Ginger made a good attempt Asian Fusion but fell flat. The location itself is very small with the majority of the location taken up by the Sushi bar. The décor is nice and very welcoming and service is average. For the food, it all depends on what you eat. The General TSO’s is fantastic. I requested a 4 Star dish that came out with zero stars but the taste was still amazing. Mongolian Beef is the key here. Freaking unreal. I just wish they could add a little heat to their dishes as it would be the key to perfection. The Chicken Fried Rice tasted like it was fried is fish oil. It was absolutely disgusting. Not a fan. Great selection of Sake which is a winner for me. One interesting thing, for an Asian Bistro they did not have Hot Mustard? How is that possible? Overall, Three Stars for Ginger.

Had visited a year back and not dug it. Gave it another try and everything was kicked up a few notches. Good service, good fish, not complaints… Actually rather impressed.

I used to really enjoy Ginger, but our last couple of trips were not great. Details or our last trip in early January: We went right before 3pm on a weekday, and were quickly told if we wanted any kitchen items, which I guess meant items needing cooked, we should order quickly because the cook was going on a break. We were with a first-timer who barely had time to look at the menu. We all opted for the bento boxes as those were also not considered«kitchen items». The sashimi was ok; However, the dish of rice was cooked with too much water as it was mushy(not just sticky, but mushy), and the rolls must have been made of the same rice. The tempura was good. The miso soup suspiciously came from a package with dehydrated tofu and green onions. The waitress was friendly and attentive. For the quality of the food, it was over-priced. Try or sushiyama if you want quality sushi in Spokane.

My wife and I ate at Ginger’s this last Friday and have never left more disgusted from restaurant than that night. The guy behind the sushi counter blew his nose multiple times by crouching behind the counter, and then not once washed his hands. Our waiter also had a hell of an itch in his ear and kept digging in it while handling people’s food and touching plate ware throughout the evening. I really wish I would have spoken up at the time, but instead we just left. Never again will I step foot in this place.

Good sushi, but not enough variety of raw fish rolls. I think its one of the best sushi places in Spokane.

Usually go Once every 1 or 2 months, i’ve been to about 4 other sushi places in Spokane and so far this one is the best. the Sushi chefs are great and very welcoming, servers are good for the most part. Girlfriend and I usually stick with the sushi Rolls, Alaska, Fresh and Hawaii.

Went in around 3 – 4 pm. Kitchen items were not available. Were not told that up front till after waiter took order then came back and said it wasn’t available. Ordered the ginger salad and got it with a wasabi dressing on it. I liked it but my wife did not. The menu said ginger not wasabi was the point. My wife is not a sushi person but she enjoys things from the kitchen. We left with her only having miso soup.

Unlike some reviewers, we had none of the service issues they experienced. We were seated promptly, orders taken without feeling rushed and the food arrived quite quickly, I would say that the place lacks some of that immediate friendly touch that many sushi bars strive for, but efficient and professional also works in this case. I thought the quality was quite good, better and fresher sushi than my experience at a couple of other places in town. Not super top notch, but still good. The non-raw menu is extensive and pretty creative, but I didn’t try and of that end. Just went for nigiri and was very satisfied. Was also happy to be able get immediate seating on a busy Saturday when everything else in town was packed with Gonzaga Family Weekend diners. The South Hill location helps on that. Nice neighborhood, too.

Sushi is sooo good at Ginger. One of the freshest and tastiest in Spokane. I’ve had my fair share of sushi in major cities(San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Seattle, etc.) and Ginger is almost on par with the big dogs. I recently got dinner with my brother and his girlfriend here. We ordered: — Crispy calamari appetizer $ 8 — Steamed spicy dumplings $ 7 — Seaweed salad $ 4 — Spicy tuna roll $ 7 — Hawaii roll(spicy tuna, crab, Hawaiian tuna, ginger garlic sauce) $ 12 — Red Dragon roll(shrimp tempura, crab, cucumber, avo, tuna) $ 14 — Tiger’s Eye roll(salmon inside, cream cheese, avo, salmon on top) $ 10 — Bonsai roll(salmon, eel, crab, cream cheese, masago, eel sauce, creamy aioli sauce) $ 12 The crispy calamari is my brother’s favorite appetizer so we always get that. The calamari rings are covered in deep fried batter and served with a jalapeño lime ponzu sauce. The sauce is a perfect blend of sour & light spice, just enough to complement the already tasty calamari. Spicy dumplings have a good meat to dumpling wrap ratio. The chicken inside each dumpling is not scarce. Seaweed salad is seaweed salad. It has a nice crunch and isn’t overly slimy. The Hawaii roll is one of my new favorites — spicy tuna/crab/Hawaiian tuna mix with a garlicky, ponzu crack sauce lathered all over it. So fresh and refreshing. Red Dragon is a must each time I dine here. You can’t really go wrong with a shrimp tempura, avocado, tuna, cucumber, crab combo. Tiger’s Eye roll is similar to a «Philly roll» found at other sushi restaurants, but you get more salmon. There is salmon inside and outside of the roll. As for the Bonsai roll, I found it hard to pick up to eat. The roll instantly fell apart when I tried to pick it up. I thought it was just me, but my brother and his girlfriend went through the same thing, too. The baked/melted cream cheese on top totally overpowers the rest of the ingredients. I don’t think I’ll be ordering it again in the future. The service varies. Sometimes it is very attentive, sometimes not. I’ve previously been a waitress so I can understand that business gets busy. Multiple tables come in at the same time, phone orders are rung in, food needs to be brought out, water needs to be refilled over here, another table needs their check over there. Some people have no idea how tough it can be for a server. On the evening I came, it was fairly busy but I could see that the two waitresses of the night were really trying their best to accommodate everyone. All my orders came out correctly and I eventually got everything I needed. :)

The egg flower was great and so was the sushi. we got the bonsai roll, volcano roll and the crunchy spicy tuna roll which were all fantastic. Just the right amount of heat with the volcano and the crunchy spicy tuna and the bonsai was warm and soft and so savory. The only reason for a 4 star is the fact that the waitress wasn’t the nicest and there was no music playing and it was a little weird eating without some sort of background music. But everything else was superb

Today we had the Ginger Chicken lunch special. This came with Egg Flower soup and rice. This was delicious!!! We also tried the Bruce Lee roll, this one was great and spicy, defiantly will have this again! The Pearl roll was good but not something we would order again.

Worst and most expensive tea ever that we expect a real Japanese tea from a Japanese restaurant 2 $ a person for taste like boiled water and the service was so bad too.

At first it was a typically busy Saturday night, orders where behind but we where given an appetizer for the wait and the food came at different times. Window to table was executed but they did get hit hard there in the first hour we where there. Server was timely and very nice. Love this place but wish there was a localized location up north.

Ginger is the best Sushi in town in my opinion. The Alaskan roll is my all time favorite. I would love to give Ginger five stars but the staff could be a little more friendly. Slow water refills and no smiles. Sad. I really did want to give Ginger five stars.

Twice now I’ve sailed into Ginger less than an hour before they close on a weeknight and ordered up a table-full of sushi. The staff wait on me graciously and I’ve never felt rushed. The portions are deliciously large and while I am tempted to lick the plate the restaurant is very intimate and I don’t want to upset my fellow diners that are sitting elbow-to-elbow with me so I refrain. Personal favorites from the sushi menu include the Alaska and Fresh rolls because I could eat raw salmon morning, noon, and night. Don’t leave without trying the Bruce Lee as well. The chili sauce and spicy aioli on that roll have just enough kick to make my eyes water the teensiest bit and for extra points you can always dab on some more wasabi. To finish off the evening a pot of green tea and some nigiri are always perfection. I haven’t strayed from the sushi offerings because I can’t tear myself away so you’ll have to brave the rest of the menu on your own and report back in your own review. Unlike other reviewers every time I have dined here the space has been nothing but clean and well staffed. I haven’t experience slow service but I don’t go during the normal dinner hour so perhaps that is why. The bathrooms and windows and entire restaurant have always been sparkling. tables clean and linens pressed. It is always all that I could ask for in a lovely dining experience.

I like the open and airy feeling, and despite the huge picture of the odious and murderous Mao Tse Tung — Chairman Mao — who reigned over China with tyranny, and well known for blatant abuse of human rights, the joint has a cool vibe. I had the Szechuan beef which was an over cooked deteriorated mush, but the spicy ginger chicken was a masterpiece. The faux friendly service was adequate.
