I missed this moving over the hill! Was excited to see it had. We went for a birthday brunch and managed to get a table for a group of 8 after a little wait. Staff super helpful. I ordered the famed short rib sandwich which was amazing. My only critique was the melty cheese to meat ratio was a little off. More cheese, more mixing with the meat but the crunchy, golden bread was PERFECTION! The sandwiches are quite large and you can actually share as I ended up bring half home. I know others raved about the French Toast and I can’t recall what everyone else had but there were no complaints! A great addition the blvd!

Good food only I’m upset they messed my order up and I didn’t notice until I got home(a live all the way by lax). So! It’s Valentine’s Day and the dinner I thought I would have ready for my boyfriend is not what i planned it to be. Thanks a lot employees who don’t pay mind because they are busy talking amongst themselves! The item that we got that was right was tasty, and that was the lasagne.

Regretfully, it does deserve an overall 3.5 star rating despite having a great ambiance and an equally great location. The majority of the staff is also not bad, and their food is not terrible. but their sensitivity to parents with young babies — some of their top customer base — is disappointing. Every time our small family walks to Joan’s to have tea/coffee/lunch, this woman that seems to be one of the managers, comes out. She seems friendly and helpful, and always asks us where we would like to seat. But every time we point to a 4-people table, she says, «But’s it’s only 2 of you». No, it’s not just the two of us. Neither it is the 2 of us and a stroller. It is a the THREE of us PLUS a stroller. This is a baby in there, a human being, a person. And he needs space just like any adults would. So don’t point to us and say it’s just the two of you and a stroller. And don’t point to us and say, «We don’t mind if you seat there.» What don’t you mind? Us? Our baby? Us patronizing your restaurant? Or that we choose Joan’s among a multitude of other restaurants in Studio City? And if you are so nervous about giving up your 4-people table to a family of three, I can put your mind to rest. As a breastfeeding mother, I eat(and order) for two.

This place gives me all the feels. I love Joan’s on Third! The ambiance is bright and cheery; making me feel like I am on vacation. Always a good thing. I’ve been there on a slow night, a lunch rush, and in brunch village mayhem. I still love it when I can’t find parking and there is no place to sit because the food is worth it. When I don’t feel like cooking it is a joy to walk up to prepared hot food just staring at me. Every hot potato dish… makes me wanna slap somebody! Have you had the mashed potatoes? The au gratin? The fingerlings? I mean?! Come on JOAN!!! My biggest addiction is the Southwest Salad. It’s fresh, crisp and boutinful and don’t get me started on the chocolate pudding. Please make extra large cups or tubs, so I can bathe in it!

This place is pretty rad now. Its not perfect, but it has come a long way since opening. I can tell management is working hard to keep it running like a well oiled machine. Their pastries are the absolute best in the Val. Banana Chocolate Muffin, nutella pop tart, chocolate chip cookie, bran muffin… everything is seriously delicious and freshly baked. I also love their pre made foods for a to go meal. I do think prices are on the high end, though. The space is beautiful and always decorated for holidays, which is cute. Great addition to the 818.

Was afraid we couldn’t find parking for this location of Joan’s on Third, with that main street barely having any street parking meters. But if you go to the neighborhood behind the street, there tends to be parking and you can just walk around. I’ve only ever had the short rib sandwich which is good every time. I always get a lemonade, but I’m always disappointed because I finish it in 2 sips and the cup is 90% ice which is very annoying to me. Service is okay here, and seating is very limited.

JOT, better and better by each visit. Over a year now and enjoy the welcome back home like greeting when opening the door. Ashton rocks the cheese counter and has managed to teach a few things to this French born cheese lover with local or different cheese. The Comte is the Best ., Only regret is the loss of the older comte that was offered last year. Oh what a difference a year makes in the ageing of the cheese, worth every pennies extra compared with the younger cheese. the Affinois cheese is to die for. try it in the ficelle sandwich with ham, I suggest a visit to the deli counter and order the short rib grilled cheese sandwich with a small twist(ask for the crème fraîche with Horseradish to accompany this great sandwich) I also have re-discovered the BLT there. Another simple order that would satisfy you on one of those days you do not feel like cooking. I am also glad to find the Squirl Jams there(no more schlepping to Silverlake for that shopping). I would love to see some special cheese tasting nights(with wine pairing) to educate any cheese lover’s palate. Shout out to Wendy for managing the best store in the valley and surrounds herself with a fun group of employees ! Just keep in mind that on Sundays that corner of the valley sees a busy farmer’s market with it’s difficulties to park.

On any other day I would have given this place a 5STAR rating — but today, Sunday, January 24th, 2016, I had an experience which is making me give it a «ONESTAR» rating… or A ZERORATINGIF I COULD. Will I go back to this place, I DON’T KNOW… I DON’T TRUSTTHEMANYMORE! (My wife and I have visited this place about 5 times, LOVEDEVERYTHINGABOUTITANDLOOKEDFORWARDTOANYCHANCETOBETHERE.) But today, eight of us went there for lunch. I wrote down everybody’s order on paper, making sure that there was no confusion, NONEOFTHEDISHESWEREREPEATED, ALLOFUSHAD A DIFFERENTDISH(sandwich or soup). After we ordered and paid, I asked for water, they said ok, but no one told us that they don’t serve the glass water bottles anymore, you have to get it yourself, which was not a problem, just wished someone would have told us when I asked for water so we didn’t have to wait. Also, had to ask for the bread and butter which they usually bring out asap. Anyhow, the server brought three sandwiches first, TWO Maple chicken sandwiches and one Fried chicken sandwich. I told her that we ONLYORDEREDONEMAPLE chicken sandwich NOTTWO… but she(the server) sort of didn’t believe me, so I showed her the receipt. On top of it I asked her TWOTIMES if the sandwich she gave me was a fried chicken sandwich, which I had ordered for myself, she said, «YES» both of the times, which was heard by three more people in our group. She went back to the kitchen with the«doubled» Maple chicken sandwich order. A friend in our group got the maple chicken sandwich and I took a bite of mine, the fried chicken sandwich, but felt like I was eating something other than a fried chicken sandwich. Remind you, I had asked the server«TWICE» whether that was the«fried chicken sandwich.» It turned out: ITWASNOTTHEFRIEDCHICKENSANDWICH — ITWASTHEPULLEDPORKSANDWICH. [Here, I have to tell you that I am a Muslim, and for you who don’t know, we do NOTEATPORK!!! It made me a little upset that she made me eat pork when I asked her TWICE what kind of sandwich it was.] But forget for a second that I am a Muslim, forget that I cannot eat pork for whatever reasons… what if I was severely allergic to let’s say peanuts or something else, and I asked for peanuts to NOT be put in my food. And the server brings me food with the peanuts in the dish and I ask her repeatedly if this dish contains any peanuts, and the server says«NO,» and I believe her as I did, I WOULDHAVEBEENINTHEHOSPITAL, HOPEFULLYNOTDEAD! So, I took the sandwich and went to the counter and asked if this was the fried chicken sandwich where they told me that it was NOT and that it was the«Pulled Pork» sandwich. I told the server as politely as I could that she made me eat pork, when I asked her TWOTIMES if it was a chicken sandwich and she said yes, two times even after checking. This makes you think that they have people working there who don’t know what they are serving to you at all or just don’t care… At that time the other orders arrived. This matter was taken to the manager, and they looked at my receipt. So, after all that waiting, we were two sandwiches short, which of course took a bit of time to arrive. Here is my conclusion: if you are a group, this may not be a good place for you to go during lunch time, even on a Sunday afternoon. But if you do, keep your receipt handy and double check your order to make sure you are getting WHATYOUORDERED, ESPECIALLYIFYOUAREALLERGICTOSOMETHING. Granted, orders can get mixed up, but a server NOTKNOWINGWHATKINDOFFOODSHE(or he) is giving you, that is a problem! I am really concerned for those who cannot eat certain things due to simple HEALTHREASONS let alone religious ones. So the fact is I loved that place, now, I am NOTSURE any longer. Sadly this incident really busted my whole day. I really hope that the management will take training of their people much more seriously. Thank You!

Amazing food! You can tell its top quality! I like the grandmas sandwich and their salad trio is a must. For the three salads I got the egg salad(so creamy and delicious) curry chicken salad(very nice) and their green bean salad(SOGOOD!)

I am so happy I finally brunched at the infamous Joan’s on Third! With crowds of people bustling around before you even walk in, you know you’re at a popular destination, and it’s fun to be part of the lively atmosphere. Great place to go for 2 – 4 people(it’s busy so it can be hard to acquire a table). My first thought when ordering was that I had to try their special, the lobster roll. Not the best choice, because while the bread was buttery and perfectly decadent, and the lobster was fresh, the sauce and seasoning was a bit too much and not my favorite. The roll was still good, but I think simpler is better. The winner of this outing though was the soup-of-the day! I tried the mushroom soup and wow! Honestly, 6⁄5 stars easy. Overall, I enjoyed the look and feel of the place, the food was good, and the company was energetic and lively. BONUS: They had a cheese bar and I bought some scrumptious truffle d’affinois to-go, and I was pretty happy with my choice.

This place was awesome! Came in for brunch and had the eggs Benedict. They toast their muffin with butter so the bread still had a crunch to it even with the yolk all over it. Sister had the omelette which was good too. We tried a few cookies and cakes too. Get the Nutella cake/loaf. It was so moist and delicious. I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food! Definitely my favorite restaurant. My husband & I come here once a week for brunch. I usually order eggs Benedict, and my husband orders the NY breakfast sandwich, it is always fantastic! The décor is beautiful & the staff is so nice :) I would give this place 10 starts, if I could. I read the other reviews about it being over priced, I feel like the price is just right, you can taste the quality of the food & how fresh it is… Totally worth it! If you want cheap food go to Ihop or McDonald’s…lol

Pretty dank. Great ambiance. The interior is very nice and modern. I love the tiling. Also, so many options/goodies to choose from that aren’t even on the menu. I went for breakfast and really enjoyed everything. Strong coffee and tasty eggs. They are a bit overpriced for my liking but whatever, at least everything is bomb. Can’t wait to go back!

Joan’s on Third was really the godfather of the current food hall craze that’s been spreading through the Los Angeles culinary scene. The valley location is fairly new and a welcome addition to the valley. If you’re not familiar with the food hall concept, it pretty much is what it is. It’s a series of counters that offer different varieties of foods for your pleasure. It’s often dressed to look like a New England cottage kitchen for some reason with wainscoting and white marble counters. If you really pay attention to the concept at one of the many food halls that’s been popping up in LA, you’ll notice this. The food generally range from pretty good to very good, depending on what you order, but as always your mileage may vary. Pricing is pretty similar to other establishments. We had oatmeal, she had eggs and bacon and we had juice and coffee and it came out to be a little under $ 40. That’s about the range, but as always if you’re smart you can get out of there in good shape. What I like about this location is the amount of outdoor seating. Because it’s located off of Ventura, the foot traffic isn’t as crazy, but it also limits its exposure to walk ins. Parking is either valet, but save the money and park on the street. Be careful and check the signs if you park in the neighborhood because a $ 50 meal can easily become a $ 150 meal.

What a lovely place to grab a drink, lunch or dessert. The location is very nice, fancy but not stuffy, white and airy, lovely for a lunch with the girls. I went with a coffee and a strawberry poptart and both were delicious. Service was nice, my son had a scoop of the cookies and cream ice cream and it was excellent. Creamy and decadent, very rich and tasty, will have to get myself a scoop next time. Plenty of in as well as outdoor seating. Parking is a pain, either valet or on the street if you are lucky. Will have to come back and try more, had a really nice time here.

What I love about LA is that there are tons of cool restaurants to check out(unlike the chains in OC). Joan’s on Third was one of these and I was so excited to try it out! We arrived after the lunch rush and placed our order in the middle registers. The set up is kinda cool – baked goods up front and sandwiches and salads in the middle. There was a cold fridge area for drinks and perishables. There are a ton of cool candies to buy and try which I did(chocolate marshmallow caramels, anyone?). I asked what they are known for and the cashier said tarragon chicken salad, so I chose that, on ciabatta. My friend chose tomato mozzerella sandwich with balsamic. We both got green iced teas and found a seat outside. Food came rather fast and the patio was happening. Our food came with pickles(Love) so I put those in my chicken salad sandwich. It was appropriately dressed and really flavorful. I thought it was the right size. My friend asked for some Balsamic which really helped her sandwich. We chose to get some desserts as well, so i bought the aforementioned caramels and 2 chocolate chip cookies(also a signature). She got a couple muffins. I liked Joan’s on 3rd and would go back again if in the area.

When this restaurant came to Studio City, I was super excited! When you walk in to the store slash restaurant you get a very inviting feeling as if you are walking into your mom’s kitchen it’s bright, open, and crisp. There is a deli, and mini store with some nice offerings. The food items is like an upscale deli. I try everything! I love the coffee though, it’s not bitter at all. I wish it was a little bigger in size. I must say that I love their breakfast!

I’ve been to the original Joan’s on Third and I was nearby, so I thought I’d pop in for a little bite to eat. I snagged metered parking out front for $ 2 minimum and proceeded to walk inside to the cash register on the west side of the restaurant. There were two employees nearby who ignored me for a bit and then finally the guy said he was training someone, so I should go to another register. I was in a relaxed mood, so I moseyed on over to the east side of the restaurant and stood there again while the employees on that side basically ignored me. I almost walked over to the register by the door with just baked goods and coffee, but figured I wasn’t ordering a muffin, so I better stay by the kitchen. Finally, a restaurant employee walks up and I say hello and she barely says hello or smiles. I decide I’m going to order because I’ve already paid for parking and I’m not going to let rude or unfriendly people get to me at that point in time. Note to owner and manager: Hire cheerful and helpful people and you may get more business. I ordered the corned beef hash and a latte and I really liked those a lot. I would most likely bump this review up to four stars if the staff had less of an attitude.

Joan’s on Third is a gourmet marketplace & café. They have a large selection of cheeses, wines, meats, bake goods and other homemade items. This is a great place to come shop and grab a bite to eat. I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning, here’s what I got: NY Breakfast sandwich w/a side of the hash browns: scrambled eggs, bacon & monterey jack cheese on toasted country bread(AMAZING!!! OMGTHATBREAD&CHEESECOMBOISONPOINT) I also had a coffee, which you can never go wrong with :) Overall, I had a great experience. Service was quick & friendly. I definitely want to come back to try more items on their menu(especially their sandwiches) Parking can be a little difficult since they don’t have a parking lot. Mainly street parking which can be hard in this area. xo, Naomi

Stopped by after seeing the LA Times food editor, Amy Scattergood, post her grilled cheese sandwich and Cholula hot sauce«lunch of champions» on my IG feed. I was thinking, I can make an excellent grilled cheese sammie at home, but then it’s Joan on Third now in the Valley! I had to check it out. Know that parking is an issue at Joan’s on Third in Studio City. I circled the area maybe twice and decided to park in the Big 5 parking lot as I saw most people were doing. The sandwich was good, but the hot sauce added to it made it awesome. It’s not the best grilled cheese sandwich, it’s a good one if you don’t want to make one at home. I still love Nordstrom’s grilled cheese sandwiches they serve in their cafes from their children’s menu. I’m a fan of Joan’s on Third’s potato chips and walking around their marketplace. It’s fun to look at around here. There’s market place is sprinkled throughout the restaurant, along the perimeter and in the middle. There’s also a counter where you can buy ice cream, coffee, and pastries. Recommended!
