History

Established in 1910.

Reliable Sewing Machine Company was founded more than a century ago by Abraham Sheroff to service the professional garment industry in New England. Originally based in Boston’s Chinatown, it grew from a small local business into a world-wide organization, supplying all the needs of the needle trade.

Mr. Sheroff eventually was joined by his four sons at Reliable, each with his own specialty. Later on, grandchildren came on board as well, making sewing machines and related equipment a true family business.

Employees became part of the family as well. To this day, some employees have been with Reliable for more than 50 years.

Now based in Stoughton, Massachusetts in a large industrial building, Reliable Sewing Machine Company still services all aspects of the needle trade. Manufacturers and home-sewers alike can get all the best equipment, accessories and advice at our spacious showroom with its fully stocked warehouse.

We treasure the customers we have been working with for so long.

Reliable, still owned by the Sheroff family, continues to provide the level of commitment that Mel showed during his years at the company
