UPDATE. Here is your laugh of the day: The owner of Granitect made the emotional decision to rescind the discount since I left a less than favorable review here on Unilocal.But really, the discount was so insignificant compared to what I paid, that I will gladly pay it (checks in the mail). I think that goes to show how much this company lacks integrity and professionalism. I am left with a product I’m not happy with, but I will just take it as a lesson learned. I would rather ensure that consumers know how bad the salesmanship and professionalism of this company really is. Marketing 101 teaches «word of mouth» can make or break a company. I have some satisfaction knowing that my 2 neighbors who saw the truck parked in front of my house, also wanted a recommendation, to which I gladly provided the details. I hired GraniTech to come out and repair a seam between two slabs of granite in a kitchen counter. The color of the granite was full of greens and greys — so the seam epoxy needed to be matched to the color of the granite — not something that everyone can do well.
Ali — the owner of GraniTech actually came out to do the work. He cleaned out the old material from the seam, spent a good bit of time mixing the epoxy and adjusting the color of it to get just the right match. He finally got the color where he wanted it, and applied the new epoxy, cleaned up the area around it, and then added some black marks to the epoxy seam to make it better blend in with the rest of the granite.
Standing back a few feet, I could not even tell there was an epoxy seam! Great job!
He is very knowledgeable about Granite — and told me that the kind of granite we were dealing with came from Saudia Arabia.

I do not normally post to such sites, but the quality and professionalism demonstrated by GraniTech was worthy of compliment. I received a strong recommendation from our realtor after the recent purchase of our home; however, I became a bit nervous after reading some of the other postings on this site. Based on our initial meeting with Ali, GraniTech’s owner, we were thoroughly impressed. He definitely knows kitchen design and has an excellent eye with respect to color palette. We were predisposed to a particular color of granite, and he recommended something he strongly felt would work better with our appliances and cabinets — he was definitely right. Based on all the compliments we received, we are glad we followed his advice. Overall, not only was the promised time schedule was met, during the job all the workers were on-​time, friendly, and extremely competent. We also found the price to be better than other quoted offers and with some aspects of the job, we were not only quoted a cheaper price but also received an increase in quality of the product. In short, I would highly recommend GraniTech for your kitchen or bath remodel without reservation.

Horrible! Granitech installed granite in kitchen and powder room and marble in the master bath. All 3 installs were inferior. 3 failures on all 3 plumbing jobs. Came back and fixed but now plumbing is leaking again in the kitchen. Marble in the master bath had to be removed and recut, but second time it was polished on the edges as requested. They took templates but still could not get as close to wall as custom would suggest. Lots of silicone filler. Shop manager came to my house, said everything looked good. Lowest common denominator work, not even close to examples in their showroom. Now he does not extend the courtesy to return my phone calls.

POOR WORK!!! I used Granitech for our kitchen counter/​backsplash, and ordered one of their most expensive stones (green quartz) for our kitchen. Granitech has a great sales department…and our saleslady was an expert at making us feel comfortable. This should have been a warning sign right from the start because I kept hearing her say what I wanted to hear, ie ‘we have the most unique granite’, ‘our installers are the best in the business’, we make sure that you are happy with our work’ etc etc. .. .Fast forward 2 weeks. We gave in to the sales pitch and decided to use granitech. And here is where the nightmare began. The last bit of our home renovation was the kitchen countertops/​backsplash and we were expecting guests in about 2 weeks. .. so we asked granitech if they could rush the countertops because our saleslady had told us everything could be completed within a day after payment. After we paid our deposit, we were told one week, probably two before an install. We make a big stink and granitech met us halfway. .. they promised us that the install would be done within five days.
When they placed the counter we got an undermount sink from them as well. .. we thought if granite could be cut over the undermount sink granitech had sold us the sizing of the granite would not be an issue. When they did the install, the hole for the sink was smaller than the sink; it didn’t fit into the granite properly. The installer told my wife that was the best he could do. I called granitech the next day and they told me that my eyes were mistaken because they spent $ 500K on a machine that cuts perfect holes. I had other family and remodelers look at the sink. .. same conclusion. .. sink looked ‘off’. My wife and I decided not to make a big deal about it. .. mistake again!
The backsplash. The saleslady told us that ‘when we do an install on the backsplash, our team is like an artist that is a perfectionist.’ After installing the backsplash, they had installed half of it properly but the other half looked like a job that anyone off the street could do. My wife immediately told the installer that the install looked wrong and his response to her was that her eyes were deceiving her. It was weird how Granitechs response to any concern of ours were immediately met with ‘you guys don’t know what you’re talking about.’ I called back granitech the following day and asked them to fix their terrible install job. Their representative said ‘no.’ After a lot of back and forth he told me that when ‘we sell another stone like this we will see if we can fix the problem then.’ I told him that I just wanted a proper install but was willing to work with them, and if they wanted to wait, it would not be a problem but that I would withold payment on the the last portion of my bill (which was only about 8% of the total charge of $ 8500 or so) until they fixed the problem. He agreed. This was in September. So I waited. Heard nothing in October, November, but at the end of December, got a voicemail asking for payment on the balance due. I called back very excited and said that I’d happy to schedule them to fix the countertop ASAP. After 3 months of looking at a poor install we couldn’t wait for a fix. However, when I got on the phone, their first question was ‘when can you pay us?’ I asked them about the fix on the poor installation, and was told ‘we won’t fix anything. We stand behind our work and think it was a proper install.’ I asked if I could talk to someone higher up, andwas told the company president reviewed the matter. I asked if they could send the president to our home to look at the install personally, and was told the president of granitech had looked at the photographs of the install and felt that everything looked good, so, we were to pay in full. Then they threatened to send us to a collection agency. FOR 8%!!! I paid the balance. But DO NOT RECOMMEND GRANITECH AT ALL. I felt like they just wanted my money and were ambivalent about our satisfaction.

They have great contractors– I had my kitchen remodeled and they did a great job with the granite. However, their customer service stinks. I noticed a problem with my cabinets and left 2 voicemails and 2 email messages (with pictures of the problem). No one called me about it for at least a week. When I did get a call, one of the first questions I was asked was when I was going to pay the remainder of my bill. When I spoke with someone to tell them about the problem, they also told me that it wasn’t a big deal because it was a «budget kitchen» anyway. I’m not sure I would call $ 7500 «budget», but that was the response I got.
The cabinets took 3 weeks longer to come in that they should’ve taken, and I had to bug them about scheduling the work because no one was calling me about it. When I finally got through to them, they wanted to schedule the work around the 4^th of July (I guess they assumed that everyone is free during holiday weekends…). I’m happy with the way the granite looks, but I wish I had gone somewhere else for the cabinets.
