First time renting from FlightCar and I have to say these guys rock! I arrived late after hours and Barrod waited for me to arrive. His customer service was incredible and the car we rented was beyond clean. Thanks again FlightCar you have made me a believer in your services.

Been using flightcar in this location several times last year, but had the best experience recently with Jack who was very professional, helpful, thorough and detail oriented. Car came back clean, paperwork was a breeze. Both the drop off and the pickup went smoothly. He went out of his way to make it easy on me. I had very heavy luggages and preferred to be dropped off and picked up in my car and he did not mind doing it. He even helped me carry them in and out of my car! Highly recommend!

I’ve used flight car several times, Jack S. helped me arrange dropping of my car and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend using them, they are a great deal and always take care of your vehicle.

I’ve left my cars with FlightCar at Dulles a few times over the last year since I travel frequently and it’s been generally a positive experience. I love supporting interesting and new startup businesses, and I think their concept is a great one, and the execution has been improving over time. Many of the times that I’ve dropped my car off, it has not been rented. However, when my car has been rented, it’s returned in great condition. At one point I had a negative customer service experience due to a misunderstanding, but once the staff member, Jack Spencer, realized their mistake, he went through great efforts to make it up and remedy the situation. Jack and the rest of the staff have been very accommodating and courteous, and I would definitely rent with them again.

Interesting concept. We went on a 16-​day vacation and left our minivan with Flightcar to take advantage of free parking. Since we would have parked in the economy lot otherwise ($ 10/​day), I figured we’d save at least $ 160. Our car was rented out for about two weeks and driven 1,000 miles. That’s within FlightCar’s regular mileage allowance, so we got a $ 100 payout at ten cents/​mile. I’m not sure if $ 260 in parking savings+payout is really worth it for adding 1,000 miles of driving on your car. The car was returned clean. No complaints there. They do need to work on getting people to/​from the airport more efficiently. We were driven to the airport in our own car by a FlightCar employee (not a «black car» service) and instead of getting picked up by a FlightCar shuttle when we returned we were told to take a taxi back to FlightCar and would be reimbursed.
I think I’d much more readily use FlightCar to rent a car, since it is substantially cheaper than rental agencies. But at only 10 cents/​mile reimbursement I’m not convinced it’s worth it to leave your car.

I had a great experience renting from Flightcar! We used Flightcar to rent from Dulles and drive down to Williamsburg for a night. The car was ready at pickup time, and it was very simple to drop it back off at Dulles the next night when we returned. Taking Metro to/​from Dulles took a bit of time from DC, but it was worth it for the savings as compared to a regular rental care from Hertz or from Zipcar. I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews but was very pleased with my experience and hope other people take advantage of the Flightcar service! I wouldn’t have known about it except for going on Kayak and seeing that it was the cheapest option.

I had a terrible experience with flight car. We left our car with them in August. We were told they would store a few things we had in the trunk for us. When we came back to get our car — all of our stuff was gone and no where to be found. No one is helping find any of our stuff after 3 months of emails and countless phone calls. On top of that we keep getting tickets in the mail from when our car was with flight car (we got the third one yesterday). Overall the experience has ended up costing us a ton of money. We try to support start ups and small business but the customer service has been the most disappointing part of this entire experience. I would never leave my car or use their services again.

I rented a car from the Dulles location for 5 days. I picked the cheapest, smallest car because that’s all I needed. Because I paid in advance, it was $ 87. SCORE.
I called for an airport pickup when I got my luggage and after waiting about 20 minutes, called back and was told they couldn’t pick me up and to take a cab and I would be reimbursed. No problem– I wasn’t in a hurry anyway, but I still haven’t been reimbursed for the $ 13 cab ride.
I was given an Infiniti G35X, which was awesome for the price. I used to own an Infiniti G35S, so it was fun to drive and I knew where everything was. I inquired about an EZPass toll pass when I picked up the vehicle and was told that service wasn’t offered. No problem. All week I was driving through the «Full Service» lanes to pay cash for the tolls. When I exited the Dulles Toll road for the last time to return the car, the toll worker in the Full Service lane told me there must be an EZPass somewhere in the vehicle because it was registering as paid. I did not see the EZPass in the windshield or anywhere in the car– although I did not go through every compartment. I’m sure the owner will be mad if he is charged for this.
Overall, I was very happy with the Infiniti, BUT the car was a MESS. The trunk was an absolute disaster with golf shoes and other random things everywhere. It was dirty and I could not put my luggage back there because there was so much other crap. The inside of the car had a lot of random stuff in it too– I was afraid that something was going to fall out of one of the door pockets. FlightCar should have the owners clean out their cars before turning them in. Also, I put premium gas in the car because I used to own this exact vehicle so I knew it needed it, but none of the employees told me to do this. Regular gas will ruin the car– I’m sure the owner would not be happy to know that FlightCar did not tell the renter it required 91 or higher gas.
Both of the gentlemen working at the Dulles pick-​up/​drop-​off site were very nice, friendly, and seemed knowledgeable. They apologized for me having to take a cab, and generally seemed concerned with my satisfaction. However, the phone customer service was terrible. I unexpectedly had to change my flight, which caused me to have to fly out of Reagan instead of Dulles. I called to ask if there was another location where I could drop the car off and the person had no idea. He seemed clueless about everything I asked him. I asked if there was a late fee– he didn’t know. I asked if there was a location near the other airport– he didn’t know. I asked how much I would be charged for any of these things– he didn’t know. I asked what FlightCar’s contingency plan is in the event that someone cannot return the car– he had no idea. All he told me what that if I smoked in the car it would be $ 2000. This was not helpful. He was polite, but just kept saying «they will probably be charging a fee»… OK, WHAT IS THE FEE? I asked him to get someone on the phone who could help me– he put me on hold for several minutes and came back on and said he couldn’t reach the Dulles location. This was not helpful either. I finally hung up because he was so slow at trying to get me any information and I had to make a decision quickly about what I was going to do. It was a HUGE inconvenience and was stressful to have to drive out to Dulles and take an Über back to Reagan (I was staying in DC). I almost missed my flight and would have liked to pay a fee to leave the car somewhere else or bring it to another location, but he couldn’t tell me anything about what my options were. I really liked the idea of FlightCar, but the lack of flexibility in this regard will deter me from renting with FlightCar again. If I call Hertz and tell them I need to change my drop off location or return the car late, they say no problem and make it happen.
With the rental fee ($ 87), the taxi ($ 13), and the Über ($ 45), it ended up being a $ 145 rental. It is obviously not FlightCar’s problem that I had to change my flight, but it would have been nice if they had other options for customer drop-​off in the event of travel changes.
I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NEVER LEAVE MY CAR WITH FLIGHT CAR AND ALLOW THEM TO RENT IT OUT. I would, however, consider renting with them again as long as I have a little flexibility. I would not rent with them on a business trip, or anytime where I need to potentially make changes to my itinerary.

Great idea but cross your fingers if you leave your car with them. Staff were not professional or trained very well. I feel fortunate my car was not stolen since my keys were left in the ignition for a week.
Upon completing the car registration process, my wife and I were told our ride was 5 minutes away. 30 minutes later, we were picked up (as a note: we saw the hotel shuttle leave twice in that time). Not a big deal, but we felt deceived. Recommendation: If you use, leave plenty of time to get to airport (in case you have to call a cab yourself).
During our week-​long trip I was notified that my car was rented and a few days later I was notified that the car was returned.
Upon arrival to the airport, I was told by staff that I would be picked up in my Honda CR-​V, however, I was actually picked up in another customer’s car (he thought it was mine apparently). Upon arrival to the FlightCar registration and pickup area, the staff spent 10 minutes unsuccessfully searching within the key box and surrounding drawers for my car key. When I asked if the car was in the lot his response was «I don’t know.» Because I was tired of waiting, I went to physically search the lot for my vehicle while the staff searched the computer and called some other employees. When I found my vehicle, I was shocked to not only find the car unlocked, but my key was also in the ignition. As you can imagine, I was extremely shocked that my car was left completely unsecured in a public lot with the key in the ignition! I later found out the key was likely in the car for the entire week!
When I returned to tell the staff that I found the car with the key in the ignition, the only thing he said was «Oh that doesn’t look good.» When I asked how long the car was in that spot, he checked the system to tell me it was not rented out (so the entire 8 days that I was gone it was left with the key in the ignition!!!). I told him that I received an email that my car was rented and returned but he was unable to verify my rental in the system. Also when I went to examine the interior of the car with the him, the staff agreed that it did not look like it was vacuumed (as I was lead to believe).
When he went to complete the online survey and ask for my signature for receiving the car, he said «other than all the issues we noted, would you rate this a good experience?» and I laughed and said yes. There was no mention of how FlightCar would try and make my situation better.

This is closed! They still take reservations so beware. Called me when I arrived here to tell me there’s no service and to rent from somewhere else.

Horrible, do not use. Drop off was pleasant, downhill from there. The car smells strongly of puke after two weeks home. They lost or stole my registration card and are having me jump through hoops for $ 6.49 reimbursement to get a new one. Not cool. I don’t even care about the money, but they are maintaining that they mailed my registration back to me before I got home. That can’t be true. Someone had rented my car the day I got back so my registration had to be with it or they were having these people drive my car around illegally without the registration. Either way, NOT COOL.

Sure, they seem cheap, but there’s a reason. They bait and switch. You pay for a new luxury car and then bump you multiple classes below to a simple sedan – even worse charging you 50% more than you’d pay for the sedan if you’d just booked that class at first. Stay away from this company – they lie.

Hey everyone — Just want to let you know that FlightCar and I have communicated a number of times since the incident described above. They regretted the situation and offered me two days of free rental. Since I rarely rent cars, I asked if they would be willing to reimburse me for my long-​term parking at IAD and I sent them a copy of my receipt. FlightCar agreed and reimbursed me the full expense via PayPal. I appreciate FlightCar owning up to the oversight and hope this startup irons out the kinks in their service. Again, it’s a great concept, but needs some work.

Well let’s say we were supposed to have rented an AudiA4 or similar car… When we got in at 1 in the morning they told us we were getting a Honda at the SAME PRICE. They messed up the gas level and then charged us for driving over the miles even though we weren’t even close. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING! When we called and asked customer service they told us we were lucky to even get a car for the Forth of July. Call me crazy but I thought that was why we made a reservation that we confirmed. We like to support upstarts but will never be using Flight car again!

FlightCar is awesome. Loved the car, loved the service, loved the price. Isaiah was really helpful.

I made a reservation 3 weeks prior to our trip (confirmation #flig-​wash-​DCF3038942) but when we showed up and called the number for pickup first I was told there was no reservation despite my conformation number!!) and then that you were oversold and they could do nothing about it other than help me get a Resevation with another car company — and I would have to pay the difference in rate! I will NEVER use your unreliable service again. That’s what I get for trying a
startup.

Easy way to get more-​than-​free airport parking! What do I mean by more-​than-​free parking? Meaning that they will PAY YOU to park your car there. How does it work? Basically, we dropped off our car at Flightcar (which is located inside a hotel) and they ordered a shuttle to take us to the airport. While we had our vacation, they rented out our car (with a limitation of only 100 miles per day) to other customers. Insurance fully covers any damages and they take thorough pictures both before and after. When we returned, they texted us and asked us when we needed to be picked up, picked us up in our car and drove us back to FlightCar. They had given us a free car wash and vacuum service (before and after the car was rented out) and gave us a rundown of how many miles were added to the car, etc. You are paid for every mile added to the car and it comes out cleaner than when you dropped it off. In the end, we made over $ 35 for parking our car with them… and saved however much it would have been to park it at the airport.
Now, I probably wouldn’t leave my spankin’ new Mercedes (if I had one), but for our older cheap car, this is an awesome service. The staff were all super friendly and very professional. We’d definitely use it again.

This is a new and amazing experience. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and quick. I left my car there to be rented (it was not rented) while I went on vacation and I returned to a cleaner car. I highly recommend this service… whether to rent or have your car rented while you go away on vacation. I’ll definitely be using this again.

We had a great experience with FlightCar as a last minute rental solution. It was cheaper than regular rental, reliable, and convenient. The customer service was great — Duke took good care of us. We rented a 2006 hybrid that had great gas mileage and did not have many miles on it. The 600 miles daily limit was more than enough for us. The free GPS rental was also extremely handy. We got a small refund promptly since we had originally booked 2009 or newer model. The pick up and drop off process went smoothly and we were in and out pretty quickly. The car service was also quite prompt. All in all a great experience. TIPS: Always ask about the car you’re assigned — model year, mileage and compare to what you booked. If you’re picking up or dropping off a car at a late/​early hour, call ahead to make sure someone is expecting you. I called the main line as we were on way to drop off the car, and they made sure there was a car waiting to drop us off at the airport.
