Ocean Sushi

My husband and I are usually in Staten Island to hang out with friends and family. Anyway, we were in the area and in the mood for sushi. Looked up sushi restaurants in Staten Island on Unilocal and all reviews lead us to Ocean Sushi. The sushi was unbelievable!!! It was so fresh and tasty!!! We had the white fish appetizer. The sauce complimented this dish very nicely. I loved the angry dragon roll as my husband devoured his spicy fatty tuna roll. And I cannot say enough of the lychee martinis, delicious!!! I cannot wait to go back to Ocean for more sushi. The only very minor drawback is the plastic chopsticks. They make it hard to pick up the sushi since the pieces had a tendency to slide off. Wood chopsticks will help avoid this from happening.

My wife and I decided to try Ocean based on the great reviews it received here on Unilocal and we’re glad we did! The place isn’t big but there’s a few TV’s behind the bar if you want to watch a big game. The food is standard Japanese but it’s a notch better than most we’ve tried. My wife loved her Chilean sea bass and I enjoyed my yaki udon dish. We had a specialty roll and it was very fresh and good. The crabmeat purse appetizer was unreal! Can’t say enough about how attentive and friendly the staff was. We’ll be back!

Good place. Specially for Staten Island. I recommend pecking duck, romantic roll and cosmopolitan. Everybody very nice. Service +++

Sweet potato rolls, avocado peanut, and seaweed salad are my favorite. This place get veggie sushis right. The atmosphere is also comfy and picturesque. Staff is kind. One of the better sushi places in Staten Island.

The best sushi place on the island! We almost lost the faith in finding nice fresh sushi here. We were so wrong. Take out of there 3 times a week, as well as for the parties etc. totally impressed as everybody else whoever tried it in our house. Owner Michelle is the nicest lady who goes above and beyond to help and make the experience the best fr her customers.

(As of now) my favorite sushi place on the Island. I came here for lunch with my dad (I convinced him to try something other than his staple, Kiku on Richmond). We were there pretty late for lunch– 2:30– at least for me, but we were not dining alone.
The place itself is small but really clean and pleasant. I loved the atmosphere, and definitely want to check out what it’s like at dinner. The service is so helpful and really concerned with how they’re doing. They asked us multiple times how we heard of them. I wanted to try out this place solely on Unilocal reviews but a family friend also spoke its praises.
We both ordered lunch specials, which are the run of the mill for sushi/​Japanese places. I had three rolls: spicy tuna, yellowtail scallion, and sweet potato. They were a lot bigger than what other places on SI have given me in the past, it was awesome. My dad ordered chicken teriyaki with fried rice and said the rice was the best he’s ever had. We have a convert!
The server had me fill out a survey at the end, which I gladly did. Apparently they have birthday specials? Excited to see what that’s about. I’m also itching to go here for dinner and try some drinks and special rolls.
They also have free delivery– what could be better?

Freshest sushi on the island. My favorite and recommendation is for the sweetheart roll!!!

Fresh sushi for a very reasonable price. My fiancé and I ordered the Brooklyn Bridge for 2 and it was beautifully presented and offered a nice assortment of sushi, sashimi and 2 rolls. We were running late to an event afterwards and the server was quick to accomodate our rushed requests. The owner came out to ask how the food was and was very welcoming. The place was packed on a Saturday evening but we had no trouble getting reservations an hour before arriving. My fiancé also raves about their fried oreos and I enjoyed their lychee martini which was flavorful but not overly sweet.

Great food, great sushi and delicious hot entrees.
Coming here felt like we were cheating on our all time favorite — Sapporo sushi in Bulls Head, but Sapporo is definitely less expensive and just as good. Some hot entrees on the menu were a bit over salted. They have a good variety of appetizers — we really enjoy trying different dishes. We would definitely come back.

The BEST on Staten Island! Food is ALWAYS prepared fresh to order & delicious! Never ever had an issue with foul tasting kani or raw fish in the sushi. The veggies are always fresh and crisp in the hand rolls. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They really care about their customers satisfaction!

Always happy to find a sushi place that satisfies the sushi snob in me, and the teriyaki seeking children in my life. We generally order delivery and its super easy to order through the online Whereyoueat website

So ive been wanting to try this sushi restaurant for a WHILE and im so glad i finnaly did !!! Im kicking myself for not trying it alot sooner !
First off they have a private parking lot which is always a good thing, then as soon as you walk in you’re blown away from there beautiful ambiance inside which is lit perfectly (not too dark but not too bright) when you walk passed the front desk/​register you’re invited to sit at their beautiful little bar which has a gorgeous glass wall with water running down it, the bar is fully stocked with top and mid shelf choices.
To the right theres about 15 or so tables and they’re perfectly placed so you dont feel like you’re sitting on top of eachother .
I did takeout and was offered a drink while i wait so of course i had a Sapporo (Japanese beer) at tge bar and while sipping and waiting all the waitresses and bartenders were asking me how i was and stating that my order will be right out. Very friendly and professional staff !
Ok so i ordered 13 different rolls and Tom Yum Soup (spicy soup with shrimp, tomatoes, cilantro and some other veggies). I forgot which ones i ordered but they included sea world roll, yellow tail jalapeño, spicy kani, Rainbow roll and about 9 more which i forgot lol BUT everything was absolutely delicious!
If you get a chance and love sushi, you HAVE TO try Ocean sushi because you will not be disappointed and actually will love it !!

Love this place, been here 4x in the last 2 months and ordered take out from them also. Will be going back over and over again

I been here a few times and this by far one of the best sushi and japanese restaurant on Staten Island. The place is small but it allows them to be impeccable with their service.
I enjoy a variety of their dishes but the one that stands out the most is the Peking Duck Roll which is a good combination of the original chinese dish wrapped up in a crêpe like skin and drizzled with hoisin sauce. I order it everytime I come here and its a great appetizer to start out a lunch or dinner.
I had several of their sushi ranging from sashimis to rolls and they are all prepared well and taste rather fresh. I had slowly shifted over to ordering their hibachi/​bento box entrees. Recently I has their tuna steak which is well seasoned and cooked medium rare just the way I liked it.
Price is decent compared to the quality and quantity given. All dishes are presented nicely with a certain ambiance in mind.

Not only do I dine at the restaurant at least once a week, I also order in a lot at work. The delivery man in the afternoon is very nice and all the waiters and waitresses are very friendly.
I have food allergies and they are very helpful when I need to request my food to be prepared a certain way.
Michelle is the owner and she too is a great help and super nice! I absolutely love this place and highly recommend that you go here.
You might lost service on your phone at this location, but to be honest I love that that happens. It allows the people I am dining with to be in the moment rather than on their phone.

I always saw signs for this new sushi place Ocean Sushi.
Looked for a place in the Annadale hour to meet with an old coworker last night. I was excited when I saw they were affiliated with Hokkaido because I knew the quality of their sushi.
The ambience is beautiful, clean and exotic looking. The wait staff was friendly and our server Kevin took the time out to talk to us, asked us if we liked everything and persuaded us on another round. (On top of the BoGo raspberry cosmopolitans I already had!)
Food was excellent I tried the miso eggplant and also got my favorite roll from my Hokkaido days — the Hot Lover Roll with the chef’s special sauce: layers of wasabi mayo, spicy mayo and eel sauce = divinity
Everyone must try this place!

Down to the point: Fresh and delicious.
While you cannot go wrong with anything with anything you order, you must try the Volanco Special appitizer. The freshness, taste and presindation was outstanding. I also ordered the Sashimi Deluxe and again the freshness and presintation was top notch. The staff is so friendly and attentive (my tea cup was always full and hot) and Michelle true cares about the happiness of her customers. Oh and normally I was never a fan of fried oreos BUT these were heavenly, deep fried in tempura and served with icecream, perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Really nice workers and management is great. They come over and make sure your satisfied with your meal and check on how things are going.
They have lunch specials and offer deals on special rolls.
Really clean and nice décor and decorating.
Parking is limited but there is a lot of street parking.
Open full bar also.
Right next to the Annadale train station also!
