Studio City Branch Library

I love their last Saturday of the month book sale — 50 cents for paperback and a dollar for a hardcover!
It is also clean and usually not very busy.

I like the location and that I can find free street parking. It is a small library but it is pretty chill. Nice area with helpful employees. Found a copy machine and was able to print papers for 25 cents. I did not have to wait a long time to use 15 minute computers. restrooms do not smell horribly like the north hollywood library. The restroom was clean. Convenient library with not a tremendous amount of people in it. I’ll be checking it out again soon. It would have received more stores if the speed of the internet was faster like the Burbank library.

Comfortable and quiet place, not many people, convenient location for me, but Internet is very slow.
Parking is okay also.

It’s nice and quiet. It’s also always cold in there so I love coming here on a hot day to work on stuff. They have a decent selection of books but it is overall pretty small.
It is good if you want someplace cool, quiet and not crowded, which I often do :)

I’m so, so sad that this library turned out to be such a disappointment. To be fair, where I was living before, I was close to a gigantic two-​story branch with a lovely ocean view, so it’s probably a difficult standard to reach. But still, this tiny library has only five or six short aisles of fiction. For someone who powers through six to eight novels per month, it was a sad revelation. The facility itself is clean and bright, although the large amount of children could definitely be heard, and I had no trouble parking in the lot on a Saturday afternoon. Overall, I probably won’t come back to this branch unless I check out the other LAPL libraries and this one is somehow the best.

Nice library. It would be even better if they opened at regular business hours. Some days they open at 10:30 others at 12:30

Friendly and informed staff. One of our favourite libraries

Love this local public resource! I was a fan of libraries years ago: both in childhood and throughout the student years. But with addition of a child the library time is revived again. My kids loves this library. They have a nice selection of books. The library itself is clean, quiet and modern. The parking space is ample. I can attest that this library is much better than Noho library on Tujunga or Valley branch on Vanowen.

First of all, the speed here stinks major limburger cheese. Could it be the WiFi campers? Who knows. And the OS? Is this Windows 95? I feel like I’m navigating through Encarta’s heyday.
Still, it works. I was wanting a keyboard to operate whilst diving into the interwebz (instead of manhandling my phone) and reactivated my old library card from 5 years ago (omg…). The gal up front was pleasantly friendly during the process.
It’s a neat spot with that unique quirky 80’s modern design, at least on the exterior. The bathroom is above-​average ‘meh’. And it’s rather funny to have a key sign when they have they key basket at the end of the counter — well, why not just keep the door unlocked, eh? Or at least put the keys out of sight to be requested. Pffft.
Is it worth walking to from 20+ minutes out? Only if you don’t give a crap sometimes, you’re on vacation and still debating on a rental car… oh wait, wasn’t that me?
Indirect perks are proximity to a pretty cool coffeeshop across the street.

Clean and tiny environment with helpful employees. Stacks are usually in order. Patrons are invested in the computers most of the time. As with any library, you can be unlucky with rowdy or loud people on their laptops or phones… but for the most part people usually keep it down.
It is a really great place to study. Check the lapl website to ensure they are open before going because budget cuts have changed the hours a multitude of times.

The Studio City branch library is by far my favorite in the LA system. Besides being within walking distance of my house, they have the friendliest and most helpful staff of reference librarians of any LA branch library I frequent. And that counts for a lot. Added plus is that they have a decent selection of books on CD for my driving hours in the car. On weekdays I get in and out without delays.
Some of the other branch libraries I use in the Valley, although larger, seem to have very unhappy people at the desks who are apparently not enjoying their jobs and have forgotten how to smile. I can’t tell you what a negative impression that leaves in you. And especially in little kids. Books are treasures, remember? And reading is fun.

I love the Studio City Library. It’s in walking distance to our home and I am always stopping in for books or a movie. It’s truly one of my favorite spots in our neighborhood.

My favorite branch in the LAPL branch system, because of the quality of its reference librarians, the fact that it’s used a lot, and that it’s a clean, well-​lighted place.
The parking, though, is from hunger. Prepare to park on the street. Save 45 seconds out of your life and don’t even try the lot. It’ll be full.

Very clean and modern public library. We frequently ride here with my son to pick up the books for him. Parking is available for bikes, cars and even hybrids! Books selection, at least kids books is great, and you can always order more online. Staff is helpful and friendly.

This library deserves at least four stars strictly for its consistent service. The SCBL staff has been patient, professional and adept every time I’ve interacted with them.
The only reason I hesitate to give SCBL five stars is the size and diversity of their collection. It seems to be a primarily family-​oriented library, so their collection rarely includes the books I usually want, which are for professional development.
To the SCBL’s credit, LAPL’s interlibrary/​interbranch loan system is pretty good and has always gotten me the books I want within a few days.
Really, there’s never a good reason not to use your local library. Your tax dollars pay for it. They make you smarter. Library users earn more money on average.
So there’s especially no reason not to use this library and take a moment to appreciate its staff.

I’ve had good experience with staff so far. What I don’t lke about the library is a lack of some good books and overwhelming with stupid, mainstream books (I like modern literature but you know what I’m talking about). Poor selection, overall. Oh, and kids… I wish there was a separate building for them.

Ugh! I officially hate libraries… Just go buy the damn books instead of dealing with unsanitary, filthy, borrowed books. Are you really going to go out of your way to save $ 20 bucks and risk the possibility of having an STD…
On top of that, there are too many pompous windbag hippies shushing everyone’s bare whispers –whilst thinking they’re better than you just because they come to the local library on a daily basis. Excuse me for not knowing where the art section is and having to disturb your ghetto peace by asking a librarian… Suck it, you freeloading regular!
I’d rather go to Barnes and Noble where you can enjoy a coffee, get a brand new fresh book and not have to deal with odd-​smelling tattered books from the 70s.
Maybe this location just sucked because downtown library is phenomenal…

It’s very nice place to study. Much better than home or in coffee shop where is do noisy. Here is so quiet, inside temperature is good. Lots of tables with electric outlets where you can plug in your computer or recharge battery. Free wifi provided.
Free parking. If you don’t find parking in front of library there is a lots of space on small streets next to library.
It’s nice place just to come and read or have some quiet time.

I work from home. Which means that I work wherever I want. I find that the library is a good place to get some computer work done. It’s quiet, conducive to work, and has free wifi. It’s much better than working at a coffee shop that is noisy with a bunch of people seeing and being seen.
The Studio City Library is a good place to get some work done. There’s lots of tables with electrical outlets to plug in your laptop. There’s not a bunch of bums hanging out… if you’ve been to a library in a seedy area, then you know what I mean.
The parking lot is free and there’s free wifi. I wish that they allowed dogs, but then again, I’d never get any work done with Maddy running around.

Super limited selection (nearly all of the shelves are like a ¹⁄₃ or ½ of the way filled with outdated books).
The fella that worked there wasn’t very nice at all. He pretty much acted like I was bothering him when I went to the counter to check out my book.
Parking is okay although the lot is small.
Wish I didn’t have this library in my area. I used to go to the Santa Monica library and this one is NOTHING like that location neither in selection, space nor employees.
