We stopped here to take pictures of the cool graphics of trains on the side of the building. The waitress called out to us and said«come on in!!» Went in and had coffee drinks and a delicious Apple crunch, cheesecake thingy. Food is all homemade, fresh and the staff is delightful. It’s totally worth the detour to the Washington Side of The Gorge.

This place is a gem. Everyone in here was so friendly and helpful, and everything we tried was top notch. I could easily see myself coming here everyday to gorge myself on their food if I lived nearby. From the coffee and chai, to the smoked salmon quiche, or the strangely named blackberry bo-biscuit(mix between a donut and scone) everything was amazingly great!

Great stop for a quick coffee or baked good! Always fresh and the staff is quick to remember your name and order! Always friendly and a great atmosphere for a café. The owner is also a florist so it’s a great one stop shop for something chocolatey and flowers!

We had been traveling for about four hours and decided to stop in for lunch and to take a break. We shared an Italian Panini and potato salad. The sandwich was thick with various meats and havarti cheese and was fresh and delicious and very hot. The potato salad was full of pickles, olives, and potatoes with a flavorful mustardy mayo. Perfection! Also the treats were to die for. We tried the brownie and it was fudgy stick to the wall amazingness. I should also mention that the bathroom was the most clean and comfy that we found since we left on our trip. Looking forward to stopping in again next time.

The Whistle Stop’s address is Stevenson, but it’s not in town. It’s within a mile of the Dog Mountain trailhead between Dog Mountain and Stevenson on Washington State Road 14. Speaking of which, have you ever hiked Dog Mountain and then wanted to go wash the trail dust out of your throat with a beer and maybe some lunch? And of course you know if you roll into Stevenson before 3PM(4PM on a weekday) Walking Man brewing isn’t open. Options are limited, right? Well the Whistle Stop is the place! From the road it’s not clear what it is exactly. And don’t blink or you’ll miss it. It’s just a little building on the side of the road, with not much around it. Primarily it looks to be a coffee place. There’s even a drive up window to grab a coffed drink. But if you stop and go inside you see that it’s much more than that. It’s a little deli and convenience store. You can get a sandwich made, some times some soup. Behind it is a greenhouse, and the place is full of vibrant plant life. Bu the key thing to note – and this obviously reflects my priorities – is that it’s a respectable BOTTLESHOP. There are the usual 6-packs, and there is also a respectable selection of wines. But – here is what made me think«Cha-ching!» when I first stopped in – there must be 75 — 100 bottled beers. I’m talking 22 oz. craft beers. I just stopped in and found Double Mountain’s Molten Lava(their Imperial IPA). This is the first time I’ve ever seen it in bottles! You can hang out if you like. There is an interior room with tables to dine at, with a big screen TV. Outside is a huge covered patio with some creepy-cool dressed mannequins. No shit! And the staff are super super nice and helpful. They’ll chat you up and in no time you’ll be having a good time. You should totally stop here for lunch and a beer!
