I ate here in December and the food was great. The staff was very polite and attentive. The jerk chicken was great. The carrot cake is a must try!

Finally Staten Island has a West Indian spot! I couldn’t take Golden Crust anymore! Place is located in the busy section of Port Richmond. No parking but you can find a spot easily on a side street. Outside looking in, it looks small but inside its big, with lots of seating and cozy with a full bar. The service is friendly, suggestive and happy to see repeat customers. The food is AMAZING! Real West Indian cuisine!!! We got the oxtail, curry goat & jerk chicken with sides of rice & peas, cabbage mixed with veggies and plantains. Yummy! I lapped it up and so did my friends. Can’t wait to go pig out again!

Figured I would try rustys it was 4:54pm, called for delivery since they advertise delivery, they stated they are not delivering today because they are very busy? I’ll make my own food thank you very much! Won’t be calling there again.

Very good restaurant. Their staff is very caring and treat you as you were gold! The food is always fresh and delicious! I love coming here. I went for a second time today and I will be back. Both times my waitress was very caring and she remembered my friend and I! Such a great place.

This is my second time at the restaurant. The first time was in August for lunch. The Bartender didn’t come in and the ingredients for the rasta pasta was not available. We had what the waitress recommended Oxtails, rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. We also had Sorrel. NOTBAD for a Carribean Restaurant on SI The second time I visited Rusty’s with 3 of my girlfriend’s. We arrived after 10pm on a Saturday, September 19, 2015. The DJ was playing GREAT music amd the bar areas was busy. I ordered the Curry Goat, with the same trimmings noted abpve, I recommended the Oxtails to one friend and The other tried the Jerk chicken. BADEXPERIENCE. … THE Curry Goat jad more bones than meat and was extremely salty. The cool try to put in potatoes to help, but it did not. The oxtails was adequate and the Jerk chicken was Ok. The Worse thing was the Cabbage… it was burnt. We I informed a gentleman that seated us; he went into the kitchen returned and walked outside in front of the restaurant to talk on his cell phone. We waited in disgust for a while and then I made eye contact with the waitress. I informed her of the issue. She laughed and said you already spoke to RUSTY. I replied that was RUSTY and he didn’t xome back to the table to remedy this problem. The waitress wad aware how dissatisfied we were. She offered to give us some fresh cooked cabbage to take home. We left immediately thereafter. I made it a point to speak with RUSTY to inform him that his customer service was horrible and he made no effort to remedy the problem. He didn’t have the decency to return to the table. He apologized and claimed that when I return he will take care of my meal. I have returned yet. HMMMMM

My wife and I decided to check Rusty’s out before we ended our vacation and head back to the west coast… We are so happy that we did… The oxtail dinner was the best we’ve had in a long time and the carrot juice was excellent!!! The young lady that seated/served us was very nice and the restaurant is a cozy intimate place to sit back and enjoy a meal with your special someone… The vibe reminded us of vacations we had in the islands… So. If you are ever in Staten Island or anywhere in the NYC area this place is a stop you have to make… Thank you Rusty’s for such a warm experience!!!

Great food and great atmosphere! The bar area is nice and so is the dining area. The service is also good — and the food is DELICIOUS! I have dined in and also gotten take out from Rusty’s. Their menu is great and they give nice sized portions with takeout(might even be more than dining in). I highly recommend curry goat and brown stew chicken. I hope they add some Roti to the menu soon! I am so happy that we have a new West Indian restaurant on the island. I hope they stay around for a long time.

Nice to have a restaurant in Staten Island that has great West Indian food. They have a compact menu with all the West Indian staples and the flavors are on point. Rusty’s is the Footprints of Staten Island you gotta have the Rasta Pasta!!! The owner came to our table and greeted us like family. The bar is stocked and the wait staff is friendly and smiling at all times. Can’t wait to come back. Would give it 5 stars but it’s just my first visit. Stay tuned.

Modern restaurant with bar space and dining. Jerk chicken is great! Just the right amount of spice! Super friendly staff. Best deals here are the lunch specials. Dinner is pricey due to lack of West Indian competition on SI. Only tried a few things on the menu. Jerk chicken was the best so far. Oxtail wasn’t that great. Will update once I’ve tried jerk pork & other specials.

Definitely a fan of Rusty’s! HB and I was in the area and decided to visit. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and we were in need for a nice cool drink and dinner. The staff is very pleasant. The décor is nicely done, although there are some finishing touches that will be implemented shortly, as per Owner. They have amicable seating and also a spacious backyard for outdoor eating(I hope). For apps, we had the codfish cakes. They were GREAT! Flavorful and hot(temperature). Entrée — I ordered the steamed fish w/okra, corn, veg, water crackers, w/a side of plaintain. HB ordered the Brown stewed fish w/Bammy. DELICIOUSMEAL… well seasoned, hot(temperature! you’ll probably realize I LOVE my meal well hot lol), presentation was good, and it was fulfilling! I didn’t need anything else for the rest of the day lol. We washed it down w/Sorrel! Aww man, that Sorrel was sooo good. It almost tasted like my grandmother sorrel YEP ;-)! Anyway, if you are in the area, I’d say check them out. They have a nice variety on the menu(food and drinks)…We also got a chance to speak to the owner, who was cool, personable, and checked in on us to make sure everything was everything. He even mentioned they are having their grand opening in 2wks, among a few things coming in the near future! I’d def return to Rusty’s!

I had such high hopes for this new joint in Port Richmond. I was absolutely disappointed in their service as well as their food. The curried chicken lacked flavor and the waitress was unable to get our order right. For the quality, this place was overpriced. Would have been able to get a tastier meal for the half the price in Brooklyn.

The food is not that good. I’ve had way better in brooklyn. The macaroni pie is dry and hardly has cheese, the rice and peas was dry and the oxtail where rough. I’m very upset. I was really looking forward to a good carribean restaurant on the island.

This place is great and so happy to see another good restaurant in Staten Island that isn’t Italian or Chinese. I predict this place will be open for a long time. I had the jerk chicken and curry shrimp. The curry shrimp was VERY spicy and had nice big shrimp. The jerk chicken was very good but it had little piece of bone in the rice that I don’t like so I won’t get that again, although absent of that, I thought it was good. I think the food is a little pricey, but the large feed me for 2 – 3 meals so I guess it evens out. I shared with 2 Jamaicans who said the food is authentic and delicious. I recommend you give it a try.

Right now this place is the best thing about Staten Island. I purchased the streamed fish, jerk chicken, jerk pork, and ox tails. I can’t stop eating. Absolutely amazing! I have a restaurant I can go to at least once a week.

We were going to Denino’s and noticed this new place, and decided to try them out. What a pleasant and delicious surprise! The Curried Goat was so flavorful, and tender. The Ox-tail was juicy, tender, and really well seasoned. The sweet plantains were just perfect. The place was clean; the staff were friendly; the music choice had me bobbing my head the whole time I was there. I felt like I was on a mini vacation. Will definitely eat here again soon.

I was a little disappointed… the oxtails was a little tough and the macaroni pie was lacking cheese and slightly dry.

New place. The food is delicious and very well priced. Staten Island finally has a good west indian restaurant. I got the jerk chicken and curry goat with rice and peas, plaintains and cabbage. The jerk chicken is one of the best ive had. The curry goat was good. Portions were sized great. And since it is down the block from my house i will definitely be frequenting this place very often.
