HYATT House Sterling/Dulles Airport

After a 6.5 hour drive from New York it was a breath of fresh air to come to this Hyatt in Virginia welcomed by a clean, comfortable, dog friendly room.
The price was reasonable for the outskirts of DC and the pet fee was as well ($ 75.) can’t beat free wifi too.
The room was the perfect sized studio for our overnight trip. The mini kitchen gave us the option to cook in if we chose. The living room is spacious and bathroom was clean.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a 6 day stay. Overall I was very pleased. The room was clean and comfortable, housekeeping was great and front desk staff was also friendly.
There were a couple of downsides, I am a big coffee drinker and there was an advertisement in the elevators for a «Starbucks» like espresso bar, there was no such thing. We came in on a Sunday evening and were hungry after a long flight, we went down to the bar to order some dinner and the bartender first looked at the clock then asked us to take the food to go since they closed at 9. It was 8:30.
I would stay again, besides the bartender I had a great stay.

Love this place! Here’s why.
On arrival at Dulles, I called for a pickup. (You must call.) I waited for 20 minutes, and was just about to call for a Lyft when the van pulled up. They were shortstaffed, so the MANAGER came to pick me up. That’s service.
Checking in was a breeze! The staff was friendly, although they ignored my Hyatt status. No biggie.
The room was *perfect*. Designed for longer stays, this suite had a bedroom area off to the side, a couch, a full-​sized fridge and great wifi and USB connections. Downside: The TV was tiny.
Foodwise, there is a bar that serves food. The prices are normal. The bar was out of some food. The «market pantry» area where you can buy food and snacks tended to be out of stock on lots of stuff. Breakfast was good in the morning, but you weren’t allowed to take food out of the dining area, which seemed odd.
Overall, it was worth it – more so if I had gotten a car to be able to get food from local restaurants. I’ll be back.

This hotel is a 9min drive according to gps. I’ve been waiting well over 30minutes now on the airport shuttle, at the airport. If the shuttle is not good, the hotel worthless to me.

This location is terrible. The lighting in each room is only good if you’re attending a gothic function. The «room service» means you order and then pick it up in the lobby… If they can locate the item you ordered. No alcoholic drinks after 10pm and if you ask for an early check in you’ll be ridiculed at the desk. Stay somewhere else. Seriously the worst.

First of all the hotel rooms are beautiful. They’re like a little apt with a kitchen. Some of the staff is wonderful. Jade, Jeanette, Ali and the Shuttle driver that’s originally from Egypt I don’t have his name. They are ALL amazing. The other staff, kind are hit or miss. I had the same issue as others about the shuttle ONLY GOING TO THE AIRPORT. that is not what the brochure in the room states. After getting the right staff that understand customer service we were able to get them to take us to WEGMANS grocery store. It was an effort though. I think someone needs to have a team meeting and discuss customer service. One of the women at the front desk even threatened me to call corporate. Who does that? The attitude needs to stay at home.

The hotel is very very dirty and the assistant manager who when I had a problem did not even know anything to help me. Very very frustrated, for that much money you think the staff would speak better grammar and be able to help.

The staff and facility is amazing. The front desk staff exceeds my expectations. Subine, Betty and Ricardo are the best!!! The housekeeping and food could not be better. The shuttle service is A+ and the location is great. You can get to a lot of places quickly. However, the WIFI is paralyzing. If you have to work from your room seriously reconsider.

for its price, it is a VERY good hotel. The staff was kind and attentive. free breakfast. free wifi. free parking. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The shower is a little weird because it doesnt have a door-​its just open– but that is not super important. My room had a mini fridge, a nice tv, and a couch. The gym is small but it had weights and some cardio stuff.
i will definitely stay here again.

Great Ambiance, Great Staff, Great Breakfast, Clean Clean Clean!
I strongly recommend choosing to stay at this location if given the opportunity. Don’t waste the time or money at competitors, you will miss out on a super clean environment, an incredible breakfast, impressively courteous and warm staff, and one of the most comfy hotel beds in the industry. I was in awe of the terrific breakfast with fresh juice choices and delicious vegan options – if that is your thing.
The lobby is cozy, clean, and well maintained.
It was a treat to have a comfy bed in a quiet room, it felt far more luxurious than what I was paying. The room was fresh smelling, no musty odors or smoke smell. The linens were clean, crisp, and the hotel gave the option for reusing which is a benefit in my opinion. The carpets in the room and the hallway outside the room were clean and fresh smelling with no stains observed. The walls of the hallway, room, and bathroom were clean and not scuffed or scratched. The bathroom floor were incredibly clean. The fixtures, sink, shower, and toilet were sanitized and functioned well – no complaints on the lighting, switches, or fans. The room was exceptionally quiet – no corridor/​hallway noise or neighboring room noise was encountered.
I never encountered an issue with the wi-​fi, but I don’t use it that much, as it is not a priority for my stay nor a necessity during my stay. It was nice to just chill out and relax and the TV was not used much – too much nature to see outside to be distracted by the idiot box.
Parking was never an issue and the lot was well lighted and safe for my rental.
The staff repeatedly went out of their way to assist me with my many requests and patiently explained their answers to my questions. Everything was so clean!!! The only negative aspect is I had to check out from this location and into a competitor’s establishment due to a reservation mix-​up by the travel agent. The next stay was sorely lacking in all areas when compared to Hyatt House. I will absolutely return to this hotel when next staying in the Dulles area – you should as well as you will not be disappointed.

Summary: We visited the Hyatt House in Sterling, VA to take a look at this hotel, and to find out what they had to offer. We had the opportunity to speak the manager in depth, view the various rooms and understand why guests would choose the Hyatt House Sterling/​Dulles Airport-​North over the other competition in the area. We were also there to visit the Washington, DC over the holiday weekend.
Areas of review:
1. Service: At the front desk, upon checking in/​Greeting we were greeted promptly and with a friendly can do attitude.
2. Hospitality /​housekeeping: The rooms were cleaned in accordance with the hotel standards. We can say with surety, that the rooms we visited were clean and well presented.
3. Amenities: laundry, free WI-​Fi, free parking, Bistro (restaurant), fitness center, pool center. Pets friendly up to 50 pounds.
4. Room: We found them to be spacious and comfortable. They contained the following: a chair, a work desk, flat screen TV, a mini fridge and microwave, the room that was given to us was a small suite. Which had a sofa and a kitchenette.
a. Bed: The beds were firm, but not too hard and well made up.
b. Bathroom: The bathroom was clean and handicap accessible. It was also fitted with necessary amenities, that may be needed such as a hair dryer, soap, shampoo. Etc. The Shower was a modern chic style shower half door with a rain shower head.
5. Food and drink: A small bistro was available in the hotel, and provided full buffet breakfast daily and sandwiches for dinner only. The area was well organized, and could seat about 50 people at a time.
6. Conference Room /​Business Center: The designated area could seat about 40 persons. The room offered overhead projectors, internet access, and voice conferencing. Advance notice is required through the event planner when book the conference room.
7. Pool /​Jacuzzi/​sauna: The hotel contained a pool, and Jacuzzi. We found that these were well maintained and kept clean. There were warning signs and a lifeguard was on duty, the pool was open 9am to 9pm daily. The pool area was kept locked and only accessed by the room key. There were also fresh towels available for use.
8. Maintenance: The property was well maintained, and kept at the standards according to Hyatt Hotels.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I normally don’t complain, but this was so bad I felt obligated to try and save future patrons from this kind of experience.
To start with I am currently 1 week into a 2 week stay for work. After I checked in I came to my room and half the lights in my room were broken. It took my 6 days to get the lights fixed. I spent might after night wandering into my room with my phone just to get to a light I could turn on. I spoke with staff members every night and the manager to try and get this fixed every night they said it would be fixed the next day and when I came back, nothing not even a note saying they looked at it.
The lights were the least of my complaints. This hotel is like staying in the stone age. The internet goes out 2 to 4 times a day just when I was trying to use it, I can hardly imagine how often it really goes out. Since it is a 3^rd party company the hotel doesn’t know anything about it and you have to call some person the doesn’t know English and just says we know and it should be fixed sometime in the next 24 hours.
Lastly when the internet goes out and there is nothing left but TV your shit out of luck. Half the channels are just black. The channels you do get come in with so much static it’s not even worth watching. I have found myself using all my cellular data just to entertain myself for this past week.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL FOR ANY REASON!!! unless your a fan of living in the stone age then its the best choice you will find. The staff is very friendly but fail to follow through on anything they tell you. After all the shit I have been through at this hotel i have not even received a apology from the manger or staff members. Personally I am not sure if I will ever come to another Hyatt again. Enter at your own risk. I will never come back.

Love this place, felt like I had my own little (immaculate) apartment while I was in town visiting. As good as it gets.

Just a few minutes from downtown Leesburg (which I love), I had the opportunity to stay here for work. While near the airport, my room faced the back of hotel and was quite quiet. The room was extra large with a full kitchenette complete with stove and dishwasher if you will be in town for awhile. The living area featured a comfy sofa with chaise for extra down time from the plush beds.
Great space and very economical. Will stay again when passing through!

I just love this place, it was such a great hotel, and very comfortable. Reasonably priced… and since I love to cook the kitchenette area provided me the pleasures of cooking in and saving even more money instead of going out to eat. We traveled to DC for the historical sites and socialized around the Sterling area for movies and shopping experience.
The staff and hotel management provided a cordial experience and were very helpful with suggestions to great places to visit and shop. In addition, there is a fully cooked breakfast bar in the mornings… wow what an excellent way to start the morning!
I highly recommend this hotel, it was great for a week stay with my wife and two teenage girls there was plenty of room to spare. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and you will too!
I agree with another reviewer… once they finalize the METRO stop near the hotel, this will be an awesome addition to just leaving the car at the hotel and taking the METRO into DC and surrounding areas of interest.

Staying at this hotel was a last minute thing for us as our vacation plans had changed. This was one of the best hotel experiences we have had as a family in a long time. We travel several times a year with our 4 children so family friendly hotels are a necessity. The hotel was a great value for the money. The front desk staff was amazing and helped us out tremendously. The breakfast buffet was great and got high marks from the kids as well as adults.
The hotel was also at a great position right off the highway and close to food and attractions.
We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area in the future.

Such a great hotel, very comfortable for this weary traveler. We booked through Expedia and expected to get the kitchenette room and much to our dismay found that we had just a regular room. A quick call to the front desk and we were moved quickly. This is what I call excellent service.
The full breakfast in the morning was an excellent way to start the day. I am vegan but was able to find plenty of things to fill up on. Not only does it save you money but also saves time when you are in a hurry to get to the day’s agenda.
Staff was cordial and helpful with directions when we needed it. Room was very clean, area was very safe. This hotel is not close to the metro station but as I understand it, they will be expanding a line to the Dulles airport which will make this hotel a five star.
I highly recommend this hotel, it was great for a week stay with my husband and two of my children. Enjoy the sights in DC and Virginia, truly a beautiful place.

We arrived here the Sunday before Christmas. The place is brand new and nice chic, urban layout. The beds were super comfortable and the exercise room was sweet. The bathroom had soap, lotion, and shampoo dispensers. I kinda wished there were those small bottles to bring home. Well, I had an empty lotion bottle and fill up on it since it wasn’t overly scented and nice. The breakfast was certainly an upgrade from normal with omelet bar. However, my parents told me it was nicer over in San Jose. There is outdoor pool which was a bummer but everything else was nice. I think from all these hotels on our trip I would still prefer the Hyatt Place. It was certainly more unique than the others in the DC area.

this place was AMAZING! So impressed! Very clean, very spacious! The staff at Hyatt House were incredibly helpful and kind. Betty at the front desk, was able to point me in the direction of restaurants, the highway and gave me good advice on when to leave to get into the city. The room was magnificent. Large, king sized bed, comfortable living area, useful kitchenette and a very nice bathroom. I wish I could stay here all the time!
one thing that bothered me: no outlets by the bed! I had to unplug the lamp to charge my phone and computer. Oh well!
This place was great overall! Would love to stay here again, soon!

This was our 1^st time staying at a Hyatt House. Suites with full fridge, stove top, sink. Similar couch to Hyatt Place, flat screen TV swivels to watch from bed or couch. High working desk with 4 outlets (nice). No outlets next to bed, unless you unplug lights or clock. Very interesting bathroom shower. Glass wall with rainfall fixture, hole in the glass to turn on shower (clever). Mixture of dark & blond woods is very modern looking.
This seems like an upscaling of the hyatt place or sommerfield suites. This location plenty of parking while we stayed. Right off freeway, close to Dulles. However we fly out of DCA (delta owns us) & it was a 40 min drive at 3 AM, (no traffic nor construction).
We would definately stay at a Hyatt House again!
