I JUST brought my rottweiler in here she was sick after having 4 puppies. i saw jes my vet tech she was so amazing very helpful and caring with my dog. we still havnt figured out whats going on after the xray but with het nausea meds she seems much better!!! everyone at the front desk was amazing and so nice and friendly! ! i really appreciated everyone including my doctor!!! jes is the best!!! and ive been to many vets! your in good hands here

I brought my 11 year old dog here today because she couldn’t urinate. I called at 3:45p and had a 4:30p appointment. I arrived early and was seen early. From the minute we walked in the door until the minute we walked out the service was A+++++++! Yes, expensive tests needed to be performed and expensive follow up tests will be needed, but that is NOT the provider, it is the patient!
I had been here about 2 months earlier with my other pet, a rather anxious and anxiety-​inducing Chow. Her vet of 8 years kept saying it was a chronic skin condition, but this vet actually correctly diagnosed and fixed the problem! Her «chronic» skin condition was cleared in 30 days thanks to these professionals.
In case you hadn’t guessed, I refuse to take my pets anywhere else! This place is phenomenal! I did have a long wait with my Chow so I can understand why people give less than positive reviews, however the front desk staff were personable, caring and amazing. If you can actually feel confident in the diagnosis and treatment plan for your pet when you leave — — wait. You certainly do it at your doctor’s office.

Not crazy about the surrounding area but that was cancelled out s soon as I walked in. Desk staff is fantastic and friendly and really seem to like what they’re doing… tech was very friendly and informative as well… will definitely come back

We had to put our 15 year old labrador down. Something I’ve never had to do and knew nothing about. The staff was excellent. Very patient and empathetic. They were very compassionate and I was a blubbering mess. We requested to receive our dog’s ashes and were very pleasantly surprised when we picked them up in an engraved wooded box with her name, a sympathy card and a poem, all put together in a gift bag. Much more than I had expected or anticipated. We were very satisfied

But POOR Office Administration/​Customer Service.
Short review based on 4 visits of myself and other family members to make it an easy read.
Recebtly adopted a Neopolitan Mastiff from County of San Diego. HUMANE VET was among the list of clinics who were offering a free first check up ($ 19 value) and I chose them because I had friends take their pets there in the past.
1^st visit — Girlfriend brought in our dog while I was at work. She forgot our adoption papers/​vaccination records so she paid the $ 19 — Fair enough. I confirmed when making this appointment that this visit was free, however this was not the case in person. The office workers insisted there was no such thing as a free checkup. Said we would bring the paperwork on a return visit and go from there.
2^nd visit — Came in with our dog again for a follow up. Among other services, we paid for what we were told was 2 doses of deworming — one for that visit and another in two weeks. Was told that Appointment was NOT NEEDED and could walk in. Inquired about $ 19 credit and we had with us all the appropriate paperwork for our adoption including the leaflet advertising the free first checkup. Was given the runaround and not wanting to make a big deal of it we paid our bill and left.
3^rd visit — Brought our other dog for a visit. Was assured twice that NO APPOINTMENT was needed for my other dogs’ follow deworming visit.
4^th visit — Came in and guess what? Front desk asks me if I have an appointment and of course because I did not have one the wait would be an hour. Also, the 2^nd deworming dose that was supposed to have been fully paid the prior visit, was not according to their records, so I was charged again. I kindly told the tech about our $ 19 credit from the free visit and got the run around again. The tech this visit was a nice girl and just doing her job, but I was upsold vaccinations that my dog already had, and they should have on record because I gave it to them on my prior visits.
Only giving this place one star for the pleasant veterinarians and vet techs that provided services for my pets. Upselling is part of any business, but I am concerned that they would try and sell me vaccinations that my dog already had and would not need for almost another year, and they should have known because they had the records on file.
Not coming back and telling everyone I know to stay away.

I recently switched to this vet because of their low costs but the quality of care they give to my old doggie has surpassed the fancier veterinarians I used to take her. Today, Robert the head vet tech was a total wizard with my dog, who is normally shy and scared around vets. He was amazing! I’ve also had great experiences with Dr. Nguyen. This place is great for animals, low-​cost, low-​pressure, and conveniently located next to a delicious lumpia restaurant! Yum.

I never understood what is was like to lose a pet. But firsthand, it is one of the worst feelings in the world. The staff here at Humane made me feel like family, and they made me feel as if Bubba was their own. This isn’t a specialty hospital, but the nurture and advice they give you makes you feel like it is. DR. Nguyen and Jes are some of the most patient people I have ever met. And Jes really connected with me on so many levels. Not only did she feel affected by my dogs case, but she made me feel comforted with every question and misunderstanding I had. This place will remain home for all my families pets. Go here first for everything! Affordable and spectacular service! Thank you Humane for everything you have done for Bubba and my family.

Nope! Today is 3 strikes. Dog number one – After $ 300 plus in tests-«couldn’t diagnose issue” – sent us to Emergency Vet – $ 500 for the same tests that were completed on the same day @ Humane Vet Hospital-​Cancer suspected and «exploratory surgery» recommended that would have cost $ 8,000. We knew she probably had cancer based on all of the symptoms she was experiencing and did not agree to surgery. She did have cancer. She was euthanized. She had an advanced case.
We have two other dogs – scheduled teeth cleaning. Their $ 150 «special» turned out to be $ 622. Blood test, e-​xray, recommended 4 extractions and three medication to go home with. OK, dog is ten years old. We paid. We fell for all this required dental work this time.
Scheduled another dental for dog # 3. Did it on line and never never received a call back even though they state that they will call back in 48 hours. Took me three days to get through to a live person because their auto answering was messed up. When I asked why no one called me back, I was told «they get very busy». Paid $ 265 for the cleaning as antibiotics and a pain killer are required. Received a call that the doctor wanted to take x-​rays and remove 7 teeth because her gums are starting to recede.(dog is 8 years old) Extra cost would have been another $ 265. I told them «NO». This place WILL ALWAYS find something to rack up extra fees. I am 60 years old and my gums have started to recede. My dentist has not recommended extracting my teeth. SCAM – STAY AWAY!!! There is no such things as a $ 150 dental.
Finally, I have always waited a minimum of 30 minutes. Technicians and front desk personnel appear overwhelmed at times. This place has the feel of a teaching clinic and the vets are all «behind the scenes” – technicians are their buffers. I don’t know about you, but I want a handshake greeting from my vet. Time for a change.

My handsome lil man was due for his second round of shots so I looked to Unilocal for an idea of where to take him. I was a «walk-​in» and was out within 30mins upon arrival. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, especially Alex who administered my pups vaccinations. He was very gentle! I have to admit that I myself am very uneasy with needles, but he made my pups experience so painless!!!
I’ll definitely be returning here!!! One happy pup and one very happy mom :)

I love this place and so does my puppy. They have good prices the Drs and assistants are really nice and help comfort my baby.

Love this place the staff and the veterinarians are super professionals and nice. And most important my pit is happy to see them again.

Great service from the moment you walk in and speak to staff. Dr. Nguyen is very knowledgable and caring. Also, they’re prices for blood work, vaccines, and teeth cleaning are unbeatable. I highly recommend this place for all your pet’s health needs.

Very affordable vet services. Bottom line. YET, there is NO slacking on the care for my babies. I’ve read the reviews and it looks like a hit and miss… I’m not sure why. When I visited it was with Ty, Papi & Gizmo. Both Ty & Papi had check ups and Gizmo went along for the trip.
We were immediately attended to, I filled out their new patient forms, which was all done on an iPad. My kind of place, it reflects how the Veterinarian finds it important to remain «business agile» and adapt to our ever changing technological advances. (Because let’s be honest people, paper pushing is a thing of the past)
So all in all, your visit isn’t going to feel like you’re at the Ritz Carlton, but it’s clean, staff is courteous, and very knowledgeable… They know their shiznit & they also offer rattle snake shots for the avid hikers! :)

Glad I decided to come here for my boyfriend and I’s first puppy’s first checkup. As new pup parents, I want to make a great decision for where I’m bringing my little girl. I called pretty early in the morning and was able to schedule her a basic health exam later that day which as advertised, was only $ 19.95 for first clients! The receptionist named Angie was super sweet on the phone and helped me out. When I got there, I guess the system messed up (as technology does sometimes) and it didn’t save my appointment but she was there and remembered talking to me and we were still seen. I didn’t wait too long. We were scheduled for 2:30 and then seen around 20 – 25 minutes later.
We had a male vet and he was very informative and answered all my questions. He suggested things we could do for her since she’s a pup but didn’t try to push anything on us at all. We want to do everything that he suggested for us actually but we were just pressed for time this day so we’ll schedule for it another time. We actually did decide however on getting her a DHPP vaccine that day since that’s as much as time allowed us and seemed the most «urgent», and the assistant or tech that administered it was really gentle with our puppy and got her in and out pretty quickly.
Overall, great service and real care for the pets. Will come back and definitely will be our main clinic for our pup!

This place should be called HORRIBLE VET HOSPITAL. they starved my kitten, traumatized him & attempted to give him back without his collar or carrier.
Then the rude tech proceeded to be extremely unprofessional & argumentative with us during the discharge process. The damage they caused is not worth the money they «claim to save» you.
The reality is that they just hide the additional charges until you checkout. Be smart & save your pet from a veterinary nightmare: DON’T GO TO THESE SLOPPY SAVAGES!

I heard about this clinic several years ago. Today I brought in my dog Scooter for his second appointment and of course the second we walk in Scooter is «healed» and hardly symptomatic. Though it’s only been 2 times that I’ve been here, I never leave unsatisfied. The staff are all great-​WAAAY better than PetCo and PetSmart. The prices are perfect. Robert was very helpful, caring and personable-​he grabbed the much needed tissue box the second he walked in. Dr. Nguyen was great too. Very knowledgable and informative-​glad he was there this time too.
Thank you again Robert for showing me how to trim Scooter’s nails.
Thank you Dr. Nguyen and Robert for all you did today! I hope Scooter and I get the both of you whenever we come in the future!

I really like this place. Good prices, nice people and great doctors. Dr Nuguen prescribed medicine for my dog for his itching and redness two days later he’s already better and the nurse Debbie was amazing. She cut my dog’s toenails and he hates his toenails to be worked on and she had had so most patients with him.

Checked this place out based on recommendation of my neighbor. Love, love, love the Humane Vet Hospital of San Diego. It’s incredibly clean inside, the staff is really friendly and accommodating, and the prices cannot be beat!
We’ve come here for a regular check up, vaccinations, and once to get surgery. One of our dogs needed to be put to sleep to receive stitches for a laceration after a dog fight. I was expecting it to be at least $ 1,000 for the entire process plus whatever prescriptions we needed for his recovery and it was half that.
Everyone who works here is extremely nice. I’ve never felt rushed or felt that anyone was being rude to me. Make sure to book an appointment, because they are always busy. Every time I have come, people are always in and out with various animals.
I can’t express how clean it is here. My boyfriend and I were sitting here for about an hour to an hour and a half waiting for our dog to wake up from surgery and they moped and swept the floor twice! I mean, what place do you know does that much cleaning within an hour? That’s another reason my neighbor recommended them because the facility is spotless.
I love coming here. You can’t beat the prices or the service!

I had a good experience here. I brought in my dog for yearly shots and to renew her Rx for flea and heartworm meds.
I checked in and only waited a couple minutes until I went into an exam room and the vet tech was wonderful. He said he’d been doing it for years and he gave me thorough answers to my questions. The vet was also great, very sweet with my dog (and me, I get very nervous at the vet because my dog is an anxious pup who snapped at a vet once. :()
It seems like most of the low reviews are for people complaining about how shots are administered. I let them take my dog into the back for her shots (since she is so jumpy) so I didn’t actually see it happen, so I don’t know.
Overall, everything was great! The rabies shot was only $ 5 with the Unilocal check in. A basic exam is $ 20. I would come here again.
