The attempt to look retro works. The flavors leave a lot to be desired. Even a free scoop will not get me to consume their wasteful calories.

Awesome. As soon as I walked in I said to the girl this reminds me of an old fashioned ice cream parlor from the East Coast that I go to. She said the owner is from the East Coast. The ice cream is delicious and the whole place has a vintage 50s vibe — a little bit of New York, New England, and LA all fused together perfectly. Read the owners bio on the website and you’ll totally understand. Try the samples. Very hard to decide. And it’s Organic on top of it too. And they have ice cream sodas and real Italian ice along with a whole bunch of other dessert concoctions. Very happy they’re here. Great addition to LA.

This place has a cute vintagey feel when you walk in. The employees were very friendly and were generous with sampling the different flavors before committing(which is important to me because I hate choosing something I regret!). What I got: Cookie Monster, Paula’s Pure Pistachio, and salty caramel The employee informed me that the Cookie Monster is the most popular flavor, and it was indeed good. The Cookie Monster is their version of cookies and cream ice cream, but unlike the typical ice cream, it had both oreo crumbs and cookie crumbs. The salty caramel was tasty as well. But what stood out the most to me was the pistachio. I’ve never tried any other pistachio flavored ice cream that tasted like this one. This one had a distinctly different note to it. It tasted very deep and rich, very nutty, and closest the real pistachio flavor that I’ve tried. I highly recommend it! The owner was friendly as well, explaining to us what her idea and hope for the store was when her and her husband were opening it. I had a pleasant experience here. I would go more often if I lived closer to it.

This place is hidden but what a gem! Loved the flavors especially the chocolate ice. Could never quite find a dark chocolate ice cream that’s bitter enough because of the milk but this was just perfect and the place was so cute and had a vintage feel to it! The prices were reasonable and will definitely come back

I went here a few days ago near closing, which I usually try to avoid but my friend and I were craving something sweet. Having never been here before I didn’t know what to expect but the place was so darling and quaint I didn’t want to leave. The girl working behind the counter was sweet and offered us to try some samples — which we did without hesitation. I was also impressed at how kind she was to another couple who seemed to need to try EVERYSINGLE flavor. However, she never showed she was annoyed and gave the same smile every time. It’s the little details of being kind that I really appreciate about customer service, I wish I caught her name. Anyways her favorite was the Cookie Monster(I think it’s called that) and it was amazing!

Very cool ice cream shop! It’s 1950s-like, but also hipstery. You can sit at the ice cream bar or choose from a couple of tables. The three scoop sundae was plentiful, had a good price, and was awesome! Ice Cream Flavors: Strawberry, Cookie(like Cookies ‘n Cream), and Bananas Foster Toppings: Hot Fudge, rainbow sprinkles(they also have chocolate), and whipped crea. Would never have found this place without Unilocal because it’s in the back of a dingy and dark parking lot.

Past by yesterday and grabbed couple of scoops of my favorite flavor vanilla and dark chocolate. I like the selection here and the way they serve it. Friendly staff and great prices.

I’m friends with Lisa’s daughter, so I heard about this place from her. This place is INCREDIBLE. Amazing, homemade, ice cream and Italian ice! My personal favorites were the Cookie Monster and the Organic Dark Chocolate. So creamy and delicious. It’s a nice place with a cute interior. I like their interesting chandelier and the colors on the walls. I also think the Local Ice logo is cool, it’s like vintage, but modern… Real spoons for tasting flavors; I thought that was a nice touch. Anyway, cool place. Lisa and her other employee are very nice and helpful. I could tell Lisa is very passionate about her amazing quality ice cream. I definitely recommend coming to Local Ice. Spread the word of this phenomenal ice cream parlor!

I confess: I’m not supposed to be eating ice cream. At least, not until I’ve dropped many more lbs. But, somehow… somehow…I ended up here with a serious ice cream craving and I’m not even really an ice cream kinda gal! Ice cream here is absolutely delicious and a real treat — creamy, rich and tastes as homemade as my Dad’s was when I was kid. This is not store bought carton crap. It’s fresh and made with real ingredients. I got the three-scoop size(don’t judge!) and the flavors were Banana Foster(very bananay, folks, just know that!), Cookie Monster and Salted Caramel. I mush my food together, so I couldn’t tell you which was the best(you’ll just have to go try them yourself). The parlor atmosphere is very charming. But the real success this place has going for it are the two girls behind the counter. Both just charmed the money right on out of my pocket!(I blame them for the three scoops!). Excellent customer service with a smile a mile wide, each one.(They will let you try as many flavors as you want — do not ask me how I know this.) Just go when you get a hankering for ice cream and are anywhere near the valley. You won’t regret it!

Cute place. Awesome music. Delicious ice cream! I would recommend this to any one who would love a creamy version of gelato. It is such a cute little place. Good to just come and unwind after work with some good ice cream.

The ice cream is creamy, smooth, offered in organic and just really good. The two ladies that helped us out were really nice. I was diggin’ the 1920’s, prohibition look and feel of the place. Would definitely come back again.

This place has a old-fashioned ice cream/soda bar feel and the employees were very nice and well dressed in time-inspired uniforms. The menu is simple and clean AND it was so clean inside despite them being busy. These are the small details I appreciate from small businesses! They make all their organic ice cream in house so I was excited about that. It did not feel like there was a high fat content that stays in your mouth, but it was fulfilling and flavorful without being crushingly sweet. They aren’t doing crazy flavors like some places now, but they do simple chocolate, strawberry, coffee, and cookies&cream right. All of them have different names though! Oh, their salted caramel is fabulous! I ordered the strawberry shortcake sundae($ 12) and my cousin got the chocolate lava sundae($ 12). Each sundae has 4 scoops you can swap out for any of their other flavors if you so choose. Just FYI the short cake and brownies in the sundaes are from Costco — the Sugar Bowl Bakery brand. I enjoyed my sundae, but I think I’d settle for 2 scoops vs a sundae next time. Seating: 6 seats inside and 4 at the counter. There was space for a stroller so its kid friendly.

So excited and sooo happy I found this place! It’s delicious !!! And the environment in here is the absolute cutest!!! And it’s so clean and definitely so so friendly :) They have a great flavors, not a huge variety in flavors but definitely enough. Plus who needs more flavors on their menu when what they offer is absolutely delicious :) I will for sure come here when craving gelato so I can have their Italian ice. Try the mango and rad raspberry Italian ice with Tommy’s Traditional Vanilla :) you will fall in love with the vanilla recipe. Did I mention it’s organic!!! :)

Lovely & adorable little ORGANIC ice cream shoppe! It’s located in the mini mall next to Shiki Sushi on the north side of the Blvd. I had the Bananas Foster which reminded me of New Orleans and the Peaches and Cream which tasted just like peach slices with cream! Seriously. If you are lactose intolerant, they have Italian style ices made with organic juices, organic sugar and fresh fruit. As for décor, it doesn’t get cuter than this: black & white tiled floor and old fashioned ice cream shoppe chairs. The young man behind the counter was even wearing a period style hat and bow tie. Adorable & tasty. Do stop in soon for a treat. Open late on Fridays & Saturdays until 11pm all summer long! Open Mondays too!

We sampled the peaches & cream, tropical treat & Cookie Monster. And while they were all good, I went with the Tropical Treat. (I love that they generously let you try as many samples as you want! Because choosing the right flavors is very important, right?!; D) The ice cream here is so creamy & rich!!! Absolutely delicious! I feel like SF has way more ice cream places with Bi-Rite, Smitten, Mr. & Mrs. Miscellaneous, Humphry’s, Mitchell’s, Swensen’s… But Local Ice is a place I’d gladly bring even the snobbiest of SF ice cream fans to try! I love that they use quality fresh & organic ingredients. Spoke with the owner & learned a lot about ice cream. I love that there are seasonal flavors. I will definitely be back!

Local ice takes me back to 1960’s or at least what I’ve seen in pictures. I just wanna use words like groovy or soda pop when I’m here. Downside: it’s hidden. I have been coming to this shopping center for a long while, this shop has been open since November and I just noticed it! There is a list of the ice cream flavors, but the ice cream is out of customer site. I would like it if I could see the ice cream. Upside: this is a cute spot and the style of the ice cream shop is classic and clean looking. They make the ice cream in the shop, so it seems to e more fresh than other ice cream shops. I tried chocolate, coffee, and the one with mint chips. The one with mint chips was my favorite. Plus I like that it’s open until 10 pm. How many ice cream shops do you know open that late? Plus the staff was cool an friendly. Like the terminator — I’ll be back.

Cute little ice cream shop! Not a huge flavor selection but enough. I like how they have a mix of homemade ice cream and Italian ice. Price is reasonable as well. I tried their mint chip which was good and their coffee and donut flavor was great! Real bits of donuts in the ice cream! Will definitely come back again.
