Wonderful full-​service salon. Super helpful staff who is genuinely interested in providing you with a good hair cut or spa service. Mandi in particularly is an amazing stylist! Highly recommended.

I went here twice — first for an eyebrow wax and manicure, both of which I was very pleased with. I’d been looking for a new salon, so I next scheduled a hair appointment and eyebrow wax on the same day. Instead of doing the two appointments separately, my hairstylist said she’d do my brows while I sat in the sink with conditioner on my hair. I think it was probably in part because of the bad lighting and not being in a dedicated room with the equipment, but the brow wax was terrible — no visible shaping and I got home and had to tweeze large, visible hairs from under and between my eyebrows! I called the salon to ask if I could get a credit to my account, since I was unhappy with the service — the woman who answered the phone said she’d have to speak with management, which I can understand, but nobody ever got back to me. I wasn’t that upset by the bad brow wax, but not making things right indicates that if they don’t want my business, they won’t get it!

This is probably one of the best salon/​spas in State College. You can get a massage, facial, hair cut or get a manicure here.
Christine is great for any waxing needs and/​or massage/​facial. I’ve gotten several services done by her over the last year. She’s super professional and charming. Average massage/​facial is around $ 80ish.
I got my hair colored/​cut by Megan. She’s really cute and doesn’t talk my ear off during my treatments. I was never disappointed with my hair cut or color. Some of my girlfriends go to ”Mandy” for hair services too.
The salon is really clean and I would say makes you feel like you’re paying for high quality services.
They even offer wine or soda during any treatment.
The nail services here are a bit pricey in my opinion, but they don’t rush through like other nail salons in town.

This is a top-​tier salon with wonderful stylists and colorists. Billie and Sarah (the two I have gone to) are fantastic. Yes, it is pricey (a bit more than other salons in the area, but still reasonable), but it is WORTH IT! You are paying for quality when you get a haircut at J Stephens, and it shows. I get many compliments about my haircuts and color.
