free breakfast like most hotels (there is a Perkins across the street for breakfast, though!); parking is free (and they let us leave our car in their lot after we checked out while we walked to Riverfront Park for the day); the hotel is located right along the Centennial Trail for easy walking access to downtown; and, as a previous poster mentioned, they have replaced the traditional hotel alarm clock with phone/​alarm clock/​speaker dock/​charging stations on the nightstand, which is a nice touch.
The unfortunate rest–
We were hit in the face with the stench of cigarette smoke as soon as we opened the door to our room, and it remained very noticeable throughout our stay. The carpets were still damp, so I am assuming that the previous occupant smoked in the room and they had «cleaned» it, though clearly not well (and of course, while we paid nearly full price, we booked through Priceline, which specifically points out that it does not guarantee a smoke-​free room… grrrrrrrrr). I cannot believe they would check someone into a room that still had wet carpets – it wasn’t like we checked in right at 3:00, either – it was 6:00pm or so when we got there. There was a crusty brown stain on one of the towels hanging in the bathroom – makes me wonder if the housekeepers even changed the towels out, so we bought a couple cheap towels from Target after we went out to dinner. The bathroom had not been swept, and there were water spots all over the sink faucet and the mirror was not very clean. There was a significant amount of dried milk inside the cabinet in front of the refrigerator door… again, clearly the housekeepers did not clean the fridge area at all. We also noticed that the door onto the courtyard was left unlocked (I am assuming they had it open at some point in an attempt to dry the carpet) – glad we thought to check before we left for dinner! Clearly the housekeepers cleaned this room as quickly as they could, and did not pay attention to detail whatsoever.
Our room was #144, 2^nd from the end around the corner from the pool, on the courtyard side. As a result? It was *LOUD*. I would highly recommend requesting a parking lot side room if you stay here, and perhaps one on the 2^nd or 3^rd floors. There was an incredible amount of noise coming from the courtyard. We took the kids to the pool around 7:30pm, and there were unruly kids everywhere. I counted 11 unsupervised kids, roughly 8 – 11 years old in the pool area alone, much less running around the hallways on the first floor (My husband and I, plus a young couple with an infant who were doing their best to keep away from the kids who were flipping and diving all over the pool were the ONLY adults in the room). The pool itself is smaller than any in ground backyard pool I have ever seen, and at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening, there were close to 20 people in it (you can imagine how loud that room was!) and the tiled floor in the pool area was completely soaked to the point you could not walk safely. On top of this, there were no clean towels in the pool area.
Overall, I have to say that the bad outweighs the good for this one, and we likely won’t stay there again. It does not measure up to its peers at ALL, and for the price, I’d *MUCH* rather stay at one of their nearby competitors.

Stayed here while on business. Nice, quiet room. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The on site Bistro was excellent for food… have been to other courtyards where it was not as good. Used the board room while there… Cyndi was a great contact person to facilitate it’s use.

One room feature I noticed which I found particularly interesting is that the typical ubiquitous and rarely used room phone has been replaced with an integrated alarm clock phone USB chargers and ethernet jack. What a great idea and a good use of nightstand space.
The staff is courteous and friendly and I found the entire place to be clean and inviting.

Each interaction I had leading up to and during my booking was easy and always helpful.
Stayed for a sports tournament and found it conveniently located, great service, lovely spacious courtyard (large enough for several full grown trees) where kids can throw footballs if they want, rear of hotel steps directly onto the pathway that runs along the river.
Rooms were more spacious than regular hotels (we stay in a lot), and beds were soft. Duvets were thin, which meant to keep warm you have to keep heater on all night which I really don’t like, some may. (Recently got a tip from a friend to buy a $ 5 plug in portable humidifier from Amazon to avoid that dried out effect in the morning, be great if hotels provided one if they insist on providing lightweight bedding).
Foyer is also spacious and divided into several areas with a TV, bar, sitting area and work area, all feel like their own space. One of the better foyers I’ve seen. Bar area was expensive ($ 9 for baileys on ice) and cocktail orientated.
Our team was given their own breakfast room which meant 2 things: regular guests don’t have to put up with visiting teams, and we could relax about our team disturbing others.
Small enough to not get lost and well structured so that parking near an access way near your room was never a problem. Large enough to hold several teams and feel like a expansive hotel. Again well structured so that you can get to anywhere in the hotel pretty quickly no matter where your room is.
Pool isn’t fancy, but is inside and heated, has lifting access for wheelchair bound visitors into both pool and spa. Enough room for kids to play and plenty of inside and outside deck chairs. Mid winter it gets pretty steamy for anyone watching fully clothed, and it only takes a few kids to make the acoustics unbearable. This trip it was pretty quiet and therefore very pleasant.
Room was modern, clean and thoughtful: several smartphone chargers on our room clock radio so didn’t have to worry about untangling ours. Small built in fridge. Coffee machine. No microwave, and their TV does not play movies on the USB inlet. (Take a laptop and an hdmi cord).
I would stay here again over several others I know in the area.

Bugs and infestation! I am a 100 plus a night year Marriott lifetime platinum level customer so I am ver loyal. However I had insects in my room for three straight nights! They cleaned and left bugs in my room that I had killed the first night. These are the same bugs I told the staff about in the first place. They left the dead bugs in my room. They also fumigated with no success either. We should have checked out but assumed they would make a major effort to resolve the issue. We even took photos to document the problem. They offered to move us but we were worried about moving to an room that had not fumigated. Horrible stay and you should select another property nearby. Also the food at all Courtyards is of very poor quality and taste. I am off all Courtyards nationally going forward.

This hotel is not very good. Rooms are clean, but it’s a typical old courtyard. They have redone the lobby which is nice, but it goes downhill fast from there. The gym is super bad with half the weight missing and it’s the size of a closet.

Just the room and comfort I would expect for the price. It’s very close to downtown and that’s a big plus. Came on business trip and really had a relaxing one night stay at this place. Free WiFi! Will definitely stay again!

I stay here at least once a month! During a visit in May it was customer appreciation month for my company with the Courtyard. We arrived to check in, and when we got to our rooms there was a bag with treats and bottled water! But what was better than that was the fact that the lights were on in my room and the radio! I didn’t care about the snacks it was that little touch of the light and radio that made my day!
If you travel and stay in enough hotels you know opening the door to a dark room is the worst in the world! Bumping into the door and the walls, looking for the lights is the worst! Well after that visit I made sure to thank the GM Pam for the sweet note left and most importantly for turning on the lights! Well visiting today for another work trip and guess what… the lights are on!

This hotel is nothing special. Breakfast is not included with the stay. For me that’s cool because I’m not really a breakfast fan anyways. What leads me to like this hotel is the super friendly staff. In my two stays, I’m been blow away with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The lobby is very modern and upscale too.
If you like Courtyard Marriott hotels, you’ll enjoy this location.

This Courtyard is now the Marriott I stay in Spokane, better than the Fairfield Inn next door since its quieter and more improved lobby being the differentiator. I like the Bistro concept for breakfast and dinner options to order rather than buffet including beer, wine, and small variety of cocktails too. Eating area is nice with TV’s and remotes and outlets all over for electronics. Some nice group sitting areas by the fire with reading lights. Wall Street Journal (a real newspaper) and the USA today paper available in lobby. Walk outside and take a nice walk along the river. The staff was hospitable and pro. Clean room! Hot tub is nice too.

I would have given this hotel 4 – 5 stars because it was nice, the location was good and the customer service was great.
BUT…
I called ahead of our stay and was treated so rudely on the phone by Gail. She was extremely condescending, uncapable of helping me at all and incredibly impatient. I was so appalled at her lack of customer service that it left a BAD taste in my mouth. Gail should not be in the customer service industry at all.

This hotel is very nice and in a great location right next to the river /​running path /​Gonzaga University. It’s definitely worth checking out, weather permitting.
The rooms are very modern. The furniture, decorations, lobby etc. Rooms coming equipped with a comfortable bed (is that equipment?), fridge, flat screen TV, coffee maker, etc.
While there isn’t free breakfast, there is a café downstairs that serves Starbucks, pastries, yogurts, deli food, etc. There is complimentary coffee in the lobby as well although it tasted like crud.
The fitness room is small– one broken elliptical, a bike, and two treadmills. There are some weights (a couple are missing though). The indoor pool is decent sized and there is a hot tub. I wish I brought my bathing suit.
The convention center is close by as well as a food market and several restaurants and bars.

Typical Courtyard experience. Rooms further away from the street are quieter but can lack the view of the river.
Internet speeds are SSLLOOWW so hopefully you brought your own 4G router along.

Very nice looking lobby and handy-​dandy bistro bar + «store». Room was quite small with a king and pull out couch, but clean and nice. Wife thought the bed was too hard, I thought the pillows were waaaay too soft. Thin walls made an being stationed next to a elevator/​exit made for some noisy moments. Easy access of division heading north… a bit of a maze to get back heading south. We managed it on Priceline for a good price, so it was well worth it.

Stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott for work this week and was pleasantly surprised!
I generally shy away from hotel rooms with dark carpeting. It feels, I dunno… chinzy. But not here!
My room was large and comfortable, with plenty of workspace at the desk, a separate seating area with coffee table, and a large, VERY VERY COMFORTABLE king-​sized bed. Seriously. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever stayed in (including the Four Seasons, Ritz-​Carlton, and many, many Hyatts). I think it’s been recently rennovated, or else my room was just in fantastic shape. Very sleek and modern-​looking (except the navy carpeting… I don’t know why, I just don’t like it!)
I had a late dinner in the lobby Bistro because I was too pooped to wander around town. They offered a small but serviceable menu, a good selection of beers, and private TV-​viewing booths. Perfect. They have a contract with my company, and I’m glad. I liked staying here better than over at the Davenport across the river.
