Fresh & Easy

Just got an email from them saying they are closing this location. Really bummed, I shop here at least 3 times a week. It was so convenient having them so close to my house. I’m the type of shopper that just gets what I need for dinner that night, depending on what I feel like cooking. I loved that I could just pop in and grab the few things I needed for dinner and I loved the convenience of the self checkout. Really sad they are closing. I hope that building doesn’t sit vacant for long.

I needed to make a quick stop, and saw this store on my drive. I had never been to a Fresh & Easy previously, but I thought they had a pretty good selection and it wasn’t crowded so the transaction was quick and I had a good experience. It was also very clean and organized. I will definitely use Fresh & Easy again.

Prices are OUTRAGEOUS, on average 1 – 2 dollars more than other supermarkets. Came in after years just for their pumpkin cookies that my child loves. They were all out of stock, so one of the managers stopped me on the way out promising me that they’d have them the day after and asked for my name to reserve a box. I thought, wow they’re going out of their way to please customers. Went in the day after, the were still out of stock and nobody reserved anything. The manager said, I’m sorry, but he could give less of a f*** according to his attitude on the matter. Fresh n easy has been shutting down a ton of places in the past 2 years. This is the reason, overpriced and sucky customer service. I’m permanently over this place.

Clean, bright, never busy (not that they dont have customers — just a good flow and never feels manic like some stores) and sells a fair amount of organic, non gmo, and pretty decent health food brands. Prices are comparable to most stores and have good sales.
It’s the place we stop when we need a few things since it’s close to our house. Never had to wait in line (all self serve checkouts) and friendly staff.

This is a cute little place. They have basics and essentials. I usually come here to find lunch items or snacks for work.
The self checkout is handy.
Every time I come, everything is nicely displayed and clean. They have clearance sections for all sorts of items which I like to look at if I have time.
Sections are clear, and everything is easy to find. Place isn’t too big, but again, it’s a place where you can find all your basics for food. Highly enjoy coming to this location.

I have been a customer here for a long time but I have to say that lately they have not been checking the dates for expired food. I did not check the date of the 2 yogurts I bought 4 days ago and when I went to eat one the date was expired by 3 weeks.

Okay so I waited a few months after the new owners took over before coming to a conclusion — I wanted to give them time to get up-​to-​speed. This is what has happened since F&E was transferred to new ownership:
1) Very little stays in stock at the store. There are consistently dozens of red tags on the shelves indicating the absence of ordinary staples and things we buy all the time.
2) The prices have gone up. Sure the $ 5 per $ 25 discount coupons that were the weekly mainstay of F&E were a little to good to stick around… I get that. But now most other coupons have been discontinued entirely or made useless (the «made for me» coupons now are pushing new and generally unhealthy or processed products instead of providing discounts on things we regularly buy). The other in-​store discounts (such as when you bought three cheeses and got a break, etc.) are also all gone. And that’s not all… the prices have also gone up. A LOT. As result of all of these factors, our monthly F&E food bill has more than DOUBLED. That’s right, doubled… even though we are buying all of the same stuff.
3) The quality has gone down significantly. One after the other, each product we regularly purchased became unreliable or down right scary. The F&E unsweetened almond milk, which was so excellent before, now can a) taste like someone added lemon juice to it; or b) someone added strong chemicals to it, or c) spoils (i.e. turns to sludge) long before the expiration date. The raw shrimp, which used to be sweet and firm, are now mushy and salty with no hint of their previous flavor. The F&E potato chips, which used to be crunchy as well as tasty, are now more like stale cardboard. I could go on… but you get the idea.
4) Interesting, healthy and diverse foods are being replaced with snacks and candy. This is perhaps the most disturbing trend of all. It’s happening in almost every food section, but for example: Amy’s GF mac & cheese was replaced with name-​brand, non-​GF frozen pizza; a wide variety of fresh nuts were scaled back and replaced with sugary snack mixes; fresh juices were replaced with sugary and trendy «beverages.» Even the wine section has suffered under the new ownership.
Added together, and without any hint of moving in a more positive direction, these factors have been enough to change our shopping habits. F&E will no longer be our main store for food shopping. Frankly, I can’t see how the new owners will be able to keep their new direction and remain profitable. They seem to have completely abandoned the vision of the original F&E, and are inching further and further toward a ⁷⁄₁₁ model with each passing week. It’s sad, but for our own health and our own pocket book, we just can’t afford to support their increasingly bad decisions anymore. :-(

Love the new 6am hours. I can stop on the way to work in the morning to pick up breakfast and lunch when I don’t get my grocery shopping done on the weekend. I get all my fresh meats and veggies here. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Only thing thats sucks is, since the change of ownership, I no longer receive flyers with $ 5 – 10 off coupons in the mail. Also no more $ 14 off $ 75 purchase coupons. I used to save so much $$ with those coupons! However if you have the friends card you can still earn points you can convert to dollars to use towards your next purchase. Register online and get made for me coupons.
I’ve been shopping here for the last few years and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.

Ahhh the first fresh and easy I’ve been to. I remember when this first opened. I was getting my hair done and I was letting my conditioner sit. (Hey don’t judge I was hungry and my hair takes approx 3hrs) went in got a fresh pre made salad and saw the had a clearance section wooo I fell on love. Staff is very friendly

i don’t understand why people like fresh and easy. i do, however, understand why they will be closing any day now.
with a meager grocery selection, and not much difference in price, F&E is puzzling. the meat, deli meat, and pre-​made meals fall short of my liking. the produce is sold in bags or containers — i prefer to choose my own pieces of fruit, so i don’t get stuck with a bunch of inedible pieces (i bought peaches from them and had a BAD experience). they mainly sell their own brand of milk and juice, and i am not a fan of either.
the closest F&E to me is in a super ghetto area, and that alone makes me not want to shop there. i hope that the rumors are true, and that whole foods buys them out soon.

This place is terrible. Went in there on ⁴⁄₂₉ for their $ 0.49 Chicken Sale and they sold it to 2 individuals who bought the whole supply. Ever hear of putting a limit per customer? Was going to complete my shopping when the lady at the registers told me that they were extending it one extra day. She told me to be there early in the morning so that I wouldn’t miss it. I figured I would just do all of my shopping the next day. I went there on ⁴⁄₂₉ and much to my surprise, there was no chicken and no sale extension. Spoke to a manager and told me that she shouldn’t have told me that. He didn’t even compensate me for my time by offering a similar product. I called corporate (310) 341‑1200 and they didn’t even offer anything either. I won’t be shopping here anymore.

I was very disappointed walking in yesterday night as I thought I would find great deals… needless to say, I did not.
I walked in to see grouped fruits and veggies already pre-​picked and packaged together to make it «convenient» for the buyer (which could be for some); however, most of the product is small and you actually end up paying a little more compared to the produce you can pick yourself at a local Sprouts and actually get quality hand-​picked produce.
Aside from the pre-​pakaged produce ordeal, I was dissatisfied with the other products available. I ended up purchasing the PB Co. chocolate dreams peanut butter which cost me an extra $ 1 here than having purchased this at Target! — this was my fault for not remembering how much I usually purchase this for!
This $ 20 quick trip ended up costing me almost $ 50! I should’ve walked out when I first entered to see the pre-​packaged food. I will stick to Sprouts where I can spend $ 20 for an array of quality hand-​picked produce.

This store makes my recent diet obsession very easy and affordable. This location in particular is one of the cleanest and well kept. It isn’t big and I do sometimes find myself needing to hit another store for something they don’t have; however, I am very satisfied and grateful for some of the affordable options they offer.
I buy bags of lettuce (2 or 4 bucks), Huge trays of Spinach (5 – 6 bucks), Lean ground turkey (⁹³⁄₇), Diabetic Bread (1 – 4 grams of carbs per slice and 10 grams of protein!!!), ground beef for my family at 4 lbs for 5 dollars (⁸⁰⁄₂₀), and giant bags of almonds (5 bucks), and all natural Coconut Peanut Butter. just to name the essentials that I feel cannot really be beat.
The best part are the 5 dollar coupons for every 25 dollars you spend. Spend 50 bucks and you can use it twice! Not only do I get great deals in the store but the coupons make it unbeatable. My rewards points are stacking up as well which convert to money off your bill. Any time I can save money on groceries for either myself or my family, I do the moonwalk in my socks on the kitchen floor.
Boom!

I like coming here when I need something quick for dinner. The prices are great so I usually leave with more than I intended, and I love that they donate to local schools!

Went to Fresh and Easy today for a wine sale. My favorite wine The Big Kahuna on sale for only $ 1.00 a bottle WHAT? I was like I am TOTALLY THERE. Move over one buck chuck from Trader Joe’s. Now that I have two cases I might be ready to throw a get together! The really cool part is a man in the store handed us a $ 10.00 off coupon so I had to grab another ten bottles lol. I am fully stocked for the rest of the year!
BK Tempranillo displays an intense red-​purple color with blue reflections. The aroma brings forth a bouquet of red fruits, ripe berries and Mediterranean mountains. This gives way to the tannic yet harmonious palate that is full of red fruit and a meaty finish. Great with tapas, BBQ pork, grilled eggplant or chicken enchiladas.
BK Chardonnay shows off a beautiful clean and bright gold color. The aroma from the nose is a complex mixture of tropical fruits and butter notes. The palate has pleasant soft, ripe fruity flavors that are complimented by a balanced the toasty vanilla notes. Pairs well with poultry dishes, pork, seafood or recipes that have a heavy cream or butter base. Cheese pairing: Brie, Camembert, goat cheese, Gouda, Gruyère, Parmesan, Provolone
BK Crisp White shows a straw color with bright green shades. There is a beautiful aroma with hints of banana and apple. The palate is light but harmonious with tropical fruit lingering in the finish. Perfect with guacamole, garlic dishes, fresh salads, and grilled shrimp or even curry dishes.
OWNERS: PLEASE KEEP THE WINE BOXES FOR THE WINE HOARDERS!

I have to say, I really like this place. The quality and service is way more than what I expected.
I came today to see if they had some good sprouted whole wheat bread, some pita bread, and orange juice. I went for their Fresh & Easy Sprouted Wheat loaf. I have to tell you, this is the best sprouted bread, I have eaten to date. (
) The bread was very flavorful and most important for sprouted bread, it was extremely moist, which if you know much about sprouted bread, moist sprouted bread can be hard to find. I made some grilled cheese with this bread and boy, was it good. The bread was 2 loaves for $ 5.00 or $ 3.49 each.
The orange juice was great as well, but I have not tried their pita bread yet. The orange was $ 1.99 for a half gallon. The store had a great meat, produce, and spirits department. The customer service was superior and friendly. The inside of the store looks more like a upscale warehouse, but it works, and it makes sense; cut away the glamor and pass on the saving to the customers.

I frequent this store at least 2 – 3 times a week.
They have a friendly team of people that is very helpful. I buy all my bananas and apples, produce from here. For some reason, it looks more fresh than our big grocery store down the street.
Sometimes, they have samples of items that is on sale for the week which is really cool, it helps me decide.
For a household of two, it is so much easier for me to shop here for my food needs.
The reward programs is the best, they have an awesome coupon deal weekly.

I was sleeping on F&E. That has been rectified.
The Up — Tasty, freshly prepared nom nom fodder daily for reasonable prices. There’s a test kitchen inside the store that is not only used for scheduled sampling, but you can take literally any meal in the store to an employee and they will open it for you and let you test it out right then. No other grocery store lets you try before you buy! Many self-​service checkouts rule the front of the store so you’re not dealing with cashiers. You’d expect this to be a potential disaster, but it really isn’t. Things go smoothly and the lines are never out of control.
The Down — I wish F&E was «grocery store huge» so that I could do all of my shopping there instead of just 80% of it. They’ll have almost everything I want, but then not have kale or the variety of yogurt that I’m looking for.
Final note — Be aware that there is a section in the store that houses all of the refrigerated items prepared by F&E that are a day or two away from expiring. They’re marked down to half off so you can snap them up at a super cheap price. Wise shopping in this section is important. Go for the fruit medley that looks and smells great, but pass on the egg salad sandwich. Use your smarts. :)

Let’s face it. I hate shopping. Most men do. I like to get in and get out. I also like buy quality organic food. This place is great! Fresh foods at a fair price. I usually just buy for the meal I’m preparing or maybe just for a couple of days. This place rocks for that. Everything is laid out well in the store and there’s no waiting int he 6 – 8 self checkout lanes. Best place to buy fresh tuna, ribeye’s, grill packs, fresh juices, etc.
I also like the Fresh and Easy fellow shoppers. Cool crowd (or lack of).
