History

Established in 1983.

Potts Brothers got its start when the three brothers – Jesse, Bob and Al – rented a home to take care of their elderly parents. They soon found themselves keeping up with the maintenance… and started noticing others had a need for top-​quality services. Eventually the three began taking on projects as a team… and the word has been spreading ever since.

Potts Brothers uses high-​quality paints and low-​odor paints. Potts Brothers painting services are provided to both residential and commercial clients.

Potts Brothers’ painting staff is available early mornings, nights, and will complete jobs on Saturday for your convenience. We are licensed and insured painters in both Virginia (#30 414) and Maryland (MHIC #26 052).

These men and women are terrific! On time, on budget and willing to fix any problem that occurs during, and after, the job is done. They have painted almost every room in my 40+ year-​old home; refinished my basement; re-​stained my deck. I trust them because they have earned it. You should trust them with your next job.

Hired Potts Bros. for exterior painting. House has vinyl sides /​brick front, so this was mostly rake boards, corners and facia, doors, windows, shutters, gutters, etc. (Big house… lots of high trim). I also had them replace trim boards where there was some water damage and carpenter bee damage. Great results. I was happy with both the work and the customer-​oriented attitude with all aspects of the transaction and work.
This was the second time we used Potts Bros. They did great work the first time, and I was happy to call them when it was time to re-​paint, and I will call them next time, too.

The Potts Brother remodeled our basement in December 2015 and we love it! They listened to what we needed, gave great recommendations, and got it done pretty much spot on and on time. We really enjoy spending time together in the basement now. This is our second time using the Potts Brothers and we plan to use them again for a bathroom addition.

«We have used Potts Brothers several times both for the outside and inside of the house. They are always professional and do an excellent job. They found wood that had rotted on the front porch and were able to replace all the wood and paint it within the time frame they gave us. Their prices are very good and they made sure that we were happy with the work before they left. They also have a several crews and were able to combine them when we needed a rush job on the basement. They cleaned, patched, primed and painted the whole basement in 1 day. Very Happy Customer. Highly Recommended!!!»

The basic paint job by Potts Brothers (several rooms, stairway, hall) was OK but the clean-​up and follow-​up was atrocious. They were packed up and on their way out before they even told me they were done. They left a mess – sanding dirt all over, paint drips on my hardwood floors, etc. No one ever called to follow up on the job I called them to tell them about the poor clean-​up and that there were a good number of details that they needed to come back and touch-​up. They said they would get back to me to schedule it – after TWO months, I had to follow up again. Never really resolved to my satisfaction. Would never hire them again or recommend Potts Brothers.

I haven’t used Potts Brothers but my neighbor did so a few things about them…
1. They take power-​washing very seriously.
I work from home and I heard them power-​washing for a very… long…time…
2. They are friendly and considerate.
We had a party later that afternoon — outside of course. The Potts brothers team moved their generator over to the other side of the house to keep the noise down for us. Nice.
3. They do more than just paint.
My neighbor had a number of «injured» cedar plank boards that needed replacing, gutters to be fixed, flashing redone, etc. they even put up her new exterior lights.
We plan to do a color change in the spring and after seeing the transformation in my neighbor’s house and hearing her rave about their work we will definitely be considering them for the job.

We chose Potts Brothers after carefully reviewing Angie’s List and Checkbook top performers and interviewing another contractor. The Potts crew of six painted our entire home interior in three days, working from 9:30 a.m. to as late as 8:00 p.m. one evening. They were always on time, worked hard throughout the day (I was home all day each day to observe), and took pride in their work. We used post its to identify the few spots that needed additional attention, which they immediately and satisfactorily repainted. Alvin, Jesse, and Bob Potts worked in supervisory capacities, one checking the work of the crew each morning and responding to our questions. After the crew finished, Potts offered to send someone over the following week to touch up or clean up any areas that still needed attention. Our home looks great. The management, paint crew, and receptionist were all very pleasant and professional to work with. We will certainly use them again for future painting needs.

Even though Potts Brothers LLC was slightly more expensive than the other two companies that submitted bids, I felt that they were the most professional. They were the only company that tested for lead paint which we did not know we had. Our house was built in 1940, so there was a strong likelihood that lead paint was used. Al explained the procedure for dealing with the lead paint clearly. They were so easy to work with and responded immediately to any concerns that I had during the 3-​day project. I liked the fact that this is a family-​run business and that they have been in business for 25 years. I also liked the fact that they were the only company that did not give me an estimate on the spot. They obviously spent some time crunching the numbers based on what had to be accomplished. In the past, I have contracted companies in which communication broke down because of language limitations. This never happened with Potts Brothers. I believe that you will enjoy working with this company, because they are responsive, are competitive and reasonable in their prices and produce a quality outcome.

I recently hired Potts Brothers to do an interior paint job on my new condo. They did a great job. They showed up on time and completed all of the work in less than a day. Additionally they did a great job cleaning up. I would highly recommend them.
